Not a great experience
Reviewed by: AMD, 2016/11/28My husband and I recently moved to Oahu, and my parents were coming to visit us for Thanksgiving....I wanted to find something different we could do so I thought a dinner cruise would be perfect and relaxing. The food was subpar, and they made it seem like it was going to be a huge spread. We did not get to see fireworks, when the weather seemed fine. And towards the end of the cruise, we were just hanging out in the same area for quite some time before we had to dock. I am usually not one to complain, or write reviews, but I suggest you ask specific questions if considering these particular cruises so you are not left disappointed. We felt as though it was a waste of our money, and we would have rather gone out for a nice dinner, and sat outside to watch the sunset.

Perfect ending of a Day

We had a wonderful time and great experience on the sail and dinner. The food was good and plentiful! But be sure that you are aware that other than one drink non alcoholic or not is all that each get. Other than that it is extra but that was fine.

Hubbys Birthday Surprise

Had an amazing time!

Relaxing night on the water

The crew was very inviting and polite and friendly. The food was great and the drinks as well. Will be coming back to experience it again on Friday so we can see the fireworks as well!

It was ok evening out

A Great Ending To Our Trip

We had a beautiful sunset to the west, Honolulu and Waikiki North, and the moon rising over Diamond Head to the east. To top it all off there was good food and the awesome fireworks show. Seeing these from the water is something I highly recommend.

Meh. I think it's misleading to call this a lantern ceremony sail.

But I don't think it was worth the almost $200 we paid to go as a couple. The drinks were fairly weak, and of course they talk you into buying the $8 souvenir cup under the pretense that you'll get a bigger drink for the same price as the small cups... but they just use more mixer and ice and the same amount of liquor. We expected that and weren't expecting much of the food either since most touristy things like this aren't the best in either department. I'm mostly bummed out that this was advertised as a lantern ceremony sail which is the only reason we booked it. We've wanted to see the ceremony for the past 4 years but didn't want to deal with the huge crowds on shore. I understand that with the surf, you can't get too close, but we hadn't realized just how far away we'd be. It was just distance lights far away against the shore that blended in with he city lights and traffic. I had my extreme zoom telephoto lens and even I could barely tell when the lanterns hit the water. People opted to pull up the live streaming of the ceremony on their phones, which honestly was kind of a cool mixture to be out there live on the water and get a closer view digitally, but not worth $200 for the experience. Overall kind of disappointed, but still a cool way to see a different view of the island. Just not the lantern experience we had expected.

Awesome cruise, bad food

Sunset and fireworks

A great way to spend our last evening on Oahu
Reviewed by: Janice, 2016/04/07We decided to splurge a little on the sunset dinner cruise our last night in Waikiki. Great decision. I booked on Veltra and got a seniors' rate. The pick up and drop off was at no additional charge, and worked like clockwork. If you plan to enhance your ocean outing with lots of alcoholic drinks, it might be worth a bit extra to purchase the larger souvenir glass, which seemed pretty popular. A sweater or a jacket is a must, especially when the sun goes down. The staff were efficient and very friendly. Whales were spotted! Highly recommended activity.

Magic on the Sea
Reviewed by: James, 2016/01/03We took this cruise as a final romantic night to complete out honeymoon, and couldn't have made a better choice! The crew was very friendly and entertaining, it felt as though they were a little family who'd invited us to enjoy their boat with them. Our bartender was a fun guy who poured great drinks, including their special "Hightide." I won't give away the recipe, but of course it involves significant parts Rum, Tropical Fruit, and Delicious.
Ship was smooth sailing, giving us a nice calm view of Waikiki and the setting sun across the Pacific. The route taken goes out from the harbor and past Diamond Head, allowing for a wonderful view of it. Hiking to see the view from atop Diamond Head is one thing, but seeing the whole peak from sea is quite another treat. You'll get the feeling of a visiting explorer from the past, watching that peak and shore slip into view. Only difference is you're on a luxury cruise with Hightide in hand and some great party music playing.
Our crew even managed to find us whales, and made sure we got a great view. Saw several surface, blowholes blasting, a fluke raise, and even a calf breach! Despite some other snorkel boats mentioning the possibility of whales, this was the first time we'd gotten to see them. Even more exciting that they were so close!
Thanks again to the whole crew for making this such a wonderfull sail. Loved the food and drinks, danced to the classic hits being played, sat on the mesh net across the double bow, and ended our honeymoon with a beautiful sunset on the sea.
Definitely booking the Makati again whenever we make it back to Waikiki!
