Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2013/01/15We really enjoyed our day. The staff was great and we saw at least 2 pods of wales. Not sure if they are called pods but we saw them. The breakfast was good but the eggs were a bit grainey. It was worth the price we paid.

Good Tour for Oahu Whale Watching
Reviewed by: Lisa W., 2013/01/06We booked the early bird whale watching tour in early January. The ship, crew and food were great but we didn't see as many whales as I had hoped. We did find two whales swimming together and the ship was able to follow them for awhile so we got a few good pictures of the whales blowing water up, their backs surfacing and their tails coming out of the water.
It sounds like that was considered a good trip for Honolulu whale watching so I was happy with it. A lady we talked to had gone out on the same tour the day before and she didn't see anything so she came back out with our group the next day.
If you're looking to really see the whales, I would suggest going to Lahaina in Maui if possible. My husband and I booked an island tour of Maui later on in our vacation and we saw more whales in a shorter time period by driving down the coast near Lahaina than we did on our whale watching tour in Honolulu. It's still a good tour for those in Oahu though!

Whale Watching Lunch Cruise
Reviewed by: Jen, 2012/02/29My husband and I recently went on the Starf Honolulu on a whale watching Cruise. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the boat, we boarded the boat and it was all fun from there. I highly recommend this cruise for anyone. We actually got to see a couple of whales so that made the day even more memorable.

An Amazing Sight!
Reviewed by: Mrs. Heard, 2010/05/04So we took this cruise on our anniversary and it was a really cloudy and gray day. We didn't see any whales that day, but true to their word they issued a rain check. Luckily, we built in a flex day to our trip and were able to go again on Sunday. We saw three whales that day! It was an incredible experience. I definitely recommend this cruise!

Great time
Reviewed by: Linda, 2008/09/26This was a great way to start our family Hawaiian vacation. There was something for everyone to do. We made fresh flower lei's, learned to play the ukelele, and had hula lessons. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. The lunch buffet had a very nice selection and was ono (yummy).
Two hours didn't seem quite long enough. There were so many activities that we didn't get much opportunity to just sit back and enjoy the view of Honolulu from the sea. I would recommend this for a family activity. I would go again, next time for the whale watching season.

whale cruise

The only two things that I would suggest in the future is that you may want to utilize more of the boats space with the activities you provided, people were too crowded. the buffet needed to be held open longer and have food available in supple amounts those of us who were told we could watch the whales longer and that the buffet would be there came back to limited food and a quick clean up.

Our Whale Watching Experience3/1/08
Reviewed by: YO, 2008/03/05The Whale watch cruise aboard the Star of Honolulu was enjoyable. We did see whales from a distance and near the boat. We also saw spinner dolphins at the beginning of the cruise.
The other activities on board besides the whale watching was entertaining. My daughter enjoyed making leis for us and herself.
The lunch that was served was delicious and my boyfriend enjoyed returning to the buffet for a second helping of the salads. My daughter enjoyed the fruits and cookies that were served. The price of drinks were a bit pricey.
I want to thank the staff who helped me cleanup after my daughter when she became seasick on the cruise. They also stopped by our table afterwards and inquired about how she was doing. Thanks for your concern. Thanks also to the passengers who helped me as well with their kleenex and kindness.
I would recommend this cruise to anyone who wants an off island excursion. It shows the island's beauty from a different viewpoint.

Not bad overall!
Reviewed by: Mr. Anonymous, 2008/02/27The cruise was nice and we DID see whales! Not a lot of them, but a few spouts and breaches. Too far to really get any type of photo. The lunch is well worth it - better food than what we had at the Polynesian Center Luau!!! I'd recommend to friends who are on first time visits.
