Awesome adventure, Larry was great! He knew so much about the area and the people that live there. Larry answered our questions as best as he could. He told us funny stories, history and folk lore about the plants and land formations as we came upon them. He was entertaining and we felt safe and comfortable with him at the wheel. We had quite a few times where we could get out and take pictures or explore the area at our many stops during the day. Our lunch was delicious. It was a great opportunity to get to know our fellow travelers while taking in the scenery.

We signed up as a family of four. Our six-year-old was especially excited as it was their first experience, but on the way to the location in the rental car, we got lost and it became clear that we wouldn't make it in time for the meeting. We contacted the ranch, but they said they couldn't wait because there were other participants. It was completely our fault, so we gave up and headed to the location with a heavy heart, hoping at least to show the kids the horses. However, during the drive, I received a call from a VELTRA staff member who said they would negotiate with the ranch. After a while, they informed us that the other participants would go ahead, and we would start late and catch up with the group, which the ranch agreed to. We started 40 minutes late, but thanks to that, the kids were overjoyed. I am very grateful to the VELTRA staff for their persistent negotiation. I could feel their dedication. Thank you very much.

If you want to sit back and relax and hear about the history of the island, then definitely book this tour! You get to experience the back side of the island, the hike is definitely worth the 1000ft climb, but it's not for beginners! It is muddy and there is rocks everywhere, so you definitely want good shoes and be able to hike uphill/steps for about 2 hours! The climb down only took about as hour but we didn't stop for any breaks! Tony was an awesome guide and if you are looking for a tour with waterfalls and history, do not hesitate to book this! Well worth the money!

I was relieved to have made a reservation in advance from Japan since it was fully booked at the time. I was captivated by the eloquent guide and had a wonderful time. I learned that Haleakalā has no "sound," which was a very strange sensation. I also enjoyed a magnificent sunset and had a great time stargazing. Lastly, I was able to hear the guide's heartwarming stories, and I truly felt that participating in this tour was a great decision.

I booked the full day tour based upon the reviews I read and I was not disappointed. Garrett was our guide and he was fantastic. My sister and I are very inquisitive and he was able to answer all of our questions and maintained a running commentary about the island and its history. Lanai is very different from the other Hawaiian islands that I've visited (Oahu, Maui, Kauai, the big island) and I'm glad I had the chance to tour Lanai.

The sunset and starry sky were an unmissable part of the plan. My husband was on his first trip to Hawaii and was looking for optional tours that could only be experienced in Hawaii. The vast sky filled with countless stars was beyond words! The people who joined the tour were all very pleasant, which further elevated the mood.

The lunch included in the tour allowed us to choose our favorite items from a supermarket along the way, and there were chairs, blankets, and warm tea provided, making it perfect for a toast with tea! The location for stargazing was also fantastic, but I feel it was made even more enjoyable thanks to our guide. The guide was very friendly and attentive, and with their encouragement to "take it slow," I didn't feel any anxiety about my condition at the summit. Instead of just saying, "Let's go back after seeing the stars," they taught us various ways to enjoy the experience at different points. They shared stories and made the time enjoyable.

On the way there, the guide talked about various sightseeing spots, and on the way back, they curated music to help us soak in the afterglow and kept the conversation minimal to allow us to rest our tired bodies, which I really appreciated. It became a time to relax and reflect on the emotional experience of the starry sky.

I truly felt that the time spent with my loved one was made even more wonderful, and I'm so glad I participated! The guide Yamachan was amazing!!

This was an amazing adventure to take! The only thing I would want to change and suggest is to bring a cushion. The seats on the bus were extremely uncomfortable. Also, I wished we would have stopped at more waterfalls, seemed to rush through them pretty quickly, but I figured they have a set schedule and placement with all the other tours. It might be better to be different and step out of the norm of all the other charters? Anyway, I did enjoy the driver Larry, he was so knowledgeable and sometimes funny!

I highly suggest taking this fishing cruise! Not only was the Captain and crew very knowledgeable on all the types of fish, the Captain put us in the perfect spot so that practically everyone on board caught at least one fish. I myself caught 4, and two of those were keepers. They were all cleaned and ready for me when we departed the boat and I was even given the perfect way to eat them. What a fun time!

our guide was very informative of the plants & trees which made it a treat as he picked fresh guava which we all ate, delicious! The trail was a little muddy as it had rained the night before, no big deal. The waterfalls were beautiful, but the water was murky because of the rain the night before. So, we didn't swim in the pools, but the guide more than made up for it due to his knowledge an histories of the area. Very much enjoyed the tour!

The sunset, the stars, and the guide were all wonderful. I've participated in various tours during my travels, but this was the best one. The night sky was amazing, and I was particularly moved by the shooting stars and the largest and most magnificent Scorpius I've ever seen. There were explanations about constellations and planets, which were educational, and above all, the guide's attentiveness made me feel very secure, creating a warm atmosphere for the tour. I also climbed Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii last year. While I understand there may be weather conditions to consider, I was more satisfied and moved by this experience in many ways. I highly recommend it.

The weather was pretty bad and it meant we didn't get to swim in the pools or take the backside road back from Hana however, our driver Wayne was superb and incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.

My wife and I were kept entertained by his stories and information about the local cultures, plants, animals and food for the entire journey and despite it raining heavily and being very foggy, we always felt safe and in good hands.

The only downside was the lunch at the Trevasa hotel, it was very poor quality and despite being a buffet, you were ushered out after a single plate. I would recommend you select the non lunch option and take your own food!

These were the impressive words from our guide. While gazing at the truly star-filled sky, the guide's storytelling (which you'll have to enjoy for yourself) made me forget the cold at the summit and brought a lump to my throat. I believe this experience is definitely more than just an optional tour... Highly recommended!

We took our time climbing the mountain by eating donuts and stopping by souvenir shops. Since there’s not much walking involved, it’s quite easy. They will take you to a spot where you can leisurely enjoy the sunset and starlit sky. The sunset sinking into the great outdoors was sparkling and very beautiful. The changing colors of the sky were also lovely. You can borrow a warm jacket and a blanket, but it gets quite cold at night, so I think it’s a good idea to prepare a little on your own as well.

Did the road to Hana tour today in Maui. We had the pleasure of getting Peaches as our tour guide. She was one of the friendliest and most knowledgeable individuals I have ever encountered. Being in the people business myself it was a breath of fresh air to find someone like her that takes pride in her job and her island. The information that she gave made the tour not just amazing for the scenery, it was very educational and personal. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone who visits Maui and I would highly recommend Peaches! Thank you for all that you do and making this a trip to remember!

Late pick up

We ended up not going on this trip. The pick up was scheduled for 6:30 at a hotel we were not staying at. After 15 minutes we called the company. Oh our driver was on his way. We called again after 7. Same response and no apologies. We called and canceled . The driver didn't show up until 7:40!!! We did get our money back.

Watching the sunset—connecting it to my own life as a way of signaling the end of a day on Earth—made me want to see the best sunset after turning 60. Moreover, with the Milky Way above and a mantle convection hotspot beneath my feet, I chose Haleakalā for this unique experience. It truly is mysterious how "connections" work; I met Mr. Yamauchi, who has been guiding Haleakalā tours for 2,800 times, after moving to Maui from Washington State, where I have lived for 25 years—this seems too coincidental to be mere chance.

His passion for continuing to guide up to 3,055 times, in reference to Haleakalā's elevation of 3,055 meters, shines through in his gestures as he serves hot barley tea and when he passionately shares his life story. This was not just a tour to see the sunset and starry sky; it was something wonderful. Due to the full moon, we couldn't see the Milky Way, but Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn were all clear! Through the telescope, we could see satellites and rings, making it feel like a textbook experience (though it’s usually the other way around). I will come again during the new moon. There are still many other places I want to visit in Maui.

I am savoring a level of satisfaction that cannot be expressed in words, thanks to Mr. Yamauchi's flexible responses, Mayu's smile, and the very well-organized tour. Everything is a cosmic arrangement.

I was worried about altitude sickness, but since I acclimatized while going up, it was not a problem at all.

Above all, Yamapi is amazing.
I'm really glad I participated in the tour.

Not only is he knowledgeable and has interesting stories, but his consideration for others is also wonderful.

Previously, I experienced the Mauna Kea sunset and stargazing on the Big Island, but this time was definitely better.
