For our honeymoon, we wanted to try the Haleakalā summit tour on Maui. We debated between the sunset + stargazing or sunrise, but since we wanted to get a good night's sleep and had a feeling that the sunset would be more beautiful, we chose that option.

The group size was just right, allowing us to see everyone's faces, and our guide was great at sharing stories, making the time pass without diminishing the excitement of the participants. It was also nice to receive recommendations on what to buy at the supermarkets and souvenir shops along the way.

The sunset was stunning, although I felt like the sun set a bit earlier than expected. Still, it was thoroughly enjoyable. However, the true highlight of the tour came afterward. In complete silence, when I looked up at the pitch-black sky for the first time, the awe I felt was indescribable. Surrounded by stars, we observed them through a telescope while receiving explanations about various constellations. It was quite cold at the summit, but they provided warm clothing, and I was so moved that I forgot about the chill, and time flew by.

I am grateful to our guide for their excellent storytelling and to have been blessed with good weather (it seems the participants from the previous day had a tough time due to poor weather).

On the way down from the summit, I fell asleep feeling a sense of satisfaction and emotion, wrapped in a relaxed mindset that life is too short to rush.

I think it would be wonderful to bring our parents next time. This was one of the few optional tours that left us very satisfied, and I highly recommend it for honeymoons (though it might be a bit tough with small children).

今回新婚旅行でマウイ島に行くにあたり、やってみたかったのがハレアカラ山頂ツアーでした。
サンセット+星空かサンライズで迷いましたが、夜はちゃんと寝たいし、なんとなくですがサンセットの方がきれいそうだなというくらいの気持ちで選びました。

参加人数も多すぎず、全体の顔も見渡せますしガイドさんのお話も上手で、車内でも参加者の楽しみな気持ちを減衰させることなく時間が過ぎていきました。
ところどころでよるスーパーやお土産屋さんでもどういったものがオススメかなど説明してもらえたのも良かったです。

サンセットもとてもきれいでしたが、少し日が落ちるのが早かったのかな？という印象ではありましたが十分堪能できました。
これだけでも比較的満足度は高かったのですが、このツアーの本領はこの後でした。
あたりは一切物音もしなくなり、完全に静まり返った中で初めて真っ暗闇の中空を見上げた時の感動は言葉では言い表すのが難しいほどのものでした。
あたり一面に広がる星に包まれ、いろんな星の説明を受けながら天体望遠鏡でその星を観察する。山頂はだいぶ寒かったですが、防寒具なども準備していただき、感動でそもそも寒さを忘れるほどであっという間に時間が過ぎていました。

終始上手にお話ししていだけたガイドさんへの感謝と、本当に天候にも恵まれ(前日参加の方々は天候に恵まれずつらいツアーとなったようです)た偶然に感謝感謝です。

山頂から降りる車の中は満足感と感動と、生き急いでも仕方ないよなというおおらかな気持ちに包まれながら寝てしまいました。

次は両家の両親を連れて行ってあげられたらすてきだなと思える、数少ないオプショナルツアーで非常に満足のいくものとなりました、新婚旅行などにオススメだと思います(小さい子連れだと少ししんどいかもしれません)。

It was truly a wonderful starry sky. I thought it would be cloudy on the day I participated, but above the clouds, it was clear, and I could see the Milky Way and shooting stars clearly. The Earth shadow appeared after sunset, and seeing the shadow of the Earth felt like a cleansing experience for my heart. While watching the stars and listening to the guide's stories, I was moved to tears. I heard it would be cold, so I layered up with sweatshirts and down jackets, which kept me warm enough to enjoy the night sky. Before heading to the mountains, we stopped by a supermarket and a souvenir shop, and the supermarket had good prices!

Haleakalā had bad weather, so we couldn't see the sunset. However, I thought it was impressive how the guide skillfully found a spot for stargazing by slightly changing locations. The tour progressed smoothly, and I felt the guide was very capable. I'll try again next time for a revenge trip.

My husband and I participated together. The stars were beautiful. Yamapi's guidance was also excellent.

We arrived in Maui at 12:00. After picking up our luggage, it took 40 minutes by taxi to the hotel. Although our pickup was at 3:00 after check-in, we climbed Haleakalā on the first day, so I felt like we quickly got accustomed to Maui. It was wonderful from the very first day.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, the sunset was a bit disappointing because of the clouds, and I thought the stargazing would be beautiful since it was close to a new moon, but we ended up seeing it at a lower elevation where the clouds were present, which was half of what we could have seen in the national park. After experiencing a sky full of stars once, I felt a bit let down. However, the guide's stories and explanations about the stars were very detailed and enjoyable, and their attentiveness was remarkable, so I plan to participate again. The stop at the donut shop and shopping at the club were also very nice. Additionally, even though I met the other participants for the first time, it was a fun tour with a friendly atmosphere. If only the stars had been visible, it would have been a five-star tour! ⭐︎

Bruce was awesome. Swept us up at the marina and asked if there was something in particular we didn't want to miss. We were open to anything so off we went. Nice hidden beaches. Great views. Lots of places we could have never found (or wouldn't dared) if we were touring alone. Bruce was so informative and was just comfortable to be around. The only improvement would have been the 4x4 that was advertised. The Yukon we went around in wasn't the best ride and that's fine but all the advertisements showed a very different vehicle.

This was a tour I had been interested in for a long time, recommended by a senior colleague. It was my second time at Haleakalā.

The first time, I visited Maui for a day trip and drove there. I saw a sky full of stars, but since I didn't have any knowledge about stars and had to catch a flight back, I only looked at the stars for about two minutes while descending, thinking, "Wow, it's beautiful!" before quickly returning to the car.

This time, for my second visit to Haleakalā, I knew from the beginning that it would be a full moon, and I participated in the tour for the first time. I could only see bright stars with the naked eye, but through the telescope, we were shown various stars, searched for Mickey in the full moon, and since we lacked knowledge about stars, we learned a lot from the explanations. Listening to the guide's stories helped reset my mind. Hearing from someone with so many experiences is truly valuable!

Due to my husband's work schedule, I can't plan trips around the new moon in advance, but I hope to go again when the new moon comes around.

I'm grateful to the senior colleague who recommended the tour! Thank you very much, Yamapi-san!!

今回の2回目のハレアカラは、初めから満月だと分かっていてツアーに初参加。明るい星しか肉眼では見えませんが、望遠鏡で色々な星を見せてくれ、満月の月にミッキーをさがしたり、やはり星の知識がない私達は星の解説を聞けて勉強になりました。またガイドさんの話を聞いて心がリセットされました。色んなことを経験されてきた方からのお話は為になります！

I participated with three friends.
The process: Since there were participants coming from various resorts on the island, we took a welcoming car and met up with other participants at the meeting point.
After that, we stopped by a supermarket for dinner, where we bought souvenirs like coffee and almond chocolate at a cheaper price than ABC Mart, and then headed to Haleakalā!
During the journey, we climbed the mountain while listening to the guide's explanations and interesting stories.
We took a bathroom break along the way, and since we ascended gradually, I didn't really notice the changes in air pressure and oxygen levels!
Also, the scenery we saw while climbing was very beautiful, and I was taking pictures the whole time!

The summit was very cold, and without the provided warm clothing, it would have been impossible to go outside and enjoy the view.
At night, there were no streetlights at all, and since there were no guardrails on the mountain roads, those who came individually returned before sunset.

I got the impression that going individually is almost impossible.

The sunset and starry sky were more beautiful than anything I had ever seen, and I kept looking up at them (*^_^*)
During the viewing, the guide also provided explanations.
My friends were very satisfied, and we were really glad we participated.
This tour made me want to go to Maui just for it.

道中はガイドさんの説明と、面白い話を聞きながら、山道を登って行きます。
途中、トイレ休憩をしながら、少しずつ登ったため、気圧、酸素濃度の変化もあまり気にならずにすみました！
また、登ってる間に見える景色がとても綺麗で、ずっと写真を撮っていました！

山頂はとても寒く、用意されている防寒具がなければ外に出て景色を眺めるのは無理だな。という感じ。
また夜になると全く街灯がなく、さらに山道にガードレールなどもないため、個人でいらしてた方々はサンセット前に帰っていました。

個人で行くのはほぼ無理だなという印象です。

サンセット、星空は今まで見たことない程の綺麗さで、ずっと見上げてました(*^_^*)
また鑑賞中はガイドさんの説明もあります。
友達達も、大満足で、参加して本当に良かったです。
このツアーのために、わざわざマウイ島に行きたくなるようなツアーでした。

The tour was a great experience. Definitely learned a lot about the island and saw places we would have never found on our own. The only complaint my group had was the political commentary from the tour guide. He started early on referencing those "damn democrats" and a negative reference to ACLU. Being a group of very liberal people, we found it offensive but did not say anything for fear that he would not provide as good of a tour. This would have been a great experience without this extra commentary.

The sunset and stars are so beautiful that it's overwhelming.
The journey to the tour is relaxed, with stops at the supermarket, Krispy Kreme, and picking up dinner♪
We also bought souvenirs at the supermarket we visited at that time.
It's cold at the summit, so I recommend dressing warmly, but they provide extra clothing and blankets for you.

This is my first visit to a rainforest and I was amazed.

We were picked up at designated location at 930 AM. We then changed to rubber shoes at the office and proceeded to hike. We were given breakfast and started the trail. Looks like it rained heavily the previous day and so we had to cross few streams on our way. The current in the streams were below our knee level but very strong. It was scary. The guide was very friendly, funny, knowledgeable and professional. So we did not have any difficulty. But it was awesome to see the falls full of water and strong currents in the streams. While we were told about occurrence of flash floods, I wonder what life would be in these situations. It was really wild out there, but you are with a professional.

I particularly enjoyed sliding in the water through a tunnel (the guide was there at the other end of the tunnel to stop me from being carried away by the current). My son (29) jumped 20 feet into one of the water fall, the guide showed us twice how to do that. We visited several water falls and I managed to stand under one of those 10 feet tall falls. The guide showed us several varieties of flowers, plants and fruits. We tasted some fruits, and had a good lunch break in one of the falls. The hike was not very difficult but also was not very easy. We returned to our car by 2 30 PM.

Many of the falls are not accessible to public and visiting with a professional is the best way to do it. I strongly recommend the hike to anyone.

We had Garrett as our guide and learned so much about the island. It was a pleasure spending the morning with him. We had lunch at the Four Seasons resort and the view was amazing. We had the shrimp tacos and the Macai salad. Best lunch ever.
