Memorable experience

Reviewed by: Cathy, 2018/09/29

The ferry ride was VERY rough on trip over to Lana I. Many roads not open due to recent rain. We enjoyed hiking in Shipwreck beach and seeing the landscape. The cat sanctuary was the highlight of the day. Walking arount town was pleasant. We enjoyed visiting the shops. Probably wouldn't return unless we were assured that more roads were open. Staff was quite accommodating.

Lanai 4+4 Jeep rental

Reviewed by: Bob, 2018/09/22

The Jeep experience on Lanai was great but we could not take it on most of the off roads except for shipwreck beach. The recent rain tropical storm dropped a lot of rain and left the roads impassable. This is the 2nd time I’ve tried and had the same result.

A little disappointing

Reviewed by: Michigan , 2018/08/06

Three of the five off road trails were closed. That should be advertised to people who are looking to come over. The trip to Shipwreck Beach was beautiful and worth that road. The Goddess trail was not clearly marked and hard to find where it was. One of the highlights of the day was pastries and coffee at Blue Ginger Cafe. Wish we had time to have lunch there too. It was a happening place and the staff were very friendly. Overall good day but would have been better if there were more trails open and they were up front with potential customers.

Opportunity missed!

Reviewed by: Marylibrary, 2018/08/04

Out of the five roads that took you to various parts of the island three were closed and the other two had restrictions. No mention of this was ever made on the website or when I booked. Also, my fault, Koele Lodge is closed and under renovation so did not get to see that! Lanai City was cute and people were so nice. Going to Lanai was a bucket list item for me. A little disappointed.

4X4 Jeep rental Lanai

Reviewed by: Rich McClure, 2018/02/14

Overall a very nice experience you will see places and things only accessible by Jeep.
However this was a very short turnaround. I was under the impression I would board a 6:00 AM ferry. It turned out to be a 9:30 ferry so I lost 3 Hrs right off the bat. Would have liked to have more time

Maui to Lanai Ferry - Fun for the Family

Reviewed by: Deric, 2017/02/06

We had a great time with the ferry to lanai and the Jeep rental. Although buyer beware - the Jeep rental agency on Lanai will try to shake you down for transporting you on the shuttle to the rental office. Only send your driver with the shuttle to avoid being charged for the shuttle.

Aweful

Reviewed by: id4das, 2014/05/28

This is the worst waste of time and money. Most roads are closed no beaches to snorkel or swim at. Speed limit twenty miles per hour and they do ticket you. Jeeps in poor shape.
Only really want people to come over to the four season resorts.again do not waste time or money

Ferry/Jeep Rental

Reviewed by: Donald, 2014/05/16

This trip was not as advertised and was the greatest disappointment in our week on Maui. Roughly half of the Jeep travel on the island of Lanai was declared "not accessible". The Dollar agency has a red stamp already made to limit travel to the one main island road. This was not the map we had seen when we decided to book the tour. Also, Jeeps should have been made available at the ferry dock instead of losing time getting to and from the Dollar agency by van. That was over an hour lost out of an already short day. Correspondence through the Office of the Attorney General, Facebook, Trip Advisor and other media outlets will help inform the purchasing public of the service actually delivered by this tour.

HORRIBLE - would not let me post under 1 or 2 stars

My husband and I were on our honeymoon, and out first trip together to Hawaii. We took the ferry from Maui to Lanai, but when we got there we were not directed what to do. After wandering around for a while someone finally directed us to where we needed to go. After waiting in line to get a shuttle to where our jeep rental was, they were out of spaces on the shuttle. We ended up having to wait for one of the workers to take us to the jeep rental. Once we finally got our jeep, they provided us with a map with places we were allowed to go (most of which were closed without reason) there were only two places we were allowed to go. We went down to Shipwreck Beach to snorkel, but the water was so murky we could not see anything. We went down to the other beach we were allowed to go to, but shortly after we left. We wanted to turn in our jeep and go back to the main harbor to snorkel, and we were told the shuttle would run every half hour, but when we got back to the rental place to turn n the jeep, they advised that that wasn't the case, and we would have to wait for the shuttle that took the group back to the ferry right before it left. We ended up sitting in the car until it was time to return. The shuttle was fifteen minutes late picking us up.This was the worst day in Hawaii that we had, and I would not recommend this activity to anyone.

Check in procedure was quick and easy. Gas prices were a bit high, but we didn't need a full tank. Off roading wasn't the highlight of the trip, but it was okay.
