Wonderful River Cruise
Reviewed by: Pat, 2023/09/02We took this River Cruise on our 20th wedding anniversary. it was to remind us of the beauty of the Fern Grotto that we visit many years ago. The boat ride was fun. We loved the narration, the music and hula dancing. I highly recommend this cruise.

Great little adventure!

The staff were funny and very enjoyable. It was disappointing we couldn't go in the cave the last time you could. However we understand why.
I would definitely recommend this activity. Hearing about the history was awesome.

We didn't think they'd still be around, after Iniki ravaged Kauai and COVID shut down hundreds of businesses. The hotel where we stayed was gone so we feared there would be nothing left from our initial trip. But when we returned, there were the Smiths, still in business! We loved the informative cruise and especially the lovely traditional Hawaiian music - not the usual pandering with "Aloha Oe" and "Tiny Bubbles," but the real stuff. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this revisit to a highlight of our honeymoon.

A river cruise you will always remember!

Fun and educative few hours on the river - amazing scenery and we learnt the hula too

Smiths team were entertaining and amazing historians they taught us loads about the river and the area round it the Ukelele plying and traditional dance including Hula felt so special. This was worth every dollar spent .

Best ever tour for the money

A lovely, peaceful boat trip along a beautiful river
Reviewed by: Ginger from Kansas, 2022/02/13The Smith's Wailua River Cruise was very good. The open windows were fantastic for taking pictures. We cruised at a relaxing speed. It was fun to watch the people in Kayaks and on paddle boards along the way. There is a roof on the boat so it's very shady & the padded bench seats are comfortable. We were entertained with interesting history about the river and area.
It was easy to get in & out of the boat. The Fern Grotto was a very lush & beautiful area. There were no mosquitoes or flying insects when we were there between 11 A. M & 12:30 P. M.
At the Grotto & on the boat, we were entertained with singing and dancing. It was a very enjoyable time for all.

Fern Grotto Boat Tour
Reviewed by: Oahu Vacationers, 2017/11/15We had to U-turn few mins late since GPS couldn’t find the Wailua Marina location - Waze app had “Wailua River State Park” but it took us down a tiny steep road... luckily we arrived on time for the 11am tour. Had great photos along the way! Enjoyed the boat ride; aside from the humidity and brown muddy water due to the rain night before...bring a fan or baby wipes. We saw 2 kayakers and 2 paddle boarders. Nice boat attendees and Hawaiian musicians. A lovely, less than 2 hr tour with lots of time to explore rest of the island! Mahalo!

Early Bird Gets the Best Tour!
Reviewed by: Annette , 2017/05/09Who could pass up a tradition of Hawaiian tourism that has been in operation since 1947?! The Smith family was awesome. They were very friendly and kind. We were fortunate to be on the first boat of the day and in a small group. The morning was cool yet very comfortable. While we waited for our tour to start, the on-board talented trio of musicians were taking requests, joking and visiting with the passengers. Once on the river, the captain gave us an overview of the points of interests along the way as we passed stand-up-paddle boarders and kayakers enjoying the quiet river too. We were treated to a beautiful hula demonstration, native music and an improv hula lesson! After a short walk to the grotto, our "guide" explained some of the history and folk lore about the grotto, afterwards, they sang the Hawaiian Wedding song to us. It would be fun to go back again!

Best Luau ever

Nice relaxing ride on the Waimea River
