The good: Black Sand Beach and Volcanoes National Park are as good as they can be. Halema'uma'u Crater is amazing.

The average: The Coffee Farm we visited is a small one. We saw the coffee plants, but didn't see much about how the coffee is produced as the machines are taken apart and stored. Food is ok-ish, lunch is fast-food bento, dinner is at a small restaurant.

The unfortunate: We didn't see any star due to the cloudy weather. If you want to do stargazing, join a stargazing group as they will have better planning and equipment.

We were taken to the top of Halakela to see the amazing views, then due to the crowds we went a little lower to a secluded viewing area, chairs were provided, snacks and tea. Watched a amazing sunset, were provided Jackets as it gets cold after the sunset. Stargazing was unreal! Two powerful Telescopes were used, saw stars and the craters of the moon like never have. It was a memory of a lifetime.

I wasn't confident about driving to the summit of Mauna Kea, so I decided to join a tour. In hindsight, it was a great decision!

They picked us up from Waikoloa, and after a break at the visitor center for altitude acclimatization, we made our way to the summit of Mauna Kea. With the guide's explanations, I was able to deepen my understanding of the history of the Big Island and important points about Mauna Kea.

Although the summit was quite crowded, we found a recommended spot by the guide and enjoyed the sunset without anyone obstructing our view. During the stargazing afterward, we were able to look at the moon through a telescope while sipping hot cocoa, and the guide explained the constellations. It was a packed experience, and I was very satisfied!

They also provided equipment for altitude sickness, such as warm clothing and oxygen masks, so I recommend the tour for anyone who has even a slight concern. The sandwiches they provided as a light snack were surprisingly delicious!

その後の天体観測でも、ホットココアを飲みながら望遠鏡で月を見せていただいたり、星座を解説していただいたりなど、盛りだくさんの内容で大満足です！

防寒着や酸素マスクなど、高山病に備えた機材も準備されているので、少しでも不安がある方はツアーがおすすめです。
軽食で用意されていたサンドイッチも期待していなかったのですが非常に美味しかったです笑

After learning how to use it, we practiced thoroughly at the facility before heading out for a short tour. At Ala Moana Park, they provided plenty of explanations about the plants, history, and even added some humor. I had heard that there were few Japanese tourists, so I was expecting an English tour, but luckily, we had a Japanese guide (Shoyo) because it was summer vacation.
