Mauna Kea has been closed for a while due to protests against the construction of a new observatory since last year, but as of February 2020, it was accessible to the summit depending on the weather. Since we had a 3-year-old child with us, we only joined the activities involving rides, but the Jurassic Park movie location and the jungle tour in the Kualoa mountains were quite bumpy, and the child enjoyed it like a roller coaster. The lunch time was a bit short, about 40 minutes, so we hurriedly ate, and afterwards, we had a farm tour with tastings. Since my aunt and parents are in their 60s, we moved around by rides, which seemed manageable for them physically. Everyone had a great time, and we took a lot of photos, so we were very satisfied!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with the Rainforest & Waterfall Swim Hike in Maui! We were able to experience it all: pretty tame trails, swimming in cool waters, and cliff diving from the falls. This adventure is appropriate for families (but I wouldn't take very young children), couples, or solos that desiring a peaceful hike.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly the entire hike. He was also very accommodating (I had a shoulder injury at the time) and the hike was still very enjoyable!

There were plenty of times to rest, swim, and eat snacks. Our guide was attentive to our needs and provided other suggestions of what to check out/visit during our stay on the island. I highly recommend!

We were able to see the whales' backs and their spouts up close. The boat drifted near the whales for a while, and we continued to see their backs and spouts. Although it was a wonderful breakfast buffet, I was so captivated by the whales that I hardly ate, and I wondered if breakfast was even necessary. I took the bus to the Kalihi Transit Center to purchase a Holo Senior Card. Normally, I would leave my suitcase at the hotel (Waikiki) and then go to Ala Moana Center, taking the City Express! - Walpahu bus. However, this time the shuttle bus stopped at Ala Moana Center and allowed me to check my suitcase, which made it easy to get to the Kalihi Transit Center and saved time. The Holo card issuance counter was quite crowded and took over an hour, but I was able to finish it in the morning.

I think $36 for two people is a bit expensive, but if you want to stop by Ala Moana Center or have a meaningful way to spend time until the hotel check-in time (usually 3 PM), it’s worth it. Also, all the staff were cheerful and provided kind assistance, guiding us from the lounge to the bus.

二人で＄36は高いと思いますが、アラモアナセンターへ立ち寄りたい場合やホテルのチェックイン時間（通常15時）まで有意義な過ごし方が出来ていいと思います。またスタッフの方は皆さん明るくてラウンジまでの案内・ラウンジからバスまでの案内もして頂き、親切な対応でした。

Pick up was right on time!
Our guide Matt was very knowledgeable and passionate about Hawaii island from legends to Hawaii original plants and animals. He kept entertaining us until his voice got hoarse! My favorite part of the tour was definitely the lava tube. it's really amazing!! The way to and from the lava tube is super bumpy and rough. If you get motion sickness, you should take medication for it. I brought kids (12 and 10) with us and they enjoyed themselves as well. Hiking was very mild so anyone can enjoy this tour, I think.

On February 10th, due to a winter storm, the observatory staff at Mauna Kea had to descend because of the bad weather. The Onizuka Center was also closed all day due to sub-zero temperatures. However, our guide Jin said, "Let's find a hole in the clouds and chase after it. Since it's like this, let's explore the super rare winter storm in Hawaii." Despite being hit by heavy downpours that felt like an automatic car wash, we were able to see the majestic slopes of Mauna Kea, the fantastical cinder cones, the rain clouds changing shape and flowing by, and the massive thunderclouds and lightning approaching from afar. We also spotted a rainbow appearing over the undulating lava and Mauna Kea, which was beautifully snow-covered as its name suggests, along with Mauna Loa, which typically doesn't receive snow, lightly dusted in white.

In the car, there was a mood of acceptance that stargazing was impossible on such a day, but Jin was the only one who hadn’t given up. He read the movement of the clouds and drove the car east, then west, and finally north. "Huh? Is it not raining around here?" Our spirits lifted instantly! We stopped by a heiau near the harbor and discovered a sparkling starry sky through a gap in the thick rain clouds! We were overwhelmed by the brightness, number, and depth of the night sky. Before we could even take photos, the heavy rain returned in an instant. Such weather is unique to the Big Island, isn't it?

Although we couldn't make it to the summit of Mauna Kea, Jin skillfully listened to everyone's plans and generously shared information about points of interest. He even took us to a great spot for whale watching that is easy to see during this season. I was impressed by Jin's guiding skills! Thank you very much. (For those prone to motion sickness, please take anti-nausea medication. The mountain roads are quite winding and bumpy.)

あれ？この辺は雨やんでる？我々のテンションは一気にアップ！港のそばのヘイアウ脇で停まり、分厚い雨雲の隙間にキラキラの星空を発見！その輝きの強さ、数、夜空の深さに圧倒されました。写真を撮る間もなく、あっというまに土砂降り再来。こんな天候もハワイ島ならでは、ですよね。
マウナケア山頂には行けなかったけど、さりげなく全員の予定を聴いて気前よく見どころ情報を教えてくれたり、この時期に見やすいホエールウォッチングのポイントに寄ってくれたり、Jinさんのガイドとしての技量に感服！ありがとうございました。

I had always wanted to climb Mauna Kea when I visited the Big Island, but I had given up because the summit had been closed since July. However, I heard that the road to the summit reopened in December, so I signed up for this tour.

At the beginning of the tour, I was informed that the summit was closed due to bad weather for three consecutive days, and I arrived at the 2800m Onizuka Visitor Center while praying. There, we took a break to acclimatize to the altitude while eating our lunch. When we got back in the car and the guide told us that the gate was open and we could go to the summit, there was a cheer in the vehicle.

The road to the summit was steep and off-road, and I thought it would be impossible to go there in a rental car. Thanks to the guide's skilled driving, we safely reached the top.

It was quite windy at the summit, and even with the snow gear we borrowed, it was freezing cold. However, the view from there was indescribably beautiful, and I was really glad to see it.

After descending, the guide explained stargazing to us. I was happy to see the starry sky, the full moon, and even a comet.

On the way back to the hotel, the guide told us that a moonbow had appeared and stopped the car. It disappeared in an instant, but I was lucky enough to see the elusive moonbow, making it an incredibly lucky day.

ハワイ島に行ったら絶対マウナケアに登りたいと思っていましたが、7月から山頂閉鎖されていたため、諦めていました。しかし、12月から再び山頂への道が再開したと聞いて、このツアーに申し込みました。
ツアーの最初に、3日連続で天候不良のため、山頂閉鎖されていると聞いて、祈りながら、2800mのオニズカビジターセンターに到着しました。そこで、お弁当を食べながら、高山病に慣れるための休憩をしました。再び、車に乗り込んだ時、ゲートがオープンしているので、山頂まで行けるとガイドさんが教えてくれた時、車内で歓声が上がりました。
山頂までは、オフロードの急な道で、とてもレンタカーで行くことは出来ないと思いました。ガイドさんの熟練の運転で無事頂上に着きました。
頂上はかなり風が強く、貸していただいたスノーウェアを着ても凍えるくらい寒かったです。しかし、そこから見える景色は言葉に出来ないくらい美しく、この景色を見れて本当に良かったと思いました。
一旦下ってからは、ガイドさんから天体観測を説明してくれます。満天の星や満月、そして彗星を見ることが出来て良かったです。
また、ホテルに帰る途中にはガイドさんからムーンボウが出たと教えてくれて、車を止めてくれました。あっという間に消えてしまいましたが、幻のムーンボウまで見ることが出来て、今日はすごくラッキーな一日でした。
もし、ハワイ島に行く予定がある方は、絶対にマウナケアのツアーに参加したほうがいいと思います。この旅で一番の思い出になりました。本当にありがとうございました！

I participated with my elderly mother and husband. The food was very delicious, and the show was wonderful. In particular, the host's talk was entertaining, and we were enveloped in laughter and emotion. The guide was also kind and spoke slowly in easy-to-understand English for Japanese people, which was reassuring. After the show, we immediately got on the bus, so I thought it would be good to use the restroom after finishing the meal. The return bus had quite strong air conditioning, so a jacket is definitely necessary.

高齢の母と主人と3人で参加いたしました。食事もとても美味しくショーも素晴らしかったです。
特に司会の方のトークが面白くて笑いと感動に包まれました。ガイドの方も親切で、日本人にはわかりやすい英語でゆっくり話してくれますので、安心です。ショーが終わったらすぐにバスに乗りますので、食事が終わったところでトイレに行っておくといいと思いました。帰りのバスはかなり冷房がきいていますので必ず上着が必要です。

I went whale watching in early February 2020. The weather was nice, but we couldn't see any whales. I thought maybe it was a bit early in the season since they apparently don't jump until after giving birth. The hotel sent a bus to pick us up, but it arrived more than 10 minutes late, which made me anxious that we might have gone to the wrong meeting place. Once the bus arrives, they call out names, so there's no need to worry while waiting. I opted for the breakfast option, but there wasn't much time, and the menu was quite limited, which was disappointing. The good thing was that the sea was beautiful! I hope this helps you.

I was worried about whether I would really be able to see anything based on the reviews, but from about 30 minutes after departure, I was able to see continuously. I couldn't see the large figure right in front of me, though... I didn't include breakfast, so I went outside early and watched from above. There were English announcements followed by explanations in Japanese, so I think it would be fine for those who don't understand English. Since this ship is large, I think even those who are prone to seasickness would be okay. On the way back, I asked the driver if I could be dropped off at Ala Moana, and I thought he said okay, but in the end, I was just passed by. I arrived at 9:00, and the lounge at Ala Moana took care of my luggage, allowing me to comfortably shop and dine. The weather on the day of the event was perfect. My wife, who is usually not accustomed to riding a bicycle, and I participated together, and we both had a fantastic time!

For those who regularly ride mountain bikes, the trails might feel a bit lacking, but the stunning scenery, the impressive mountain ranges, the beautiful blue sea, and visiting locations that have been used in numerous films made it all incredibly enjoyable.

I think the course overlaps with most other activities, so I highly recommend experiencing it on a bicycle while feeling the wind!

そこから名前を呼ばれてロバーツの人と一緒にバス乗り場へ、バスに乗りホテルまで直行。

ホテルチェックインが16時だったから時間潰しできるし、
重いもの買ってもホテルの駐車場まで送ってくれるし、
お昼ご飯も食べて、スーパーでたくさん買い物出来て満足でした。
次回もまた利用しますね。

It's perfect for movie lovers. The scenery from the films is right in front of you! It's a valuable experience! The botanical garden was also enjoyable with the guide's humor. Lunch can get crowded, but there were enough chairs for us to sit. At one point, we ran out of hot water for milk, and since the next tour time and dining area weren't in a restaurant, I was concerned about hygiene for the baby and didn't order. Also, there are no changing tables, but if you're well-prepared, it's fine for those with babies! You can sit for a long time without getting tired and enjoy it all the way to the end.

We did the EarlyBird Breakfast Cruise on Jan. 22, 2020. It was wonderful. Easy to arrive and enjoy some breakfast before leaving. Food and drinks were well worth the price.
Shortly after leaving we saw the whale breaching amd we were all amazed.
Capt. Mike and crew did an amazing job.
Highly recommend!!!

At first, there were no whales, so we enjoyed a leisurely cruise. The weather was nice, and it felt great to relax while taking in the views of the sea and mountains.

In the end, there was a rush of whale sightings! We all reacted to the captain's announcements of "Look in the direction of 3 o'clock!" and moved around the boat together. We were thrilled to see about three whales spouting water and showing their tails as they dove!
