On September 20th, our family of four, including a 4-year-old and an 8-year-old, participated in the morning session. After coming out of the sea, it was a bit chilly, so we needed something to cover ourselves. The staff explained everything in Japanese, which made it easy to understand. They provided life jackets for the kids, so there was no need to worry even if they couldn't swim. The DVD they filmed for a fee was well-edited and became a wonderful family memory. We also got to see sea turtles, the food was delicious, and the staff had a bright atmosphere, making it a fun experience.

I participated in a sunset tour. Everything was in English, which might be tough for those who don't understand it at all. Personally, I dislike tours that are only for Japanese people, so I found it interesting. Also, since it's quite an expensive tour, there weren't many young people who looked like students (Maui itself is a luxury resort, so there weren't many young people like that).
The food and service were very attentive, and I think the cost performance is quite good. Cinnamon rolls, burritos, and fruits were served on the boat, along with a BBQ dinner, and on the way back, alcohol and ice cream desserts were provided. Of course, drinks were included as well. I think it was quite generous.
The staff answered various questions, and their explanations about the island and the boat were interesting. However, if you're a beginner at snorkeling, the sunset tour might be a bit challenging. Since the winds are strong in the afternoon in Maui, I recommend the morning tours over the sunset ones. It seems that morning is the best time for snorkeling in Maui. Therefore, I hardly saw any fish on this tour... Additionally, when we landed on the island, there were options for exploring the island by car or snorkeling at the beach, which was nice because we could do what we wanted.
I didn't feel seasick at all. People from other tour companies also said that Trilogy's tour is the least likely to make you seasick and that the service is good.

I participated in a tour on September 21, 2011.
On the day of the tour, it was very windy and quite chilly, and the water was murky, making it nearly impossible to see anything while snorkeling.
If it was just visibility issues, it would have been one thing, but the high waves due to the wind were very frightening.
First, we went out a bit offshore by yacht and boat for turtle watching. I was thrilled to encounter a sea turtle.
After that, we moved on and got off the boat to walk in the water towards the sandbar. Depending on the tide, I think, the white sandy beach we saw in pictures wasn't as prominent.
After taking plenty of photos at the sandbar, we returned to the boat for lunch. This was satisfying. We had sandwiches, salad, fruit, and cookies, which were quite filling. The tour organizers also offer photos for an additional fee, and you can receive the data that evening.
After a break, it was finally time for snorkeling. Despite the cold and strong winds causing some people to give up, I managed to return to the boat safely thanks to the support of the instructor, but I was filled with fear due to the high waves.
I realized that this tour is heavily influenced by the weather. I think the timing was just right.

I chose the early morning plan, so the time was short and it felt a bit pricey, but the water was up to my shins and the view was 360 degrees of the ocean! It was very beautiful... I think it's a sight you can't see in Japan.
The crew was very cheerful and made the atmosphere on the boat enjoyable as well.
You might not want to have high expectations for turtle watching. You can see them somewhat from the boat, but it's not very clear.
I did some research on the tide information in advance and chose a date close to low tide, which was great. However, it seems that tours are also held close to high tide. There might be times when the water is up to your waist when you go, so please be careful when selecting your date (especially if you are bringing small children).

I participated in the experience campaign on September 21.
We departed from Honokohau Marina in the Kona area on a very large rubber boat called Sea Wolf.
*Unrelated, but the captain of the Sea Wolf was quite big and muscular, yet he spoke in a high-pitched and cute voice with broken Japanese, which was a bit amusing due to the contrast.
While some may have preferences regarding rubber boats, unlike regular boats, we could all enter the water simultaneously from the side of the boat instead of waiting to enter from the back. This meant that even if dolphins appeared, the chances of missing them due to waiting in line were low, which I personally found very good.
The dolphin point itself is close to the marina, but for those who are prone to seasickness, it's safer to take motion sickness medication beforehand.
Additionally, you can choose from life jackets or floatation devices, so even non-swimmers and children can feel safe. Conversely, for those who can swim, not having a life jacket (especially) allows for more freedom in the water. By the way, I was allowed to swim freely without a wetsuit, life jacket, or floatation device.
Shortly after leaving the harbor, I was surprised at how easily we encountered a pod of about seven dolphins. During the first entry, we were able to see two groups of seven dolphins each.
On the way to explore the dolphins, there seemed to be a manta ray point nearby, and during the second entry, we were able to encounter three manta rays at that point.
The mantas were swimming around that area, and the water depth was about 10 meters, so we could see the mantas from above with plenty of excitement, and for those who could dive, they could see the mantas quite closely.
I was thrilled to see a manta ray swimming with its mouth open to eat plankton for the first time from the front, and I could even see the stripes inside its mouth.
Soon after, during the third entry, perhaps due to luck, the dolphins swam around for a very long time, and at times, I was able to swim with them at a distance of about 50 cm, and they jumped right in front of me, providing quite a show.

I participated last October and personally found the seawater to be very cold, so this time, since it was September, I was really looking forward to it. Last time I joined the afternoon session, but this time I discovered the different charm of the morning session.
The result was... rain. While Waikiki was sunny, once we crossed the mountain, it was pouring rain (laughs). Before even worrying about the cold seawater, I was soaked and freezing! I was a bit anxious that it might get canceled, but we set sail in the rain! We did some turtle watching in light rain and saw about 2 or 3 turtles. By the time we arrived at the sandbar, it was raining even more. We went out in our swimsuits, but it was cold! Some people on the tour were smartly wearing jackets while walking on the sandbar. I thought that was the right choice. When the sunlight peeked through the clouds, it felt really nice. The seawater was warmer than last year, which was a bit of relief amidst the cold rain on my upper body.
Next was snorkeling. What surprised me was how the sea turtles were unusually friendly! They are protected by law and should never be touched, but they actually came up to us (laughs). While snorkeling, they swam alongside us the whole time, and it was truly a precious experience!
Despite the on-and-off rain and feeling cold, it ultimately became a wonderful memory for me and my two friends!!!

Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day, so it was a bit cold, but I had a great time. The water was about mid-calf at the shallowest point. I think it would have been even more amazing if I could have participated during low tide when the sand is fully exposed. The staff were all cheerful and energetic, making it a fun experience, and the hamburgers for lunch were very delicious. We were also able to see sea turtles here and there, making it a highly satisfying tour that I recommend. Since the waves are calm, I think even beginners in snorkeling can enjoy it.

I participated in mid-September. The staff were friendly, and I had a fun experience.
The summer-only early morning course follows this flow: "Boat → Walk on the sandbar → Snorkeling → Breakfast."
However, it can be quite cold in the morning. Once you get into the water, it's manageable, but due to the strong wind, it can be quite uncomfortable when you come out wet. Even without that, if you go with a summer mindset, it feels chilly. (At one point, all the participants were hesitant.)
Make sure to bring something to protect against the wind, or you can borrow a wetsuit.
Also, you need to pay attention to the tides, as there can be times when the water level is quite high.
It's safer to bring a waterproof camera, or you can bring a waterproof case.
There are apparently friendly sea turtles around, and you can often encounter them. (This time, one came quite close to us.)
The price seems a bit on the higher side, but overall, I think it's a good tour.

Since it was my first time snorkeling, I opted for a guided tour. I participated in the morning session on September 12th. It wasn't as cold as I expected, probably because I wore a long-sleeved rash guard.
With four couples and two guides (one at the front and one at the back), I felt safe while swimming. The guides were Alan, who spoke Japanese, and a Japanese man in his twenties. They pointed out various sights, saying things like, "That's a ○○ blenny," and "Look, a sea lion is popping its head up! How rare! Lucky!!" I think the presence of the guides made the experience enjoyable.
When we arrived, there was a line at the ticket booth, but the guide had prepared everything in advance, so we were able to join the tour with hardly any wait. (For those with time constraints, it might be okay even if you're not a beginner...)
What to bring: an entrance fee of $7.5 per person (plus a tip), a bath towel, a camera (waterproof is better), and if possible, a small bottle of mineral water (for drinking during the trip or before swimming... snacks and water provided by the tour were given out after swimming), and I don't think anything else is necessary. After swimming, there was a simple outdoor shower to rinse off sand and seawater, and I changed at the hotel, so I didn't need a change of clothes.
We had a light meal in the morning before participating, so it was fine for us, but those who hadn't eaten seemed to get hungry during the tour, so it might be a good idea to bring some crackers just in case.

The ride home was the only part of the trip that was challenging. I recommend anyone taking this cruise to take a dramimine before departing. On the ride back the crew passed out plenty of buckets, people were getting sick because of the rough ride. It is not the fault of the crew, the seas are especially rough. The only warning we got ahead of time was that it is an "E" ticket ride on the way back. No one on the boat knew exactly what to expect. We were lucky enough not to be the ones who did get sick. Well worth the money and the views are breath taking. It is an experience we will never forget. The crew was very nice and helpful. Thanks y'all!!

I was able to take my time to enjoy the Napali Coast, and I even had the delightful experience of encountering a pod of dolphins along the way. There were detailed safety considerations, so I didn't feel particularly anxious. However, there were hardly any Japanese people, so all the explanations were in English, and due to the noise of the boat, I could hardly understand anything. It's a shame because the guide was doing their best to provide information. I might need to improve my English skills to enjoy it more. Also, during snorkeling, I was surprised by the lack of fish, so I got out of the water quickly. Maybe the waves made it difficult to find a good spot.

When we arrived at the meeting point, we were the only Japanese customers there. Once we boarded the boat and set off, I couldn't help but scream with excitement at the incredible speed. It was so much fun! I'm glad I wore sunglasses because the wind was strong.
After a while, we encountered a pod of dolphins, and I was thrilled to see them jump in front of us like in a dolphin show at an aquarium. The clarity of the water in Kealakekua Bay was amazing, and I took various pictures of the fish with my waterproof camera while snorkeling. An American child on board was having fun jumping off the boat. We took a little break on the boat to enjoy sandwiches, fruits, and snacks.
After that, we went to see various caves and felt the greatness of nature. There was an explanation in English about the history of the Big Island along the way, so I recommend that those who don't understand English read the Japanese pamphlet provided before boarding.
It was a tour that exceeded my expectations, and I was very satisfied!☆

We had a great time as a family on this cruise. My kids (ages 10 and 13) swim, but I was still nervous about them with snorkeling gear in open water for 1.5 hours. Turns out I had no need to worry. They have these great flotation devices you can buckle around their torsos that gives them about 50% flotation, and my kids enjoyed having these on so they didn't have to expend much energy swimming and could enjoy the fish. I'm a marginal swimmer--ok in pools but little experience in open water, and I had a great time also--put on a flotation device around me and didn't worry a bit. I probably could have continued snorkeling another hour. The kids enjoyed sliding off the boat slides into the bay also. Highly recommend.

Floating in the night sea for 45 minutes while being tossed by the waves, even while holding onto something, takes quite a bit of stamina. I wondered if I really needed to wear a life jacket. The day we went, the waves might have been a bit rough.
I took motion sickness medication, but the waves were so rough that I got seasick and returned to the boat a little earlier than others. At the very least, it's a good idea to remember some English like "I wanna go back to the boat. I'm tired." The staff will help you when returning, but for the few meters until you grab the rope, you'll have to swim on your own in open water, which could be tough if you're not a strong swimmer... I think it's better to return with a bit of energy left. It was a more demanding activity than I expected.
The manta rays came quite close, which was great. Since seaweed and debris can get tangled in your hair while floating, wearing a swim cap helps prevent that and also makes the mask straps more comfortable. The English explanations weren't difficult, so you'll be fine.
I wanna go back to the boat. I'm tired."

The image of the sandbar had me expecting a lot, but when I actually set foot on the sandbar... it felt just like a shallow area? I think it's best to participate with slightly lower expectations. The photos that are often shared are a bit too impressive (゚ー゚; However, the location is amazing! The sea stretches as far as the eye can see, and it's beautiful. There were many other tour participants, but it didn't feel crowded, and I was able to enjoy myself. Unfortunately, the snorkeling visibility was low, possibly due to the season, but it was still a valuable experience. The Japanese guide's stories and atmosphere were very pleasant. I would love to join again if I have the chance! ♪
よく公開されている写真が立派すぎるんだと(゚ー゚;

As the organizer of a wedding, I brought relatives aged 13 to 60 to participate. Everyone was extremely satisfied with their first snorkeling experience—beautiful fish, sea turtles, and the cobalt blue sea. Seeing everyone so thrilled made all the fatigue of being the organizer disappear. The four hours flew by in no time.

Cruising while being blown by the sea breeze was very pleasant. The view of Hawaii Island from the ocean was also wonderful. Along the way, a pod of about five or six dolphins came close and swam right by us, which was a bit moving. The snorkeling was beautiful with its blue waters, but it was a bit disappointing that there weren't many fish. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the cruising was, and I felt glad to have participated.

I've been to Oahu several times, but this was my first visit to Hanauma Bay, so I opted for a guided tour. The price was higher than other Hanauma Bay tours, but having a proper guide made me feel secure, and I was able to enjoy snorkeling without worry. I don't think we would have been able to go that far out on our own. My friends who joined me, as well as others on the tour (both women), said, "I didn't think it would be this hard..." but I didn't feel that way at all. It was so much fun. Thank you!

This snorkeling cruise was alot of fun. The crew worked really well together, skilled and knowledgeable and used alot of humor throughout the day and made everyone laugh. The bar-b-que was delicious and prepared very well. They crew made it a point to take us where sea turtles hung out and they didn't disappoint. We saw families of sea turtles swimming around. The snorkeling was good and I wished we would have had more time to spend there. The sea was gorgeous and very clear. We got to see the island that Gilligan's Island was used in the opening scene and that was great since we grew up with that show. Overall, a great and enjoyable way to spend a day and the price was comparable to the experience.

Thank you for joining us. We are sorry that you were unable to see many wild sea turtles on the day of your visit. Our captain tries to take you to the best spots for wild sea turtles based on the sea conditions that day, but please understand that the number of turtles you can see may vary from day to day due to the nature of wildlife. Additionally, as you mentioned, the water depth of the sandbar changes with the tides and seasons, but we appreciate your understanding that tours are conducted daily, excluding Sundays, holidays, and special occasions.
