Hawaii
Our family of 6 had a great time on the 2 hour kayak tour to Flat Island! Our guide Cyrus was very knowledgeable about the island and the near-by beaches. He also shared a few Hawaiian stories explaining the history of Flat Island and some of the flowers growing there. All in all, I'd recommend the activity to anyone interested in kayaking the crystal clear waters of the eastern Oahu shore. And if you're a more experienced kayaker, or in better shape than us, try the 4-hr tour!
I was a bit worried about the roller coaster since it seemed a little scary, but it was completely fine. I can't speak English, but there are Japanese instructions on the boat, and they give directions in Japanese when putting on equipment and during landing, which is reassuring. However, the pickup and check-in at the port are all in English, so I had to watch what others were doing... During the final splash into the sea, even strangers can really get excited together. The wind is strong up there, which is a bit scary, but the view is amazing, so I definitely want to do this again in Hawaii next time.
I first learned about parasailing from the television, and I really wanted to try it! I felt no fear at all and soared high into the sky; it was incredibly refreshing! The view of the ocean from above is completely different!! The staff were cheerful and could speak some Japanese, so I felt at ease during the experience.
Being residents of Hawaii, and being born and raised on the Big Island did not prevent me from finding this an awesome adventure!! Loved it, I recommended that my friends and family take this tour as well.
Bucky was an excellent guide.
It was fun, we were waiting for the climax once we got up there but never got it. There was a young girl and her grandpa and the staff was really good with them. There is a big push for tipping, despite the cost of the activity. We used their transportation and they were reliable.
My husband and I were too afraid to try scuba diving and this was the perfect fit for us. The guides are great and it was so much fun!
The ocean was beautiful and the environment was very nice, but I felt that it was tough since almost no one on Maui speaks Japanese, so you need to have at least a basic level of English for everyday conversations.
海はきれいでとても環境はよかったのですが、マウイ島はほとんど日本語が通じないので日常会話程度の英語ができないときびしいと感じました。
This parasailing experience is awesome. The kids had a great time (it helped that I offered $20 for a "really good ride.) A crew member even offered to take pictures with my camera for me rather than charge for using theirs (and he took some really unique ones.) The crew was friendly. The shuttle service was on time (though we could have done without the pet bird in the cruise.) I highly recommend this company.
A group of eight of us, my wife and I, our 9 year old daughters, my sister and her husband, and my brother and his wife, went kayaking for the first time with Ocean Safari Kayaks, and we all agreed that is was one of the best activities of our whole trip. The staff, Mikey and Debbie, was very friendly, informative, and supportive and the locations we visited were awesome. Although not as leisurely as going on a snorkeling trip with a power boat or raft company, I'd say this trip gives you more of a sense of adventure. We were able to check out the Dragon's Throat Sea Cave, which was a bit intimidating, but with their guidance, were able to successfully enter. Then, came the snorkeling which was awesome, and most importantly the cliff dive. That is one experience I may never stop talking about. My brother, brother in law, and I all took the plunge, not to mention being upstaged by Mikey doing a spectacular backflip off the cliff. Anyway, I could go on and on about this, but its d
This was a really fun experience! Jonathan was our tour guide and since we were the only ones booked that afternoon, it was a really private tour. We snorkeled at Hideaways Beach, which was breathless. The kayaking back was a little tough because we were tired from the snorkeling but we finally made it. I would definitely do it again!
The description of the Falls "hike" should be reworded to "casual stroll". All the interesting parts that might be qualified as hikes were barred as off limits for falling rock or just closed off. Also, the change in elevation was laughable. It was more like going to a park.
The waterfall actually had water, but not enough water yet for swimming, which was teh main point of it. That part was very underwhelming.
The snorkeling on teh beach was great. Amazing area and great knowledgeable staff/tour guides. highly recommend that part.
The 4 hour guided kayaking excursion was amazing! We had Matt and Andy and could not have asked for better guides! They made the entire excursion so much fun! My husband and I cannot wait to come back again!
Parasailing was a lot of fun. The staff was very friendly and funny. What keeps me from giving them a 5 star is that the pictures they take of you cannot be purchased individually. So if you want any of the pictures they take you have to buy all of them which starts at $30.
My boyfriend and I went parasailing to celebrate our anniversary, and it was awesome! The crew was polite, interactive, and entertaining, but at the same time safe and professional. The boat ride and the parasailing itself was lots of fun! I thought that it would be scary, but it was really easy and exciting and I wasnt that afraid at all. It was also romantic to parasail with my boyfriend, so this is a great activity for couples! (But friends and family as well.) I would suggest this activity to everyone, and would gladly do it again =]
Kayaking was fun -Cave was not quite what I had expected (much smaller, but impressive all the same) and I didn't think about the fact that I could not see while snorkeling due to not being able to wear glasses. Otherwise, tour guides were great and this was a very enjoyable way to spend time in the sun.
Bob was the best thing we did on the entire island! The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and made sure everyone had fun!!
LOVED Milo and Dee! Great times! Lots of wonderful local information and stories too.
Although we really enjoyed the beautiful setting and being on the water it would have been much more enjoyable if they had provided fins. The water was a little choppy and we weren't able to snorkle as long as we wanted because we were just too tired after all the paddling. Also, we weren't able to enter the sea cave because of the waves. I was hoping to see dolphins or turtles but I guess it wasn't our lucky day. The staff were very nice and helpful but I think there are better sites for snorkling.
We loved this event. What a wonderful view of the island. And it is so peaceful hanging over the water.
Spectacular way to view fish. Very relaxing & exciting at the same time. Felt very safe.
I THOUGHT KAYAKING WOULD BE HARD TO DO BUT IT WASN'T AT ALL. I LOVED IT. BE SURE TO GET THE BACK REST...IT MADE THE DIFFERENCE...
This was our family's first trip to Maui and we wanted it to be special for our two teenage boys. The day we were supposed to have the lessons turned out not to have the best surfing conditions, so they called us to reschedule. We really appreciated them wanting us to have a good experience with some success. As parents, we were very pleased with the care and attention for safety and detail. The class size was pretty small (only 5 or 6) so there was plenty of opportunity for individualized questions. They explained everything thoroughly and made sure the boys understood what they were doing. They both caught several waves and it completely made the trip for them. We came back a few days later to rent gear for them to surf one more time... they remembered all of the instruction and had a blast! Wonderfully nice people - there is also a photographer that can capture the moment you ride your first wave - memories worth paying the few extra bucks for!
This was my first time parasailing and it was a blast!! My husband and I will definitely do this again!
Firstly,at best my partner is a moderate swimmer, so she really isn't confident in the water.
We booked a 4 hour kayaking activity with some apprehension. I can honestly say it was the best day of our holiday.
Not only because Lanakai beach was fantastic but mainly because of the young staff, like Andy and Nick our guides. The staff don't wrap you up in cotton wool. They are young, laid back but professional if needed and full of local knowledge.
Super, super day. Many thanks. Mandy and Mark (UK)
I recommend this for anyone who is not afraid of heights. You can get a great view of the hotels in Waikiki and Diamond Head from the sea, and once you're up in the air, it's not as scary as you might think! The explanations are in English, but it's not a big problem if you don't understand them. As part of the service, you will fall into the sea once, so wearing a swimsuit and bringing a towel is essential. Also, it might be cold while you're waiting depending on the weather, so having a hoodie or something similar would be good.
It was fun, but it was a very windy day! The seas were rough which made our parasailing very interesting! My husband, 6 year old and I flew together. I was squished in the middle and I also felt a bit sea sick. It wasn't as enjoyable as I thought because of the wind, but it was fun! The crew was wonderful!
I really enjoyed this trip, we didn't rent a car in Oahu and this was a great way to see the North Shore. We learned a great deal of Hawaiian history on the way up. And the town and Waimeia Beach are incredible. We snorkeled and swam in the waterfall at waimeia (?), it was a cool day but the water was temperate and so fresh - if you go to the waterfall swim in the lake surrounding it - its really wonderful. Bonzai Pipeline had no waves though so I'll have to go back in the winter.
Gave us a chance to spend more time at the North Shore (we stayed at Waikiki).
Two Virginians loved this excursion! We're so glad that we rode on a tandem kayak so we could switch on paddling. You need to be somewhat physically fit so you can keep up with everyone. We were soo lucky to see an off-season whale, as well as a pod of dolphins. I know it's up to mother nature to see these incredible creatures, but i would have still enjoyed the tour without seeing them. Highly recommended.
