Unfortunately, the height of the waves affected our entire family, and even the motion sickness medication barely worked, so we spent most of the time lying down. We were able to see dolphins and managed to experience snorkeling, but the intense rocking created some memorable moments in a way, haha. This time we traveled in late February, but next time, if the weather is milder, I would like to participate again.

I stayed at the King Kamehameha Hotel right in front of Kailua Pier, so it was easy to walk there for the 7:30 AM meeting. Once on the boat, there was a buffet area with bread and fruit, and coffee and water were also available for free.

After about 40 to 50 minutes of traveling along the bay, they provided explanations about various buildings and scenery, all in English. I just enjoyed the atmosphere. The Kanoa II is a large catamaran, but the swaying in the open sea was quite significant. There were about 40 passengers, and it seemed that around 20% of them looked a bit green. I recommend taking motion sickness medication about an hour before boarding.

When we arrived at the snorkeling point, all passengers were gathered on the first floor for about 10 minutes of safety instructions, also in English. They mentioned that in case of an emergency, the horn would sound five times, so we should return to the boat immediately, not to stand on the coral, and not to stray too far from the boat. I think as long as you don't act too differently from those around you, you'll be fine. The snorkeling point is about 15 meters deep and incredibly clear and beautiful. There are quite a few fish, but the water is cold! They seem to rent out wetsuits for a fee, so if you're not confident, it might be a good idea to borrow one. I gave up after about 20 minutes of swimming due to the cold and the waves, and returned to the boat early. The boat stays here for about an hour, and it might be tough for those who are sensitive to motion.

For lunch, the staff grilled hamburgers and vegetables on the spot, and you can make your own cheeseburger at the buffet. It was quite delicious! If you're not feeling seasick, definitely give it a try (laughs).

On the way back, it takes about another hour to return to Kailua Pier.

The boat is large and has a flushing toilet, which someone mentioned is much cleaner than many public restrooms. There’s a bar area, and soft drinks seem to be free. The staff comes around to each table to ask if you need any drinks. Smoothies and cocktails appear to be for a fee.

Among the participants, we were the only Japanese, but the handsome and beautiful staff frequently checked on us, so we were able to relax without worry. The sea water is cold, but the wind on the way back is also quite chilly. If you're in a wet swimsuit, you're bound to catch a cold. I recommend bringing something to wear over it, like a windbreaker.

カノアII号は大きな双頭船ですが、外洋の揺れはかなり大きく、乗客は40名ほどいたでしょうか、そのうち2割ほどはグロッキーになっていたように見えました。乗船する1時間ほど前には酔い止めをしっかり飲んで参加されることをお勧めします。

シュノーケリングポイントに着くと、乗客全員が1階に集められ、注意事項の説明が10分ほどあります。これもすべて英語です。
緊急の時はホーンを5回鳴らすからすぐに船に戻ってね、サンゴの上には立たないでね、船からあまり離れないでね、後いろいろ言ってたと思うのですが、まぁ周りの人とあまり異なる行動をしなければOKかと思います。
シュノーケリングポイントは、深さ15メートルぐらいあるでしょうか。さすがに澄んでいてとてもキレイです。お魚もそこそこいます。ただ、水が冷たい！！
有料でウェットスーツも貸し出しているようなので、自信のない方は借りた方がいいかも。私も20分ほど泳いで寒さと波の高さにギブアップです。早々に船に引き上げました。
船はここで1時間ほど停泊しています。ずっと揺れてますのでつらい人にはつらいかも。

ランチはスタッフがその場で焼いてくれたハンバーグや野菜がビュッフェコーナーに並び、自分でチーズバーガーを作って食べます。かなり美味しかったですよ！酔ってなければぜひ召し上がってください（笑）。

そして帰りはまた小一時間ほどかけてカイルア桟橋に戻る感じです。

船は大きくてトイレも水洗、どなたかが書いていましたがそんじょそこらのトイレよりよっぽどキレイです。
バーコーナーがあって、ソフトドリンクは無料のようです。スタッフが各テーブルを回って飲み物いらないか？と聞きに来てくれます。スムージーやカクテルは有料のようです。

参加者のうち、日本人は私達だけでしたが、美男美女のスタッフがしょっちゅう様子を見に来てくれるので、気にせず過ごせました。
海の水も冷たいですが、行き帰りの風もかなり寒いです。濡れたままの水着だと漏れなく風邪をひきそうです。ウィンドブレーカーなど、上に羽織るものを持参される事をお勧めします。

We were picked up from our resort hotel at the Hilton Waikoloa. This was the only sunset whale watch cruise I could find that was actually in Kohala (why go back down to Kona when you're staying in Kohala?), and we were not disappointed.

The pupus were solid and kept us full enough to grab a late dinner after. The drinks were plentiful with lots of choices. Best of all, the skipper knew what he was doing and found us some whales and dolphins. He even got the dolphins to swim alongside/under the boat, which was a truly unique experience to lie on the net, a couple feet above a family of dolphins swimming full speed.

I know they cannot control the animals or the weather, but we lucked out on both fronts. Would recommend!

Cruising down the coast was a good was to see more of the island especially the Captain Cook monument. The only negative - the weather and unfortunately, no one has control over that.

Tori-chan (the Japanese instructor) provided transportation, and we had a great time in the car. I was invited multiple times by Tori-chan to participate, but I only joined as an observer, which I really regret. My daughter and son had the best experience, seeing manta rays up close for 45 minutes, including one manta that was injured and another that swam in circles four times. Next time, I plan to go to the Big Island to see the manta rays up close and meet Tori-chan again! (^O^)

This time, we signed up for the early morning plan with four people. We paddled out into the vast Pacific Ocean, and it felt very safe and comfortable. At first, it was tough getting up early in the morning, but I was deeply moved when I saw the sunrise. I haven't experienced the afternoon plan, but I think the early morning plan is better because the waves are smaller and you can see the sunrise.

Unfortunately, we didn't see any dolphins this time, but it seems that in general, the early morning offers more opportunities to encounter dolphins, so if you're going, I think the early morning is the best choice.

The morning cruise was wonderful, blessed with great weather. A rainbow appeared, the sky was beautiful, and it felt great just to see people doing yoga on the beach or taking a walk. Once we headed out, we saw whales swimming in the ocean everywhere.

These are completely wild whales, right? I felt like I was in the great outdoors and lost track of time. The boat rocked quite a bit, so I couldn't take photos myself, but there was someone on board with a high-performance camera with a telephoto lens who captured some amazing shots. Everyone got the data from that person and we excitedly talked as if we had taken the photos ourselves.

The cruise also included drinks and light snacks, making it a very satisfying experience.

朝のクルーズは、天気に恵まれて、素晴らしいものでした。虹が出て、空の景色は良いし、浜辺ではヨガをやる人達がいたり、散歩するだけでも気持ち良かったです。さて、沖へ出て、海を泳ぐクジラがあちこちに居ました。
これって、完全に野生の鯨ですよね。なんか、大自然の中にいるんだ！という感覚になって、時間を忘れました。けっこう船が揺れたので、自分では写真は撮れませんでしたが、同乗してた人の中にかなり高性能の望遠レンズ付きカメラを持ってた人が、素晴らしいショットを取っていて、みんなその人からデータを貰って、あたかも自分が撮ったみたいな話をして盛り上がりました。

This time, I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon and booked this tour. It was an experience beyond my imagination. It was so wonderful that I forgot to take pictures. Wild dolphins swam around us, performing three flips, and it was so mystical and amazing that I thought I was dreaming. Our guide, Daisuke, and the captain were perfectly in sync, and they were incredibly knowledgeable about the ecosystem, providing detailed explanations to all our questions. I wanted to swim with dolphins and was looking into various tours, but I hesitated because I was scared of floating in deep water with just a life jacket and snorkel. That's when I found this tour! With this option, I could keep my feet on the ground the whole time, which made me feel safe, and I could definitely interact with the dolphins, so I decided right away! They also took a lot of photos, and although there was an extra charge, I think it was great to have those moments of interacting with the dolphins captured in pictures.

At the deepest point, we dive down to about 30 meters to see sunken ships and other sights on the seabed. There is also a Japanese audio guide available, so I don't think there will be any issues. If you request a pickup, you will arrive about an hour before the meeting time, and there will be an additional 45 minutes after the return. I think it would be efficient to enjoy some tea nearby or take a stroll around Kailua-Kona during this time. The hotel we stayed at only had high-end souvenir shops, and since we weren't planning to stop by Honolulu, it was great to be able to buy souvenirs all at once at the ABC Store inside the King Kamehameha Hotel.

I've always wanted to learn how to surf and Jason was totally awesome and fun to work with. Although there were high surf warnings and strong current warnings going on at the time, I nailed a perfect 10, according to him, on only my 5th wave. I later got 3 in a row, including standing up, surfing the wave, and laying back down again without falling in the blue water below. I quickly caught on to many of the trends, such as interpreting the waves and knowing when to go for it. The first thing to do with learning most any skill is to find patterns.

Jason called me a natural at it, and I believe it, given how quickly I learned and how enjoyable my experience was. It did take me a bit of time to get used to getting up to the standing position from laying down, but the classroom-like aspect of the first segment really helped with that.

I would say the hardest part about this whole thing was finding a parking space for where you'd be doing the actual surfing itself. I parked my car as collateral, and the reception was inside the house. It seemed to be a popular tour, as there was another boat besides ours. As mentioned in other comments, everything is in English, so it might be more enjoyable if you can speak a little, but even if you don't understand at all, you'll manage. (The captain shares some history with us.) Suddenly, we sped off into the ocean. Since it was my first time, I was desperately hanging on to avoid being thrown off. If you get seasick, medication is a must. The view of the Big Island from the ocean is magnificent. It was the best. It was my first experience with snorkeling. They provided life jackets, which made me feel safe. We encountered sea turtles and rays. I also saw many beautiful fish. We encountered dolphins three times. They played with us, doing twist jumps right in front of us! It was truly fun. The captain gave us snacks on the boat, and they were delicious! Hawaiian chips with green chili flavor. After that, I went around supermarkets looking for them, but unfortunately, they weren't available.

Thanks to this, I had a very enjoyable time. I would love to visit again.

その後それを求めてスーパー巡りしましたが、残念ながら売ってなかった。。

お陰さまでとても楽しい時間でした。
また訪れたいとおもいます。

I was able to try multiple times to swim with the dolphins up close. Thanks to that, I was able to swim among a pod of dolphins. As a bonus, I even got to see a whale, which made me very satisfied. Daisuke truly conveyed his love for dolphins, and it felt like he understood their feelings as well. I'm a repeat visitor to the Big Island, and I will definitely be a repeat customer for this tour too!

Because it was a morning cruise, they made good on sighting whales. There were multiple sightings. The amount of time on the boat was good, because after the sightings, I could actually relax and just enjoy the rest of the boat ride. The refreshments were tremendous. The crew was very generous and informative. I know the crew couldn't get as close as I would have liked, because of regulations, but I sure would have liked to have closer pictures and more majestic surfacings. But, overall we were happy with the cruise.

I lined up a little earlier than the scheduled time and was the third group. As time passed, more and more people lined up. Since entry is based on the order of arrival, I think it's best to line up early if you want a better seat.

After checking in, you have to wait before entering the venue. Check-in is at 5 PM, and the doors open at 5:30 PM, so you will wait for about 30 minutes.

First, you receive a welcome drink and are shown to your seat. Once seated, you are free to enjoy, but the food is only for children. There is a place where you can enjoy temporary tattoos and small items, and while you're having fun there, the food for adults will become available.

Even before the main show starts, there are songs and dances on stage, and music is always playing, so you can have a pleasant time.

As the sun sets and it gets somewhat dark, the main show begins. There are classic fire shows and hula dances. Since my seat was a bit far, I think it's better to choose a higher seat if you're looking for a more intense experience.

Additionally, from 8 AM on the day of the event, you can watch the preparation of a whole roasted pig. This is also quite impressive, so I recommend seeing that as well.

日が落ちて、ある程度暗くなってくると、いよいよメインのショーです。定番のファイヤーショーやフラダンスです。少し席が遠かったので、迫力を求めるならば高い席にした方がよいと思います。

また、当日朝8時から、豚の丸焼きの準備を見ることができます。これもなかなか見ごたえがあるので、合わせて見ることを推薦します。

I had a rare experience being able to see manta rays up close! They come quite close to you, which can be a little scary. I usually don't get seasick, but I started to feel queasy after floating in the water and looking down at the manta rays for a long time, so I went back up to the boat partway through. I think it's a good idea for those who are prone to motion sickness to take some medication. It gets chilly at night, so I also recommend preparing for the cold.
