I enjoyed snorkeling at the famous Kealakekua Bay, known for its high transparency. Before leaving the country, I completed my reservation and payment online, and I was impressed by how convenient things have become.

On the day of the trip, my friend and I were the only Japanese participants, and I was worried since we couldn't speak English. However, the crew members were very kind, and their bright smiles reassured me even without words.

The boat was larger than usual, and the facilities, including fresh water showers, were excellent! Moreover, it was fantastic that the boat moved quickly over the water with minimal rocking. Watching the marine blue surface of the sea under the sun while feeling the sea breeze washed away my usual fatigue.

We were also lucky to spot dolphins from a distance along the way.

For lunch, we had a BBQ on board. The hamburger after a swim was delicious! I enjoyed it with my favorite drink until I was full.

When I encountered fish I didn't recognize, the staff kindly brought out a guidebook and showed me pictures.

今回は透明度が高くて有名なケアラケクア湾でシュノーケルを楽しんできました。出国前からオンラインで予約申し込み＆支払いを済ませ、世の中便利になったものだと感心したものです。
当日は日本人が私と友人の２人のみ、英語が話せないので心配になりましたが、乗船スタッフ皆さんがとても優しく、言葉が通じなくても明るい笑顔に安心しました。
船は一般的なものより大きく真水のシャワーなど設備もすばらしかったです！また、なによりも揺れが少なく高速で海上を移動できるのが最高です。太陽の下でマリーンブルーの海面を眺めながら潮風に吹かれると、普段の疲れが一掃されます。
途中からイルカの姿も遠目に見られ、とてもラッキーでした。
昼食は船上でバーベＱランチです。ひと泳ぎした後のハンバーガーはこれまた美味しい！好みのドリンクと一緒にお腹一杯いただきました。
わからない魚はスタッフさんが、親切に図鑑を持ち出し写真をみせてくれました。
またまた、ぜひ参加したいと思います。

On the first day of my arrival, I went to the show. I felt like it started before I really understood what was happening, probably because I'm not used to English, but I was quite moved by the appearance of the king. I was able to experience a ceremonial hula that you can't find in other dinner shows. Everyone there was very friendly, but since I couldn't speak English, I could only manage polite smiles. It seems that having better English skills is necessary to enjoy it more. As for the food... well, it was just average. I was happy to drink a lot of Kona coffee, though.

On the first day of my arrival on the Big Island, I participated in this tour. After renting a car at Kona Airport, I headed straight to the meeting point, arriving at 1 PM to prepare and board the boat at 2 PM. It was raining, but we were still able to snorkel. An hour after boarding, we reached a fairly deep spot near the Captain Cook monument. Due to the bad weather, not much was captured on the underwater camera, but I was able to see fish with my own eyes. As for the snacks, we were served pineapple, oranges, potato chips, and drinks. ビュッフェタイプの食事もテーブル事に案内してくれるので、まっていれば良いだけ！。
料理はそれも美味しくて、日本人好みにしたんじゃないか！って位口に合います。それを食べても美味しいです！。ダンスも楽しいし、海の香りと波の音も爽やかで、いい気分でした~。
ただコナには珍しく雨が降ってきました。これがちょっと残念！。

I went to Hawaii Island for the first time and participated in snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay. The guidebooks say it's better in the morning, but I joined the afternoon tour and had plenty of fun. The crew is all foreign, so there might be some language barriers, but they are experienced, so there's no need to worry. The atmosphere was great, and I really enjoyed it. The sea was calm, and if you're lucky, you might catch some fish along the way, and there’s a chance of encountering dolphins while snorkeling. Unfortunately, I didn't see any when I went. The boat was comfortable as well. It's a large catamaran, so I didn't see anyone getting seasick.

The hula dance was great. It made me want to learn how to dance. The food was also delicious, with flavors suited for Japanese tastes. I thought it was generous that cocktails and other drinks were all-you-can-drink. We drove from a hotel around Waikoloa, but it seemed to be rush hour, and we got caught in traffic on the way to Kona. I think it's better to allow some extra time to participate in the show.

We participated as two families. Since it was an English tour, I was a bit anxious, but with the voucher, there were no issues at the reception. Once on board, the staff was kind, which made me feel at ease. The boat anchored in about 8 meters of water. Although I started snorkeling feeling a bit overwhelmed at first, I gradually got used to it and began to see fish and even dive a little...

The kids boldly played by jumping into the sea from the second deck of the boat using a slide and diving from the deck (4-5 meters). The parents also returned to their childhood and jumped in as well.

There are two episodes related to the camera...
First, a friend's husband dove from the deck with a camera! When he came up from underwater, he had a cut on his forehead... the camera had hit him. Fortunately, the injury wasn't too serious, but the camera was broken. For some reason, we all ended up laughing... everything becomes fun when you're here.

Second, my husband came down the stairs from the deck with ease. However, he slipped at the end! The camera he was holding disappeared into the sea. But the staff dove in and found the camera for us. We were so moved. Thank you very much.

子供たちは、船の２Ｆデッキから滑り台で海へ飛び込んだり、デッキ（４~５Ｍ）から海へ飛び込んだり、大胆に遊んでいました。親たちも童心に帰って飛び込んでみたりしちゃいました。
そこでカメラにまつわる２つのエピソードが・・・
その１．友人のご主人は、カメラを持ってデッキからダイビング！！水中から顔を上げるとおでこに血が・・・・カメラが当たってしまったのです。けがは、それほどでもなったのですかカメラが壊れてしまったのです。でもなぜか大笑い・・ここにいると何でも楽しくなってしまいます。
その２．私の夫は、軽快にデッキから階段を下りてきました。ところが最後にツル！
手に持っていたカメラが海のそこへ~~消えていきました。ところが、スタッフのかたが潜ってカメラを探してきてくれたのです。もう大感激でした。ありがとうございました。

Our family consisted of our youngest child, a 4-year-old girl, and two boys aged 13 and 15, along with my spouse. We had a decent time. I'm not sure if it was because it was a Monday, but there were about 30 participants in total. The breakfast pastries and fruits, as well as the ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch, were plentiful enough that there were leftovers at the end. I thought the flavors were quite American and a bit bland, but my son really enjoyed the breakfast muffins, and my wife loved the vegetables served at lunch and went back for seconds. The deck was not crowded with that number of people, which felt just right.

After about a 30-minute sail, we arrived at our destination and started snorkeling. The instructions were only in English, but I assumed that the safety information was all that mattered, so I think as long as you have some common sense, you should be fine. The only warning was that "fins should not be worn until just before entering the water," and there were no other particular issues. My 4-year-old daughter, who dislikes getting her face wet, was floating with a life jacket. The three men dove down to about 4 meters to see the fish, but unfortunately, the fish were scarce... (this might have been specific to that day?). This was the biggest downside. I don't know how Hanauma is these days, but I don't think there's much difference (the water wasn't murky like at Hanauma). There was one more thing: the man steering the boat was completely unfriendly. The other crew members were all nice (no worries there). Also, if you're prone to seasickness, it's advisable to take medication beforehand. The ham and cheese sandwiches after snorkeling might be heavy for some people... but I still felt like I wanted to participate again.

出航後、約３０分の航海で目的地に着きシュノーケルをスタートします。案内は英語だけでしたが、安全に関する話が全てだろうと思っていたので、ある程度常識が有ればOKだと思います。注意されたのは「足ひれは海に入る直前まで着けない」の１点で後は特にありませんでした。４歳の娘も顔に水がつくのが嫌いなくせに、ライフジャケットで浮かんでいました。男たち３人は４mくらいの所まで潜って魚たちを見に行きましたが、なにせ、魚影が薄い・・・（この日に限ってのことなのかも？）これが一番の欠点でした。最近のハナウマがどうか知りませんが、大差はないと思います。（ハナウマの様に水は濁ってませんよ）後もう一つありました。船の舵を取ってるおじさんが全く愛想がない。他のクルーはいい人ばかりです（心配なく）。それから船に弱い人は薬は飲んでおいた方が良い場合が有ります。シュノーケル後のハムやチーズのサンドは人に依ってはヘビーかもしれませんから・・でも、また参加したいという気持ちが沸いてきました。

It was the best day for me, as someone who loves snorkeling. The water wasn't as cold as I expected, and the clarity was great, allowing me to see various types of fish. There are quite a few species native to the Hawaiian Islands, so I recommend it to anyone who has experienced snorkeling in other countries.

Also, when entering the water from the boat, you can use stairs, so there's no need to jump off the boat, making it easy for beginners to get into the sea. While waiting to board the boat, I saw a small green turtle swimming by the jetty, so I was hoping to see more turtles, but since the snorkeling spot at Kealakekua Bay doesn't have a beach, turtles don't come close, which was a bit disappointing.

However, I was lucky enough to casually look up while floating in the sea and saw a White-tailed Tropicbird gracefully flying by. It's a bird that you don't often get a chance to see, so this was also a precious memory.

シュノーケルの大好きな私にとって最高の一日でした。

ただ、ラッキーな事に、海でプカプカしながら何気なく上を見たら、シラオネッタイチョウ（White-tailed Tropicbird）が優雅に飛んで行くのが見えました。なかなか見るチャンスのない鳥なのでこれも貴重な思い出の一つです。

The location of the office was quite difficult to find, so I recommend allowing extra time to get there. After receiving a brief explanation at the office, we drove (in a rental car) to Kahalu'u Beach Park to actually go surfing. The waves weren't too high, making it a perfect spot for beginners. The boards were quite large and heavy for beginners.

We paddled out a little way, and when the waves came, the instructor helped us catch them one by one. Everyone was able to stand up and ride the waves.

Additionally, Kahalu'u Beach Park is famous for its sea turtles, and we were able to see many of them while surfing and when we were entering and exiting the water over the rocky areas.

After the lesson, we dispersed on-site without returning to the office. I had a wonderful time.

また、カハルウ・ビーチ・パークはウミガメで有名なところで、サーフィンをしている間や、海に出入りするときに通る岩場でたくさんのウミガメを見ることができました。
レッスン終了後は、オフィスに戻らず現地で解散です。
楽しいひと時を過ごすことができました。

With the MC's sweet singing voice and introductions to the history of Big Island interspersed, there are hula, Polynesian, Hawaiian cowboy, tribal dances, and fire dances, all unfolding in a powerful display on a small stage. It was a wonderful tour that met my expectations. The clarity of the ocean was amazing, I got to see many fish, and the food was delicious. There were no Japanese staff, but they accommodated us without any issues. I would like to participate again. For those who dislike being around too many Japanese people in Hawaii, I recommend this tour as there were only a few Japanese participants.

I just returned from my 11th trip to Hawaii after a year and a half. This was my second time on the Big Island. As for the Island Breeze Luau, my impression is "just okay."

From a show perspective, I prefer the grand performance at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu. There were six male dancers and four female dancers, if I remember correctly. One of the female dancers wasn't that great. Maybe she was still inexperienced?

Regarding the food, the basic luau dishes like kalua pig, lau lau, lomi lomi salmon, ahi poke, and haupia were all very delicious. However, the buffet serving area was quite small for the number of guests (only two spots), and each table had to go up at staggered times. Unfortunately, the table I was seated at was the last to go, and while I didn't have to worry about food running out, I ended up waiting a long time and got really hungry.

As for the location, I stayed at the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel, which made it easy to get there. It was nice to have the ocean right in front of me.

One more thing that caught my attention was the commemorative photo at the entrance. At the Paradise Cove Luau on Oahu, the dancers joined in for a very vibrant photo, but at the Island Breeze Luau, they just had the guests stand there for a picture. The background was just a hedge, making it look like an amateur digital camera shot. Of course, I didn't buy that photo.

So, for those who have never experienced a luau and are only going to the Big Island, I would say it's "worth a try." However, if you're also visiting Oahu, I highly recommend the Polynesian Cultural Center or Paradise Cove Luau.

ショーの観点からは私はオアフ島のポリネシアカルチャーセンターの壮大なやつの方が好きです。ダンサーの構成は男性6名、女性4名だったかな。その中の女性一名の踊りがちょっとイマイチでした。まだ歴が浅かったのかな？

料理についてですが、カルアピッグ・ラウラウ・ロミロミサーモン・アヒポキ・ハウピアなどの基本的なルアウ料理はそれぞれとてもおいしかったです。しかし客の人数に対しバフェをサーブする場所がとても小さく(たったの2箇所)、各テーブル毎に時間差で取りに行かされ、よりによって私が着席したテーブルは一番最後に食事を取りに行くはめになり、食べ物がもう残っていない！という心配は全くないのですが、待たされてとてもお腹がすいてしまいました。

ロケーションとしては、私はキングカメハメハコナビーチホテルに泊まったので、行くのが楽で良かったです。目の前が海というのも良かったです。

あと一つ気になったのが、入場時の記念撮影。オアフ島のパラダイスコーブルアウの時はダンサーの人も一緒に写真に入ってくれてとても華やかな仕上がりだったのですが、このアイランドブリーズルアウはただ客を立たせて写すだけ。しかも背景もただの垣根。素人のデジカメ同然でした。もちろんその写真は買いませんでした。

ということで、ルアウを体験したことがなくハワイ島にしか行かれない方には「まぁ行ってみるのも良いでしょう」程度のお勧め度ですが、オアフ島にも行かれる方は是非ポリネシアカルチャーセンターかパラダイスコーブルアウをお勧めします。

I participated in the morning tour on May 22nd. The Fair Wind boat is located about 15-20 minutes south by car from downtown Kona at Keauhou Bay. The morning in Kona is incredibly pleasant, and driving while overlooking the Pacific Ocean is the best. After parking in the designated lot, I checked in. After showing my voucher and signing the waiver, I received my boarding pass and went to get my snorkel. There was a brief explanation before boarding, and then we set sail. Be sure to grab a seat on the second floor and soak up the sun. The sun in Kona is no joke, so make sure to apply sunscreen to avoid getting burned. I spotted a wild dolphin, but it seems that whales can be seen during the season. While enjoying a light breakfast of muffins, cake, Hawaiian juice, and coffee, we arrived at Kealakekua Bay in about 30 minutes. In the morning, the winds are light, so we mostly use the engine, but on windy afternoon tours, we can enjoy quiet sailing with the sails up. Once we arrived, the captain gave us safety instructions and explained how to use the snorkel before we entered the water. The sun was hot, so getting into the water felt like heaven. I was first amazed by the coral reef forest. Since it's a marine life conservation area, the water clarity is outstanding, and you can see the fish very well. What's particularly impressive is that the depth suddenly increases to about 10-20 meters from the coral reef to the inner bay, so when you go out, you can't see the bottom. The sensation of sunlight pouring down to the deep blue bottom is unforgettable. Kealakekua Bay is the famous place where Captain Cook landed, and it's a historically significant bay where white people "discovered" Hawaii in the 18th century. It is said that Captain Cook's ship was surrounded by 1,000 to 1,500 Hawaiian canoes upon landing. The season when they landed was just the time of "peace and restoration," and fortunately, they received a warm welcome. However, three months later, when he tried to leave Hawaii and returned to Kealakekua Bay due to rough seas, the season had already changed, and he was welcomed by 3,000 warriors. ５月２２日の午前ツアーに参加してきました。　コナのダウンタウンから車で１５~２０分南に下った所にあるケアホウ湾にフェアウィンド号はあります。　コナの朝は超気持ちいいし、太平洋を見下ろしながらのドライブは最高。　指定された駐車場に車を止めたら、チェックイン。　バウチャー見せてウェイバーにサインしたら、乗船券を渡されて自分のスノーケルを取りに行きます。　乗船前に簡単な説明があり、いよいよ出港。　ぜひ２階に席をとって太陽をガンガンに浴びましょう。　コナの日差しは洒落にならないので日焼け止めは必ず塗りって火傷しない様に。　野生のイルカを一匹見られましたが、季節にはクジラが見えるみたいです。　マフィン、ケーキ、ハワイアンジュース、コーヒーなどの軽い朝食を食べながら、ケアラケクア湾には大体３０分位で着きます。　午前中は風が弱いので大体はエンジンを使って行きますが、風の強い午後のツアーは帆を張って静かなセーリングを楽しめます。　いよいよ着いたらキャプテンから注意事項、スノーケルの使用法等の説明を受けて、水に入ります。　日差しが暑かったので水に入ると天国の気分。　まずは珊瑚礁の森に驚かされます。　海洋生物保護区なので水の透明度は超抜群で、魚達もよく見えます。　特に凄いのは珊瑚礁から内湾にかけて１０−２０m程は急に深くなっているので沖に出ると底が見えない事です。　太陽の光がディープブルーの底に注いでる感覚は頭に焼き付きます。　ケアラケクア湾はかの有名なキャプテンクックが上陸した場所で、１８世紀に白人がハワイを「発見」した歴史的な湾です。　キャプテンクックの船は上陸時、１０００~１５００ものハワイアンカヌーに囲まれたそうです。　彼らが上陸した季節は丁度「平和と回復」の時期で、幸運にも大変なもてなしを受けたそうですが、　３ヶ月後ハワイを離れ様とし荒海のため再びケアラケクア湾に戻った時は、ハワイは既に季節は変わっていて、３０００人もの戦士に迎えられたそうです。　彼らはアリイ（酋長ランクの王族）を誘拐しようとして失敗し、無惨にも殺害されました。　残念ながらキャプテンクックのモニュメントには上陸できません。一通りスノーケルを済ました後は、バーベキューを船上で頬張りながらくつろぎます。　ウォータースライダーやダイビング等を楽しめ、ハワイらしく遊べます。　大体お昼過ぎに出港し２０分位かけてケアホウ

A beautiful boat, American-style breakfast and lunch, and snorkeling in crystal-clear waters! Most participants were Westerners, and we were the only Japanese, but it was actually fun to communicate in broken English. However, I was quite disappointed that we didn't see the dolphins we were hoping for... The captain did his best to find them, but it's just luck, so there's nothing we can do about it. Since I do scuba diving, just being on the surface isn't quite enough for me (laughs).

カイルアコナの街も港町という感じでのんびりして良かったのですが、それ以上に、カイルアコナの美しい海底の幻想的な別世界に大満足しました。

Some dishes were delicious, while others made me wonder, "What is this?" but overall, I was very satisfied. As the sun began to set, the full-fledged Polynesian show started. The host's English was only half understandable for me, as I struggle with the language, but the Polynesian show featuring men and women unfolding one after another to the lively music of the backing musicians was breathtaking. From hula dancing to fire dancing, I was captivated by the charm of the exotic female dancers. With wonderful music, enchanting dances, a Hawaiian dinner, and the beach and sunset in Hawaii, thank you so much, Island Breeze Luau. As I passed by numerous restaurants in the streets of Kailua-Kona on my way back, I thought to myself that I was glad I participated in the luau instead of just having a meal at a restaurant. Maybe I am already a Hawaii expert?

今回、私が参加したアイランドブリーズルアウは、カイルアコナの港の横のビーチで行われました。入場時に飲み物をもらい、しばらく待つと、ルアウではお約束という豚の蒸し焼きを土から掘り返す儀式があり、なんともいえない非日常感にようことができました。そのあと、ビュッフェスタイルの夕食の時間になり、大好きなハワイ豚料理（カルアポーク）をメインに、見たこともない料理をそれぞれ皿にもり、動けなくなるまで食べました。おいしかったり、これは何？というもの様々でしたが大満足。夕陽が暮れたころからか本格的にポリネシアンショーがスタート。司会者の人が話す英語は、英語苦手な私には半分しか理解できなかったのですが、バックミュージシャンの軽快な音楽にのって、次から次へ繰り広げられる男女のポリネシアンショーは圧巻でした。フラダンスからファイアーダンスまで。エキゾチックな女性ダンサーのみなさんの魅力にはまいりました。素晴らしい音楽、魅惑のダンス、ハワイアンな夕食、そして、ハワイのビーチと夕陽、アイランドブリーズルアウほんとうにありがとう。帰り道のカイルアコナの街中のいくつもののレストランを通り過ぎる中で、レストランでただ食事しないで、ルアウに参加して良かったと思う自分は、もしかして、もうハワイの達人？

It was my first time on the Big Island of Hawaii. As expected, it was a lava island, and I was surprised by the differences from Oahu. Since I stayed at the King Kamehameha Hotel, the Island Breeze Luau was conveniently held right in the backyard by the beach. Upon entering, I was presented with a shell lei by a Hawaiian beauty for a commemorative photo. People here are even more laid-back than on Oahu. I participated in the Circle of Fire tour departing from Hilo. The departure time was 9 AM, and six of us boarded one helicopter. Naturally, sitting by the window is preferable, but only three people can sit there, and the seating arrangement seems to be determined based on the balance of the aircraft. I was fine, but there was one person who seemed to be struggling. The entire tour was conducted in English. Initially, the staff only spoke English, but there was one Japanese person among them. If you depart from Kona, it costs more to see the crater, but from Hilo, you can take a relatively inexpensive 50-minute tour, which I recommend. ヒロ出発のサークルオブファイヤーに参加しました。参加した時間は午前９時出発。１台のヘリに６名のりました。座る場所は当然窓側がいいのですが、窓側にのれるのは３名で、座る場所は機体のバランスを考えて決まるようです。ヘリに乗る前からドキドキだったのですが、ヘリが飛び立った瞬間から気分は最高潮。眼下に美しいヒロの町並み、そして、レインボー滝も見えました。しばらく森の上を飛んだ後、いよいよお待ちかねのボルケーノの火口が登場します。もくもくと煙が５つあがっていて、そのうえをヘリは旋回します。はっきりと赤い火口がみえました。映画のロードオブリングを思い出してしまいました。ほんと感動ものです。これがみれるのはヘリしかない。セスナ機のツアーもあるようですが、セスナ機より断然ヘリです。高度が全然ちがいます。火口のあとは、黒い溶岩の上を通過（途中、赤い溶岩を所々発見）し､チェーンオブクレーター道路の先にある溶岩が海に流れ落ちて水蒸気があがっているところをみて、帰路につきます。着陸は思いのほかソフトで､すごい乗り心地がよかったです。ただ、酔いそうな人は酔い止めを飲んでおくといいと思います。ヘリの右側と左側に座っている人に見せるため､途中右旋回と左旋回で､火口を見せてくれるのですが､その方向転換の時、けっこう気持ち悪いです。私は平気でしたが､１人やばそうな方がおられました。ツアーはすべて英語でした。係員も最初英語のみでしたが、途中１人日本人の方がおられました。別に英語がしゃべれない人でも大丈夫です。パイロットもトシさんという日本人パイロットがおられるようですが、こればっかりは運でしょうか。コナ出発だと､火口をみようと思うと費用がかかりますが、ヒロからなら、50分のツアーで比較的安価にいけるのでおすすめです。さらに時間は早い時間にしましょう。なぜなら、火口がメインポイントのため混むからです。そして、午後は雲が発生しやすいらしい。事実、私が参加した９時は２機のヘリでしたが､10時発はけっこう人が並んでました。ツアー中、けっこう必死にビデオとってたのですが、20ドルで買うことができました。このビデオはしらんまにとられてて､車内の様子もたまに入っているので､けっこういい思い出になります。私は購入しました。では、ぜひぜひこれを読んでるあなた様もヘリにのって、赤い火口をごらんになってみてください。すっご
