This was my first experience with my family. Personally, it was my third time, but I’ll briefly outline the pros and cons.

First, the pros:
1. The marina is very close to the points, so the total travel time is short.
2. The boat is large and comfortable.
3. There was a child who gets seasick on board, but since the points are close, I think it was relatively easy for them.

Now, the cons:
1. The explanations are only in English, but I don’t think that will be a problem.
2. The journey is short, so you can’t enjoy the scenery of Kona town.

Depending on the timing, I think the LED lights were strong, and we had a relatively good number of sightings.

I plan to come back here next time as well.

個人的には3度目でしたが簡単に長所と短所を書いておきます。

まず長所
1、マリーナからポイントまでが非常に近くに全行程の所要時間が短くて済む。
2、船が大きくて快適。
3、船酔いしやすい子が同船してましたがポイントまでが近いので比較的楽だと思います。

で短所
1、英語の説明しかないが困る事は無いと思う。
2、道中が短いのでコナの街の景色を眺める事が出来ない。

タイミングにもよると思いますがLEDのライトが強く比較的沢山来てくれたと思います。

次回からもここにしようと思います。

Thank you very much for all your help this time. Thanks to you, the weather was great, and I was able to see the vast Big Island of Hawaii and the long-desired Kilauea Volcano from the sky. I love the Big Island and have visited many times, but this was my first time participating in this tour, which I had been curious about. The bus slowly ascended towards the summit of Mauna Kea, and I could feel the thinning oxygen. During a break, we enjoyed a bento box and warm drinks, and after putting on our warm clothing, we finally reached the top! It felt like a different world! There were people snowboarding on the snow-covered mountain. And the sea of clouds spread out below us! The sun gradually set, and we were able to see a magnificent sunset. The surroundings were enveloped in the evening glow, and I could feel the mana in the sacred atmosphere. From there, the crescent moon and Venus appeared, and as it got darker, the night sky was filled with stars. I've never seen the Milky Way so clearly! There was also a service for warm drinks, and we could take commemorative photos with a high-performance camera against the starry sky. It was a wonderful service to be able to view and download the photos taken during the tour later on the web. I'm really glad I participated. I'm grateful for the amazing experience!

I was hesitant to participate because the price was high, but I really wanted to see the red lava, so I decided to join.

The helicopter with doors had a pilot plus six passengers, while the doorless helicopter had a pilot plus four passengers.

Check-in time is one hour before departure. I parked my rental car in the airport parking lot and paid about $7 at the parking lot exit on my way back. Luggage is generally left at the reception. If you want to bring items like cameras or smartphones, they must have a strap, so be careful. A short strap can be purchased for $2. I brought my smartphone in a waterproof cover with a strap since it couldn't have a strap attached. Long hair needs to be tied up.

Forty minutes before departure, we watched a video about lava and volcanoes, followed by a safety briefing from the staff regarding seat belts and other instructions.

It was my first time on a helicopter, so I was scared at first, but the view of the Big Island from above was wonderful. It rained on and off that day, and there were moments of heavy rain on the ground, but we were able to depart without any issues, and I didn't get wet inside the doorless helicopter. On the way to the volcano, we saw vast macadamia nut fields. I could easily spot the ocean entry from the smoke rising, but I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't see the red lava. Along the way, we circled above the area where the red lava was visible among the black lava fields, allowing us to take photos. They circled so that both sides could take pictures, which made me a little nauseous.

At the crater, most of the surface was black, but I was very moved to see some red lava bubbling. (It was something I personally really wanted to see.)

After that, we returned to Hilo through breaks in the clouds. Along the way, we saw several waterfalls and the streets of Hilo. The pilot provided explanations in English throughout.

The flight lasted just under an hour, but I was very satisfied to see the red lava, adding to the extraordinary experience of being in a helicopter. I also considered a boat tour to see the ocean entry, but based on the activity in August 2017, it seemed that the ocean entry wasn't flowing with a lot of red lava, so I felt glad to have participated in this tour where I could directly see the red lava inside the crater.

荷物は基本受付に預けて置いていきます。
カメラやスマホなど持ち込みたいものはストラップ付きでないと不可なので気をつけて。
短いストラップが2ドルで買えます。
ストラップのつけられないスマホはストラップ付きの防水カバーに入れて持ち込みました。
長い髪は束ねる必要があります。
出発時間の40分前から溶岩・火山に関するビデオを見た後に係員によるシートベルトなどの説明がありました。

ヘリコプターが初めてだったので最初は怖かったけど上空から見るハワイ島の景色はとても素敵でした。
この日は雨が降ったり止んだりで、地上では一瞬強い雨の時もあったけど問題なく出発できましたし、ドアなしでも機内で濡れることはなかったです。
ボルケーノに向かう途中では広大なマカダミアナッツ畑が見れました。
オーシャンエントリーは立ち上る煙で遠くからすぐわかりましたが赤い溶岩は見えなくて少しがっかり。
途中、黒い溶岩の大地の中で赤い溶岩が見えているところの上空を旋回して写真を撮らせてくれたりしました。左右どちらに乗っても撮れるように旋回してくれたので若干酔いました。
火口では表面の大部分が黒いですが、一部赤い溶岩がふつふつと動いているのが見れてとても感動しました。
（個人的にとても見たかったものなので）

その後は雲の切れ間を通りヒロへと帰還。
途中いくつかの滝を見たりヒロの街並みが見れます。
パイロットが英語でひたすら説明してくれます。

合計1時間弱のフライトでしたがヘリコプターという非日常に加えて念願の赤い溶岩が見れて大満足でした。
オーシャンエントリーが見られる船のツアーとも迷いましたが2017年8月の活動の様子だとオーシャンエントリーではがっつり赤い溶岩が流れてくるというわけではなさそうな感じがしたので火口の内部の赤い溶岩を直接見ることができたこのツアーに参加して良かったと思いました。

I had missed the chance to see manta rays in Palau and Ishigaki Island, so I joined the tour with the hope that this time I wouldn't miss out. My family was actually quite skeptical, thinking it might be impossible. However, I’m really glad I went! On that day, three manta rays came to us, and they turned around multiple times, which was just amazing! This was the best memory from my experience on the Big Island. I hope everyone can have a wonderful experience at Manta University as well. If I have the opportunity to go back to the Big Island, I would love to participate again.

It feels like a friendly couple runs this place. Since we were supposed to gather at 9, I arrived 10 minutes early, but no one was there. The couple showed up right on time. We departed at 9:30, and they told us to eat bananas and macadamia nuts while we waited. I was worried about being able to ride the horse, but it seemed well-trained, so I had nothing to worry about. I had a very enjoyable time. I had previously looked at the scenery from above the valley, but this was a valuable experience that you can only appreciate by going down.

Oh, the restroom is extremely dirty. It stinks! So, I strongly recommend taking care of that before arriving at the meeting point. There is a public restroom at the Waipi'o Valley lookout, so it's a good idea to use that. It's not clean either, but it's much better than here.

Also, after the horseback riding, the couple leaves the customers behind to go for lunch. That was refreshing in a way.

それと、夫婦は乗馬が終わったら
ランチに行くのでお客を置いて行ってしまいます。
それも、なんか新鮮でしたよ。

My 7-year-old daughter, my nephew, and my grandfather all participated. Since my daughter had ridden horses once in Hokkaido, she had some understanding of the process, but everyone was very satisfied as they were able to ride more than they expected. Unlike in Japan, where the instructor walks alongside holding the reins, here the instructor was also on horseback. At first, my daughter had some tears because she couldn't lift the horse's head well, but after a while, she seemed to be doing well.

説明はもちろん英語だったので、ちんぷんかんぷんだったようですが、、、、
ただ、集合場所がわからなく、30分前に到着しよう思っていたのですが、迷子になり開始時刻に到着。先に到着されていたみなさんに迷惑をかけてしましました。
もっと詳しく集合場所がわかるといいです。
お天気も、、、中止か、、とおもうくらいの雨でしたが決行されました。最後には雨は上がったのですが、、持ち物にお天気によりカッパ必要とあれば持たせていたのに、、と思いました。

私は赤ちゃんと母と別のツアーに参加していましたが、乗馬体験の時間といい感じで組み合わせることができ、お迎えにもきちんいくことができましたよ。

娘は、次も乗馬に参加して走ってみたい、、といっています。

We were picked up in front of the condominium at 3 PM and headed to the summit after picking up four groups. The weather down below was sunny and cloudy, and as we climbed, the clouds thickened, making us uncertain if it was really clear. However, near the summit, it was perfectly clear, above the clouds.

I had heard that the sunrise was wonderful, but due to timing, we opted for the sunset, which was also quite magical and enjoyable. The altitude at the summit of Mauna Kea is a bit breathless, so it might be tough for those around middle school age.

After the sun set, we descended a bit for stargazing. Unfortunately, there were quite a few clouds, and the moon was too bright, which was a bit disappointing. However, there was a thorough explanation of the constellations, which was satisfying. We were able to return to the hotel by a little after 10 PM.

Overall, it was a satisfying activity. The time spent was long, from the afternoon to the evening, allowing us to enjoy the day. If you manage the time difference well, you might also be able to enjoy the sunrise.

午後3時にコンドミニアム前にお迎え、此処から4組をピックアップして山頂に向かいました。下での天候は晴れ、曇りで、登るにつれて雲が厚くなり、本当に晴れているのか不安でしたが、山頂付近は快晴、雲の上でした。
朝日が素晴らしいと聞いておりましたが、時間の問題で夕陽にしましたが、こちらもなかなか幻想的で良かったです。マウナケアの山頂は少々息が切れる高度ですので、中学生位まではきついかも。
日が沈んで少し下山して、星空観測。こちらは雲が少々多いのと、月が明る過ぎたので、ちょっと残念。でも丁寧な星座の説明もあり、満足。夜10時過ぎにはホテルに戻れました。
全体として満足のいくアクティビティでした。時間も午後～夜までと長く、一日楽しめました。時差を上手に使うと朝日も楽しめるかも知れないです。

On August 1st, I participated with six people, including two children. I think there is a need for improvement in guiding to the seats, but the buffet food was delicious, and the luau show was enjoyable with various performances like hula dancing and fire shows. I thought three hours from 5 PM to 8 PM would be long, but with the meal, the show, and the sunset along with the natural setting, I was able to enjoy it without getting bored.

This was the best idea we had to add to our Hawaiian vacation. I felt very lucky that my family of 3 had a private tour via the ocean from a native. Chris was AWESOME. Super nice. Shared a lot of Hawaiian culture with us. That alone was great but it was even better to get our lesson on sea while looking back at the island. Totally totally worth it. I visited the Big Island of Hawaii on a mother-daughter trip because I wanted to show my 13-year-old daughter the great outdoors and the starry sky. Due to our fixed schedule, we were unable to see the starry sky as we had hoped, especially since it was the day after the full moon and July has long days. However, I was very moved by the sunset from the summit. I was also surprised to see the magma from Kilauea Volcano coloring the sea of clouds orange.

Our guide, Jin, was highly professional and made every effort to ensure we had the best tour possible under the limited circumstances. He secured the best spots at the summit, arranged for us to take photos with a rare moonbow on the way down, and even made a stop on the way back when the clouds cleared a bit to show us the starry sky. Overall, it was a very satisfying tour, and I would like to try to see the starry sky again.
