It was my first time on the Big Island, so I decided to immerse myself in the Hawaiian atmosphere by participating. There were hardly any Japanese people, and I didn't understand much of what was being said, but I enjoyed the show itself. The meal was BBQ, which was decent, but the portions were generous, and the drinks were all-you-can-drink, with the Mai Tai being delicious. Since we participated on the first day we arrived, my child was half asleep, but it seems they were satisfied with the meal. The luau show offers a great taste of Hawaiian culture, so I recommend participating at least once.

We visited with our family of three (10-year-old boy) on March 27, 2013. The water was very clear, and we were able to see many tropical fish. However, since the water temperature wasn't very high, it was too cold for long snorkeling sessions. But we had a great time with activities like the slide and jumping from the Fair Wind boat, which were fun for the kids. Additionally, since breakfast and lunch were included, we were able to make good use of our time before and after the tour, which was very nice.

水の透明度も高く、熱帯魚を沢山見ることができました。
ただし、水温があまり高くないため、寒くて長時間のシュノーケンリングは無理でしたが、滑り台や、フェアウィンド号からのジャンプなど、子供にとっては楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。
また、朝食、昼食付きだったので、ツアー前後の時間を有効に使えて、とても良かったです。

I participated on March 27th.
There are many tours to swim with dolphins in the ocean, but I highly recommend Kalena Nai'a LLC dba Kona Ocean Experience!!
Since it's a small group, even if we encountered other tour groups in the ocean, Mika raised her hand to show us where she was, and Dennis kept an eye on everyone, which made us feel safe.
Also, being in a smaller group allows for more flexibility, so we could move efficiently.
We not only swam with dolphins but also had fun swimming with manta rays and tropical fish. The family we were with wanted to see whales, and Dennis helped us find them, so we were able to see a mother and calf whale. It was moving when the whale came close and spouted right in front of us, swimming under the boat.
Like in movies or Disney, flying fish created an arch and jumped in front of the boat, dolphins spun joyfully, and manta rays swam gracefully. It was truly a wonderful experience. Thank you!!

映画やディズニーのように飛び魚がアーチをつくってボートの前を飛んだり、イルカが楽しそうにスピンして飛んだり、マンタが悠然と泳いできたり、本当に素敵な体験をさせていただきました。ありがとうございます‼

I was drawn to the phrases "rafting" and "lava cave," so I decided to participate. When I arrived at the meeting place, there were about 30 people, all foreigners. There wasn't much explanation, and we were quickly divided into two groups and taken to the nearby boat launch, where we set off immediately.

As we headed out, the captain provided some safety instructions, but for Japanese participants, they handed out a manual saying, "Please read this." Once we left the bay, we sped up significantly, and the waves were quite high, causing the boat to bounce a lot, which was quite thrilling.

On our way to Kealakekua Bay, we saw about four or five dolphins, but swimming with them was prohibited, which was a bit disappointing. We had about an hour and a half for snorkeling, but the water temperature was low, and I didn't swim for even an hour. It seemed like the foreigners had a different tolerance for the cold, as they went back in to swim again after eating sandwiches.

On the way back, we encountered quite a few dolphins, and seeing them swim alongside the boat was a highlight. The speed increased even more, making it quite a challenge to hold on, but it was also a fun experience.

We stopped the boat near the cliffs, and they explained various things about the rock formations, but we didn't go through any caves, which was very disappointing. Overall, I think it was an interesting activity, thanks to the staff's attentiveness.

シュノーケリングは、1時間半くらいの時間がありましたが、水温が低く、1時間も泳ぎませんでした。外国人は皮膚感覚が違うのか、サンドイッチなどを食べた後でもまた泳ぎに行っていました。
帰りにもかなりのイルカに遭遇し、ボートに並走する姿は中々見所がありました。スピードも更にアップし、踏ん張るのが大変でしたが、これも楽しい経験でした。

岸壁近くでボートを止め、岩の形がどうのとか色々と説明してくれましたが、洞窟をくぐるようなことはなく、これは非常に残念でした。
その他は、スタッフの気遣いもあり、面白いアクティビティだと思います。

There were 10 participants, and we were the only Japanese among them; the rest were from the mainland United States.

I wasn't sure what Ocean Rafting would be like, so I thought we would be rowing with paddles ourselves, but it turned out to be a thrilling tour on an engine-powered rubber boat. Right from the start, we made sharp turns as we headed out to sea, and there were moments when it felt like we were about to hit the cliffs, which was quite exhilarating. The captain was very enthusiastic, chasing whales and weaving under skydivers. We went out to sea multiple times, using sonar to search for whales. Thanks to that, we were able to do whale watching several times, but by the end, my backside was quite sore, and I was feeling like, "Okay, that's enough!" After snorkeling, lunch included fruits and snacks, and the sandwiches were quite good, making it a fun experience. There were two of them, the captain and a female assistant, and they were very efficient in preparing the snorkeling gear and lunch, which made everything feel pleasant.

オーシャンラフティングってどういう風なのかわからなかったので、自分たちでオールでこいだりするのかと思ていたのですが、、、エンジン付きゴムボートでビュンビュん飛ばすツアーでした。最初から沖へ出るときに急旋回したり岸壁にあたりそうになって急停止したりとスリル満点。。。クジラを追いかけたりスカイダイバーの下をすり抜けたりとキャプテン（船頭さん）はサービス精神旺盛でした。クジラを追いかけ何回も沖に出て、ソナーを駆使し探しました。おかげで何回もホエールウぉッチングできましたが、、、最後はかなりお尻が痛くてもういいよぉ〜って感じもなきにしもあらず。。。。シュノーケリングの後の昼食はフルーツありスナック菓子あり、、、サンドイッチもなかなかで楽しかったです。キャプテンと助手の女性の二人でしたがシュノーケリングの際の用具の準備やお昼の準備など手際もよく気持ちよかったです。

In February 2012, I was deeply impressed, and on February 14, 2013, I came back again. It was me, my 89-year-old grandmother, my 67-year-old self, my 65-year-old wife, and my 60-year-old brother-in-law who is retiring this February. We had a wonderful time.

This year, just like last year, we stayed for two nights in Hilo, three nights in a condominium in Waikoloa, and three nights in Waikiki. Unusually, I fell ill this time and just recovered yesterday (February 13).

We were able to see whales again, and I was particularly moved by the dolphins' welcoming behavior. When the boat arrives near the snorkeling spot, a large number of dolphins come to greet us and support the boat until it stops. They even see us off partway on the way back (it’s unbelievable).

We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and lunches, saw beautiful corals and fish, and had a great time with friendly foreigners. This time, we were the only Japanese family, but the foreign tourists seemed to be having a great time, which made it very comfortable for us.

The water was cold, so my wife said, "Next time, I want to come in spring or summer." I promised to include some photos this time, but they are all taken from the video (Sony). Speaking of videos, the staff here have professional video skills. They used wonderful Sony equipment. They even film underwater, which makes for great memories.

Last time, I bought a video (DVD) and enjoyed it, so this time I had one sent for my brother-in-law. This tour is highly recommended as it can be enjoyed by everyone from babies to the elderly.

今回も【鯨】も見えたし、特に【イルカ】の歓迎振りには感動ずくめです。
シュノーケルスポット近くに船が来ると、大勢で出迎えに寄って来て舟が止まるまでサポートしてくれます。
帰りも途中まで、お見送りです。(信じられない程)
美味しい、朝食と昼食を食べ、綺麗なサンゴと魚を見てフレンドリーな外国人？と楽しんで最高！！
今回、日本人は我々ファミリーだけでしたが、外国人？観光客は皆、思い切り楽しみに来ている様子で一緒にいてとても気が楽です。
水は冷たかったので妻は『今度は、春か夏に来たい』と言っています。
前回お約束の、写真何枚か入れますが、全部ビデオ(ＳＯＮＹ)から写真にしたものです。
ビデオと言えばここのスタッフのビデオ技術はプロだ。
機材はＳＯＮＹの素晴らしいのを使っていた。
海中でも撮影してくれるので記念になります。
前回もビデオ(ＤＶＤ)を買って楽しんだので今回も、義弟のために1本送ってもらった。
このツアーは赤ちゃん～年配者まで充分に楽しめてお勧めです。

It was great. As soon as we got out to the ocean, we spotted a mother and a baby whale. We were there for a couple of hours, and we probably saw 5, 6 whales. The staff and the captain did a great job catering all the guests (maybe about 30 of them on board). The naturalist explained a lot about the humpback whales, and it was very educational.

I'd highly recommend this one. It's very family friendly also, and the little kids were very excited to see the real whales in the ocean.

I participated in this tour with a friend during my first trip to Hawaii Island. In the morning, we made our way to the meeting point at the port, and when I mentioned that I wasn't very good at English at the reception, they provided me with an explanation sheet in Japanese. The entire tour was conducted in English, but the guide was friendly and taught us while we referred to the sheet, so I enjoyed it.

All the other participants were foreigners, and since my English skills were limited, it was difficult for me to join in the conversation. However, everyone was very friendly and communicative, which made it fun. The tour itself was on a boat without facilities like restrooms, and it went quite fast, bouncing along the way. Therefore, those who are prone to motion sickness might feel unwell. It was physically demanding, but the sea air and wind were pleasant, and as someone who loves attractions, I felt great.

It was almost my first time snorkeling, but they provided floatation devices, so I was able to swim. The water was very clear, and I was moved to swim with colorful fish and coral. At one point, we got back on the boat and were able to enjoy light snacks like sandwiches, fruits, and juice. I was glad to have a bath towel at that time.

Since it was late February, it could be a bit chilly, so it might be good to have something to wrap around you depending on the season. During the tour, we encountered a pod of wild dolphins and saw whales, which was thrilling and very satisfying. This is an active tour where you can fully experience the nature of Hawaii Island!

なので乗り物にとても酔いやすい方は酔ってしまうかもしれません。体力もつかいました。しかし海の空気や風が心地よく、アトラクション好きの私にとってはとても気分がよかったです。シュノーケルはほぼ初めてでしたが浮き用具を貸してくれるので、泳ぐことが出来ました。
海の透明度は高く、サンゴや色とりどりの魚達と泳ぐことが出来、とても感動しました。
途中でボートに上がり、スナックやサンドウィッチ、フルーツ、ジュースなどの軽食をもらうことができます。その時にバスタオルがあって良かったです。
2月下旬だった為か少し寒い場合があるので、時期によってはおる物があっても良いかもしれません。ツアーの途中では野生のイルカの群れに遭遇したり、クジラを見たり、大興奮、大満足でした。ハワイ島の自然を体全体で感じることが出来るアクティブなツアーです！

In late February, I went on a trip with a friend, and we decided to join this tour to see the beautiful ocean of Hawaii Island up close. Since we were staying in Kona, we called a taxi to our hotel and headed to the designated meeting point, which was about a 10-minute drive away.

There were about 14 people in total on the tour, including us, and everyone except us was a foreigner. The guide spoke entirely in English, but at the beginning, they provided a Japanese guide, so we could follow along during the tour. The staff kindly explained what was happening, which helped us understand everything clearly, and we had a great time.

This tour involved ocean rafting on a rubber boat, which meant the boat rocked quite a bit. It was so intense that if you weren't holding on to something, you might feel like you could fall off. It might not be suitable for those who get seasick, but I found it very thrilling and was extremely satisfied. Along the way, we encountered schools of dolphins and even whales multiple times, which left us in awe of nature's grandeur.

At the first stop, we snorkeled for about an hour, and after a break, we enjoyed another hour of snorkeling at the second stop. The turkey sandwiches, snacks, and cut fruits served during the break were delicious, and we were very satisfied.

Needless to say, the water's clarity was outstanding, and we were able to see over 20 different types of fish. Overall, the travel time was long, and we couldn't relax much on the boat, so it was a bit tiring, but I think it's a wonderful tour to experience the great outdoors of Hawaii Island.

ツアー客は私たちを含め全部で14人ほどで、私たち以外は全員外国人でした。ガイドは全て英語でしたが、初めに日本語ガイドをくれたので、それを見ながらツアーに参加し、スタッフさんも今はここの説明をしているのよなどと親切に教えてくれたので、内容もしっかり理解することができ、とても楽しめました。
このツアーはゴムボートで激しく海を走り抜けるオーシャンラフティングなので船がとても揺れます。どこかにつかまっていないと船から落ちてしまいそうになるぐらい激しい揺れなので、船酔いなどされる方にはあまり向いていないかもしれませんが、とてもスリリングで私自身は大満足でした。途中でイルカの群れや、クジラに何度も遭遇することができ、自然の壮大さに圧倒されました。
1つ目のポイントでは1時間ほどシュノーケリングをし、休憩をはさんで2つ目のポイントで再び1時間ほどシュノーケリングを楽しみました。休憩中に出されたターキーのサンドイッチやスナック菓子、カットフルーツはとても美味しくて大満足でした。
言うまでもなく、海の透明度は抜群で、20種類以上の魚を見ることが出来ました。
全体的に移動時間が長く、船上ではゆっくり出来ないので少し疲れますが、ハワイ島の大自然を体験できる素晴らしいツアーだと思います。

This time, we participated for our 2nd honeymoon.

We came to Hawaii for our wedding six months ago and liked it so much that we came back.

The tour really became a wonderful memory.

We encountered a lot of colorful fish in the beautiful sea.

We were the only Japanese people, and the rest were all Westerners. They had such great energy, and it really lifted our spirits.

Although Japanese was hardly understood, we had a lot of fun communicating in English.

It truly felt like Hawaii.

We were lucky enough to see dolphins and even went whale watching. It was the best!!!

I participated in a company trip. On the day of the trip, the wind wasn't too strong and it was warm, which was great. Additionally, we saw more whales than expected, and I was especially moved when I saw a whale dive up close. To keep the participants engaged, the driver occasionally drove a bit roughly for fun, which made for a satisfying experience. I think it's something you should definitely try at least once when you visit the Big Island.

This month (January 2013), I participated with my husband.

On the day of the event, I was worried that it might be canceled due to high waves, but we drove to the meeting point with a rental car.

Regarding the waves, there was absolutely no problem. After signing in at the reception, I changed into my swimsuit. I slathered on sunscreen because the Hawaiian sun can be intense.

Once on the Zodiac, they kept asking if I had applied enough sunscreen. The guide had sunscreen available, so it was okay to borrow some there. In fact, I did borrow it. Thank you!

さて、話が逸れましたが、港からシェラトン方面にずっと南下して、シュノーケリングは、うねりの影響を受けない、ケアラケクア湾で行いました。

シュノーケリングは、殆ど初めてでしたが、浮き輪みたいなものも貸してくれたし、岸や船からも近いし、ガイドさんも見ててくれるので安心感があり、全然怖くなかったです。
色とりどりの熱帯魚がサンゴにかくれんぼしている姿が間近に見れて、大満足でした。ウニ超でかいです。

お腹が空いたら、サンドイッチとスナックとジュースが貰えます。ペロリでした。

帰りは、いるかに加えて、くじらにも遭遇。数十メートルの距離でまで、近寄ってきて、みんな、大興奮でした。

ボートはすごいスピードなので行きはロープや主人にしがみついて落ちないように緊張していましたが、帰りには踏ん張るコツというのを発見しかなりリラックスして乗船できました。


最後は、お世話になったガイドさんにチップを渡しましたが、渡してない人も多数いたので、どちらでも良いですね。気持ち気持ち。

私は寒がりなので、移動中は、タオルとパーカーで風を防御していました。
あと、日焼けが気になる方は、風で飛ばされないように、手で押さえなければならないですが、帽子もあったほうがよいかもですね。

A few days before our tour, the whale sighting rate had been poor, but fortunately, we encountered about six whales and were able to see not only their backs but also their tails and faces. The guide told us that this was not normal and that it’s rare to see so many.

We enjoyed watching the whales, snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay, and having fruits and snacks while watching the dolphins; it was truly a luxurious experience.

There were no showers, but I didn't feel sticky at all; it was quite comfortable. They also provided water to rinse off if needed.

However, there were no restrooms, so I rushed to the restroom as soon as we arrived at the port. There was no place to change, so I had to change in the restroom.

私たちのツアーの数日前まではクジラ遭遇率が悪かったそうですが、幸い６匹くらい出会え、背中だけではなく、尻尾やお顔も見ることができました。ガイドさんにこれが普通ではないのよ。こんなに見られることはないって言われました。

クジラもお腹いっぱい見て、ケアラクア湾でシュノーケルをして、イルカを見ながら、フルーツやスナックをいただいて、至れり尽くせりでした。

シャワーはありませんが、全然ベトベトせず、サラサラで不快ではなかったです。気になったら流す水も用意してくれています。

ただトイレはないので、港に着いたらトイレに駆け込みました。着替える場所もないので、トイレで着替えます。


とても興奮して素晴らしい時間をありがとうございました。

Canoe surfing was a lot of fun! It is like surfing on a canoe. Our 4 yo and 6 yo kids loved it, too. It does take a lot of effort on the adults part so be prepared to paddle. Our guide was excellet. We had some great conversation while waiting for each set to roll in. It was definitely worth the price for this experience. We did show up when originally scheduled, but the waves weren't big enough so they promised to call us when it would be better to come out. As promised they called us the next morning (they offered a whale watch if the waves weren't good enough before we had to leave). We were glad we re-arranged our schedule to do this. We will probably do it again when we go back.

We proceed in a line through the mountains. My friend, who was experiencing horseback riding for the first time, was very happy and enjoying it. I was hoping to see the ocean from horseback, but we followed a route that went through the mountains, only occasionally catching glimpses of waterfalls. All the explanations during the ride were in English, so Japanese was not understood. Perhaps because of that, the tour guide was chatting happily with the Western families. However, they were very friendly and kind. The reception is at the counter of a gift shop, which makes it a bit confusing, and since it also serves as a meeting point for other tours, it can get chaotic during the gathering. After checking in and using the restroom, I recommend listening carefully inside the shop.

We've done this trip a few time, and it's always great. The food is good. Staff is Great. Boat is still tip top. Had some high surf that limited where we could go, and we had to deal with some of the new regulations by Capt Cook Monument, but the staff was on top of it, and we didn't miss a beat. Well worth it.

It was my first time in Hawaii. I wanted to see the sunset in Hawaii from a boat, so I decided to sign up for an English activity.

We were the only Japanese couple there. However, the other participants and the staff were all very kind, and we had a wonderful time. We even saw wild whales!

The food had a lot of meat. I wish there had been a bit more vegetables. The cocktails and dessert cake were very delicious.

I participated in the monitor campaign with Aran1 and boarded the Zodiac. The tour was a 5-hour trip with a lunch included, departing at 10 AM. We took a taxi from our hotel in Kona to the meeting point at Honokohau Harbor and arrived without any trouble. Besides the two of us, there were no other Japanese participants, and the group was quite international, with members from various countries visiting for tourism. Therefore, all the procedures and interactions during the boarding were in English. However, I don't think those who are not confident in English will have too much trouble, as difficult English is hardly necessary. Additionally, they provided supplementary materials in Japanese during the initial procedures, so I think you'll have a general understanding of what is being said.

At first glance, the boat surprised me as it was just a rubber boat. It was my first experience with rafting, and I was excited to see what ocean rafting would be like, but it was even more intense than I expected, racing across the sea with great excitement. You can experience thrills like a roller coaster, hitting waves and falling off them. However, this rubber boat is said to be military-grade, so it was very stable.

While it's easy to focus on the rafting part, the basics are also well covered. First, we snorkeled in Kealakekua Bay, where Captain Cook's monument is located! ラフティング部分に注目しがちですが、それ以外の基本もばっちりおさえています。まずはクック船長のモニュメントがあるケアラケクア湾でのスノーケリング！水面から少し潜るとそこは一面のさんご礁とトロピカルな魚達がとてもきれいでした。海の透明度も抜群で25mはあるかと思います。1月ということもあり水温は肌寒く感じられましたが、外国人の方々はあまり寒そうではないようでした。しかし、海から船に上がると太陽の日差しがとても強いのでとても暖かいです。というより強すぎるので日焼け止めは十分に塗っておかないと火傷をします。スノーケリング後のランチはサンドイッチでしたが、これがまたおいしかったです。
帰りはハワイ島西海岸の各スポットについて説明してくれました。また、ラフティング中にクジラやイルカの群れを見ることもできお得でした。
ただスノーケルに行くだけでなく、船での移動そのものがアトラクションになっている本ツアーは1粒で2度おいしいというかんじです。とても楽しむことができました。ただし、船にはトイレがないので乗船前に済ましておかないと大変だと思います。またゆっくりスノーケルだけを楽しみたいということであれば大きな船に乗っていくツ

I went to the port without knowing much about the Zodiac boat, and it turned out to be just a black rubber boat with an engine. I was surprised that 18 people would fit on it! Since Hawaii Island is a small island floating in the Pacific, the waves were very high, and I felt a bit anxious about whether we could really go out on this. The cheerful captain revved the engine, lifted the Zodiac onto the sea, and made it glide over the waves. The speed was just like a jet ski. We could tilt the boat and turn just like surfing. Being lightweight, it could do anything! It felt like we were on a pirate ship. Sitting on the edge of the boat, we genuinely flew over the waves like flying fish!

We snorkeled near Captain Cook's monument. The water was really cold!! But it was so clear, and we enjoyed seeing beautiful tropical fish. While diving, I heard popping sounds, as if dolphins were communicating or something. After enjoying snorkeling for a while, we got cold and were the first to get out of the water, but the foreigners swam for over 10 minutes longer without any problem. The lunch on the boat after snorkeling was delicious. Then, the captain took us to a spot where we could see dolphins. I was moved, but after seeing the dolphins swim quickly, I felt exhausted just watching from the Zodiac. I was really glad to be back on land.

You can get the instructions in Japanese, but the language is in English. I didn’t feel like reading the instructions on the boat, so it’s definitely more fun if you understand English. You can really enjoy the cheerful activities with the foreigners.

ゾディアック号がどんな船かよく知らずに港に行ったら、エンジンがついているだけの黒のゴムボート。これに18人乗るからびっくり（<＝すみません）！ハワイ島は、太平洋に浮かんでいる小さな島なので、波がとても高く、ほんとにこれでいくのかいな～、と一抹の不安がよぎりました。陽気な船長さんは、エンジンをブインブインうならせて、ゾディアック号を海の上に持ち上げ、波の上を滑るように走らせました。そのスピードはまさにジェットホイール。そして、サーフィンみたいに自由自在に船を傾けてカーブを切っていきます。軽いからなんでもできるんですね～。こりゃもうあれくれボート、海賊船です。船のヘリにお尻を乗せて座っている私たちは、本気で波の上をトビウオみたいに飛びました！
シュノーケリングはクック船長の碑の前あたりで行いました。水がとってもつめたい！！でもすごく透明で、綺麗な熱帯魚が楽しめました。潜っているとぱちぱち音がしていて、イルカかなんかが交信してたみたいです。
十分シュノーケリングを楽しんだ私たちは、体が冷えてしまって一番に海からあがりましたが、外人さんは平気で私たちより１0分以上長く泳いでいました。シュノーケルの後の船の上のランチは美味しかったな～。それから、船長さんが、「いるか」がいる場所に連れて行ってくれました。感動したのですが、ゾディアック号でへとへとの私は、いるかの高速な泳ぎを見ているだけでどっと疲れが出ました。陸にもどってこられて、本当に良かったです。
説明書は日本語版をもらえますが、言葉は英語。船の上で説明書を読む気がしないので、英語がわかる方が断然楽しいです。まさに陽気な外人さんのアクティビティーが楽しめましす。

An awesome way to spend Christmas Morning! This was part of many firsts for our family: our first trip to Hawaii, first time kayaking in the ocean, first time snorkeling, .... We had a wonderful time. My husband and I shared a Kayak and our son had his own. All of us had a wonderful time. My husband and son even jumped off the cliff! My only disappointment was I wish I had some photos of us during the experience.
