My trip to the Big Island always includes this snorkeling cruise.

First, we enjoyed a breakfast of fresh fruits and muffins. Along the way, we encountered whales and dolphins, and then headed to Captain Cook's destination. We had a fantastic time snorkeling in the beautiful sea and indulged in a BBQ lunch with hamburgers on board.

During snorkeling, even though I was in shallow water up to my knees, the current was strong, and I was swept away, becoming a feast for sea urchins. Thanks to my fins, I managed to protect the soles of my feet, but I ended up with 30 spines in my left ring finger, 20 in my right index finger, and countless others that I discovered later. I thought I had to remove them right there, so I endured the pain and pulled them out, somehow making it back to the boat. I was pushed back by the waves multiple times, leaving my knees and thighs covered in cuts and bruises, and I had significant bruising on my ribs, but the pain from the sea urchin stings was unbearable. My left ring finger swelled up black and was completely immobile, and even a light touch caused excruciating pain... the power of the sea urchin is terrifying.

The staff treated me with vinegar, which eased the intense pain a bit, but it was still an extraordinary level of discomfort. If you are careful about the current in shallow waters and the sea urchins, you can have a wonderful time!

足ヒレのお陰でなんとか足裏はガード出来ましたが、左手薬指に30本、右手人差し指に20本、その他後から傷口見たら数え切れないほどの長い針が刺さってしまいました。とにかくその場で抜かねば、と思い、痛みをこらえ抜き取り、なんとか船へ戻りました。何度も潮に押し戻されたので膝と太腿は切り傷にアザだらけ、肋骨は打撲とかなりの怪我でしたが、ウニに刺された部分がとにかく痛すぎでした。左手薬指は真っ黒に腫れ上がり全く曲げられず、ちょっと触るだけでも激痛…恐るべしウニパワー…
ヴィネガーが良いとのことで、スタッフが処置してくれ激痛が気持ち和らぎましたが、尋常ではない痛みでした。
浅瀬の潮の流れ、ウニにはくれぐれも気をつけさえすれば、素晴らしい時間が過ごせます‼︎

The meeting time was 7:30, but we were actually called to the boat around 8:00. I guess it's the laid-back Thai time… I was a bit disappointed since I woke up quite early.

The meeting place is very hard to find; it's the building on the beach adjacent to the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort. It feels more like a makeshift hut than a beach house.

The weather was great on the day, and we were able to see whales about 12 times. My mother, who joined me, seemed very satisfied! However, it was quite cold, so having a windbreaker or something similar would be a good idea.

The explanations were only in English, and there were no brochures or anything. They will say, "Look in the direction of the time!" in English, so please make sure to look quickly in that direction!!

When getting off the boat, you will get wet up to your knees, so I definitely recommend participating in a skirt or pants that can be rolled up!

集合場所がとてもわかりづらいですが、ワイコロアビーチマリオットリゾートホテルに隣接しているビーチの建物です。
海の家というよりは、掘建て小屋のような感じです。

当日は天気も良く、12回ほど鯨を見ることができ、一緒に参加した母も大満足の様子でした！
なお、とても寒かったので、ウインドブレーカーなどあった方が良さそうです。

説明は英語のみで、特にパンフレットなどはありませんでした。
「○時の方向を見て！」と英語で言われるので、迅速にその方向を見てください！！

下船時、膝まで濡れますので必ずスカートやまくり上げられるパンツでの参加をオススメします！

The guide spoke English and was very friendly, accustomed to dealing with Japanese guests.

Basically, it's a tour where you enjoy swimming with dolphins and then go snorkeling at the coral reefs of Kealakekua Bay. There were six guests on the Zodiac boat, but it seemed like that was the maximum capacity.

Light snacks included chips and fruits (pineapple, papaya, grapes), and drinks were also provided.

On the day I participated, I was very satisfied as I got to swim with pilot whales and manta rays. The snorkeling at the coral reef and the cave guide were included, and considering that they even chased after humpback whales when it was time to return, I thought it was surprisingly good value compared to tours that just do dolphin snorkeling and head back right away. It's also a plus that it's very close from the Sheraton.

Last year, I participated in a dolphin tour with a Japanese guide, so when I compare the two experiences, I felt a sense of neglect here. Since it was an English tour, I couldn't catch much anyway, and the explanations were brief, plus there was no guide who entered the water with us. However, as soon as we got into the water, there were a lot of dolphins. They came really close, and I could see even the little scratches on their backs clearly. After that, while moving to another snorkeling spot, they looked for whales, and we were actually able to see one. The snorkeling was in a very clear area, and on the way back, they shared stories about the Big Island of Hawaii. I think it would have been even better if I could speak English, but I had a great experience.

This is my second time (the first time I applied directly).
It's difficult to get there on your own, but we go all the way down to Waipi'o Valley.
The horses are well-trained, and you can enjoy horseback riding with a simple lecture.
(They walk on their own without you having to do anything. Haha.)
Since they are living creatures, they stop along the way to eat grass as they please,
and they also take bathroom breaks while walking (which is another memory).
We even crossed a river. It was swollen from the rain a few hours earlier, but the horses moved forward without hesitation.
They also take commemorative photos for you.

Please enjoy the lush green trees, flowers, and horses of Waipi'o.
If you visit the Big Island, I highly recommend it!

We participated as a family of four. Our family was the only group on the tour, and we had one female guide with us. After preparing the saddles, we received instructions on how to ride and handle the horses. Everything was in English, but as long as you closely follow the guide's movements, you'll be fine! The handling instructions were just four basic commands: "go," "stop," "right," and "left," so it wasn't difficult.

And finally, we set off! Along the way, we even challenged ourselves to a canter while climbing up the vast ranch towards the mountains, and when we looked back, the stunning view of the Kohala Coast came into sight. It was a wonderful view, and I'm sure you can enjoy a refreshing feeling.

All the horses are well-trained and safe, but each horse has its own personality. The horse I rode seemed to dislike mud and chose to walk on dry ground, even if it meant staying away from the other horses. In contrast, the horse my wife rode seemed to love water and splashed right into the puddles. While we experienced a bit of the difficulty in controlling the horses, it was a fun time. I highly recommend that everyone try this experience!

[Additional Note]
The wind from the mountains felt cold, so even if it's sunny, I think it's better to borrow a jacket. Also, the horses will walk through puddles and muddy areas, so your shoes might get wet or dirty, so it's advisable to borrow boots as well. Both are available for free.

家族4人で参加しました。ツアー参加者は私たち家族のみ。ガイド役の女性が一人付いてくれました。鞍の装着などの準備が整い、次に馬の乗り方や扱い方の説明を受けました。全て英語ですが、ガイドさんの動きをよく見てその通りにすれば大丈夫！　馬の扱い方といっても『進め』『止まれ』『右に』『左に』という４つの基本的な動きの伝え方だけなので難しくありませんでした。
そしていよいよ出発です。途中、駆け足にも挑戦しながら広大な牧場を山の方に向かってどんどん登っていき、振り返るとコハラコーストの絶景が目に飛び込んできました。素晴らしい眺めです。爽快な気分が味わえるはずです。
どの馬もよく調教されていて危なくはありませんが、各々の馬に個性があります。私が乗った馬は「ぬかるみ」が嫌いらしく、他の馬から離れてでも乾いたところを選んで歩きました。と思えば妻が乗った馬は水に入るのが好きなようで水たまりにジャブジャブと入ります。思い通りに動かす難しさを少々味わいながらも楽しい時間でした。皆さんもぜひ体験してください！

【追記】
山からの風は冷たく感じましたので晴れていてもジャケットは借りたほうがいいと思います。また、水たまりやぬかるんだところを馬が進みます。靴が濡れたり汚れたりすることもあるかもしれませんのでブーツも借りたほうがいいと思います。いずれも無料でお借りできます。

This tour provided a great overview of the island. The stops were timed well for bathroom/stretch purposes. We made a couple unscheduled fun stops/detours which was great. Nate had a lot of info to share amd was very knowledgable. Food was very yummy and Nate even found an orchid shopnfor us to eat at while it was pouring outside. Overall great experience.

Since my accommodation was in Kailua-Kona, I had to make my way to the meeting point on foot. However, the public parking was difficult to find, which made me quite anxious, so it's necessary to check in advance. The tour exceeded my expectations as I was able to see whales up close, which was fantastic. However, the boat does rock quite a bit, so I think those who are prone to seasickness should prepare accordingly.

First kayaking experience♪ 初カヤック体験♪

I made a reservation while I was in Japan, but since I had planned to participate alone in the early morning, the reservation couldn't be confirmed unless there were at least two people. So, I gave up on the early morning option and changed to a lunchtime slot, which was immediately confirmed.
(My husband was hesitant since he isn't very good at swimming) (laughs)
It took about 20 minutes by car from the Kamehameha Hotel where we were staying.
The guide who was waiting for us spoke Japanese fluently, which was a relief for my husband and me since we don't speak much English.
First, we received a lecture on how to ride a sea kayak on land, and then we boarded!
They provided solid support while we got in, and once we started paddling, one of the guides in a single kayak went ahead and checked for safety, so we felt very secure.
As we paddled hard, we realized we had made it out to the open sea, and taking breaks on the kayak was very easy.
There was a bottle of mineral water for each of us, which helped us stay hydrated under the shining sun.
Even though it was November, being out on the open sea with no shade means sunscreen and hats are essential. I wore a hat and a parka, so my shoulders and face were fine, but my lower legs, which I thought I had applied sunscreen on, turned a bit red and got sunburned (sweat). Even in November, don't underestimate the sun on the Big Island! (^◇^;)

After enjoying kayaking for a while, we returned to the starting point to enjoy snorkeling.
Originally, we could have gotten off the kayak and snorkeled further out, but since my husband doesn't swim well, we returned to the departure dock and snorkeled in the bay.
My husband stayed in his life jacket, but the guide quickly noticed his anxiety and lent him a kickboard, which was very thoughtful and made us happy.
I grew up by the sea, so snorkeling is second nature to me. I was really thrilled to be able to take off my life jacket and dive freely!
Actually, during a previous snorkeling tour in Okinawa, I was told not to take off the life jacket, so I was very dissatisfied as I could only put my face in the water.
Being able to dive to the bottom of the bay and swim with the fish was truly enjoyable!
However, I had bought a waterproof case for my smartphone to take pictures of the fish while diving, but for some reason, I couldn't take good photos, which was disappointing. The guide ended up sending me a ton of photos taken underwater!
The photos I attached were all taken by the guide's camera, so even those without a camera can have wonderful memories captured and sent to them!

I was told that the morning tour encountered a pod of dolphins, but I'll save that for next time (laughs).
I don't know if I'll be able to go back to the Big Island (laughs), but I truly had a wonderful time. Thank you very much!

日本に居る時に予約したのですが　早朝に私一人で参加という形態にしていたところ、2名以上からでなければ予約が成立しなかったので　早朝は諦めて主人も巻き込んでお昼の便に変更したところ　即！予約確定しました。
（主人は　あまり泳ぎが得意ではないので二の足を踏んでいたんです）(笑)
泊まっていたカメハメハホテルからは車で20分程度で着きました。
待っていてくださったガイドさんは　とても日本語が流暢で　あまり英語が喋れない私たち夫婦はホッとしました。
まずは　陸上でシーカヤックの乗り方をレクチャーして頂き、いざ！！乗船♪
乗り込む時もしっかりサポートしてくださり　漕ぎ出してからはガイドさんの一人乗りカヤックが　前になり横になって安全を確認してくださいますのでとても安心して乗っていることが出来ました。
一生懸命漕いでるうちに　気が付いたら沖の方まで出ることが出来、カヤックの上での休憩の仕方もとっても楽でした。
ミネラルウォーターも一人一本用意があって　燦燦と輝く太陽の元でのどを潤すことが出来ました。
11月とはいえ　遮るものがない海の上ですから日焼け止めクリームや帽子などは必須です。帽子とパーカーを着てたので肩と顔は大丈夫でしたが　日焼け止めを塗ったはずの膝から下は　ちょっと赤くなって日焼けしちゃいました（汗）11月とはいえハワイ島の太陽を侮るなかれ！！でした（^◇^;）

暫くカヤックを楽しんだ後、出発した場所まで戻ってシュノーケリングを楽しみました。
本来なら　沖の方でカヤックから降りてシュノーケリングも出来るということだったのですが　あまり泳げない主人のために出発した船着き場の方に戻って湾の中でのシュノーケリングとなったわけです。
っで、主人はライフジャケットのままでしたが　それでも不安だったのをガイドさんがすぐに気が付いてビート板を貸してくださって　その心遣いがとても嬉しかったです。
私は　海育ちなのでシュノーケリングはお手の物です。フィンを付け、ライフジャケットを脱ぎ捨てて　好きなように潜らせて貰えたのが本当に嬉しかった！！
実は以前、沖縄でシュノーケリングのツアーに行った時は　ライフジャケットは脱がないようにと言われていたので　潜るというよりも顔を付けるだけでとても不満だったのです。
思う存分　湾の中で海の底まで潜って魚たちと泳げたのは本当に楽しかったです♪
ただ、潜って魚の撮影をするつもりで　スマホの防水ケースを購入して持って行ったのですが　何故かうまく撮影出来ずにガッカリしていたら　ガイドさんが海の中の写真まで大量に送って下さいました！
貼らせていただいた写真は、全てガイドさんのカメラで撮影して送って下さったものですので　カメラをお持ちではない人も素敵な思い出をガイドさんが撮って送って下さいますよ♪

朝のツアーではイルカの群れと出会えたよって教えていただきましたが　まぁそれは次回までのお預けとしておきます(笑)
またハワイ島に行けるかどうかは判りませんが(笑)
本当に気持ちの良い時間を過ごさせていただきました。ありがとうございました！

We enjoyed it a lot. We wish we had gone earlier in our trip so we would’ve had the opportunity to build other activities around what we saw on this trip. James runs this business on his own and he does a lot of research and individualizes each trip to the current conditions of the atmosphere and weather. The photos he took of us were amazing. I could see couples booking this for engagement, honeymoon or anniversary photos. The star gazing was the highlight. We see stars from our house very well but it doesn’t even compare to the clarity of the sky at that altitude. I would definitely recommend this excursion.

My husband and I participated together. Although we didn't encounter the bridging we were expecting (it seems the encounter rate is not very high), we did see a mother and calf whale! (I wonder if they are more commonly seen around Maui??)

The transportation was smooth, and we were able to experience an activity early in the morning, which allowed us to make the most of the rest of the day. I think it was a great schedule. Everyone on board was calling out, "Which direction are they?" as we spotted the whales, enjoying the spouts and tail slaps. The tour captain explained the whales' ecology (in English) and answered various questions from the passengers, which was very educational. It was not stated were We would go to for the Manta Ray night time snorkle. We assumed it would be in front of the SheratonKona and were disappointed it was at the secondary location. We saw one manta Ray for about three seconds and that was it. I would highly recommend going to one that is in front of the SheratonKona because we got back to our hotel and we could see them from the restaurant there!

This was our first trip to Hawaii with my husband and his parents. We made a reservation here to experience the Hawaiian atmosphere on our first day. It's a buffet style, and it gets a bit crowded at first, but it's manageable after a short wait. The ahi poke was delicious. There are two drink stations: one at the back of the buffet line and another to the right of the stage. If you go further back from the drink counter on the right side of the stage around sunset, you can see a wonderful sunset. (There are also ashtrays in that area.) Overall, I thought it was a bit pricey, so I gave it three stars. I felt it would cost around 10,000 yen based on my experience in Japan.

We participated in a 120-minute history and sunset tour with one experienced person and one inexperienced person! We were fortunate to have three staff members: one guide, one support person, and one for photo and video shooting. My companion, who was trying a Segway for the first time, was able to relax and enjoy a great time.

Since it was a weekday, the roads weren't crowded, and we got to ride in places like a botanical garden and an old airport runway that you can't experience elsewhere. The breathtaking sunset was so moving that it brought tears to my eyes, and they took many photos and videos for us. It was truly a fulfilling tour!

I can confidently recommend this wonderful tour to anyone. If you're trying a Segway for the first time, this is a safe choice! 😊

経験者一人と未経験者一人の計二人で120分の歴史と夕焼けのコースに参加しました！
スタッフはガイドさん一人、後方支援一人、写真&ビデオ撮影一人の計三人も付いてくれて恐縮でしたが、セグウェイ初体験だった連れも安心して楽しい時間を過ごせました。
平日だったので道も混雑していなかったし、植物園や昔の空港の滑走路など、他では体験出来ないような場所で走れたこと、感動して涙が出るような夕陽がゆっくり見られたこと、写真やビデオもお任せでたくさん撮って頂いたこと、本当に充実したツアーでした！
どなたにも安心してお勧め出来る素晴らしいツアーです(^^)

Absolutely worth the price, good for all ages!

Obviously the tour does not summon the whales at their leisure, but we saw honestly 10+ whales (maybe some of the same ones) over a period of an hour and a half and it was incredible. I have so many photos that I can’t wait to post on social. Regardless of actually seeing the whales, the tour was not only educational but it was a smooth ride, very fun and friendly and we even used a hydro microphone that picked up the whales talking to eachother around us. It was nothing I’ve ever heard before, they are so loud!! I would recommend the early trip for any older folks (we took my grandma who is 78) and/or any easily motion sick people. Overall completely worth the price and waking up “early” on vacation.

I participated on January 2, 2109. At first, I was a bit nervous, but thanks to Masako's thorough explanations, I had a great time. The 90 minutes spent learning about the church and Hawaiian history, along with taking lots of photos, made for an amazing day. The president's antics were also fun (laughs). I definitely want to participate again.

Also, when I returned to Japan, I received photos and videos from the president, which was really touching—such professional work! The footage was fantastic. Thank you very much.

Since it was a last-minute booking, I couldn't reconfirm until the day before, but I was able to participate without any issues. It takes about 40-50 minutes to get from Keauhou to Kealakekua Bay. During that time, they distribute fins and masks. Many people were snorkeling while wearing floaties or floats (available for rent). Since I had a 4-year-old and an 8-year-old with me, we were able to borrow a large boogie board (with a window to see underwater). It was a bit chilly because the sun was behind the clouds, so we got back on the boat partway through, but we enjoyed watching foreign guests having fun on the slide until the end. On the way there, pretzels and juice were served in the galley on the first floor, and on the way back, fruit was added. The crew also came up to the second floor to distribute snacks. Even though our English wasn't great, the crew made an effort to communicate with us.

This was THE COOLEST snorkel excursion. First they picked us up from our hotel, RAD. They have a marine biologist on board that taught us a lot about the creatures we'd be seeing and the ecosystem which was fascinating. The area they took us to was a gorgeous reef and we saw some amazing fish and sea creatures. The marine biologist was even diving for starfish that he showed everyone and let us pet while we were in the water. We got a good hour and a half of snorkeling and then it was time for a tasty sandwich bar lunch. On the way back was, yes what you've all been waiting for, an OPEN BAR. Those were the best drinks I got on the island. It was awesome, big shout out to the amazing crew.
