Despite taking motion sickness medication, I felt a bit nauseous on the way there. Two of my friends also got seasick.
Since swimming seemed tiring, I borrowed a float and went snorkeling. The water was cold, and the waves made me feel even more nauseous, but the clarity of the sea was amazing, and I could see deep down.
I was expecting colorful tropical fish (like Nemo), but instead, there were various medium-sized fish.
Both breakfast and lunch looked delicious, but I couldn't eat anything at all because I was feeling sick. I couldn't even drink anything, which was really disappointing.
The restroom was spacious, and since I changed right after getting out of the sea, I didn't feel cold.
On the way back, it was great to see a whale. I thought I would like to participate again next time.

A good show, we were sitting back by the food line and the sound was unclear. Several of us at the table were having difficulty hearing the varoius people on the stage talking, causing some of the dancing questionable such as the cowboy. The dance was very good but we didn't understand how it fit in until I did research.
A very good effort by all your people.

Had a fantastic time! Our guide, Jesse, grew up on the island and was a wealth of information about not just what we saw on the tour, but also about other activities on the island. Word of caution: if you book through a third party like we did, after you receive confirmation, call Paradise to verify your group size. We showed up as scheduled to discover that someone (don't know if it was Paradise or Hawaii Activities) incorrectly entered the size of our group as two instead of three. We couldn't take the tour on our scheduled day because the group was overbooked. Luckily we were able to go the next day and Paradise had availability. They took great care of us once the error was discovered, but if you're on a tight schedule, don't risk missing out. Call ahead! Inconvenience aside, this is something you should do and was well worth the cost!!

I participated with my spouse and our 5-year-old son on September 27, 2010. We arrived at the location for check-in at 6:00, and while preparing our wetsuits and snorkeling masks, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset before boarding the boat that was docked nearby.
I thought we would head out to sea, but it turned out we were quite close to shore, right in view of the Sheraton. After arriving, we received various explanations in English before preparing for the night snorkeling. I later learned that the area in front of the Sheraton is a famous spot for manta ray sightings, and the Sheraton is well-known for being a hotel where you can see manta rays.
Near the boat, there were floating devices that you could hold onto, and we swam there using a noodle, which is a stick-shaped flotation device. (They also provide life jackets for those who need them.) By the way, there are stairs in the center of the boat that lead down to the sea, where you enter the water.
My 5-year-old son was quite scared since it was his first time in dark and deep water, but he was able to see a manta ray (though he quickly came back up). He was happy to see other fish from the boat.
That day, there were quite a few manta rays, and they came very close, which was quite impressive. Even though we were told that manta rays do not attack people and that they have no mouths to bite, it might still be a bit intimidating for adults (laughs).
By the way, we were repeatedly told not to touch the manta rays, and since this was explained in English, it’s best to listen carefully. Also, when watching the manta rays, you need to keep your body horizontal and not let your legs dangle down. They were saying "FLAT! FLAT!" in English, but it took me a little while to realize what they meant...
Additionally, there were other fish besides the manta rays, and it seems you can snorkel freely near the boat, so I highly recommend this for those who have never done night snorkeling or seen manta rays before.
By the way, there was no place to change, so I wore my swimsuit and changed in the car on the way back. There is a restroom nearby, so you might be able to use that, but I haven't confirmed it.
Things you should bring include a camera for underwater video recording, a waterproof flashlight, and warm clothing.
Also, I tend to get seasick, so as expected, I couldn't eat or drink on the boat. Those who don't get seasick can enjoy snacks and hot drinks.
FLAT!

They also lend out floaties, so even those who are not confident swimmers can participate with peace of mind. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to see dolphins in the distance!

The luau show was great because I could see various traditional dances☆
Although the seating arrangement doesn't guarantee that you'll get to sit in the front even if you line up early, it seems there's an option to arrange for seats closer to the front for an additional $20.
Since the dances are only performed on stage, sitting closer definitely makes it easier to see. It would be amazing if they could come down from the stage and perform up close at least once...
The event's schedule consists of half luau and dance shows, and the other half is a talk show with the host and performers. I think those who can speak English will enjoy it fully, but since I couldn't understand most of what was being said, I felt like I only enjoyed about half of what I paid for.
The dance portion isn't very long, so I wouldn't particularly recommend it for those who want to see hula or dance shows in depth, but experiencing it in person is a good experience, so it might be nice for first-timers. By the way, the show is dark, so it's difficult to capture footage unless you're using video.

Before we left, the staff and captain performed a dive show from the boat, but right after that, my daughter asked, "Where's my captain? Where did the bartender go? How do we get back?" Other than her worries, the safety was excellent.

I had seen footage on TV of manta rays gathering around light to feed on plankton, but seeing them in person was a completely different experience!
We got incredibly close, almost within reach of them, and it was my first time entering the ocean at night and seeing manta rays up close. I believe this experience holds significant value! We observed while holding onto something like a raft on the water, and since I was at the farthest end from the boat, the manta rays came quite close to me. This is just my interpretation, but perhaps being at the edge allows the manta rays to have an escape route, making them less skittish (laughs).
Here are a few points for those participating:
1. Be sure to borrow a wetsuit. It was the middle of summer, but the ocean at night was still cold. They will provide masks and fins while on land, so make sure to ask for a wetsuit at that time. For those who are sensitive to cold in winter, it's advisable to bring a rash guard or wear two wetsuits for extra warmth.
2. Capture videos instead of still images. Still images don’t turn out as beautifully as in the posts. Flash is completely ineffective. Using a waterproof camera for video or preparing a waterproof case for your camera will allow for better footage. I couldn't post due to storage issues, but the videos turned out really well.
3. If you are prone to seasickness, prepare some medication. Generally, you just float, so even those who aren't confident swimmers can participate in this activity (though it can be a bit nerve-wracking since it's dark at night). Just floating can still make you feel queasy due to the waves, and even though the boat ride is only about five minutes, some people feel sick during the briefing on the water. It seems that standing in a spot where the wind hits you more is less likely to cause seasickness than sitting, but if you're worried, it’s best to take some medication beforehand.
4. All instructions are in English. They will explain not to walk around while wearing fins, to keep your legs horizontal while floating to attract manta rays, that flash photography bothers them, and where the restroom is located. There will be no Japanese spoken, so if you don’t speak English, pay close attention to the actions of those around you.
5. Bring as few belongings as possible and avoid taking valuables. Most belongings are left unattended on the boat, so try not to bring valuables with you.

For someone that had never been scuba diving this was the closest experience to scuba without getting certified. There were both good and bad parts to the experience. We went with another group and while they did snuba we did snorkel and vice versa. It was nice when doing the snuba because u could go down to things u couldn't when u were snorkeling. There were a few drawbacks together. First you and two other people share a single oxygen tank. So in that reguard your lucky if u get 30 mins under water. The second drawback is that you are hooked to the tank by your breathing tube. The tubes are constantly getting tangled around each other and you spend a good amount of time dealing with that. When there is something u want to see the tube prevents you from getting to it sometimes. The third drawback is the price. I think you are better off spending the little bit of extra money and getting certified. You will get more time under water and be able to go where u want without restrictions.

Excellent. To start, we went out on the Sea Smoke, little did we know, this was owned by James Arness (Gun Smoke TV show) and he raced this from LA to Hawaii and beat the pack by 2-days… So we were sailing on a piece of history.
Crew was awesome and extremely hospitable. Equipment was very good; food and beverages were high quality and fresh.
We arrived at the dive spot and it was amazing, sea turtles to say the least. The black sand beach was amazing and really different than the typical white sugar sand that most beaches are made of.
I would recommend this to all skill levels and all ages.
On the way back they sent up the sails and turned the engine off, we enjoyed the speed and stability that 60’ catamarans are famous for.
If you have a chance, don't miss this opportunity to view the Big Island and its beautiful coastline from the ocean… Well worth the 4-hour snorkel adventure and very convenient to find as this is anchored at the Waikoloa Marriot.

I saw a manta ray for the first time! It's huge! I'm so moved.
I'm excited!
I recommend a video camera that can shoot underwater or a digital camera that can record videos.
I participated with a snorkel, but when divers are directly below, the bubbles from their air rise up and make it almost impossible to see. If you use a flash, it reflects off the tiny bubbles and you can't capture the manta... If you shoot video, you can get some amazing footage of the manta doing flips!!!
I read on Alan1.net that you can rent wetsuits, but I didn't see anyone actually borrowing them, and the staff didn't seem to be actively looking for people who wanted to rent them. Another Japanese couple ended up not renting one and looked a bit anxious. I think it's quite cold in the water for slim people. I was shivering from the cold after getting out (we participated at the end of June). A large bath towel and thick sweatshirt are essential. Also, although I don't think it will happen, there were about 30 people on the boat, and luggage was placed carelessly, so it's safer not to bring valuables as much as possible.
I definitely recommend this for anyone who loves aquariums!!

I went last week!
It was a tour that I was completely satisfied with. On the day we participated, my group was the only one made up of Japanese people. Most of the other guests were from the mainland United States. There were mostly couples, families, and groups participating.
We received safety instructions for snorkeling, but we were given a paper written in Japanese, so I think even those who are worried about the language can participate with peace of mind. Also, the staff and the surrounding guests all had a friendly atmosphere, so even if you don't speak English well, you can communicate with simple words and have a good time.
I think it's okay for those who are not confident in swimming to participate. On this tour, there were people enjoying themselves while floating on inflatable rings.
I recommend this tour for the morning since the waves are calmer then. Even in the morning tour, the waves do get a bit higher in the latter half.
It was a very enjoyable tour, but I got seasick on the way back. It takes nearly 30 minutes from the snorkeling point to the port, so you might feel nauseous. I recommend bringing motion sickness medication. Even if you don't have any, if you tell the staff, they will make ginger ale to help alleviate the nausea.
For snorkeling, I was lent a prescription snorkeling set. It's recommended for those who wear glasses.
Everyone was able to return to their childhood, jumping into the sea and enjoying snorkeling, having a great time. Other guests were also frolicking like children. I definitely recommend participating as a group and having fun together.
The water was clear down to the bottom, which was impressive. There were many sea urchins at the bottom, and I was able to see cute fish as well. The seawater was warm, which was also nice.

This was a a lot of fun and I am really happy that we decided to do this tour. It was wonderful to be able to go deeper into the water than just plain snorkeling and we were able to see so many fish and marine creatures. Thank you again!

The Hawaiian breeze was pleasant, and I had a wonderful time on the water. There was plenty of time for snorkeling, and the lunch was delicious. While there wasn't anything particularly unique about the experience, it's perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy the Hawaiian sea.

We were so comfortable! It was amazing. If you are scared, my dad made it with just one arm and at 74 years young. You can do it too! We will tell all our friends!!

I participated on May 20th.
First, the reception desk was set up in front of the Body Glove boat. Staff members arrived a little before the meeting time. It seemed there were no staff who spoke Japanese, but everyone was very gentlemanly and friendly, and they kindly listened even to my broken English, which was helpful.
We encountered a pod of dolphins right after departure. I think there were about 20 of them. It was my first time seeing wild dolphins, and I was moved. By the way, we encountered them again at the same spot on the way back, so they might always be there during this time of year.
After that, it took about 40 minutes to reach the snorkeling point. There was guidance in English along the way, but I couldn't catch it because it was too fast. However, they showed us a Japanese explanation sheet, so it was not a problem at all.
You can enjoy snorkeling for over two hours at a depth of about 5 to 10 meters where there are coral reefs. The water was a bit cold and somewhat chilly, but the visibility was high and there were many fish, so I had a great time. There seemed to be life jackets available, but I was strongly recommended to use a noodle, which is a long foam float, and when I tried it, it was indeed easy to use. Of course, they also lend you a snorkel and fins.
As for meals, as soon as you get on the boat, you can freely take breakfast (bread, muffins, fruit, drinks), and when you arrive at the snorkeling point, lunch (bread, ham, vegetables, potato chips, drinks, etc., all of various kinds) is provided, which you can also eat freely. The taste was just average, but I thought it was good that there were various options.
We were the only Japanese participants, but I think it’s a tour that is easy to join because the staff is very polite. One point to note is that the boat sways quite a bit, so I think it would be safer for those who are prone to motion sickness to take some medication before participating.

John and I wanted to send this email thanking everyone at Paradise for a once in a lifetime experience on our vacation. We took one of your newer trips which flew out of Kona, over the valleys, drop off in Hilo for the day (with paid rental car), then over the Volcanoes, and back to Kona. We really enjoyed the entire day. In fact we hadn't originally thought we would get to visit the Hilo area since the drive from Kona is a couple of hours. So not only did we get to see beautiful valleys, waterfalls, and running lava from air but we got to explore the Rain forest national Zoo, The Volcano national Park, Rainbow Falls, and Akaka Falls all by land as well. Also our pilot Steve was so informative and friendly he really helped make our day just that much more special. I'm sure he flies the same routes every day, yet you couldn't tell. His passion for the land, and surroundings was contagious. Thanks again, we included some of our amazing trip photos.
