I rode a kayak for the first time, but I went without an instructor. I was a bit anxious about the path to the sea, but I arrived quickly and was able to go to an uninhabited island. A lifeguard helped me when getting in and out, so it went smoothly. It seems like those with good athletic skills can manage without an instructor. Next time, I want to go further away.

Since it was our first time as a couple, I was initially worried about what would happen if we tipped over in the kayak, but it was surprisingly stable, and I had no worries at all. The instructor explained everything very clearly, and they even took photos of us on the uninhabited island, providing excellent service. The weather was great, the sea was incredibly beautiful, and we were able to paddle the kayak well and have fun.

My only complaint was that we had to clean up the canoe ourselves at the end. It was difficult for us to lift it up a slightly elevated hill from the beach, and we had to ask a male companion for help. Even after getting it up, it was tough to drag it to the platform where we had to place the canoe. While I don't mind cleaning up ourselves, I would have appreciated a little more guidance or assistance with the cleanup route and lifting.

夫婦で初めてでしたので最初は、カヤックでひっくり返ったりしたらどうしようかとか考えていましたが、意外と安定していて心配は全くありません。

This time, I was determined to try stand-up paddle surfing, so I quickly made a reservation for my family of four. During the initial briefing, I was surprised when the instructor, Mieko, said we would be going to a nearby island and that we should bring our determination! After a brief lesson on how to operate the equipment indoors, we loaded the surfboards onto a cart and headed to the riverbank, which was about a 10-minute ride to the sea, where we waited for Mieko. This was the first test of our determination! My son quickly got into the stand-up position, but I ended up not being able to stand and managed to paddle while sitting like in a kayak to reach her. Surprisingly, my wife, who has worse athletic ability than I do and was supposed to be the one Mieko was keeping an eye on in our group of about eight, arrived first (ー_ー)!!

After exploring the island for about 10 minutes, we headed back, and I attempted to stand up a few more times on the way back, but I still couldn't do it. I didn't expect it to be this difficult and underestimated it)^o^( However, even sitting down, it was incredibly fun. When we returned to the shop, we had a late lunch and chose pizza, which was very delicious. Barbecue is also an option, but I highly recommend trying the pizza even if you have to pay for it yourself. I realized that this can be quite tough if you have bad knees, but I would like to challenge myself again after getting knee replacement surgery.

今回は絶対スタンドアップパドルサーフィンをやると決めていたので真っ先に家族4人で予約しました。最初の説明でいきなりインストラクターのMiekoさんから今日は近くの島まで行くので根性だけ持参のことと言われてびっくり！！簡単な室内での操作の仕方をレッスン後さっそくサーフィンを台車に載せて10分ほどの川辺から海に出て沖で待つMiekoさんのところまで最初の根性の出しどころ！息子はすぐにスタンドアップ体制になってましたが私は結局立てずじまいでカヤック状態の座りこぎで何とかたどり着きました。私より運動神経が悪く8名程度のグループ内で最もMiekoさんにマークされていたはずの家内の方が結局先に着いてました(ー_ー)!!
１周１０分程度の島を散策したのち帰路につきましたが帰りも数回スタンドアップに挑戦しましたが駄目でした。こんなに難しいとは想定外でなめてました)^o^(　ただ座ったままでも最高に楽しかったです。店に戻って遅めの昼食をピザにしましたが大変おいしいピザでした。バーベキューも選択できますがピザは是非自腹でも食べてみてください。膝が悪いとこれは結構厳しいということがわかりましたが、膝を人工関節に替えて改めて挑戦したいと思います。

First SUP experience...
The day I tried it, there was strong wind and the conditions were poor.
However, along with the others, we were determined and kept paddling (while sitting) towards the uninhabited island, but we lost to the headwind and had to call it a day...
Maybe the instructor understood our desire to stand and paddle, as we got a bit of an extension on our time? We were able to challenge ourselves a little on the river!
The instructor was super energetic and funny, and even delayed our return bus by an hour, which made our afternoon free time shorter!
We had an incredibly fun time!
Next time, we're definitely going to the uninhabited island!!

This was a great beach day at Kailua Beach! We were picked up by mini van right at our hotel and taken to a small plaza containing the water sports store sponsoring the activity. The people in the store were pleasant and showed us the lockers and gave us our vouchers for the included lunch. Also included was the use of boogie boards and beach chairs. The beach is a short walk from the plaza so keep in mind that you will need to carry things with you. Towels not included so be sure to bring your own! The beach itself is gorgeous and clean with that beautiful blue iridescent water! We set up shop under a tree and were happy there all day. There are facilities at the beach. While the food places were open at 10:00 AM, we chose to wait until 12:30 to eat. We opted for the pizza and drink. The pizza was the closest to true NY style we had in Hawaii...we were very impressed! It says one slice however the slice is actually a quarter of a very large pie and they cut it in two for you so it is two good sized slices! At the end of the day we headed back to the store and turned in our beach things we had borrowed and browsed the gift shop. A great day!

The kayaking experience to the uninhabited island was wonderful. Paddling out into the blue ocean by my own strength felt really good. However, the distance from the place where we rented the kayak to the sea was quite long, which was pretty tough. Also, since a lot of time was spent on the pre-activity briefing, the time we had to play with the kayak was surprisingly short. The pizza for lunch was delicious.

While my friends and I were in Oahu, we knew we wanted to go kayaking. We were considering maybe just renting kayaks in Waikiki where we were staying, but we were concerned about just how crowded Waikiki Beach can get. My friend found this kayaking trip at Kailua Beach and we were sold. For about $80 we received kayak rentals, snorkel gear, lunch, and shuttle service. This kayaking adventure was definitely worth it! The staff were all extremely welcoming and helpful, and the water was absolutely beautiful. I am so glad we were able to discover Kailua Beach. When I read that this trip included lunch, I expected a paper bag lunch, something like sandwiches and chips. But in reality we were given a coupon that was redeemable at four locations by the kayaking shop. We chose to have pizza at Bob's, which was delicious and filling. We did this on our last day in Oahu, so it was a great ending to our vacation.

I participated in 2009 and found it very interesting, so this time I joined with my mother. Our guide, Ken, was very kind, taking photos for us along the way and providing various explanations, which made it a lot of fun.

Since there were only a few people, we were able to swim and take our time taking photos at Flat Island, which was the best.

On the way back, instead of taking the shuttle bus, we rented bicycles and went snorkeling at Kailua Beach. The ocean was so beautiful, it felt like being in paradise.

The staff were truly kind and attentive. I will participate again.

Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach are beautiful, calm, and absolutely amazing! The sand is pure white, and the sea is a stunning cobalt blue, almost glowing.

Having experience kayaking in Kauai and Okinawa, my husband and I participated without a guide. It was so much fun and liberating! We enjoyed ourselves at our own pace, doing what we wanted, just the two of us.

What’s interesting about kayaking is that it’s easy to paddle and moves quickly, plus your viewpoint is close to the water’s surface. It feels like you’re one with the ocean, allowing you to enjoy the scenery fully.

We kayaked from Kailua Beach to Flat Island, then to Lanikai Beach, and back to Kailua Beach. Along the way, we took our time snorkeling at Lanikai Beach. There are corals scattered around, the waves are gentle, and we saw various fish. The sand at these beaches is so white and soft, it feels wonderful.

The recommended pizza for lunch was incredibly delicious! On the way back, we declined the shuttle and leisurely enjoyed sightseeing in Kailua. The bus that runs around the island is only $2.50, so if you want to enjoy Kailua town a bit longer, extending your stay is a great idea.

Carrying the kayak to the water is a bit challenging, but it’s a short distance, and I appreciate the American mindset of doing things for yourself and enjoying freely with personal responsibility.

The staff were all energetic, friendly, and pleasant. Thank you very much! If I go to Oahu again, I definitely want to kayak here!

島を走るTHE BUSも＄2.5と安いので、もう少しカイルアの町を楽しみたいと思った方は滞在時間を延ばすのも良いですね。

カヤックを海まで運ぶのは少し大変ですが、短い距離ですし、自分のことを自分でやって、自己責任で自由に楽しむ考え方が、なんともアメリカらしくて私は好きです。

スタッフは、皆さん元気で親切で気持ちが良い方たちでした。

I recommend renting a mat to take to Kailua Beach, which is just a short walk from the tour company. The area under the shade of the trees has branches that can be painful if they fall. You can also borrow snorkeling gear for free, but there are no fish. Many people are relaxing on the beach. The morning is recommended as there are fewer people at the beach.

I rented a bicycle to get to Kailua Town ($10.47 per bike). They provide a map and explain how to get there. It can be a bit scary until you get used to the pedal brakes, but it’s manageable. It takes about 20 minutes on foot. Riding with the wind felt great.

For lunch, you can choose between a plate or pizza, and the staff-recommended spinach and garlic pizza was delicious.

For us, the time spent at both the beach and the town felt just right, though we could have used a little more. The staff could almost all speak Japanese, which was reassuring.

I participated in a kayak tour. Our guide, Hide, provided thorough explanations, and even as beginners in our 40s, we were able to reach the uninhabited island without any help. My arms did get sore, but it was nothing compared to the excitement! The beauty of the Kailua sea and the sense of achievement from paddling there myself! Plus, the guide's fun tour around the uninhabited island made for an experience so wonderful that I lost track of time. The pizza for lunch was also delicious. I definitely want to participate again!

We participated as a couple without a guide. The man who provided the transportation and explained the kayaking was a bit unfriendly, but the other Japanese women gave us kind explanations. It wasn't a problem to go without a guide since my husband had experience. It might be tough for two women. The waves were calm that day, making it perfect for kayaking. However, we did some snorkeling and didn't see many fish. We did see two honu (sea turtles)! It was very moving.

The pickup was loose from the start. Just when I thought I should call after 10 minutes had passed, the ride finally arrived. From a distance, I heard a loud voice calling out, "Hurry up and come here," gesturing with his chin. If I had been short-tempered, there would have been a fight right there. After riding the bus for almost an hour, as soon as we arrived, the Japanese guide spoke so quickly and provided so much information that it was absolutely impossible to understand everything for the rest of the day. The only things I remembered were where and how to exchange for lunch and that our company had four showers. We were handed a special envelope for tips with instructions. The sea kayak guide confidently said, "Even if you capsize, I can right the boat and lift a person weighing 200 kg, so you'll be fine." However, as time passed, despite it being a guided tour, he said, "I'm not going today; only the customers will go." In the end, during the final briefing, the guide decided to join us. It was quite careless. Of course, we had to carry the boats ourselves to the sea. The paved road was fine, but it was quite heavy on the grass and sand. We finally arrived at the beach, and it was a struggle to float the boats and get on. The guide was nowhere to be seen; he was already at the starting point. There was quite a distance from the water's edge to the starting point. Was it our responsibility to get there? Perhaps that fast-paced explanation was for this reason?

In the end, we had to rely on the help of some Americans we didn’t know, and not the guide, to start paddling. Once we finally reached the starting point, it was just a matter of paddling. 　結局全然知らないアメリカ人の手を借り、ガイドではなく彼らの力で私たちは漕ぎ出した。やっとスタート地点に着いたら、後はひたすら漕ぐだけ。ガイドなどいようといまいと関係ない。転覆しないように漕ぐだけだ。無事に無人島に着き、島を一周。ガイドはここであれこれ説明してくれた。帰りはまたひたすら漕ぐ。スタート地点が見えガイドは「私が陸に着いてから漕いで来て」と言う。最初と最後は難しいからガイドが先なのだろうと納得し、言われた通りに漕ぎ出した。どこかで「転覆しても助ける」ということばを信じていたのかもしれない。
　そして私たちは転覆した。すべてのものが逆さになり、右も左も上も下もわからない。でも助けは来ない。船を元に戻す?　体重200kg?　そんなことばが空々しい。
　シーカヤック直前にツアーのその店で買ったばかりの高いシャツも帽子も流された。あまりに頭にきてしばらく海から出なかったらやっとガイドはやってきた。「最低」のことばしか出なかった。本当は「このツアーのすべてが最低!」と言いたかった。砂だらけで水浸しのまま重い船を運ぶ。ガイドなんてずっと先を行ってしまった。店に着いたらとにかくシャワーを探した。4つあると自慢していたシャワーがわからない。仕方ないので聞いたら「そこ」と指差された。腰の高さもない外にある一本の水道管に間隔のない蛇口が4つ。その1つにホースがつながっていた。
　よくビーチの入口にある、砂を落とすためのシャワーは最高級だと知った。目の前にあるものは頭や顔の砂など落とせない。足の砂落としが精いっぱい。そんな状態なのに、朝はあんなに遅れたバスが待機している。早口日本人ガイドは「急がなくていい」と言いながら時計を何度も見てバスの乗り口にピタッといる。ベチャベチャに濡れたまま荷物をぐちゃぐちゃに突っ込み走る。75才のおじいちゃんもいるのに…。忘れ物がないのかもさえ確認できない。こんなツアー、チップなんて必要ないと今でも思っているが、家族は相場以上のチップを専用ポストに入れ、さらに日本土産まで渡し、どこまでお人良しなのかと涙が出てくる。
　人生で一、二番目に腹の立つ思いをハワイでするなんて思わなかった。
　このツアーは、どれをとっても満足できるものは何一つない。

Great and beautiful beach to experience on Oahu for snorkeling but the thirty minute walk to get to the good snorkeling part was unexpected, there should have been a shuttle offered.

most beautiful beach in the USA!!! I had such a great day. I really enjoyed stand up paddle boarding, it wasn't too difficult, anyone would be able to give it a go. it was gentle waves once you pass the crashing waves on the beach, I did go into the surf further out to catch some waves which was great fun!! I also stand up paddle boarded at Waikiki and this was sooo much better than Waikiki. better views, better wave conditions and better equipment. so so beautiful and such a great day. prob my fav activity during my holiday at hawaii.

My first kayaking experience! 初カヤック体験！

It was my first kayaking experience, and I challenged myself without a guide! As a result, we were able to reach our destination island (Free Island) quite quickly, and paddling while chatting back and forth was a fun memory.

Although we didn't have a guide, we were able to watch some explanatory videos beforehand, and we could also observe other people kayaking (like foreign couples) to use them as examples. If there's a man around, you can manage without a guide (laughs).

It became the most exciting and fun memory I have in Hawaii!

結果は、目的の島（フリーアイランド）に早々に辿りつけましたし、
二人であーだーこーだ言いながら、漕いだのは楽しい思い出です。

ガイドなし、でしたが事前のビデオでそれなりに説明は見れましたし、
周りにカヤックをやっている方（外人さんカップルとか）を見て
お手本にしたりも出来ました。
男性がいれば、ガイドなしでなんとかなるもんです（笑）

ハワイで一番燃えた楽しい思い出になりました！

The pickup staff's call was poor, and it seems like it took a long time at each location, which reduced our time on-site. However, the local staff were very accommodating, and we were able to have a great time. Kayaking on the river flowing through the resort area was also enjoyable. I highly recommend it. I would love to come back and take my time here.

ピックアップのスタッフの呼び込みが悪く、それぞれの場所で時間がかかってしまい、現地での時間が少なくなってしまたような気がしますが、現地スタッフの対応もよく、楽しく過ごすことができました。別荘地の中を流れる河川をカヤッキングするのも良かったです。ビザはお薦めです。また、ゆっくりと来たいところです。

Due to local circumstances, I couldn't take lessons directly on the beach, so I took lessons at a surf shop and made my way to the beach on my own. I was really anxious, but at the water's edge, the guide was there to assist me, so I was able to safely head out to sea.

After that, it was incredibly fun, and we went to a deserted island, taking a break to paddle around before returning, which wrapped up the morning session. The second round was tough physically, so it was just right.

For lunch after stand-up paddleboarding, there were several dining options available, and the pizza from a place just next door was incredibly delicious. I would love to go back.

In the afternoon, we had the freedom to choose activities like snorkeling in Kailua or strolling around the town, which allowed me to adjust to my own pace, so that was great.

I would like to use this service again for activities in Kailua next time.

Sup後の食事は用意されているご飯処がいくつかあり、ピザ数件隣のピザがめちゃくちゃ美味しかったです。また行きたいくらい。

午後はカイルアでシュノーケリングやカイルアの街を散歩等自由に選ばせてもらえたのたので、自分の状態に合わせられたので、良かったです。

また次回、カイルアでアクティビティする際は利用したいです。
