I recently visited Hawaii after a long time, and since it was my friend's first trip to Hawaii, I was in charge of planning the itinerary. After debating between a "local guide" and a "niche tour," I decided on this tour.

First, I was surprised that our guide was a woman! Since it was advertised as "West Oahu where no one goes," I was curious about what kind of local guy would show up, but…

There were really no Japanese people at the beach! I felt like this was exactly the kind of tour I was looking for, and my excitement was through the roof. The supermarket was filled with locals, and I loved the feeling of being in an unfamiliar place.

The caves were also getting crowded with tourists shortly after us, so I thought the timing was perfect. The content included explanations of old legends and myths, and the guide took plenty of photos for us, providing thoughtful assistance throughout. She was knowledgeable about animals and plants, and I never got bored listening to her.

We encountered a pod of dolphins around Yokohama Bay, which got everyone excited.

During snorkeling, we saw not only sea turtles but also sharks. When someone shouted "Shark!" and I turned around, there was a shark about a meter long, and I had the incredibly rare experience of swimming alongside it. I was told it was not aggressive, but it was a bit thrilling.

While it wasn't just a random assortment of fish, we did see colorful fish and schools, which was great.

However, the temperature difference in the water made me feel cold before the turnaround point, and I started to feel seasick. The stops for explanations were the worst for my nausea. I apologize for not being able to hear much during the second half as I was battling my discomfort.

If you're sensitive to the cold, it might be a good idea to wear a rash guard during certain times.

But it would have been better if I hadn't gotten seasick… Even if you can't swim and use a float, you still feel the waves while holding onto it… (laughs) It was fine while I was biting down on the snorkel, but the moment I took it out and tasted the seawater, I felt like I was going to gag (though I didn't throw up).

For lunch, it might be better to keep it light or eat something that can be eaten with your hands in the car on the way back (like bread). I bought a poke bowl for lunch, and they kept anything that needed refrigeration cool, so I felt safe purchasing it!

On the way back to Waikiki, I fell into a deep sleep, and by the time I woke up, I had recovered from my seasickness and was ready to enjoy the evening activities.

私は久々のハワイで、初ハワイの彼に行程を任されまして、｢現地人ガイド｣か｢マニアック系｣で悩んだ結果、こちらのツアーに決定しました。
まず、ガイドさんが女性なのに驚き！"誰も行かない西オアフ"ってマニアックな事を謳うくらいなのでどんな地元に根付いた兄ちゃんが出てくるのかと思ったら…！

海も本当に日本人いない！こういうツアーを求めてた！！！って感じでテンションはあがりまくり…
スーパーもローカルしかいない所でこのアウェー感がたまらん！状態。
洞窟も私たちのちょい後には外人さんでいっぱいになっていて、時間のチョイスも絶妙だと思いました。
内容も昔ながらの伝説や神話を交えて解説、写真もバシバシ撮って下さるし細やかな対応で助かりました。
動物や植物にも詳しく、聞いていて飽きなかったです。
ヨコハマベイ周辺ではイルカの群れに遭遇で一同盛り上がりました。

シュノーケリングではウミガメだけでなく、サメにも遭遇しました。
サメだ！の声に振り返ると1mくらいのサメがいて、一緒に泳ぐという貴重すぎる体験が出来ました。人を襲わないヤツと言う事でしたが、ちょっとスリルがありましたね。

手当たり次第魚がいると言う感じではなかったですが、カラフルな魚や群れも見られて良かったです。

ただ…割と水の寒暖差でUターンポイント前には体が冷え切り、波には酔う始末。
説明の為に停滞するのが酔いの命取り状態でした^^;;
後半は自分との戦いでほぼ説明が聞き取れずですいませんでした。

寒さを感じやすい方はラッシュガード上下あると良い時期があるかもしれませんね。

しかし、波に酔わなければより良かったです…
泳げなくてNG！なら浮き輪で戻れても…酔いは浮き輪に捕まっていても揺れますしね…(笑
シュノーケルを奥歯でギューっとしている間は良かったのですが、外して海水の味が口に回った瞬間オエっとなりました(吐かなかったけど。
ランチは控えめか、帰りの車の中で失礼した方が良いかもしれません。(パンとか手で食べられるもの)
ランチはポキボウルを買いましたが冷蔵が必要なものは冷やしておいて下さるので安心して購入出来ました！

ワイキキに戻る間にぐっすりいっちゃったので、起きた時には酔いからも回復していて夕方からの遊びもがんばれました。

I wanted to go to Hanauma Bay with a different tour company than last time, but it seems that the two plans listed on Veltra are from the same tour company. There is no difference in the guide's content between the two plans (only differences in the included fees). I'm disappointed that the plan names are different but it's the same tour company.
The guide was friendly, but I wonder if it's just me who feels a bit frustrated by how Americanized it is...
There was someone who got seasick. Those who can't swim might feel scared as the waves can pull you in. It requires stamina since you'll be swimming for about an hour.

This was my second time in Hawaii, and I visited Lanikai Beach for the first time! The ocean was incredibly beautiful and the clarity was amazing. I also climbed to the Pillbox, and although it was very tiring, I was able to enjoy the best views! I had plenty of time, so I was able to go into the city as well, and it was a lot of fun!

I participated in this trip because I wanted to take my 5-year-old daughter to Kailua, where we went for our honeymoon! I was nervous until the pickup, but we safely boarded and headed to Kailua. There were changing rooms and lockers for valuables, so it was安心 for families with children. The staff were all friendly and kind. My daughter really warmed up and kept talking to Mieko (is that the right name?). I’m sorry for interrupting your work!

We headed to the beach at 9:30 and were able to relax until 3 PM with a lunch break in between. It was quite windy that day, which made things a bit challenging, but we had a really great time.

Next time, when my daughter can ride a bike, I’d like to go to Kailua Town.

My husband, at 66 years old, took on his first snorkeling adventure! I had to persuade him to join, so I read various experiences and decided that this tour was the best choice. It was a great decision. I was worried about my husband, who has nasal issues, when I heard the instruction, "Breathe through your mouth only, not your nose," but thanks to Chieko's excellent teaching, he didn't struggle with breathing and was able to enjoy about an hour of snorkeling without holding back the younger couples. We created wonderful memories with the beautiful sea and the adorable, colorful fish. What is the path to enjoying snorkeling? The path to meeting the fish? Dan guided us along that sea path and helped us meet the fish. I recommend renting a wetsuit as it has many advantages, such as protecting against injuries from coral and helping with buoyancy, as well as keeping warm. Dan took plenty of photos and uploaded them to Facebook, so we could download them to our smartphones. The only disappointment was that we didn't get to see any sea turtles. It seemed that the continuous hour of swimming was tough for my husband, and he mentioned that he was tired and wanted a break.

Being a power spot, it was mystical, and I was able to enjoy the unique scenery of Hawaii. Had a great time the first time, I did it again. I did the same thing, got bicycle and rode to the end of Lanikai beach to find that spot I first saw, a secluded beach to myself. However this year was high tide and didn't have the beach, but still enjoyed to peace and quiet though. From there, I traveled all the back to Kailua, and kept on going north until it was time to go back. Then choose Bobs pizza, cannot go wrong. Will I go back and do this again; for sure!!
Thumbs up again on the great customer service, accommodating their customers, the reason of being in business. You can expand your business by start selling seminars on how to conduct great ethical business practices.

At Kaneana Cave, being a power spot, I felt something mysterious just by being nearby. It was great to have a Japanese guide, which allowed me to ask various questions. Thank you, Akima. I was also surprised by many things at the drive-in and restrooms we stopped at, which left a strong impression. I was lucky to encounter a Hawaiian monk seal lounging on the rocks and was able to observe it slowly. During snorkeling, we also saw a sea turtle resting on the ocean floor, which made the kids very happy. The weather was good, everything went smoothly, and I was very satisfied. The photos taken by the guide were also very nice.

ハワイで新しい体験がしたくて参加しました。西オアフは開発が進んでいないので神話と伝説が残っているハワイの原風景という感じでした。カネアナ洞窟ではパワースポットというだけあって近くにいくだけで不思議な何かを感じました。日本人のガイドさんだったので色々質問でき非常によかったです。あきまさんありがとうございました。途中で寄ったドライブインやトイレなどでも驚くことも多く印象に残りました。また絶滅危惧種のハワイアンモンクシールが岩の上で寝転んでいるところに出会いゆっくり観察できラッキーでした。シュノーケリングではウミガメが海底で休んでいるところも見れて子供達も喜んでました。天気もよく、すべてうまくいきとても満足でした。ガイドさんに撮ってもらった写真もとてもよかったです。

There was a mix-up with the pickup on the way, which led to me having to call the tour company and wait for about an hour, but I was eventually picked up and taken to Kailua. As an apology for the mix-up, they provided a free bike rental, and the staff were very kind and attentive, which was great.

In previous Kailua tours, I couldn't store my luggage, but with this plan, I was able to use a locker, so I didn't have to carry valuables to the beach, and I could leave my change of clothes, which was super convenient. Thanks to the rental bikes, I was able to visit Lanikai Beach and enjoy snorkeling. In the afternoon, I also had a great time shopping in Kailua Town. It was truly a fun day. I would like to sign up for this tour again the next time I go to Kailua. Thank you!

Private Guided Snorkel Tour at Hanauma Bay

I went to visit Hawaii with 3 kids, 10, 11, 14 and did 8 hrs private tour.

I would like to say that it was the most amazing tour I have ever done in my life. From beginning to the end, all of us were excited and were having so much fun.

First, we did snorkeling at Hanauma bay. Guide ( so sorry I forgot his name.....) was so patient with all kids (it was a first time snorkeling for most of us). He taught us step by step and made us feel comfortable in the water. We got to see lots of colorful fish and had lots of lots of fun.

Rest of time, Mark took us many many places we could not even visit by ourselves in Hawaii. Kids call him "Moving museum" because he knows everythings about hawai (histories, stories about things and etc) He answered all our questions and we never heard he said " I don't know"......

Mark took us amazing real Hawaiian food restaurant! We got to experience cool food there!!

We could not see sea turtles at Hanauma bay but Mark took us to the beach where he finds sea turtles often. Well, we found 3 of them! It was so amazing to see them and my dream came true!!!!!!

We all thank to both guys who gave us an amazing experience in hawaii, we learned so much about hawaii history and many stories about hawaii.

We would love to do this again next time we visit there for sure.

This is a must do thing to do when visiting Hawaii especially if you want to see Hawaii's state fish. Dan and Chieko were great .

Only sad thing is that we wanted to stay longer but unable to.

Since it was my first time, I thought there would be many things I would be confused about regarding the entry procedures and access methods, so I applied for this. The pickup was on time, and the instructor was very kind. Also, even though I thought I understood snorkeling, I was taught the basics properly, so I learned a lot of new things.

The fish weren't as abundant as in the Maldives or the remote islands of Okinawa, but I was still able to see many fish, and it was enjoyable. Thank you very much.

初めてなので、入場の手続きやアクセス方法など戸惑うことも多いかと思い、こちらに申し込みました。お迎えも時間通りでしたし、インストラクターの方はとても親切でした。また、分かっていると思っていたシュノーケルもキチンと基本から教えて頂けたので、色んなことが目からウロコでした。

In April, we participated as a couple with our middle school and elementary school grandchildren. It was our first time at the beach in 30 years. The grandchildren were a bit anxious since they are not great swimmers, but it turned out to be fine for beginners. Unfortunately, we didn't see any sea turtles, but there were plenty of beautiful fish swimming close by, and we even spotted some rare ones. The instructor was incredibly kind and went out of their way to help us look for sea turtles, showing great consideration throughout. In the end, we had to come ashore because the grandchildren got seasick, but before we knew it, over two hours had passed. This was our first overseas trip with the grandchildren, and I wanted them to have at least one experience, and they said it was the most fun they had. I don't think we would have participated if it were just the two of us, but if we can come back to Hawaii, we will definitely go to see the sea turtles next time. Thank you very much.

私たちは30年振りの海。
孫たちも泳ぎは苦手なので若干の不安を抱えながらの参加でしたが初心者でも大丈夫でした。
残念ながら海がめには会えませんでしたが手が届く所に綺麗な魚の群れが一杯いて珍しい魚も見れました。
インストラクターの方が本当に親切で途中海がめを探しに行って下さったり色々気配りをして頂きました。
最後に孫が波に酔ったので陸に上がりましたが気が付けば2時間以上たっていました。
今回は初めて孫たちと一緒の海外旅行なので何か1つ体験をして欲しいと思って参加しましたが一番楽しかったと行って貰えました。
私たちも夫婦だけなら参加する事も無かったと思いますがまたハワイに来れるなら次は海がめに会いに行きます。
本当に有難うございました。

The date and time we booked happened to be just for us, so we felt like we really got a great deal with a private guide! During the drive, we received a lot of information about food in Hawaii, and once we arrived at Hanauma Bay, the guide provided detailed explanations. I also learned the correct way to snorkel, which was a great educational experience since I had been doing it my own way until now.

Unfortunately, due to strong waves on the day of our visit, we couldn't reach the point where sea turtles are usually found, but I had a lot of fun seeing fish I had never seen before and the beautiful underwater scenery filled with coral reefs.

As a side note, while we were talking in the car about a restaurant we wanted to visit the next day without a reservation, the guide even arranged a reservation for us, which was very touching!

Aside from not seeing the turtles, I was very satisfied!

申し込んだ日時が偶然にも私たちだけでガイドさん貸切状態でとっても得した気分！！
移動中の車内でもハワイの食情報をたくさん教えて頂いたり、ハナウマ湾についてからも丁寧な説明と今まで自己流でやっていたシュノーケリング方法も正しいやり方を教わり勉強にもなりました。
残念ながら当日は波が強く高確率で海ガメのいるポイントまで行けずに見ることができませんでしたが、今まで見たことのない魚や一面リーフの広がる水中景色を見ることができてとても楽しかったです。
余談ですが、行きの車の中で翌日行きたいと思っていたレストランの話しをしていて「予約してないけど大丈夫だよね、きっと」なんて話していたら予約の手配までして下さりとても感動しました！

カメが見れなかった以外は大満足です！

Such a great experience! I'm not a strong swimmer, but the guides went the perfect pace for people of all strengths. They start by teaching you how to use the snorkel equipment, then you follow one of the guides around to see all the reefs and the fish. It was fun, easy and the perfect addition to a trip on Oahu!

I was a bit anxious about participating alone, but since it was a small group and the guide paid attention to each person and provided support, I was able to enjoy the experience comfortably until the end. Swimming with the turtles, which I had longed to do, was the best memory.

I participated because I had already explored everything on Oahu except the west side. There were many points to see with a small group, and the explanations were thorough, which increased my knowledge in various areas. I was able to see many turtles while snorkeling. The only downside was the weather; it was mostly rainy, which was disappointing. Next time, I would like to participate during the dry season.

What a great snorkeling experience!! Although we had snorkeled before (quite a few years ago), my husband was not able to complete the adventure even though Chieko tried to pull the 2 of us around. So, my husband went back to land and Chieko pulled me around (I just had to relax and enjoy). We saw so many & beautiful fish. I would definitely recommend this tour.

It was my first time snorkeling, and the instructions were very thorough, allowing me to get used to it quickly! In the clear sea, I was able to see many fish, making it an incredible experience. During the transfer, the guide shared insights about the town, making for a fulfilling tour. While some people swam without renting a wetsuit, I found it warm and it provided extra buoyancy, so for someone like me who wasn't confident in swimming, it was the right choice to rent one.

初めてのシュノーケリングでしたが、丁寧に説明してくださり、すぐに慣れることができました！透き通った海ではたくさんの魚を見ることが出来、感動的な体験となりました。送迎中も街並みを見ながらガイドしていただき、充実したツアーでした。ウェットスーツは借りずに泳がれている方ももちろんいましたが、温かく、浮力も増すため、泳ぎに自信が無かった私は、借りて正解でした。

As most of you know, things to do on the island of Oahu can be pricey at times. If you want to see your money stretch and to get more that you bargained for, take this trip. Dan picked us up right at our hotel and drove us to Hanauma Bay. His equipment was easy to use, very accommodating and the adventure itself was awesome. I could go on and on about how great of a time that my wife and I had but words could never do it justice. From my experience, I would say to give this a shot. Lest we forget one minor detail, I live in Anaheim, CA near Huntington Beach aka Surf City USA, and I have never been more comfortable in the ocean than I was on this snorkeling trip. It really was that awesome.
