I participated with my 8-year-old and 6-year-old children. I was unsure whether to go alone by bus, but I decided to join the round-trip shuttle bus tour. The pickup location was not at my hotel, but it was within a few minutes' walk. After riding a mini bus for about 30 to 40 minutes, we arrived at the facility near Kailua Beach. Several Japanese staff members were waiting to explain the services.

I rented a bicycle for $10 and went snorkeling at Lanikai Beach, which was about a 15-minute ride from the facility. It was a bit chilly and rainy that day, so I couldn't snorkel for long, but the sea was beautiful, just as I had heard, and the beach was not crowded. I took photos with the Mokulua Islands in the background. I then rode my bike to Kailua Beach, which took about 5 minutes (be careful of the hill).

I planned to swim at Kailua Beach, but I gave up because the rain got stronger. I decided to return to the facility for lunch. The tour included free rentals other than bicycles, and I could eat lunch at the facility's restaurant or a nearby pizza place. When I returned to the facility around noon and went to the nearby pizza place, I found out it opened at 1 PM, so I had to give up on that. I was disappointed because I wanted to eat pizza.

I rode my bike to Kailua town, which took about 15 minutes. There was a lot of traffic, so I had to be careful while riding. After having lunch in town, I enjoyed shopping at stylish shops and had some delicious dessert before returning to the facility to take the mini bus back to the city.

施設へ戻りランチをすることに。ツアーには、自転車以外のレンタル品は無料で施設内のレストランか近隣のピザ屋？でランチが食べられる。
12時頃に施設へ戻り近隣のピザ屋へ行くと営業は13時からとことで断念。
ピザが食べたかったので残念。自転車でカイルア市内へ。15分程度。自動車の交通量が多いので運転に注意。市内でランチを済ませ、オシャレなショップで買物三昧。美味しいデザートを食べて施設へ戻り復路のミニバスで市内へ。
無駄のない充実したツアーだ。快晴ではなかったので残念。来年再チャレンジ

This time, I felt that the explanations provided in advance were very thorough and considerate, ensuring that participants could enjoy themselves without any worries. Additionally, during the snorkeling, I was constantly watched over and guided, which allowed me to fully enjoy the wonderful underwater world without getting lost. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to swim for such a long time, which I hadn't expected. I would definitely like to use this service again.

In late August, my family (two adults and two middle schoolers) participated in a morning course. Along with us, there was a couple and a family with children, making a total of 10 participants plus instructors Dan and Chieko, bringing the total to 12 people.

Both of them were kind and had great personalities, and their explanations were very thorough. Before making a reservation, I debated whether to go with a guided tour, but I’m glad I chose this course. This is because they select the best course based on the day's sea conditions, such as the waves. If you’ve been there several times, you might prefer to go on your own, but since it was our first time at Hanauma Bay, we were unsure and a bit anxious. When they told us the course that swam from one end to the other, I thought that if it were just us, we definitely wouldn’t have chosen this course.

In the end, we were lucky to see a seal on the beach, which was adorable. It was a lucky experience!

However, since we just swam from one end to the other, it felt a little lacking. It would have been even better if we could have spent 10 to 15 minutes freely exploring the shallow areas.

But both the parents and kids had a great time. Thank you! It was a wonderful memory.

最後には運よくアザラシが浜辺にいて可愛かったです。ラッキーでした♪
ただ、端から端まで泳いで終わりだったので少〜し物足りず。ここら辺の浅瀬で自由に…とか10分15分でもあればもっと良かったかなと。。

でも、親も子供も楽しく過ごせました。

I participated in this tour because I wanted to go to a place I had never been and also because I wanted to go snorkeling. Despite it being during the Obon holiday period, it was just my family of three, so we had the tour all to ourselves. The instructor, Akima, was a straightforward woman who truly loves nature. Throughout the tour, she shared enjoyable stories, and I was never bored. We were guided to beautiful beaches with hardly anyone around and to caves where Menehune were said to be, and during snorkeling, I had the incredibly rare experience of swimming with two seals. It was a very satisfying tour. I recommend it to beginners who are not fond of the hustle and bustle of Oahu, as well as to repeat visitors who have been to most places.

I participated in this highly-rated snorkeling tour at Hanauma Bay, among several options available. I had some previous snorkeling experience, but I wanted to join a properly guided tour. Early in the morning, our guide Dan picked us up from the hotel and we headed to Hanauma Bay.

Initially, I wasn't planning to rent a wetsuit, but after receiving explanations about injury prevention and increased buoyancy, I decided to rent one. It was my first time wearing a wetsuit, and I highly recommend it! Hanauma Bay has deep areas, but we also swam in shallow rocky spots. If I hadn't worn the wetsuit, my legs might have been covered in cuts… (*^^*)

Guides Dan and Chieko took us to a spot with plenty of fish. I don't think we would have encountered so many fish on our own. Before I knew it, we had been swimming for nearly an hour, which was surprising! I think I'm going to become hooked on snorkeling.

ウェットスーツは当初レンタルする予定ではありませんでしたが、ケガ防止や浮きやすくなるなどの説明を受けてレンタルすることにしました。初めてウェットスーツを着用しましたが、これはおススメです！ハナウマ湾は深いところもありますが、岩場の浅瀬で岩ギリギリのところも泳ぎます。もし、ウェットスーツを着用してなかったら、足が傷だらけになっていたかも…(*^^*)
ガイドのダンさんとチエコさんがお魚がたくさんいるところまで連れて行ってくれます。自分たちだけのシュノーケルだとこんなにたくさんのお魚には出会えていなかったと思います。気が付いたら、１時間近く泳いでいて、びっくり！！シュノーケリングのとりこになりそうです。

This was a great experience. I do not like the water and get motion sick very easily. However, I could not visit Hawaii without giving snorkeling a try. Dan showed the kids (10 & 12) what to do and gave us time to practice. Seeing how uncomfortable I was, Dan stayed with me and literally held my hand the whole time. I still felt sick by the end from the motion, but the rest of the family did awesome and really enjoyed the experience. Double Dramamine for me next time.

From August 3rd (Saturday) to August 15th (Thursday), we came to Hawaii for the first time in three years for a family trip, planning to stay for a week on Oahu and five days on the Big Island. I had always wanted to try snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, and with my daughter now in the second grade, we decided to go ahead after referencing many experiences on Veltra.

I was concerned about the impact of the typhoon until the day before, but on the day of the tour, August 5th (Monday), it was clear and we were able to go snorkeling.

Dan came to pick us up at the Hilton Hawaiian Village where he was staying, and he shared stories about snorkeling and other topics during the ride, which made for a fun travel reference. We arrived at the Hanauma Bay parking lot around 7:40, and there were already many cars parked. After meeting up with another tour participant's car, we had a total of nine people for snorkeling. The group consisted of our three family members, two students and their parents, and a couple, making a total of nine.

Once we arrived at Hanauma Bay, Dan's wife, Chieko, carefully explained the features of Hanauma Bay, snorkeling, and the preparations, which made us feel secure about trying it. My daughter, being the youngest at second grade, made me a bit worried at first, but Chieko supported her throughout, and she became the best at snorkeling in our family, beaming with joy saying, "I had fun!"

At 8 AM, the seawater temperature was still a bit cold, and although we hadn't signed up for wetsuits, after hearing Chieko's advice, we decided to wear them. It was great that they had prepared enough for everyone and ensured safety while snorkeling.

The conditions at Hanauma Bay had some waves, so we experienced being pushed back while swimming and also moving forward with the current. At first, I was focused on getting used to the breathing technique for snorkeling and using fins for the first time, but soon I started to see fish and wanted to see them better.

My daughter held hands with Chieko and swam while relaxed, which reassured me. I enjoyed snorkeling while holding hands with my wife. At one point, Chieko spotted a turtle, and we were lucky to see it up close, about three meters away!

Even with just about an hour of snorkeling, it felt long underwater, which was a new sensation for me. Everyone who participated in the tour seemed to have a great time, and it became a wonderful memory from this trip.

ハナウマ湾の駐車場は７：４０くらいに到着して、すでにたくさんの車が停まっていました。もう一台のツアー参加者さんの車と合流して、私たちは９名でシュノーケリングを行っていきました。ツアー参加者の構成は我が家の３人と、学生のお子様２人とご両親の４人家族の方、カップルの方達が１組で合計９人でした。

ハナウマ湾に到着してからは、ダンさんの奥様のチエコさんが、ハナウマ湾の特徴や、シュノーケリングのこと、準備を詳しく丁寧に伝えてくれたので、安心してトライしていくこともできました。小学２年生の娘が最年少で、最初はできるかなと半分心配していましたが、チエコ先生が終始サポートをしてくださり、我が家の中では一番上手にシュノーケリングができるようになり、「楽しかったよ。」と満面の笑みでした。

朝８時はまだ海水の温度が冷えている方らしく、我が家はスウェットスーツまでは申し込んでいませんでしたが、チエコ先生の話を聞いて、着用することにして参加することにしました。人数分準備してあることや、安全にシュノーケリングができることを配慮されていることも良かったです。

ハナウマ湾の状態は波が少しある方でしたので、泳いでも少し戻されていったり、反対に流れとともに進んだりするような感じで潜っていきました。最初はシュノーケリングの呼吸のしかたになれること、フィンを初めて使ったので、動かすことに夢中でしたが、そのうちお魚たちが見えてくるようになり、もっとよく見たいと思えるようになってきました♬

娘はチエコ先生と手をつなぎ、力を抜いて泳ぎながら海中を見れていたので、安心しました。私は妻と一緒に手をつないでシュノーケリングを楽しみました。途中チエコ先生がカメがいることを発見して、3メートルくらいの距離でまじかに見ることができたこともラッキーでした♪

1時間くらいのシュノーケリングの時間でも、海の中では長く感じたことも初めての感覚でした。一緒にツアーに参加されていた皆さんも楽しかったようで、今回の旅の中で、良い想い出になってくれましたよ。

ダンさん・チエコさん本当にありがとうございました。またオアフ島に来た際には、再び参加させていただきたいと思っています（●＾o＾●）

I had an awesome time snorkeling and would highly recommend the tour. I am not a strong swimmer and was somewhat anxious about the experience. To calm my fears, Cheiko held my hand for the majority of the tour which allowed me to relax and to challenge myself to let go and enjoy the moment. I felt safe and was able to accomplish a personal goal, especially since I love adventure. What a thrilling ride! My nephew accompanied me who had the time of his life as well!

The weather had been nice, so I was looking forward to it, but the water clarity wasn't very high. Okinawa and Guam are much prettier. I did encounter a sea turtle, but due to the low water clarity, I couldn't see it very clearly. There were some fish, but it didn't feel like there were many.

Everything went smoothly from the pickup time to arrival. Renting a bicycle for $10 was a great decision. We quickly got takeout from Kimo's Pancakes. We shared it and ended up very full. The staff were kind, and we had a wonderful time at Kailua Beach. For lunch, we had plates at the hotel.

Despite being warned multiple times, we mistakenly went to the wrong meeting place, but they were very kind to us. (The Hilton Hawaiian Village is really something to watch out for. The Grand Islander and Grand Waikikian can be confusing.)
Our guide, Chieko, was Japanese and very kind and attentive. Unlike a previous snorkeling tour where I had a foreign guide and struggled to communicate, which made me feel scared when I cramped up, we were able to enjoy ourselves as a couple this time.
It's also great that we could take photos with a GoPro and receive them later. I brought an underwater camera, but I was so focused on swimming that I couldn't take good pictures, so this truly became a lifelong memory. Thank you very much.

Choosing a tour with a Japanese guide for my first visit to Hanauma Bay was the right decision! Although the waves were high that day, I was able to see colorful fish of shapes I had never seen before, huge fish, and even sea turtles up close! I don't think I would have been able to swim that far on my own. Additionally, I received proper instruction on how to wear the mask, clear water from it, maintain posture, and stand in the water, which allowed my husband, who isn't a strong swimmer, to enjoy the experience until the end without worry! Thanks to our guide, Fumio, I truly appreciate it!!
