The wind and waves made SUP challenging, but I was able to enjoy it nonetheless. Next time, I want to challenge myself to go a bit faster and venture further out.

I had a lesson with Teacher Aiza. I heard that she used to be an English teacher in Japan, so I felt very relieved to receive instruction in Japanese and was able to enter the sea comfortably. Previously, when I took a private surfing lesson at another school in Waikiki, the instructor couldn't speak Japanese, and since I didn't understand English, we couldn't communicate well. However, this time, I was very satisfied because she taught me in detail in Japanese.

Also, since the waters in Hawaii are quite deep, the lessons take place far offshore. When I caught a wave, it was a struggle to paddle back, and I had a hard time during my last lesson at a different location. Before we started, I mentioned this, and this time, the instructor helped me by placing her foot on the board and taking me out each time, making it very easy to get out to the waves.

She taught me the timing when good waves came and pushed the board for me, so I was able to stand up every time and ride the waves for a long time. It was truly fun.

以前、ワイキキの他のスクールでサーフィンのプライベートレッスンしたときには日本語の話せない先生で私が英語が分からないこともあり、意思疎通ができずだったのですが今回は日本語で細かく教えていただけ、大満足でした。
また、ハワイは遠くまで足がつくのでかなり沖の方でレッスンするため、波に乗ってきてしまうとパドリングして沖まで戻るのが必死で前回違う場所でレッスンしたときにとても大変だったという話を、始まる前にしたところ、今回は先生がボードに足をかけて一緒に沖まで毎回連れて行ってくださり、とてもとても簡単に沖まででることができました。
いい波が来るとタイミングを教えてくださり、ボー
ドを押してくださるので毎回立つことができ、長く波になることができ本当に楽しかったです。

The trip there was slow due to the headwind, and even with all my effort, it took about 30 minutes. The return trip was quick because of the tailwind. I ended up with sore muscles, but it was really fun.

Really enjoyable tour to the North Shore

Picked this tour to the north shore due to the choice of activities and since it had pick up from Waikiki. Mike was our guide and informative. Snorkelled at Shark's cove then headed to Waimea Bay for some snorkelling and beach time. Then chose to paddle boarding down the river near Haleiwa instead of kayaking. Ended the tour at Haleiwa. Good tour for the time spent up north and activities you could participate in and p/u provided.

Unfortunately, a hurricane was approaching, so we couldn't go out to the ocean, but paddling on the river was calm and we were able to see beautiful gardens of lovely homes. It was a lot of fun. I definitely want to make a comeback at the ocean!

The day of participation had nice weather with no wind, making for great conditions. The staff girl who was waiting for us on the beach supported me, and when I got on the board and went a little ahead to where the guide was, he said, "Stand up and look!" I stood up hesitantly, but as soon as I started paddling, I lost my balance and fell off (laughs). I managed to get back on the board, but it was tough for me, an aunt who doesn't usually exercise, so I decided to paddle while sitting down from then on! (Sitting is quite stable.)

My son, who participated with me (21 years old), easily stood up and paddled without any trouble, while the guide adjusted his pace to accommodate my slower speed as we headed toward the uninhabited island.

They had prepared water for us, and the guide took care of my smartphone, so I enjoyed the scenery and took breaks while capturing photos. The guide also accompanied my son and taught him how to ride the waves, and he was thrilled to be able to ride the waves pretty well, saying that paddling while surfing was exhilarating and a lot of fun.

After that, we strolled around the island and returned to the beach, but it was unusually windy, and my arms were sore from the effort (laughs).

As for points I was concerned about beforehand:
- We could choose from two restaurants for lunch, but since the pizza place opens at 11 AM, it would be tough for those starting at 11:30.
- There were about four changing rooms separated by curtains, so changing was okay.
- The showers were outside, so they were just for rinsing off sand.
- The lockers were large enough for changing clothes and valuables and had locks.
- The guide prepared water for us on the beach.
- They transported the boards on a cart back and forth to the beach.
- We had about two hours of free time, so we borrowed bikes and could go to Boots Kimora for pancakes to-go in about an hour round trip.

Sunscreen is a must. I was careless because it wasn't scorching hot, but it was tough when I got home. Next time, I want to leisurely enjoy renting a board in front of the hotel.

一緒に参加した息子（21）はあっさり立って簡単にこいでましたが、ガイドさんが遅い私に合わせてくれてゆっくり無人島に向かいました。

お水を用意してくれていて、スマホもガイドさんが預かってくれてたので、私は景色を楽しんだり休憩しながら撮影する事にしましたが、ガイドさんが息子に付き合ってくれて波乗りの仕方を教えてくれたりして、そこそこ波に乗れるようになり、パドルでのサーフィンがスピード感があってめっちゃ楽しいと喜んでました。

その後島を散歩してビーチに帰りますが、珍しく向かい風だったらしく腕も筋肉痛でしたｗ

事前に気になっていた点として
○２店舗から選べる昼食付きでしたが、ピザは１１時オープンの為11時半スタート組は厳しい。
○更衣室はカーテンで仕切られた所が４つ位あったので着替えOK
○シャワーは外にあるので砂を流す程度
○ロッカーは鍵付きで着替えや貴重品が入る大きさでした
○ビーチにはガイドさんがお水を用意してくれます
○ビーチまでの往復台車にボードを乗せて運びます
○自由時間が2時間位あったので自転車を借りてブーツキモアのパンケーキをto goなら往復１時間位で可能。

日焼け対策必須です。ジリジリする暑さがなかったので油断してましたが、帰ってから大変でした^^;
今度はホテル前にあったレンタルボードでのんびり楽しみたいと思います。

I participated wearing a T-shirt over my swimsuit. The wind was strong, and we experienced it on the river that day. It seems that it's hard to fall off in the river, but two people lost their balance and fell in. There were people kayaking in the ocean despite the strong winds, but I wouldn't recommend going out to sea on a windy day. On the river, we were able to relax and chat while learning about various things in Hawaii.

After the experience, we had about 2 hours and 30 minutes of free time. I rented a bike and headed into town, reaching Boots & Kimo's in about 10 minutes. It was a very enjoyable tour.

The wind was pretty strong that day, and the current was tough, but I was healed by the beauty of Kailua Beach. Next time, I want to join a tour with a guide.

This was my second time doing the SUP.

First, the meeting point mentioned during the reservation was between the Royal Hawaiian and the Sheraton, but in reality, it was between the Halekulani and the Sheraton. I participated with my husband on a weekday morning, and since there were no other participants, we had a nearly private lesson with just one instructor. The instructor was a local, and he explained the basic movements, things to watch out for, and key points using gestures and simple Japanese words, so there were almost no communication issues.

After a 5-minute lecture on land, we spent about 45 minutes in the water, and each of us got to try riding the waves about 6 or 7 times (I managed to ride about half of those). The lesson took place on the east side of Waikiki's main beach, at Gray's Beach in front of the Sheraton, where there were few beachgoers and other surfers, allowing us to focus on the lesson in a relatively spacious area. The water temperature was just right, and the gentle waves were perfect for beginners, making it a luxurious spot to enjoy the view of Diamond Head and the hotels along Waikiki Beach.

After the lesson, one of the staff showed us the photos he had taken on the computer and offered to help us purchase them. The price was $52 per person for the USB data (a total of about $104 for around 15 shots), which was quite expensive, so my husband and I discussed it and decided we wanted to have a keepsake of ourselves riding the waves, so we went back to buy them later (both cash and card were accepted).

This was my second time surfing in Waikiki (and my fifth time overall, including Japan and the mainland U.S.), and aside from the cost of the photo data, I was very satisfied, so I gave it 4 stars.

陸でのレクチャー5分のあと、海に出ている時間は大体45分程度で、一人6，7回波にトライさせてもらいました。（私が乗れたのはそのうち半分くらい）レッスンの場所はワイキキのメインビーチの東側、シェラトンの前のグレイズビーチというところで、海水浴客や他のサーファーも少なく、割と広い場所でレッスンに集中することができました。海自体の水温もちょうど良く、初心者向けの穏やかな波でダイヤモンドヘッドからワイキキビーチのホテル群までをを眺めながらの贅沢な場所だったと思います。
レッスン後、スタッフの一人が撮ってくれていた写真をパソコンで見せてくれ購入を斡旋してきますが、USBのデータで1人52ドル（二人合わせて104ドル合計15ショットくらい）となかなかの値段だったため、主人と検討しやはり自分たちが波に乗っている姿を記念に欲しいということで後日購入しに行きました。（現金、カード共にOKでした）
今回、ワイキキでのサーフィンは2回目（私は日本、アメリカ本土合わせて5回目）でしたが、写真のデータの料金以外はとても満足でしたので☆4つにしました。

I have experience with stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), while my wife is a beginner, so we participated in a tour without a guide this time.

First, we arrived at Kailua Beach Center, listened to the instructions, and then loaded the boards onto a cart to head to the beach. It's a bit of a distance. We started around 10 AM and paddled to a nearby island. Since it was Kailua, I was worried about strong winds, but on that day, it was about 5 to 6 m/s, which I think is manageable for experienced paddlers. By the way, my wife fell down while kneeling about halfway through. We wanted to head into Kailua town in the afternoon, so we wrapped up at the beach early and returned to Kailua Beach Center by noon.

For lunch, we chose pizza, and it was huge! If you're a light eater, two people might be fine sharing one. But it was really delicious.

Before 1 PM, we rented bicycles (for a fee) and headed to Kailua town, which takes about 15 minutes. I want to try SUP that I saw on TV and at Waikiki when I go to Hawaii! If possible, I also want to eat pancakes in Kailua and look for places to do that in Kailua.

On the day, the wind was stronger than I expected, and as a first-timer, I was worried if I would be okay. However, thanks to our guide MIEKO, it became a very enjoyable and memorable SUP experience.

First, we received a lesson at the shop, and then we pulled our boards to the water and headed from the river to the ocean. Due to the strong wind and my weak core, I struggled to paddle while standing properly on the way to the uninhabited island, and I even fell into the sea a couple of times. However, I learned tips on how to get back on the board, so by the time we returned, I was able to stand and paddle properly.

After SUP, we had lunch (the pizza was delicious!), and during our free time afterward, we rented bicycles to go to Kailua town, where I was able to enjoy the pancakes I was aiming for. MIEKO was very kind, arranging for us to ride in a staff member's car to Waikiki at a later time than originally planned.

I definitely want to challenge myself to SUP here again next year!

最初、お店で講習を受けて、そのあと自分たちでボードのカートを引っ張って持っていき
川から海に出ていきました。
風が強いせいと、私の体幹が弱いせいか、行きの無人島まではなかなかちゃんと立ってこぐことができず、途中バランスを崩して海に落ちたりもしましたが、
自分でボードに上がるコツも教えてもらっていたので、帰りの最後はちゃんとボードに立ってこぐこともできました。
SUPの後はランチ（ピザ、美味しかったです！）を食べて、そのあとの自由時間にはカイルアの街までレンタサイクルも借りれて、お目当てのパンケーキも無事に食べることができたし
MIEKOさんの計らいで、帰りの予定の時間よりも遅い時間にワイキキまで行くスタッフの人の車に乗せてもらえたり、と
とても親切にしてもらえました。
来年もまたぜひここでSUPに挑戦したいな、と思っています♪

This was my first time in Hawaii, and I signed up for a tour because I wanted to do stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) in the beautiful ocean. It took about an hour by bus from Waikiki to get there. After arriving and receiving an explanation, we had about two and a half hours of free time in the morning. The beach was less than a five-minute walk from the meeting point, so we played at the beach in the morning, had pizza for lunch before the meeting time, and then finally got to do SUP in the afternoon. The waves were strong, so we practiced in a nearby river first before moving to the ocean for SUP. On days with smaller waves, they say you can paddle to a nearby island and take a 30-minute walk on the uninhabited island before returning. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn't reach the uninhabited island due to the waves, but I was really satisfied to do SUP in such a beautiful ocean! SUP was also a lot of fun! I definitely recommend it for anyone trying SUP for the first time. After the tour, I wanted to explore Kailua town, but the return bus was scheduled for 2:30 PM, so I couldn't. It seems there are buses that leave around 5 PM depending on availability, so if that's the case, you could visit Kailua town as well. However, I won't know if I can change the bus time until I go on the day. But the beach is so beautiful that you'll want to stay there all day. I thought if you split your schedule between a day at the beach and a day exploring the town, you would have a great time.

ワイキキからバスで1時間くらいで到着。到着して説明受けて、午前中2時間半くらいは自由時間でした。集合場所からビーチまでは5分もかからないくらいだったので、午前はビーチで遊んで、集合時間前にランチのピザ食べて、午後から念願のSUP。波が強くて、わたしたちは最初近くの川で練習して、海に移動してSUPしました。波があんまりない日は、SUPで近くの島まで行って、30分くらい無人島を散歩して帰ってくるそうです。波の影響で無人島まで行けなかったのがちょっと残念でしたが、初のSUPをあんなにきれいな海でできたのは本当に満足です！SUPも楽しかった！初めてのSUPをする人には、絶対おすすめです。ツアーが終わっててカイルアの街に繰り出したかったけど、帰りのバスの時間が14時半とかだったので、できませんでした。空き状況によっては、17時くらいに帰れるバスもあるみたいなので、それだったらカイルアの街も行けると思います。でも、バスの時間が変更できるかどうかは、当日行ってみないと分かりません。でも、ビーチがとにかくきれいなので、一日中ビーチにいたくなります。カイルアは1日ビーチ、1日街の散策とで分けて予定組めば、すごく楽しめると思いました。

It was my first experience with SUP, so I was worried about whether I could ride it properly, but thanks to the strict instruction (laughs), I was able to do it and had a lot of fun. I also extended my trip to the neighboring beach by renting a bicycle, but unfortunately, the sea wasn't as beautiful as I had heard due to the weather conditions. The pizza from the nearby place for lunch was delicious, though!
