I've seen hula shows at shopping centers, but this was my first time seeing such an authentic hula performance, and I was truly moved!
During the show, when the lights dimmed as part of the performance, I looked up at the sky and saw a sky full of stars, which was also breathtaking!
The staff was friendly (perhaps a bit too friendly?!), and the food was delicious, which made me very satisfied. The lack of guidance or explanations in Japanese added to the exotic atmosphere, which I really appreciated.

My husband and I have been to the Old Lahaina Luau and prefer it to this one hands down. Drums of the Pacific seemed corny, as another reviewer posted. The emcee sounded like a barker for a side show..."and now the GRRREEAATT, the FaNTAAAASSSTIC, So-And-So (can't remember the name of the dancer) performing the ...whatever. My brother and his wife, first time visitors, were with us and enjoyed it. We didn't tell them any different so as not to spoil their evening. For first timers, it's OK but if you want culture and history, Old Lahaina Luau is far better.

Overall this was a good experience for our first luau. The setting was very nice and the fire dancer a huge hit. I thought the dancers and entertainers were great but I would have enjoyed something a little more interactive. Example, instead of just selling the crafts, allowing children to interact. The food was good but the drinks were watered down. I didn't even finish one and ended up buying a $15 drink from the bar. We would likely attend again but also might look for something a little more interactive for the kids.

From the Sheraton Maui where I stayed, it was surprisingly close to walk along the beach walk, arriving in about 7 to 8 minutes. There was an ID check at the entrance, and it seems it's better to have something like a driver's license. Unfortunately, I didn't have anything on me, but I passed without any issues.
While waiting in a long line, we were greeted by a typical Hawaiian light rain, which resulted in a rainbow appearing in the sky, and a nearby American family took a photo for us. By the way, it seems there were quite a few fewer participants from Japan.
The content of the show was well-structured and enjoyable, although the food had a somewhat wild impression for a Japanese person.

Ferry ride was nice, fun at times with the waves. Beautiful view. Beaches in Lanai gorgeous. Good service. Not much to do in Lanai City. Most of the Restaurants there, which are not too many, close really early. We were lucky to be able to have a late lunch at one of them, cant recall the name, and the food was delicious.

An enjoyable boat ride, sit back and enjoy the scenery, maybe you'll see a humpback whale. If it's rough you might want Dramamine, I don't see any cautionary statements like that; but we've seen people get sea sick on other boats. The day we crossed it was calm and we had a nice passage. Staff was friendly and professional.

Unfortunately it was raining on the night we went, were handed plastic poncho's at the door to an outdoor cement courtyard and facing away from the beach. This was disappointing compared to others I had read about. We paid extra for preferred seating, which was probably better than sitting up the back. Our table service was not good and agree with other reviews the Mai Tai's were awful, had to go to the bar to ask for wine instead. Still all in all it was what a Laua is all about, the dancers were great, had a good laugh at them doing the NZ Huka. Would still recommend.

This was our third luau and the best one so far. The food, including the poi, and drink were plentiful and delicious and the entertainment was awesome. The show consisted of a variety of Polynesian dancing, including fire-dancing. All the dancers were very talented and put on a high-energy show. The layout at the Royal Lahaina provides a perfect view of the sunset over the ocean which is incorporated into the show.
Overall, it was a wonderful luau experience.

This luau is fantastic. We never really know what to do for nightlife now that the kiddos are here with us (no nanny!) But this luau was surprisingly perfect for us all.
My wife and I were amazed at how much hands-on activities were available for our kids to run around and explore/discover. It was so great because we actually felt like they were getting an education in Hawaiian history and culture...but never KNEW because it was so fun and interactive! Kudos for that! The food was amazing...we all ate way too much! And the show was the best part of all. Couldn't have asked for better. Mahalo (which we learned means thanks!)

My family took this ferry between the islands. I was honestly wondering how the kids were going to behave on the trip, never having taken them on a ferry before...and knowing full well how crazy airplane travels usually are for us...I have to admit their was some hesitation on my part.
But the kids loved it...and it was really a short trip...done before they even had a chance to get grouchy or fidgety too much.
Added to the relatively short duration, were the views from the water that always gave us all something pretty to look at from all sides. A hassle free way to get between islands.

We were staying at the Royal Lahaina, so we got to hear another Luau on another night... It was a little different than the Luau we attended, which I think is nice because it makes it a unique experience!
The food was great. I highly recommend getting the "speed pass" for an additional $15 at the door and arriving early to get the best seats! It's well worth the additional money :-)

For my kids first time in Maui I wanted them to experience a true Luau. We didn't want to pay the price that the Old Lahaina Luau charged (even though we had been to it on our honeymoon and loved it, and everyone always says its the best one on Maui) so we went to the Hyatt. I was disappointed that it was on concrete with the stage so far away, after we waited in the rain and sunny heat (yes at the same time!) in line for 45 minutes! The mai-tai's were not very strong either and we wanted to get the most bang for our buck. On the other hand, the show was entertaining enough, the staff was very friendly, and we met a lovely family from Tokyo, so we all had a great time. The fire dancers were a big hit! I thought the food was EXCELLENT, especially for such a large buffet, and my kids really enjoyed the whole thing. For the price, it was a decent deal since one of my kids was free, but I think The Old Lahaina Luau is the only way I would go if I had it to do over again.
