This tour was the last thing I did in Hawaii, but certainly the most beautiful and the most intense. It was born in my head as a different way to get to the airport and it proved rather to be the cherry on top! I met at dawn my personal guide, Jasmine Kilborn, a magnificent Hawaiian girl who transmitted to me all her love for the island of Maui, for the history of Hawaii, for their traditions. We visited amazing places and we breathed the magic of nature in its more authentic splendor: old Lahaina, Nakalele Blowhole, Makamakaole Stream and Waterfalls.... The road itself was worth the travel and during the trip Jasmine told me about religion, Hawaiian language, Hawaiian habits and she put traditional music and songs to accompany the emotions that we lived. I felt a real sense of accomplishment! MAHALO NUI LOA!

There were 10 participants in the tour. Our guide was Rick, who had previously worked as a wedding planner in Honolulu. He was lively and attentive. I had expected the representative to guide us, but he was on a business trip to Japan, so Rick took over.

The participants joined us at a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts along the way, where we received one doughnut and a drink. There were two types of doughnuts: the original and a flavor not available in Japan. I thought it would have been better if the guide had asked for our preferences since the original can be found in Japan.

We made stops at souvenir shops and for restroom breaks to prevent altitude sickness before reaching the summit. We were able to see a beautiful sunset, and Rick took many photos for us. The scenery was breathtaking, changing my perspective on life. I felt the grandeur of the earth and the universe, and in that vastness, I felt small. It gave me courage to keep going.

We had a Japanese bento box in the car, which was fairly good. The warm tea was a nice touch. Next, we moved to a point where we could see the stars clearly. Once the chairs and telescopes were set up, we prepared for the cold and headed outside. I was amazed at how many stars there were. I realized that the North Star was lower in the sky, and being close to the equator in Maui was a new experience for me. We could clearly see the Big Dipper as well. I thought it would have been great to have the star chart I used in elementary school to better understand the explanations. Rick provided thorough explanations, and we got a good view of Venus, which was also impressive.

However, it was very cold outside. They provided some warm clothing, but it might be better to bring your own, especially a warm hat and gloves. Having Heattech would be even better.

I found the discussions about the silver sword plant and the nene bird to be very interesting.

ガイドさんは、以前ホノルルで結婚式のプランナーをやっていたというリックさん。
軽快なトークと細やかな気遣いができる方でした。
代表の方のガイドを期待していたけど、日本へ出張されているとの事で代わりでした。

参加者は途中のクリスピークリームドーナッツで合流。ドーナッツ1個と飲み物のサービス。
ドーナッツはオリジナルと日本にはないフレーバーの２種類。ガイドさんが適当において行く。オリジナルは日本でも食べられるから好みを聞いて注文してくれればよいのにと思いました。

途中、高山病を防ぐ為にお土産屋さんやトイレ休憩をはさみ、山頂へ。
きれいなサンセットを観れました。写真もたくさん撮ってくれました。人生観変わるようなそんな景色に感動。大地・宇宙の雄大さを感じ、その中にいる小さな自分。がんばろう、と勇気をもらいました。

車中で日本食のお弁当。まぁまぁおいしい。温かいお茶もうれしいサービス。
次は星がよく見えるポイントへ移動。椅子や望遠鏡の準備が整ったら防寒の準備をしていざ、外へ。
こんなにも星ってあったんですね、と感動。北極星が下の方にあり、北半球でも赤道に近くマウイに来ているんだと改めて実感。北斗七星もきれいに柄杓が観れました。小学校で使った星図版を持って説明と聞けば良く理解出来ただろうな〜と。リックさんもきちんと説明してくれました。金星もよ〜く観れてまたまた感動。
でも外は寒い寒い・・・。防寒は貸してくれるけど自分でも持って行った方がよいかも。特に温かい帽子と手袋。ヒートテックもあればなおさらいいかも。

その他、銀剣草やネーネーの話は興味深く聞かせてもらいました。

Makani Olu Ranch Trail Rides - Central Maui Horseback Riding Tour

I'm just a typical guy who rides a car to work, not a horse, so I was a little hesitant to ride a horse. Boy, I loved it. Jod (Yod) was an excellent horseman, and he showed me exactly how to handle my ride. The ranch was privately owned, so the atmosphere was very intimate. We had a great view of the Haleakala and the ocean at the picnic lunch place. I recommend this to everyone who wants to experience a nice and quiet ride in the Maui mountain.

I participated in a tour while traveling alone on Maui. They picked me up right in front of the hotel, and both Mr. Yamauchi and Rick kept the conversation enjoyable during the bus ride. They shared information about the sunset and stars, allowing me to have a great time even by myself! In the end, they even called the hotel for me, and I was very well taken care of!

The crescent moon was bright, and I thought that if it had been a new moon, I could have seen even more stars. However, the moon looked very beautiful, and I was extremely satisfied to see stars like the Southern Cross, which are hard to see in Japan! Thank you very much!!

1人でマウイ島の旅行をしていたところで、ツアーに参加しました。
ホテルの前まで迎えに来て頂き、山内さん、Rickさんともにバスの移動中も会話で楽しませて下さり、
sunsetも星も色々教えて下さり、1人でも十分楽しむことができました！

Unfortunately, the weather was not great (>_<), so even though we made it to the summit, we couldn't see the starry sky. However, I appreciate that there is compensation for a free participation next time! I'm really looking forward to it! I wonder when I can go again＾＾

In February, I went to Maui for my honeymoon and wanted to experience not just the ocean but also the mountains, so I participated in this tour. The sunset and starry sky viewed above the clouds were exquisite. The summit had an unusually strong wind, making it difficult to stand, but the colors of the sun and sky were incredibly beautiful and moving.

During the stargazing time, the already clear starry sky was breathtaking, and with the use of three telescopes, we were shown various stars and received detailed explanations, which made it enjoyable. On the drive to Haleakalā, we talked about Maui, and I received a lot of information.

If I have the opportunity to go again in the summer, I would love to participate in seeing the summer constellations.

雲の上て見る夕陽と星空は絶品でした。山頂は稀に見る強風で、立っているのもやっとといった感じでしたが、太陽や空の色はとても綺麗でかんどうしました。
星空の時間帯にも、ただでさえ澄んだ星空で感動なのに、３つの望遠鏡を駆使しながら、あらゆる星を見せてくださったり、解説も細かくしていただき楽しめました。
ハレアカラまでのドライブ中にも、マウイのことを話しながら向かってくださり、沢山の情報をいただきました。

また夏に行く機会があったら、夏の星座を見に参加させて頂きたいです。

The scenery along Road to Hana is nice, it's an impressive ride. We got to stop where possible, and the driver tried to add some little spots here and there for quick extra photo opportunities.
I was most impressed with the final part of the road that nobody seems to mentions: the part after the Seven Pools which goes through the barren drier south side of the Haleakala. I liked this scenery a lot!

Be aware: if you want to stay on a budget: lunch is very expensive at the chosen restaurant. I brought my own lunch, which turned out to be the right choice.

I participated with a female friend. Our guide was Rick. He greeted us politely when we first met and was considerate throughout the experience, making it really enjoyable. He also suggested fun ways to take sunset photos, and we got some great shots.

It was really cold, but I was relieved that we could borrow down jackets, blankets, and gloves. The stargazing was absolutely beautiful, and he explained everything in detail in Japanese, which was moving and exciting.

I definitely want to participate again!

Although there was some rain and strong winds at lower altitudes, as we ascended, the weather cleared up and there was no wind, making it a perfect day for sunset and stargazing. The sea of clouds at 3,055 meters, the twilight after sunset, and the starry sky were sights I had never seen before. It was truly wonderful. I believe it would be impossible to reach the summit of Haleakalā on my own, so I was glad to have been taken there. I would love to participate again if I have the chance.

下は所々雨が降ったり、風が強かったりしたのですが、上へ上がるにつれ、お天気になり風もなく、絶好のサンセット＆星空日和でした。３０５５ｍでの雲海、サンセット後の薄明、満天の星空・・・今までに一度も見たことのない光景でした。本当に素晴らしかったです。夜のハレアカラ山頂へは、個人では到底行けないところだと思いますので、連れて行ってもらってよかったと思いました。また機会があれば参加したいです。

This was by FAR our best experience on Maui. We booked last minute and Skyline Eco accommodated us. The employees are extremely welcoming and warm. I noticed many older people felt a bit uncomfortable jumping from the zipline and Anthony really helped calm them. I felt like I was in great company too! We really lucked out and got a great group as well. The guys also showed us some of the plants along the trail. I was so excited when they pointed out fresh guava fruit! We honestly had such a great experience and left with huge grins on our faces. If you have limited time and a limited budget, choose these guys. You won't be disappointed!

The guides, Yamapi and Rick, were polite gentlemen with proper manners. On the way to Haleakalā, we stopped at a viewpoint where they set up binoculars for whale watching. Thanks to them, I was thrilled to see a whale surface! The weather was great that day with no wind, and Haleakalā offered the best views. The guide was very accommodating, matching the pace of the participants, which made for a very pleasant experience. I look forward to seeing you again on my next trip to Maui. Great way to start Hawaii Vacation

This was my first zipline experience and a second for my wife. We had sign up for 8 zipline package. They started us with relatively short distance and not so fast zipline. With every line, distance and speed kept increasing. Every line offered views of both mountains and ocean. Both of our guides Johnny and Loki were great when it came to making it a safe and fun experience. Drive up to the of the hill was pretty bumpy but fun due to stories of Uncle George. They provided us with reusable water bottle and start and pretty awesome snacks in the middle. Overall it was a pretty fun activity. I do recommend it for first timers, May not be extreme enough for repeaters.

I went to Mendes Ranch by rental car. It was my second time horseback riding. The first time was on the Big Island of Hawaii. Although it was drizzling, the horse was very cute. Compared to horseback riding on the Big Island, there wasn't much time to interact with the horse before and after riding, and the smell of the horse was quite strong, which was a bit disappointing. However, it was fun to run up the hill!

レンタカーでメンデス牧場まで行きました。
乗馬は人生2回目。
前回はハワイ島でしました。
小雨の降る中での乗馬でしたが馬はとても可愛かったです。

It was our first time ziplining and we totally enjoyed the entire experience.
We were picked up by a van at the checkin point ant driven up the mountain. The trip is a bit rough since the road were unpaved. We stopped at a station in between to get geared up, and then the fun started.
Our tour guides were AWESOME. They were so funny and knowledgeable, making the entire trip so entertaining. I was a bit nervous at the beginning. But after the first line, I can't wait to go again.
The view was great from the mountain too. Definitely a wonderful experience worths every penny, highly recommended.

Well, what can I say?
This was a good activity that I am glad I did. But I won't say that I would do it twice. I don't think I would do any zipline twice, unless it's been a very long time.

The stuff was extremely nice to us. They were extremely careful, letting us know about all the risks and how to avoid them. They were catching every single person in the end of each zipline so that no one got hurt. Also, they were telling us stories about hawaiian culture and hawaiian island after each zipline.
Stuff had a great sense of humor as well. Lots of appropriate jokes were made :)

Last, but not least, Everything was organized in a timely manner as well.

I finally summited Haleakalā, a mountain I had visited Maui several times without ever climbing. Since I had a rental car, I considered going on my own, but since it was my first time there, I decided to join a tour, and I truly felt it was a highly satisfying experience.

They picked us up at the hotel and took their time climbing. I was a bit worried about climbing a mountain over 3000 meters, but I had no issues with my health and was able to reach the summit comfortably.

The view from the summit was beyond words. It happened to be a full moon that day, so the moonlight was too bright to see many stars (though it was still incomparable to the usual night sky), I was moved by the incredibly bright and beautiful moon that I had never seen before.

The guide, Yamapi, was truly wonderful. I am grateful for the opportunity to be reminded of the amazing nature that Maui has to offer. I definitely want to participate again when I go back to Maui.

As mentioned in the tour information, it gets very cold at the summit at night, so I recommend bringing extra warm clothing. However, the awe-inspiring experience that awaits you is worth braving the cold, making this tour highly recommended.

これまで何度もマウイを訪れていたのに一度も登ったことのなかったハレアカラに初めて登頂。レンタカーをしていたので自力で行くことも検討しましたが、初めての場所なのでツアーに参加することにしたのですが、本当に満足度の高いツアーで参加してよかったと感じています。
ホテルまでピックアップに来てくださり、時間をかけて登っていきます。3000m超の山を登るということで多少心配もありましたが、体調にまったく問題なく気持ちよく山頂に着くことができました。
山頂で見られる景色の素晴らしさは言葉で表現できないほどのものでした。当日ちょうど満月だったこともあり、月の光が明るすぎて星はあまり見られなかったのですが（とはいえ普段見ている星空とは比較にならないものです）これまで見たことのないほど明るく美しい月に遭遇して感動しました。

やまぴーさんのガイドは本当に素晴らしいです。マウイにこれほどの素晴らしい自然があることを再認識させていただき感謝しています。またマウイに行く際には必ず参加したいと思います。

ツアー情報に記載もありますが、夜の山頂はとにかく寒いですので防寒着は多めに持っていったほうがよいかと思います。ただその寒さを凌ぐほどの感動がそこに待っていますのでオススメのツアーです。

Fun!

My husband and I had a lot of fun. The guys were really amusing and very patient in trying to teach me to do the canon ball on the last zipline.
We were picked up at the Eco shop and shuttled to the actual Zipline "ranch". They provided all the items that we needed including the water bottle, which they let us take as a gift. They cracked jokes and did some really cool stunts on the the lines we could never get confidence enough to do. They tried to bring even my husband and I into the jokes even though we can take a bit to warm up. They provided breaks and and an amazing view to catch a breather. You even get snacks and a drink at the end when looking at your pictures they snap of you. Thank you Levi you were awesome

A must-do on Maui: Kaanapali Zipline Adventure

One thing you definitely have to do during your Maui visit is ziplining!
We booked the 8 Line Zip Tour which took all in all about 4 hours. At „half time“ there was organized a little break at an wonderful lookout where you had the chance to take some snacks and drinks.
It was our very first time we did ziplining and we really enjoyed it. Not only the adventure itself but also the wonderful view on Kaanapali coast is worth it. Don‘t worry about little fear of heights, because the guides will take it away with their joking manner. We were surprised positively that ziplining is popular with all age groups. The group we joined in was mixed up and we all had pretty much fun doing the Kaanapali Zipline Adventure. Therefore we would absolutely recommend it to everybody - no matter if you do it with friends, your family or as a couple.
The online-booking via Veltra was uncomplicated and the procedure on site was smoothly.
Thumbs up for the great organization and the whole ziplining team - you must not miss this adventure!

Super Fun Kaanapali Zipline Adventure

Awesome experience! Everything was first class and the location was beautiful. Our guides, Matt and Cliff, were amazing and they were super funny, detailed, careful, and made us feel like VIP;s. Our whole group agreed that those two made the whole thing amazing! The views were breathtaking and the weather was perfect. First time ziplining and I would totally recommend it to anybody especially through Veltra. Veltra made booking easy and also had no problem when we wanted to change to a ziplining adventure that was closer to our resort. Matt and Cliff reassured us that our novice level experience would not hinder our perfect vacation and they were completely right. If there is one adventure that cannot go missed while being in Maui, it must be ziplining Kaanapali. Two thumbs way up and look forward to trying all of the other adventures offered by Veltra in the future.

First time going to Maui and first time horseback riding. This was so fun! We did quite a few excursions during our 10 day trip and this was definitely my favourite! The guide was awesome, learned a lot, the people are so laid back and easy to talk to, and would definitely go back again. Both myself and my boyfriend has decided to take up horseback riding back home. The scenery during this tour is also incredible!

What a wonderful day to expend about 2.5 hours in Haleakala. The stuff are very friendly. If I spell their names correctly, their names are Shin and Kathy. Shin is a fun guy that talked many jokes in this adventure. Kathy is a girl studying her undergraduate. She is enthusiastic in protecting environment in Maui.

This zipline fun activity does not require any past experience or training. Unlike some zipline that needs you to know some basic stuff like how to slow down using glove or how to handle when you get stuck in the middle of the zipline, here the stuff will take care of everything including landing. What you need to do is to free yourself and just enjoy. It contains five zipline courses and a skywalk bridge. I love the last zipline most. That one is the longest zipline that I have ever tried. Also, it has a great view. The max speed reaches 40 mph, and we go forth and backward multiple times. Shin uses the ladder to help us go down the zipline. That’s really fun!

Lanai is worth seeing (once) and we are glad we went. We chose this tour because we didn't just want to go snorkling or sit on a beach but wanted to see the whole island. We did not want to drive ourselves and wanted some history. Unfortunately, the tour company booked our full day tour along with another couple's half day tour. Our guide Tony is a really nice person, but as he said, they only call him when the other regular guides are all booked. He struggled to make two different tours work together, and we were the losers. We simply drove to Garden of the Gods, had a brief moment outside the GM four wheel drive suburban (in which my wife and I sat in the far rear seats for the time with the other couple, which was pretty uncomfortable), and then drove back and out to Shipwreck beach. Then Tony dropped us off to buy our lunch in Lanai City while he drove the other couple to the ferry to conclude their half day tour. He picked us up at 1:30 in Lanai City, and we drove around about every street which was sociologically interesting but not much about seeing the island. Then we drove to the old pineapple loading harbor, and down to the residential area around the Four Seasons at the beach. We asked to terminate the tour early and took an earlier ferry back. Tony repeated most of his morning stories in the afternoon. He is a nice guy, a safe driver and grew up on the island so had many personal stories, but not a lot of history outside the personal stories.

Do not take this tour unless the company confirms that they are not booking two conflicting tours together. Try to get the other guides.

A few years ago, I participated in a tour with another company and it rained, so I joined this time for a revenge tour, but it rained again. I was added to the list for a free next time, and I thought the response was good compared to the previous tour with the other company. I planned to try again the next day, but I received a call just before noon that day saying there was about a 50% chance of rain, so I decided to save the revenge for my next trip. Bruce was a fantastic guide. He was really passionate and knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Can highly recommend it especially if you can get Bruce to show you around. We did the half day tour and saw a lot and then spent the rest of the day on the beach. Do this if you want to get the full experience of the island and what it has to offer.

I chose this tour because the sunset is more beautifully crimson than the sunrise, and it was simply easier to participate at that time of day.

On the day of the tour, I was worried that it might be canceled due to the effects of the hurricane, as the view of Haleakalā from the hotel was covered in clouds. However, my concerns were unfounded. As we began to ascend the mountain by car, the clouds became a thing of the past around 2000 meters, and above that, we were greeted with a clear blue sky.

By the time we welcomed the bright red sunset, the temperature dropped significantly, and I put on the down coat provided by the tour to enjoy the breathtaking view.

At this point, the other tour guests had disappeared, leaving just us at the summit. The second part of the tour was about to begin. Our guide, Mr. Yamauchi, had advised us not to look at the sky, and I understood why. The night sky was filled with stars, the Milky Way, and shooting stars welcoming us. We observed the Andromeda Galaxy, red stars, binary stars, and more through a high-resolution telescope. Mr. Yamauchi's clear explanations sparked a sense of curiosity in me that I hadn't felt since childhood.

I climbed Haleakalā during the day 15 years ago, but I was introduced to a completely different Haleakalā by Mr. Yamauchi, and I was very satisfied.

ガイドの山内さんには空を見ないように注意されていましたが、その意味が判りました。
夜空には満天の星と天の川、そして流れ星が我々を迎えてくれています。高解像度の望遠鏡でアンドロメダ星雲や赤星、連星などなどを観測。山内さんの判りやすい説明もあり、子供の頃の好奇心がこの年になって芽生えました。

１５年も前に昼のハレアカラ山に登りましたが、その時とは全く違うハレアカラ山をガイドの山内さんに紹介して頂き、大満足でした。

The trip was truly amazing! We love nature, so we truly enjoyed the trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable. The road was narrow and sometimes scary, but our driver was very skilled and careful. Highly recommended!
