We had a great time on the Road to Hana. Our wonderful guide made some wonderful stops and shared a lot of interesting information with us along our journey. She made sure we got great pictures and had a wonderful experience. I lost the card with her name on it but she told us to call her Auntie. She has lived on the island for a long time and taught us so much about the history. It was all very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour.

I would like to visit again in a different season to see different stars.

The road to Hana (the ACTUAL road) is long and arduous at times. Through tropical rain forest style topography, this part of the island is deep in native history - stories and parables that influence life there to this day. The road is often VERY VERY narrow, and many miles of it, dirt and unpaved. Besides it not being a great idea to put your rental car through that, its much more comfortable taking the guided tour. Our tour guide was highly knowledgeable and shared with us many stories of the rich history. Several stops along the way to swim in pools below waterfalls, have lunch and numerous photo-op stops at black beaches and shoreline vistas. It makes for a LONG day, but well worth it.

Oceanfront Trail Horseback Riding Tour at Maui Mountain Activities Ranch

I’ve ridden horses since I was young and even used to work at a local trail riding center. This was the best ride I have ever been on, especially for a tourist ride. The guides were awesome and very helpful. They were able to help the beginner riders but also made it a fun ride for those who were more advanced. We trotted a lot, the scenery was amazing, and the picture opportunities were beautiful. We also got to try fresh passion fruit. At the end we got to “run” our horses if we wanted to. I expected a leisurely canter, but it was a full on gallop one at a time. I got to let my horse go as fast as he wanted and it was incredible! Highly highly recommend this tour!

First of all, I want to say that if you have the chance, don't hesitate to go! They take you gradually to help you acclimate to avoid altitude sickness, and along the way, they stop at supermarkets and souvenir shops to share recommendations.

A sunset above the clouds is something you rarely get to see. It was so moving that it wrapped me in silence and made me forget my daily life as time flowed slowly. After that, we were treated to a sky full of stars. The constellations were clearly visible, and countless stars spread across the sky. Fortunately, I even saw a shooting star. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture it on my phone, but the surprise of looking up is unforgettable. I recommend bringing a camera if you want to take photos.

And above all, the thoughtful care and entertaining, educational talk from our guide, Yama-P, were also highlights of this tour! Even though we were all strangers, we became friends. I finished the tour with a warm feeling and would love to go again.

そして何より、ガイドの山Pの細やかな気遣いと面白く勉強になるトーク！これもまたこのツアーの醍醐味ですよ！
知らない方ばかりですが、みーんな仲良くなれます。温かい気持ちでツアーを終えました。
何度でも行きたいです。

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with the Rainforest & Waterfall Swim Hike in Maui! We were able to experience it all: pretty tame trails, swimming in cool waters, and cliff diving from the falls. This adventure is appropriate for families (but I wouldn't take very young children), couples, or solos that desiring a peaceful hike.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly the entire hike. He was also very accommodating (I had a shoulder injury at the time) and the hike was still very enjoyable!

There were plenty of times to rest, swim, and eat snacks. Our guide was attentive to our needs and provided other suggestions of what to check out/visit during our stay on the island. I highly recommend!

I felt at ease participating in the tour with a Japanese guide. Since we were climbing over 3000 meters, we took breaks along the way to prevent altitude sickness, and the timing of the breaks was perfect; I felt completely fine. Once we rose above the clouds, the rain that had been falling stopped (which is expected since we were above the clouds), and the view was absolutely breathtaking. While I was taking photos, the sunset began. The moment the sun set was indescribable. After watching the sunset, we enjoyed stargazing with explanations. Yamapi's explanations were a bit fast, and I sometimes couldn't catch everything, but I was captivated by the stories. The discussions weren't just about the stars; they also touched on global issues, the future of the Earth, and the reality that dangerous things are likely to happen, which was sobering. Hearing about his personal experiences and his parents brought tears to my eyes. I found myself crying again during the background music in the car on the way back. It felt like the rigid parts of me had melted away. This tour really makes you reflect on important things. Yamapi is a wonderful entertainer. I hope many people get to participate in this tour.

日本語ガイドという事で安心して参加出来ました。
標高3000m以上登るので高山病予防のため、途中休憩を挟み山頂まで上がりましたが、休憩が絶妙で、全く大丈夫でした。雲の上に上がると降っていた雨もあがり(雲の上だから当然？)視界全てが絶景で、撮影している間に夕陽が落ちてきました。太陽が沈む瞬間は何とも言えない気持ちでした。夕陽を見た後は説明付きの星空鑑賞。やまぴーさんの説明は早口でたまに聞き取れなかったけど話に聞き入ってしまいました。星空の事だけでなく、世界の事、地球のこれから、危険な事は起きていくだろうという話は現実的で身が引き締まる思いになりました。ご自身の体験談、親御さんの事など…話を聞いていたら涙が溢れてきました。帰りの車内のBGMにまた涙が出て号泣。自分の中の凝り固まった部分が溶けたような感じでした。大切な事を考えさせてくれるツアーです。やまぴーさんは素晴らしいエンターテイナーです。沢山の方がこのツアーに参加されるといいなぁと思います。

I was torn between choosing the sunset or the sunrise, and I decided on this tour with a Japanese guide. This was a great decision.

On the way to Haleakalā, we enjoyed various stories about Maui and were introduced to affordable and rare souvenirs, making the journey to the summit fly by without a dull moment.

Once we reached the summit, the seamless explanations continued, and we efficiently took photos in groups without missing the magic hour shutter opportunities.

During the stargazing, we were provided with chairs, gloves, blankets, and warm barley tea, which was greatly appreciated. It was amazing to clearly observe the lunar surface through a high-powered telescope!

Compared to a similar tour I participated in on the Big Island, the level of excitement was completely different. Listening to the guide, Mr. Yamauchi, share his heartfelt stories while gazing at the stars was a touching experience I hadn't had in a while. I hope this tour continues for as long as possible.

You drive up from nearly sea level to the summit at about 3,000 meters. The sunset, with the changing colors of the sun and the clouds transforming in layers after sunset, is captivating and never gets boring. The starry sky afterward takes your breath away. The starry sky over Lake Tekapo in New Zealand's South Island was lovely, but due to the higher elevation, we enjoyed a cloudless sky that day, allowing us to take in a 360-degree view of the stars. The stories from our guide, Mr. Yamauchi, added to the enjoyment.

I went on the self-guided tour. As an experienced cyclist this felt most appropriate. It was as-advertised meaning when they dropped you off you could literally go at your own pace and needed to navigate your way back to the bike shop. I LOVED this part of it. On the drive there the driver went over the turns with us multiple times and even quizzed us to make sure we’d all remember. I even plugged the directions in my phone but didn’t end up needing it. The driver/guide was entertaining telling us stories of the upcountry history and including jokes. Not ‘dad-jokes’ either. This guy was legit funny!!

They do supply you with rain pants and jacket along with a sweatshirt, helmet and gloves. They have all kinds of sizes. It can get really cold at the summit waiting for the sunrise though so suggest bringing your own cold weather layers as well.

I would definitely do this again!

This is a tour guided by "Yamapy-san," whom I had been watching on a certain TV program for several years! The excitement began the moment they picked us up at the hotel! It was indeed a popular tour, and the bus was full, with some participants joining for the second time.

We enjoyed watching the sunset from the summit of Haleakalā, and we were able to take wonderful photos! The stargazing experience allowed us to glimpse Yamapy-san's life and character, and I found myself in tears while gazing at the stars. I felt it was something to share with a loved one.

The "Pineapple Snow" chocolate I bought at the Kula Marketplace we stopped at during the tour was incredibly delicious! Yamapy-san provided detailed recommendations for shops and souvenirs, which were very helpful.

On the way back, soothing music played on the bus. After experiencing various thoughtful touches and hospitality, I returned to the hotel with a warm feeling in my heart.

It was the rainy season, and with the cloudy weather, I had almost given up on seeing the sunset and the starry sky, but I was able to enjoy both during the breaks in the clouds. Unfortunately, it wasn't a completely clear starry sky, but even with all the haze, I could see some stars, which made me think how beautiful the sky must be when the weather is good. I definitely want to come back for a revenge trip.

The guide quickly showed us the stars through a telescope, along with easy-to-understand explanations, and shared various experiences, reminding us that we are all the same Earthlings in this vast universe. The guide had previously been a manager for a super BIG band! During the trip, he didn't mention anything about that, but on the way back, my husband wondered if the participant who was chatting with the guide might be a band member. When we arrived at the hotel, he asked the guide, and it turned out to be true! Thank you for such a valuable experience.

僅かな雲の切れ間から見えた星々を、判り易い解説とともに望遠鏡で手早く見せて頂けたこと、壮大な宇宙の中ではみんな同じ地球人であることなど、様々な経験をされてこられたガイドさんのお話しは、楽しくまた学びのある内容でした。かつて超BIGなバンドのマネージャーをされていたというガイドさん！行程中のお話しでは一切そういった内容には触れられていなかったのですが、帰りの車中で”ガイドさんと仲良くお話しをされてる参加者の方は、もしかしてバンドメンバーの方？”と思った主人が、ホテル到着の際ガイドさんに伺ったところ判明！！！とても貴重な体験をさせて頂きありがとうございました。

Three years ago, I visited during the day, but this time my wife wanted to enjoy the night view and stargazing, which was beautiful.

The pickup at the hotel in Ka'anapali was at 2:30 PM. The well-known Yamapi from Japanese TV came directly to pick us up and, before heading to the meeting point at the shop, he drove us through the town of Lahaina, introducing the shop and various attractions along the way.

At the meeting point, we joined a family from the south, and the six of us first went to a supermarket to buy takeout sushi packs. We also purchased some bargain bottled snacks for souvenirs, and then we finally drove towards the entrance to Haleakalā.

To prevent altitude sickness, we made three restroom stops along the way. After passing through the entrance checkpoint, our guide Yamapi, who has climbed this mountain countless times, drove safely. About ten minutes before sunset, we parked in a crowded parking lot below the summit, which is used by the tour company, and waited for the sunset while enjoying the view. Gradually, the sun disappeared below the horizon, and even after it had completely set, the pale blue night sky spread out in a fantastical array of colors. Such a vast sky is something you can never see in Japan; it’s a grandeur that can only be experienced here.

After the sun went down, Yamapi truly shined with his stargazing expertise. Having been a member of the astronomy club during his student days, he shared an abundance of knowledge about celestial observations. Other tours might just end with looking at the stars, but we used a GPS telescope to observe various stars and even the craters on the moon. カーナパリのホテルのピックアップは14時30分　日本の番組でもお馴染みヤマピーさんが直接ピックアップに来られ集合場所であるショップに寄る前にラハイナの街をドライブしながらショップの紹介やら見所を紹介していただいた。
集合場所のショップで南からのご家族と合流　６人でまずはスーパーへテイクアウトの寿司パックを購入　その他　お土産用のバーゲン品の瓶詰めスナックを購入しいよいよハレアカラの入山道へと車を走らせます　
高山病予防のために３ヶ所のトイレストップを挟みながらどんどん車は進みます。
入山チェックのゲートを通過　どれ程の回数登っているか数えきれないほどの回数をこなしたヤマピーガイドが安全に車を走らせます　日の入り10分ほど前にこみあう山頂駐車場の一段した　ツアー会社の面々が使う駐車場＋サンセットポイントに車を停め夕日を眺めながらサンセットを待ちます　やがて太陽がその姿を少しずつ下へと姿を消していきます　完全に陽が落ちたあとも淡いブルーの夜空が幻想的な色合いで広がる広大な姿を見せてくれます　こんな広い空　日本じゃ絶対見られない　ここでしか見れない広大さ　陽が落ちたあとはヤマピーさんの真骨頂　星空観察　学生時代天文部に在籍して数々の知識を身に付けたヤマピーさんがこれでもかと言うほど　天体観察説明をしてくれます　他のツアーではただ星空を眺めるだけできっと終わってしまうでしょう　GPS天体望遠鏡で様々の星を眺め　クレーターの高さまで見て取れる月面も観察して星空観察は終了　暖かいお茶　暖かい防寒着も準備してあり冷え冷えとした山頂でもゆっくり楽しむことが出来ました。
カアナパリのホテルに戻ったのは22時過ぎ　ヤマピーさん　本当にお世話になりました　マウイの夜を堪能出来ました。天候に左右されるサンセット＋星空ツアー　今夜は恵まれました　マウイへ来たら必須のツアーだと思います。堪能出来ました。

Four years ago, during stargazing at the summit of Mauna Kea, I was able to see the summit of Haleakalā, and this time I participated in the long-awaited tour. The itinerary was easier than Mauna Kea, and I was able to see the stars beautifully. I am grateful for the meticulous planning by our guide, Yamapi. While the grandeur of the summit cannot compare to Mauna Kea, you can see the shadow of the Earth beautifully at Haleakalā. Maui has diverse nature with mountains, waterfalls, and dry areas, which was fantastic. There were hardly any chatty Chinese or Koreans (including Japanese tourists).

At the parking lot a little below the summit, we set up chairs to enjoy the starry sky. It was a rare clear night, and I was deeply moved by the breathtaking view of the star-filled sky. However, the last segment of the mountain peak performance was a bit lengthy; while some people were thrilled, others who wanted to head home might have had mixed feelings about it.

山頂から少し下った駐車場で、椅子をセットして貰っての星空観賞。久しぶりの晴天との事で、隙間が無いくらいの満天の星空に大感動。ただ最後の山ピー節は少々長く、感激している人もいるが早く帰りたい人も居るので少々評価が分かれるかも。

Since it was my first time on Maui, I wanted to join a tour and signed up. Just like many reviews said, it was truly the best tour! I was very moved by the sunset and starry sky seen from above the clouds. Our guide, Yamapi, was very kind, knowledgeable, and had an interesting way of talking, which made the journey enjoyable as well. This time, the weather at the summit was good, and I was very lucky to see a nene! I thought I might not have another chance to come to Maui, but this tour made me want to come back to see that scenery again no matter what! Thank you so much, Yamapi!
