Hawaii
I loved this zipline experience! I took a friend with me, and we had such an amazing time. The instructors were so funny and down to earth. Amazing views over the waterfall.
The tour was super well organized, with a guide who shared interesting insights along the way!
Loved this tour - our tour guide was very accommodating and knowledgeable and we saw some beautiful spots of the island. Definitely recommend this trip as you get to see a lot in one day. My favourite places were the black sand beach with the sea turtles and the Volcanoes National Park (but to be honest, I loved all the sites).
The course felt very well run, safety was clearly a priority, and the transitions between ziplines were smooth.
Loved this tour! We saw so much of the Big Island in a single day. And the guide shared really interesting facts along the way.
A fantastic way to see the islands highlights in one day like the Volcanoes National Park, Waipio Valley (our favorite), black sand beaches, and gorgeous waterfalls.
The tour guide was super knowledgeable and kept a smooth pace, making it easy to enjoy every stop. Highly recommend for a comprehensive island experience.
Such a great day - from the black sand beach to the Waipio Valley lookout and multiple waterfalls, of course with visiting Volcanoes National Park as the standout!!
So many gorgeous stops along this tour, and the guides are so funny and make a long day seem like a breeze.
Zip line over 250 foot waterfall. Great fun. Mirabell & Calista were fantastic guides, made our day.
Highlights included walking through Volcanoes National Park, seeing steam vents and lava fields up close, the stunning black sand beach at Punaluʻu, and panoramic views over Waipiʻo Valley.
It’s a long day, but absolutely packed with jaw-dropping sights and well-paced stops.
Shawn is super polite and well educated in many topics regarding the lava, plant life, history and sites on the islands. He was particularly helpful in suggesting to us to change the itinerary so we could see the active eruption and we are so happy he made the suggestion. 100% well worth the private tour. We changed things up and kinda called audibles throughout the day and Shawn was all about it. We had a great dinner and the day was a total success. Thank you.
If you don’t want to be herded in a tour bus and would like the ability to customize, book this!!
Aloha Monika,
Mahalo for taking the time to share your experience with us! One of my favorite parts of just doing private tours is the ability to call those audibles and customize our itinerary based on our guests desires, or in this case the Volcano. Happy that we were able to get to the Volcanoes NP, see the eruption before it stopped, still be able to take you to the other locations we had planned, and enjoy a great dinner! Thanks again!!
Mahalo,
Shawn
Kilauea was just amazing, I could go every day if it was possible!
I love zip-lining. I had done it in Japan before, but this one is on another level. Gliding while overlooking the canyon is just amazing.
Great course, the waterfall was breathtaking. Overall would do it again!
In general, my family and I had a good experience. Dexter was a fantastic driver and tour guide.
The only thing we did not like is that we had to drop and pick-up people at the airport 3 times, I'd rather spend more time in the rainbow falls than going over and over to the airport.
Be prepare for cook weather, rain, slippery trails, etc.
Aloha and mahalo for your review!
We’re so glad to hear that you and your family had a good experience and that Dexter made a great impression as your driver and guide—he’ll be happy to hear your kind words!
We also appreciate your feedback about the multiple airport stops. We understand how this can affect the flow of the tour, and we’ll be sure to share your comments with our operations team as we continuously look for ways to improve our guest experience.
Thank you for choosing Polynesian Adventure, and we hope to welcome you back again for another island adventure!
Warmest aloha,
The Polynesian Adventure ʻOhana
Brett was an excellent tour guide. Funny engaging and informative. It is a long day as the island is rather large. Greenwell Farms (coffee farm) was our first stop. Excellent coffee! Brett explained the growing and harvesting process, followed by tasting and souvenir purchases. Then on to the Punalu'u sweetbread bakery for treats. I lived the Lilikoi flavored pastry. Nice gift shop also. Next stop was Punalu'u black sand beach with a bonus sleeping turtle. Quick provided tasty lunch at a shady state park. Next into Volcano National Park. Brett has fantastic volcano pics. Kilauea was steeming and erupted hours later. Traveled down a large lava tube, very cool. Huge old lava fields. Next on to Rainbow falls and majestic Akaka falls on the East side of the island. On the North end, we visited Waipi'o lookout for sunset. It was along day, but excellent. Strongly recommend. Brett made the trip very enjoyable.
It is a long day, lots to see.
We flew from Honolulu to Hilo where we were greeted by our tour guide Dexter who was already waiting at the airport. He was born and lived on the Big Island for his entire life so his knowledge of history on the island was phenomenal. We highly recommend this tour and especially if you're lucky enough to have Dexter as your guide!!! Thank you Dexter for making our experience the best!
The weather was nice, with views of the ocean and waterfalls, and I enjoyed the increasingly long zip line while having a banana. I was worried about not being able to speak English, but they were very kind and made me feel at ease. I believe that even those who don't speak English can participate. The seventh zip line had a rainbow over the waterfall, which was amazing! Moreover, the landing spot was also interesting. It might have been a coincidence, but the other participants from California and other countries were all friendly and the tour had a great atmosphere.
I was guided to Waipi'o Valley, Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls, and the botanical garden. Since the guide is American, I recommend this for those who understand English.
Entering the falls can feel a bit dangerous due to the many rocks, but having shoes suitable for the ocean and a floatation device can provide peace of mind. I recommend this for those who want to see the waterfalls and nature of the Big Island.
The Grand Circle Island tour is a great way to have a compact adventure all in one day. It was full of beautiful scenic views of cliffsides, beaches, cooled lava formations, waterfalls, volanic crater, and so much more. You experience a hike through a rainforest with some inclines at times, volcanic steam vents that feel like you're in a sauna, turtle viewing at Black Sand beach, cliffsides overlooking crashing waves, a coffee harvesting & processing walkthrough, a lava tube cave, and much more. Some hikes can be a bit challenging if you have mobility problems but our tour guide Brent is so accommodating and on the HNP Kilauea hike, you can ride along with him to the top of the viewing area if you're not able to do the short walk. Additionally, Brent is not just a tour guide, he will transport you to another time. He wove an amazing storytelling of Native Hawaiin history into the scenic mountains, beaches, historical battleground sites, trees, buildings, fantastical stories, and rich cultural backdrop. I walked away with a deep appreciation for how the Hawaiian island and culture came to be. This was an amazing way to experience the island!
Really easy way to get to see so many fabulous spots around the Big Island without needing to drive and look at directions all day!!
After making a reservation in Japan, head to the store counter at the designated time. It takes a bit of time to enter the tour's specified website and sign contracts in case of accidents. Since there are no Japanese speakers, it can be challenging if you don't understand some English (a translation device is also possible).
After that, you put on the gear, wear a helmet, and head up the mountain in a microbus. If you're wearing a baseball cap, you can wear it under the helmet, but other types are not allowed. Initially, you'll slide down a distance of about 20 meters to get accustomed to it after a safety briefing before starting.
From the second run onward, the distance gradually increases, and finally, you'll have a long run over the valley from a platform about 6 meters high. About ten people are accompanied by two guides, ensuring safety at all times. People of all ages, from children to the elderly, can safely enjoy the beautiful scenery.
We departed the hotel after 8 AM and enjoyed the view of Waipi'o Valley from the Waipi'o Valley Lookout. After that, we visited Akaka Falls and had lunch at the Botanical Garden, staying for about an hour before heading to a waterfall located on the grounds of a certain hotel. We parked the minivan on the hotel property and changed in the separate changing rooms for men and women, which I found to be quite clean. We borrowed life jackets and made our way down to the base of the waterfall to swim. It felt cold at first, but once I got used to it, it was pleasant. We were advised not to get too close to where the water falls due to falling rocks, but we could swim freely elsewhere. We swam for about an hour. After that, we went to Rainbow Falls near Hilo to enjoy the view. We returned to Waikoloa via Saddle Road around 5 PM. I don't think there will be any particular issues even if you don't understand English.
Flying one hour to a volcano that isn't active isn't worth the effort, time or money. We also saw 2 waterfalls, a lava tunnel, a lava field and Hilo, the town with the airport and closest to the volcano park. But again all not worth the time, effort and money to go. Our guide, Dexter was good but he can't make up for the missing attractions.
Wonderful small tour with great guide Henry ✨️ lots of fantastic information and lovely attractions. Lunch was awesome too by Millies! Yum great value and excellent tour guide Henry
We thoroughly enjoyed the Grand Circle Island Tour. We had the opportunity to visit so many different parts of the island and experience the true beauty of the Big Island. The tour was well planned and Neil was an amazing host!
I definitely recommend that all visitors try this tour at least once!
We had the most AMAZING time ziplining!! It was a little rainy/misty but that didn't take away from the experience at all! The crew was informative, funny and put our safety as their number one priority.
First timers will experience an exhilaration rush of amazing views. Even if you are afraid of heights don’t be, the crew are professional experts to ease your worries. They know what they are doing (with a flare of joking) to take your nerves from reminding you you’re going to be hundred of feet up in the air. It’s worth it! You’ll appreciate the picturesque palm trees, streams and lastly the huge waterfall. This took my breath away but in a good way. Bring your camera for all the unforgettable shot. What you show all your social media friends and family will surely make them jealous. Love the experience highly recommended!
