Hawaii
Great team of experts! This was my first time out in the ocean and it was a blast. They know what they’re doing and will make sure you’re safe the whole time. Will definitely check them out again in the future!
We got to see plenty of tropical fish and even a sea turtle up close, which was the highlight. As well, the crew was friendly teaching the ropes to the scooters!
The cage was secure and the guides stayed nearby the entire time to ensure everyone was comfortable. We saw several sharks circling which made the experience even more incredible.
The breakfast and open bar were a great bonus, and everything was well presented and enjoyable. The boat was comfortable with plenty of space to move around and take photos. The morning conditions were calm, making a smooth sail.
The catamaran was comfortable and offered space for viewing and photos. The morning timing was perfect with calm waters and beautiful scenery along the Maui coastline
The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire tour relaxing and enjoyable and we were lucky to see several whales
We saw colorful tropical fish, coral reefs, shipwrecks, and sunken airplanes!
The boat on the way there was quite rocky, but the submarine was steady and very beautiful. Since we went on the day of arrival, I got a bit sleepy along the way, but it was fun!
I wanted to have a Hawaiian experience that even children could enjoy, so I signed up for the Dolphin Encounter. The program lasts about 30 minutes, during which participants take turns touching the dolphins, feeding fish, and taking commemorative photos. The experience of being so close to the dolphins in the same pool is rare, and my 6-year-old child and my wife both had a wonderful time.
After the program, we explored the park and fed the turtles and birds. The park itself isn't very large and has fewer activities, but the relaxed atmosphere was very pleasant.
On the day of our visit, there were at least two staff members who spoke Japanese, and they not only explained the dolphin interaction program but also greeted us every time we crossed paths in the park, creating a homely atmosphere. During the program, the explanations were given in English by specialized staff, but I believe that children would not have any trouble if they just watched the staff's gestures.
When using the shuttle bus, there are early (2 PM) and late (4 PM) return options from the park. We chose the late option, but since the park isn't that large, we had some extra time on our hands. I t
Took the family and everyone had a good time. Fairly standard aquarium. Would go again.
I was very satisfied to be able to interact so closely with the dolphins and also have photos taken. The staff were kind, and I had a great time.
What started out as a rainy morning ended up changing our destination for snorkeling. The crew was fantastic and had a plan to pivot so that we could still get in some snorkeling. By the time we arrived at our new snorkeling spot of Molokini Crater, the rain had stopped and the sun came out for a brief appearance. Due to it being whale season around the islands, dolphins are few and far between per the ship's captain. Whales were a fine alternative to spot and follow for a while on our cruise back towards Maui and during lunch. The grilled lunch options were good and hit the spot after some snorkeling.
Interested in marine life, ask away. The crew is very knowledgeable.
Hawaii is in its rainy season, and indeed, it rained the day before, but the weather was nice and calm on the day of our trip. During the shuttle trolley ride from Waikiki to the port, we were warned that the boat is small and the restroom is really only for emergencies, so it's best to use the facilities at the port. The public restrooms at the port have a very old-fashioned feel, so if you're concerned, it might be a good idea to bring some flushable tissues.
As soon as we set sail, we spotted about three dolphins jumping in the distance, as if they were sending us off. There were no Japanese announcements on board, but judging from the shuttle trolley, I think there were a few other Japanese guests besides us.
Now, regarding the whales, we saw their backs breaking the surface of the water several times. According to the captain's explanation, it seems that a baby whale was practicing swimming.
Oh, and about the snacks on board, hot coffee was very popular. When we boarded, they had just run out, and since it would take time to brew more and we were about to set sail, I gave up on that. The donuts? Malasadas? They were almost sold out, likely because there were many families with children. We were told that there was a water dispenser over there for self-service, so I just drank water. In other words, unless you can get to the port early and board on your own, I wouldn't expect much in terms of snacks.
Back to the whales, they tried putting a microphone underwater to see if we could hear the whales' voices, and it seemed like it was quite a hit since many similar boats gathered around. However, the engine noise from those boats was louder, so it seemed we missed out on that. We did see some jumps, but capturing them in photos was difficult. The shape of a whale's tail fin is said to differ from individual to individual, like fingerprints, so the captain explained that if you send a photo of the tail fin to the appropriate site, they can identify the whale.
On our way back, they mentioned that we were running a bit late and would be returning to the port at full speed, which made me think they were really trying hard. All the staff were very efficient in their movements, yet they were friendly and approachable, which made for a pleasant experience.
The boat will speed up and suddenly stop. It's a good idea to take measures against seasickness.
Fun experience, guides were very knowledgeable.
Didn't see nearly the fish that I thought we would.
Man-made reef so not really colorful.
Fun to say we went on a submarine.
Can't believe how many Manta Rays & how close they were.
Crew & woman in the store we're all fantastic.
Gets chilly in the water by the end of your time.
In April, there might be fewer whales themselves. It felt like a tour where we were just watching a pair of parent and baby whales for a long time. The guide was a very fun person, and the tour itself was enjoyable!
We had a great time on our cruise. Great sights and wonderful staff!
Highly recommended!
As soon as the boat set off, we were able to see a pod of dolphins. It was amazing to see them up close so quickly, and afterward, we spotted three whales and got to see their beautiful tails. As we continued on, we encountered another whale swimming by, and I was incredibly moved to see it slowly swimming beneath us while we were snorkeling after jumping off the boat. We also saw another pod of dolphins and went snorkeling where there were fish, and we even met a sea turtle. I think it was a very lucky day, filled with continuous excitement. Thank you very much!
After the morning meeting, it was cold when I got out of snorkeling, so I recommend bringing a towel to dry off and wear a jacket.
Mahalo nui and a hui hou!
I chose this tour on a large ship because I was worried about seasickness. The observation deck had some swaying, so I watched from a cabin on the first floor, but I was still able to see the whales' spouts and tails. It seems that those who are less sensitive to motion can see much more from the observation deck. The pineapple banana cake was delicious.
If you're going to the observation deck, you need to prepare a hat and sunglasses that won't get blown away, as well as sunscreen.
It was a very rare experience to see actual whales up close.
I was also surprised that we could hear the sounds of whales underwater.
It was a tour that left the whole family very satisfied.
I heard that the encounter rate with whales is higher from morning to evening, but I made a last-minute reservation, so mine was scheduled for the early afternoon.
I heard from other participants tha
Glad to hear you had a wonderful whale watch and had a fun whale encounter with us! Yes the location is a temporary location since we are still unable to return to Lahaina Harbor after the wildfire, once repairs are complete by the State we will return to our location at Lahaina Harbor which is much easier to find, mahalo!
At the end of March, we took a daytime departure. What we saw was a mother and baby whale swimming alongside us and spouting water. Since we participated during spring break, the morning and evening trips were fully booked. If you're expecting to see the dynamic whales that you often see in photos, it might be better to consider the timing and season.
This is the only opportunity to show children wild whales. It's worth participating in as an experience.
I was able to see whales. I'm glad I participated. There was no rocking that would cause seasickness, so even family members who usually get motion sickness enjoyed it until the end. The deck of the boat has a decent amount of wind, so I think a jacket is necessary. I brought one and used it. A hat that won't blow away in the wind would be a good idea. The explanations from the guide are in English, so I think at least one person in the family should be able to understand English.
The guide told us that if we couldn't see them, we could try again, so I was half-expecting it, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. In the first half, they didn't show up much, but once we went out to sea, a mother and baby whale swam close to the boat the whole time, which was amazing! ♪
Well worth the money. I would highly recommend Dolphin Quest to any animal lover. An experience you will find hard to match.
The shuttle bus was comfortable. Departing at 5:30 AM was a bit dreary, but it wasn't cold in the morning, and you can make good use of your time afterward, so I recommend it. Our guide, Ken, was reliable and very pleasant, and I appreciated his help a lot. There are no restrooms on the boat, but there are public toilets at the boarding area. We were able to see both dolphins and whales, but it can be tough for those who can't swim. It was harder than I imagined, but that also made it rewarding.
Just in case, bring some motion sickness medication. Since it's cold, I recommend bringing a windbreaker and extra towels.
Mahalo nui and a hui hou!
Great your! An added surprise and probably the highlight of the tour for me, we saw so many dolphins and they got up close and personal with us! We also managed to spot a few whales and a baby! Wren and Ryder were both fantastic also. Definitely worth the price!
It gets windy and you’re going to get a little wet!
Jenna, Kevin and the entire crew were fabulous. A Wonderful morning!
This is my third visit to the park. In the previous two visits, there were issues with the bus, which made me worry, but this time it was great. The bus was on time, and the driving was careful, which made me feel at ease. Inside the park, there were staff members who spoke Japanese, so even if you don't understand English, you can enjoy your time without worry. The staff is very kind and attentive. They also have a wealth of knowledge about dolphins and taught me a lot. I want to come back again next year. Interacting with the dolphins was a lot of fun; we fed them, took pictures, and even got splashed by them while playing with my child. The park is not an aquarium but a marine park where you can have various experiences. Even small children can enjoy it.
I think it's best to wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and that you don't mind getting dirty, as participating in stylish outfits can be quite challenging. The dolphins are very accomm
thank you for sharing, i like the boy with bird on head, nice photo shot, and the lagoon scenery is a nice sunny clear day.
The dolphin experience at Sea Life Park was a highly satisfying activity where you can easily interact with dolphins. If you want to create a memorable Hawaiian experience, I highly recommend it!
The early morning bus departed in the dim light, and Sean was kind enough to stop by Starbucks. I had heard there were no restrooms on the boat, so it was great that we could use a public restroom before departure. The boat was beautiful!! Perhaps because everyone took motion sickness medication, none of us felt sick at all. But that might also be because the tour was packed with so many activities that it left us completely exhausted. Thanks to the cool, beautiful-voiced captain and Ken from Japan's attentive support, we dived wildly, swam, laughed, and breathed heavily—it was an incredibly fulfilling tour. Amazing!
It's harder than I thought, but it's fulfilling. I recommend renting a wetsuit for $10. It's cold, so be prepared.
Mahalo nui and a hui hou!
