Every time I visited the Big Island, I applied for a helicopter tour of Kilauea Volcano, but I never succeeded due to bad weather or unfavorable wind conditions—six times for me and two times for my wife. This year, I wanted to finally make the volcano helicopter tour happen, so I applied to a different helicopter company with a Japanese pilot. However, since I applied close to the date, even foreign pilots were fully booked. Eventually, I managed to secure a reservation with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, not being particular about having a Japanese pilot.

Fortunately, our helicopter pilot was Japanese. A German father and son who came from Singapore, a Japanese newlywed couple, and my wife and I—six of us in total—took off on this helicopter tour (Photo 1). Although there was quite a strong wind that day, the helicopter was stable, and the ride was comfortable with hardly any significant turbulence. Since there were four Japanese passengers, the pilot provided explanations in Japanese as needed, which made it very easy to understand. We toured both craters of Kilauea and were able to see orange lava, fulfilling a long-held wish (Photos 2, 3). The lava reached the coastline through a lava tunnel, creating steam (Photo 4).

After seeing the volcano at Kilauea, we went to Waipi'o Valley and enjoyed the beautiful coastline (Photo 5). I was very satisfied to see the red lava from the helicopter and returned to the hotel.

これまでハワイ島を訪れる度にキラウエア火山ヘリコプター遊覧を申し込みましたが、私は6回、家内は２回、悪天候、風向きが悪い等の理由で一度も実現したことがありませんでした。今年こそ火山ヘリコプター遊覧を実現したいと日本人パイロットで別のヘリコプター会社に申し込みましたが、期日がせまってからの申込みのため外人パイロットですら予約満杯でした。そしてやっと日本人パイロットにこだわらないとして申し込んだブルーハワイアンヘリコプターの予約が取れました。
幸運にも我々のヘリコプターのパイロットは日本人でした。シンガポールから来たというドイツ人親子（お父さんと息子）、日本人の新婚さん、我々夫婦の6名がこのヘリコプターの遊覧に飛び立ちました（写真１）。この日は結構強い風が吹いてましたがヘリコプターは安定しておりほとんど大きな揺れはなく快適な遊覧でした。日本人が4名乗っていることからパイロットが適宜日本語で説明してくれるのでとてもわかりやすかったです。キラウエアの二つの火口を遊覧しましたが、ともにオレンジ色の溶岩を見ることが出来て長年の願いが叶いました（写真２，３）。火口から溶岩トンネルを通じて海岸線にまで達し水蒸気があがっていました（写真4）。
キラウエアで火山を見た後はワイピオ渓谷に行き、きれいな海岸線を見ました（写真５）。
赤い溶岩をヘリコプターから見ることが出来て大満足でホテルに帰りました。

I booked this trip with my girlfriend over the phone and it was very convenient and turned out like I planned it to, I got all the info I needed and all I had to do was be there on time which wasn't an issue. The skydiving experience was definitely worth it I would definitely go back another time. The staff was friendly and kept us informed on what we needed to do and it went smooth. I would for sure recommend doing the ultimate instead of the regular because you freefall for 60 seconds which goes a lot faster when you are up there and it's an awesome experience and depending on who you fly with they will let you control the parachute for awhile. Definitely give it a try I wasn't disappointed whatsoever!!

I was really satisfied to participate in skydiving with my family, something I had wanted to do before I die! There was some anxiety about jumping, especially since one of my family members has a fear of heights, but we were with high-quality professional staff, so even my scared family members had a blast! Seeing their happy faces made me really glad I participated.

I participated in a tour that took us around Kilauea Volcano, over Hilo, along the eastern coastline of the Big Island, and through Waipi'o Valley. It was my first experience in a helicopter, and I was truly moved by the magnificent natural scenery of the Big Island. The pilot provided guidance in both English and Japanese, which made for an immersive and informative experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone.

We arrived at the helipad we spotted on the way from the airport to the hotel, picked up by the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. We were the only Japanese couple there. We received instructions in fast-paced English, but as long as we could catch some words, we managed. We stored everything except our cameras and water bottles in lockers, put on life vests, and waited while watching a safety video. Everyone was excited by the sound of the helicopter returning with the previous group. After the helicopter returned and underwent maintenance, we had to wait quite a while. Due to nerves, everyone kept needing the restroom, but there was only one unisex restroom, so it got crowded.

There were about 20 people in our time slot. We were grouped based on our participation unit and weight, and we shared the helicopter with two other couples and six individuals. We communicated through headphones and handheld microphones. Even if you're not good at English, the staff is friendly and engages in conversation, so it's fine to speak in broken English.

As we ascended, background music played effectively, and the optimal music for each spot was prepared, which further lifted the mood. Unfortunately, I have a weak vestibular system, and shortly after ascending, I started feeling nauseous and couldn't look down when we approached the most scenic spot near the magma. I managed not to throw up, but I held onto an etiquette bag the whole time. The etiquette bag was stuck in front of my seat, but since I was firmly secured with the seatbelt, it was out of reach for someone petite. I couldn't reach it, so I gestured to my tall husband to get it for me, but I think those with a weak vestibular system should move it closer to them beforehand.

Unfortunately, I felt nauseous, but it was undoubtedly a valuable experience to see breathtaking spots that are normally inaccessible up close.

マウナケアビーチホテルからのピックアップで空港からホテルへ向かう道中に見かけたヘリポートに到着。日本人は私達夫婦だけでした。早口の英語で指示を受けますが、単語が聞き取れればなんとかなります。カメラとペットボトル以外はロッカーに入れて救命胴衣を装着、安全ビデオを見てその時を待ちます。前の時間帯のパーティーを乗せたヘリが戻って来る音でみんな大興奮。前機戻って来てヘリの整備やらでその後結構待ちました。緊張でみんなトイレが近くなるのですが、トイレが男女共用で1つしかないので混雑します。
同じ時間帯の組は20名ほどでした。参加単位と体重で乗る組み合わせを振り分けられ私達はカップル2組と6名で同乗。ヘッドホンと手持ちのマイクで会話します。英語が苦手でも楽しく話しかけてくれるので片言でも大丈夫です。
上昇とともに効果的にBGMが流され、スポット毎に最適なBGMが用意されているのでさらに気分が盛り上がります。
私は三半規管が弱いため上昇してほどなくして気持ちが悪くなってしまい、一番の絶景スポットのマグマへの接近で下を向くことができませんでした。なんとか戻すことはありませんでしたが、ずっとエチケット袋を抱えていました。座席前に刺さっているエチケット袋ですが、身体ががっつりシートベルトで固定されているので小柄な方では手が届きません。私は届かず背の高い主人にジェスチャーで即して取ってもらいましたが、三半規管が弱い方は事前に手元に移動しておいた方がいいと思います。
生憎気持ちが悪くなってしまいましたが、普通では立ち入れない絶景スポットを目近で見られるので、とても貴重な経験が出来たことは間違いありません。

I'm really glad I did it!!! It’s something you should do at least once in a lifetime, and it was the best time! I was a bit scared and wondered if I could really jump, but with the instructor there, once you go up, you have no choice but to jump... The most nerve-wracking moments were when they were putting on the gear and when I was about to get on the helicopter.

However, once I saw the magnificent scenery, the excitement outweighed the fear!!! If you come to Hawaii, this is definitely something you should do☆ I thought it would be expensive, but I asked for photos and I'm satisfied with how they turned out. It was reassuring that there were staff members who could speak Japanese, and I really think everyone should try it at least once in their lifetime!

一生に一度でいいですが、最高の時間でした！怖くなってほんとに飛べるのかな、、、と少し不安でしたが、インストラクターさんがいるのでもう上まで行ってしまうと飛ばざるを得ない・・・。一番緊張したのは器具付けてもらってる時とか、ヘリに乗る瞬間でした。
でも壮大な景色を見たら怖さより感動が上回りました！！！
ハワイに来たら絶対やるべきです☆私はお金かかるなぁ・・・と思いながらも写真をお願いしましたが、撮ってもらって満足してます。
日本語を話せるスタッフさんもいるので安心でしたし、一生に一度は是非やってみたらいいと思います！

I was filled with fear and anxiety before participating, but once I joined, the beautiful sea below was stunning and I had a great time!

Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day and we didn't reach the highest altitude, but it was still more than enough.

Depending on the weather, it might be canceled, so if possible, I recommend participating in the morning when the air is clearer!

I went skydiving for the first time in Hawaii! Since it was 4,200 meters, the free fall lasted about a minute and was incredibly fun! I couldn't hear my own voice even when I screamed. You can jump in a T-shirt and shorts.

After opening the parachute, there were occasional jokes from the instructor, and be careful because looking down can make you feel a bit nauseous.

I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful sky and scenery of Hawaii!

The tour itself isn't cheap, and if you buy memory with photos and videos and pay tips, it will cost nearly 50,000 yen in total. However, considering what you gain, 50,000 yen is a good deal. I definitely recommend purchasing the photos and videos.

Four of us men went skydiving for the first time! And we were all in our mid-40s, so it was quite a challenge. I was really scared when I saw my friend dive and fall at an incredible speed, but once I jumped, it turned out to be surprisingly okay. While I was in the air, my mind went completely blank, but when my feet touched the ground, I felt a sense of relief, and we all had smiles on our faces♪ It truly became a precious experience.

Also, I forgot my watch in the locker, and when I contacted them just to give it a try, they actually searched for it and delivered it to my hotel later. I also received email support from VELTRA, which was really helpful. I thought it would be impossible to get back something I lost while traveling abroad, but this time I was lucky.

Thanks to that, my travel memories are all good ones. Thank you very much♪

男４人で初めてのスカイダイビング！しかも４０代半ばのオッサンばかりでチャレンジしました。最初にダイブした友人の落ちる速度が すごく早くてビビりましたが、いざ飛んでみたら意外に大丈夫でした。飛んでいる最中は 頭が真っ白でしたが、地面に足が着くと安堵感と共に、みんな笑顔♪ほんとに貴重な体験になりました。
そして、ロッカーに忘れた腕時計、ダメ元で連絡したところ、ちゃんと探してくださり後日ホテルまで届けてくれました。VELTRAさんにもメールで対応してもらい、本当に助かりました。滞在中に無くした物が戻ってくるなんて、海外では絶対無理だと思っていましたが 今回はラッキーでした。

Absolutely amazing!!
There are so many views that you can only see by skydiving, and you get a sensation like nothing you've ever felt before.
The person who dove with me was incredibly cool! They really tried to ease my nerves by talking to me a lot, and we had a fun conversation; they were very kind. I regretted not being able to speak more English during my week in Hawaii...
If I ever come back to Hawaii, I definitely want to do it again, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Hawaii.

I brought my daughter and granddaughter to visit my parents who live in Hawaii. My parents had never done the helicopter tour and it exceeded our expectations. Our pilot was also a biologist and gave us lots of information about the island. The kids (teenagers) couldn't stop smiling. We had four generations in that helicopter and all of us loved the experience. Highly recommended.

The weather in Hawaii is unpredictable. Just when I thought it was going to rain, it cleared up and a rainbow appeared. Although we arrived at the site early to do paper work and all, the office staff were rude. When I asked a question I was given a short snappy reply with th a quick closure of the sliding window on my face. No further questions could be asked afterwards. At the end during payment transaction for pictures and videos, they had no record of prior payment for the jumps I made and double charged me. They needed to take the time to answer questions at the beginning or explain the process for charges, or at least take the time to go over the charges as they asked for payments. When I tried to explain that I was being double charged, they got irritated that I didn't let them know at the beginning. They are running a high risk business, therefore they need to demonstrate complete confidence and accuracy to customers in all aspects of the business from the beginning to the end.

I was worried about the weather, but by the time we took off, it was partly sunny and cloudy. The first orientation was in fast-paced English, which made it difficult to keep up, but I managed to understand the main points. We progressed along the coastline through clouds and occasionally fog. I was surprised and excited to see lava peeking through cracks in the rocks. From the crater, I could see the lava glowing red, and there was steam as well. The pilot made several turns to give us a better view. I understood the English fairly well. I’m not sure if it would have been better if the weather had been nice, but it seemed that the tour was canceled in the morning due to bad weather, so it was lucky for those of us who had reservations. It was a four-seater helicopter, but it was nice that there were only three of us from the family. Another helicopter had two couples, and it seemed a bit cramped. However, before boarding, there was a feeling of being strangers, but after we landed, we exchanged firm handshakes, which felt like a connection among those who shared the same experience.
