Kilauea Volcano Doors-Off Helicopter Tour from Hilo [Not Operating]

After reading the detail for this tour we were extremely disappointed with what we experienced. We were a party of 4 who were split over 2 different tours. We thought this was due to weight restrictions which we couldn't understand because we are all average but in hindsight realise it was because we all wanted doors off. The pilot was great gave lots of detail and interesting facts. The flight was wonderful experiencing doors off just unfortunate the tour has not been revised since the lava stopped flowing and you spend the majority of the flight flying over blacken ground which becomes boring very fast. We were looking forward to seeing the waterfalls but this was a quick fly over and back to base so felt let down with this also. We had another couple on our flight as did my sister on her flight and all eight of us were extremely disappointed with what our tour delivered for the cost. The company really need to change the itinery for this tour to make it an experience to remember as it obviously once was when the lava was flowing.

Since my mother has difficulty walking, a tour that involves a lot of walking was not possible, so I signed up for this one. It takes about an hour and a half to drive from Waikoloa, but the road is almost straight, so I was able to get there without any mistakes using Google Maps. There are no doors, so the wind comes in strongly, making it quite cold. My mother seemed to really enjoy the best position next to the driver, as she could see both the front and the surroundings. We were also able to see how the lava flows into the sea while circling around the crater. Definitely worth it!

If you like roller coasters, I definitely recommend it if you have the chance.

On the shuttle bus, I was filled with excitement as I signed a bunch of waiver documents!

The time it took to ascend to 4,200 meters was another moment of maximum excitement! Then, I dove straight into the clouds! Spinning around, the view opened up to reveal the blue ocean and green mountains! The Earth is round!

I had always wanted to try skydiving. When our company trip to Hawaii was decided, I was really excited, but the other employees didn't agree, so I ended up signing up alone. However, the round-trip shuttle service to the hotel was included, and since they spoke Japanese, I felt safe participating alone.

After arriving and finishing the procedures, I had some free time, which felt a bit long, but once it started, it was fun to watch others come down from below. When it was my turn, I felt a bit nervous jumping out of the Cessna, but I was thrilled by the breathtaking view that unfolded before me, something I had never seen before.

As soon as I landed, I felt a little dizzy, and since I was in the last group, I had to get on the bus right away, which made me feel a bit unwell, but other than that, it was incredibly fun. If I have the chance again, I definitely want to do it again.

Also, I recommend purchasing the video and photos for an additional fee, as you can enjoy them later.

ずっとやりたかったスカイダイビング。社員旅行でハワイへ行くことになったので、張り切っていたのですが、他の社員さんには賛同してもらえず一人での申し込みになりました。
でも宿泊ホテルまで往復送迎付きで、日本語が通じるので、安心して一人でも参加できました。
到着し、手続きが終わってから少し時間があり、時間を持て余すのですが、開始になると下から他の方が降りて来るのを見るのも楽しかったです。
自分の番になり、セスナから飛び出る時に少しビビりましたが、目の前に広がった今まで見たことの無い景色と興奮にずっと大騒ぎしていました。
地上に降りてすぐ少し酔った感じになり、最後の班だった私は帰りのバスにすぐ乗らなければならず、ちょっと具合が悪かったのですが、それ以外はとてもとても楽しかったです。
次にまた機会があれば、絶対にまたやりたいです。
あと、別料金での動画や写真ですが、後から楽しめるので、購入をお勧めします。

Paul Patron was an excellent pilot, made the tour very calm and safe. Informed us interesting facts of the island.This is a MUST do, an experience like no other. We were able to see about 2/3 of Oahu by land on a 10 hr bus tour the day before and then be able to see the same amount of the island in 45 min!! Views were magnificent, just like if you were to see it on National Geographic or something.

I've always wanted to try skydiving, but I didn't have any friends to jump with. This time, the friend I went to Hawaii with was on board. Everyone else was asking, "Why would you do that? You could die!" with negative opinions. But I wanted to challenge myself and give it a try! I'm so glad I didヾ(≧∀≦*)ﾉ〃

We ascended in a Cessna all the way above the clouds, and the voltage was MAX—what an amazing experience! The person I jumped with was awesome too! The wind felt great. I initially planned to purchase photos, but the video turned out to be much more beautiful and captured the moment better, so I decided to go with the video instead.

If you're thinking about it, I highly recommend you experience it!

今までスカイダイビングをやりたくても一緒に飛んでくれる友達がいなく。今回一緒にHawaiiに行った友達はOK,

I was scared of free fall and thought I wouldn't be able to do this either, but once I tried it, it was incredibly fun! The instructors were all delightful people who kept making me laugh. I was worried about not being able to speak English, but there was one person who spoke Japanese, and everyone else understood me even with my broken language, so I didn't have any trouble.

The staff who came to pick us up spoke Japanese. They were the only one on this tour who could communicate in Japanese, but they watched over us until the end!

I’m a university student and participated alone, but the Japanese people around me talked to me, and the staff member who spoke Japanese was especially kind (laughs).

I wore long pants and a short-sleeved shirt, and I brought a hoodie. It was surprisingly cold in the early morning, and the wind was really strong up in the air, so I was glad I had the hoodie.

The pickup was at 4:30 AM. A Japanese person came to pick us up, but the driving was a bit rough. When we arrived at the location, the person had a unique demeanor, and we filled out the application while being scolded (laughs). I had experience at 2000 meters in the past, but this was my first time at 4000 meters. The view was amazing, like diving above the clouds, but I struggled to breathe due to the wind pressure, which was quite painful. Even though it was early morning, gathering at 4 AM was tough, but I was able to sleep for about an hour on the way to the airport.

I was told that there were a lot of people today, so the flight might be a bit delayed, and I was worried about what to do since I had three preschool children being watched by my parents. In the end, I was able to return to the hotel by 9:30.

Since I was participating alone, I was nervous, but I ended up making friends with others who had signed up, so I didn’t feel lonely at all.

Once we arrived at the location, we checked for any missing items on the consent form we filled out in the van, noted how we would handle the camera and video, and handed over the consent form and passport (a copy was acceptable) while waiting for our names to be called.

When my name was called, I had to store my belongings in a locker (which required four quarters) and wait for the instructor. There were many handsome instructors, but there were some hits and misses (sorry about that! Haha).

We prepared together, and once the plane returned, it was time to board!

Then, in about 15 minutes, we dove from 4,300 meters!

I usually don’t get motion sickness, so I was totally fine, but the pressure from the free fall for one minute and equalizing my ears was tough. I initially thought I would only get the photos, but after watching the video that was made, I ended up buying it too.

At first, I thought, "Maybe I didn’t need the video..." but after returning home and showing it to my coworkers, I was glad I bought it! For those who are going soon or are on the fence about it, I highly recommend getting the video!

フリーフォール1分間の風圧と耳抜きが大変だった。
結局写真だけとおもっていたけど出来上がった動画の上映を見て動画も買ってしまった

すぐは「動画はいらなかったかも…」って思ってたけど帰国して職場の人に見せたりするのに動画も買ってよかった！
と思った。
今からの人、迷ってる人は動画おすすめです！

At first, I signed up for skydiving on a whim, but it turned out to be a great decision.

The diver who took care of me helped ease my nerves while we were in the Cessna, and even after we jumped, they took lots of photos in various poses. Once we were under the parachute, they explained the islands of Hawaii to me. The photographer was also cheerful and energetic, raising the excitement before the jump and capturing many wonderful photos.

Although the photos and videos come at a cost, seeing the final products made me feel it was worth it. Even after returning to Japan, I find myself smiling while looking at the pictures.

The only challenging part of the skydiving experience was dealing with the overseas insurance. I couldn't apply for insurance online, so I had to go directly to an insurance agent.

But it was definitely worth going through all that!

初めは勢いで申し込んだスカイダイビングでしたがやってみて大正解でした。

私を担当してくださったダイバーさんは、セスナ機の中で緊張していたら緊張ほぐしてくださいましたし、飛んでからも色んなポージングで写真を撮り、パラシュートになってからはハワイの島を説明下さいました。
カメラマンさんも明るく、ノリよく、飛ぶ前からテンション上げてくれ沢山素敵な写真を撮ってくれて下さいました。

写真や動画は値段はしますが、出来たものを見るとやって良かったと思いました。
日本に帰ってからも写真を見てニヤニヤしています☺️

スカイダイビングで大変だったのは海外保険の加入に手間取ったことです。
ネットの保険は申し込めなかったので別で直接保険屋さんへ対応頂きました。
