Great Ride to the Sandbar

- Everything was great everyone had a good time.
- We enjoyed the options, it was more of a free time at the sand bar situation. If you don't want to snorkel, they leave you at the boat. But, you'll still have access to the SUP and floaties to play at the sand bar. I spent some extra time with the SUP and tossed a football around with some other guys. You can walk around the sandbar and take more pictures. Someone is always around to make sure everything is ok.
- wife went snorkeling, they kindly ask about your swimming abilities and if you're a weaker swimmer they'll keep an eye on you. I also noticed they proactively hover around families with kids incase they needed help.
Everyone felt safe and comfortable the entire time.

My husband and I had a great time. He was 12 weeks out from recovering from a pelvic reconstruction surgery and the staff were so accommodating! He enjoyed the boat ride and made it into the water for one snorkel spot! I even got inked on by an octopus! Great day on the water with attentive staff!

Amazing crew but no sight of a fish

The crew was amazing but we did not see a single fish. The water was not clear, I could not even see people next to me. It was just swimming tour. That’s all. If you want to see snorkeling and see fishes, I suggest do either submarine or go the north shore to Shark’s Cove.

Captain Zodiac Kealakekua Bay Snorkeling Tour & South Kona Sea Cave Expedition
The highlight of our Big Island trip!

We stumbled upon Zodiac Rafting after getting declined at two other places but everyone in our group said they would have regretted going with anyone else!
First of all, they have all COVID safety measures in place. Temp check, all staff with masks, smaller groups so we felt comfortable and safe.
Second, the staff! Jennifer at reception was so sweet and accommodating. And Captain Collen, he’s the best! Knowledgeable and experienced without being overbearing or too chatty. Made sure we had the best ride, safe snorkeling trip, took us to special locations to see the Big Island in all it’s beauty and kept checking that we were having a good time and no one was uncomfortable. And they even provided reef safe sunscreen which we thought ours was but Captain explained it was not. They’re really passionate not only but people having a good time but that the natural life on the Big Island is protected and safe. We really appreciated that.
And let’s not forget, we had a private boat because it was just our family on the trip. So it was even extra special!
So don’t waste your time elsewhere. Just go straight to Zodiac people!

This was fun. Not to hard to get out to the sandbar and the scenery is amazing. For someone that has never kayaked before this was a great first time. My group agreed that we would do this activity again.

If your doing this for the snorkeling dont do it!!!

I paid 93 for the snorkeling thinking it be something to remember.. but the only thing I’ll remember it the waist of money it was my whole family paid and it was a waist. Its a free for all you get trampled and just sucks in all honesty the people are nice and we meet some nice people on the boat but they sell you this amazing experience and its not, you cant see anything at all, if you want to paddle board or go down the slide even kayak this is the place for you but don't do it for the snorkeling it be a waist of money like it was for us … hope this helps another person not make the same mistake we did . After much research about all the different snorkeling excursions we decided to go with this one. Overall the entire experience was great. Captain Bob , Mike and the rest of the crew were extremely accomodating and courteous. The food hit the spot and the service was great.. This excursion even included transportation to and from hotel at No additional cost. I would definitely do this again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a snorkeling adventure.

I am not a good swimmer and had never done snorkeling before. The crew was so great and was watching the poor swimmers and was always next to us giving instructions and reassurance. I felt so safe and before I realize it, I was able to swim and snorkel with confidence by myself. I had so much fun snorkeling and enjoying the fishes and nature under sea. It was definitely an amazing experience!

We went on the sunset cruise and had a great experience. The crew/guides were knowledgeable, fun and helpful. When we got in the water, they knew where to take us for the best viewing.
The Manta Ray's were so cool to see. This should be on your must do activity list. I would recommend it over a regular day time snorkel trip. However, next time I would do the later night time trip. The Manta Rays seem to be more active the later it gets.

This was an incredible experience. Our guide Steven did a fabulous job and gave my wife and daughters the confidence to give snorkeling a real try. I would definitely recommend this again, and then take that experience and go to a better snorkeling location. Great way to try it out and make sure you able and ready before making the expensive snorkeling investment!

Turtle should not be in the title

It says turtle in the title of what this excursion is. It says snorkeling in the title as well. All this was about was taking a bunch of water toys in the middle of the ocean and playing on them. While we were out there, I asked if we were going somewhere else to see the turtles and was told this is nature. Sometimes you see them , sometimes you won’t. Again, this was not about seeing sea turtles and the title needs to be changed. We paid $150 person to jump off side of boat, jump on trampoline, kayak/paddle board and TRY to snorkel in the middle of all this chaos. Tell it like it is and don’t be devious in the title. The crew was the only reason we have 3 stars and tipped on top of what we already paid. They were very nice. But this isn’t what it says it is. Don’t be fooled.

From booking this experience to actual having the experience was AWESOME! Whether you're a beginner or a pro kayaker this is a super majestic and beautiful area to experience kayaking. The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable of the area & scenic snorkel spots to paddle too. All the snorkel equipment is included in the rental. I recommend this place highly.

We went on a 12:15 snorkel cruise and had a great time. Crew was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. 90 mins was just the right amount of time for snorkel. Saw lots of turtles and got great pictures. Snorkel area itself is a little crowded at times but everyone was helpful in locating turtles and respectful of peoples space. Drinks were great after we got back on the boat. Overall A++ experience!

If you are ever on Big Island and looking for unforgettable experience, you have to snorkel with manta rays. They are massive, but completely harmless, and will swim up to and under you. Just have your camera ready and enjoy the show. Dolphin Discoveries took care of all the details and made everyone feel comfortable in the water. I will definitely consider them for other tours!

This was one of the top experiences we had while in Hawaii. Crew was awesome and the sandbar was just amazing. Huge plus that it was so organized and there was so many amenities (floaters, snorkel gear, snacks and drinks too). They sent out a list of things to remember to bring which is super helpful as well. Highly recommend.

Great way to experience the sandbar. Always wanted to go, but didn’t have any way to get there. Fun playing volleyball and snorkeling. Drinks on board was a plus. Loved the fact that the burgers we had on board were cooked on the grill they had on the boat and weren’t dry.

Horrible life vests. Blow up air in them and slowly air releases and don’t realize until in the water. Vests had small holes in them. This is risky for adults and kids. Need to have life jackets so air does not release. Snorkeling is done in the middle of ocean and shore. At times difficult to see fishes and turtles.
