We went to a fast-food restaurant, but it took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive, so time management is important since it doesn’t come out as quickly as in Japan. After that, we went horseback riding. We took a walk on horseback through a small hill covered with trees, similar to hiking. Riding on a natural mountain that hasn’t been maintained felt great. The horses are retired polo ponies, so they are well-trained and manageable even for beginners. It was a very enjoyable day. Thank you to the owner, Mark, and Uchida. I would like to ride here again.

【For Participants】
1. Touching turtles is prohibited by law. There was a person monitoring the beach. If you get closer than 2 meters to a turtle, you will be warned. I was glad that Uchida informed us about this in advance.
2. A group photo will be taken. When we reached a photo spot during the horseback ride, the owner took a photo of each group. Since it will be taken with your own camera, bringing a camera is essential.
3. A Japanese guide is necessary. The owner will teach you how to ride in English and simple Japanese, so you can understand the atmosphere, but if you ask questions in Japanese, I think the answers will be in English, so a guide is needed. Uchida provided detailed instructions in Japanese. There are also signs in Japanese explaining how to ride horses. 最初にドールプランテーションに行きました。30分程度各自で見学します。目的はトイレ休憩がメインであとは、ちょっとお土産を買うくらいだと思った方がいいです。この後、高速道路を使いますが、渋滞するときもあるらしいので、ドールプランテーションでのトイレ休憩は必須だと思います。ここには迷路もありますが、クリアに1時間以上かかるので、絶対にチャレンジ禁止です。次に亀がいる海岸に行き、15分程度見学しました。波が高い日には亀は来ないことが多いそうですが、運よく2匹見れ、写真も撮れました。その後に、ハレイワタウンで65分各自で昼食休憩がありました。内田さんが車で事前にハレイワタウンを一周し、お勧めの店を色々教えてくれたのでガイドブックが無くても大丈夫でした。目的の店にスムーズにいけるようにしてくれて、内田さんの心遣いに感謝しました。ファストフード店に行きましたが、食べ物が出るまでに15分程度かかり、日本のようにすぐには出ないので、時間配分は重要です。その後、乗馬をしました。ハイキングをするような木々の生い茂った小高い山を馬に乗って散歩しました。手入れのされてない自然の山を乗馬するのは気持ちよかったです。ポロ競技を引退した馬たちなので、ちゃんと調教されているので素人でも扱えます。とても楽しい一日でした。オーナーのマークさん、内田さん、ありがとうございました。また乗馬をするならここでやりたいと思います。
【参加者へ】
①亀に触ることは法律により禁止
海岸に監視する人がいました。亀に2ｍ以上近づくと注意されます。内田さんから事前にこのことを注意喚起されていてよかったです。
②写真はグループで1枚撮ってもらえる
乗馬中に写真スポットに来たら、オーナーがグループごとに1枚写真を撮ってくれます。自分のカメラで撮ることになるので、カメラは必須です。
③日本語ガイドは必須
現地でオーナーが馬の乗り方を教えてくれますが、英語と簡単な日本語でされるので、雰囲気で理解できますが、こちらが日本語で質問をしても英語での回答になるかと思いますのでガイドはいると思います。詳しい注意点等は内田さんが日本語でしてくれました。現地に日本語で馬の乗り方の説明書きが掲示されています。実際に馬に乗るときにオーナーが英語で指示してくれたが理解できなかった時に内田さんの通訳が頼りになりました。乗り手の知識不足による操作ミスでケガをするのはよくないので、安全に乗馬をするためにも、このツアーに限らず、日本語ガイドは必要だと思います。（過去の口コミで馬が前の馬を噛み、前の馬に蹴られたと書かれていましたが、馬は前の馬から2メートルは距離を空けるようにオーナー及び内田さんから注意をされていたので、乗り手がきっちりしていれば起こらないミスだったのかと思います）また、乗馬中のケガは自己責任になるという同意書を書かされます。これに関してはどの乗馬ツアーでも同じかと思います。トラブルのリスクを減らすためにも多少値段は上がっても日本語ガイドがあった方が無難だと思いました。
④長ズボンは必須
馬は馬自身の体型しか把握していないので、馬が通れるギリギリで木の横を歩くことがあり、人間の膝が木にぶつかりそうになりました。慣れてくれば馬に指示して事前に木をかわすことができますが、ケガのリスクを減らすためにもジーンズ等厚手の長ズボンをお勧めします。馬の背中は思っている以上に高いです。
⑤自撮り棒禁止
馬は棒を怖がるそうで馬の上では自撮り棒は使わないように言われました。すごく揺れるので写真を撮るのは難しいと思います。片手で手綱を握り、片手で撮影できるなら動画なら撮ることもできます。
【催行会社へ】
①貴重品の保管場所を作ってほしい
荷物は車内に置いて、手荷物はカメラとペットボトル程度にしてと言われました。馬につける小さなバッグに入る程度の荷物しか持参できません。車内は鍵をかけるから安全と言われまし、山の中なので部外者が車上荒らしをするとは考えにくいですが、万が一を考えると不安があります。馬鹿正直に貴重品も車内に置いて行った自分も悪いのですが。（ベルトラのHPには持ち物に両手が空くバッグと書かれていたので荷物は自分で持てると思っていました）ガイドさんによると、オーナーからあまり荷物を持たないでほしいと言われているそうです。確かにあの山の中で物を落とした場合、探すのは大変なのはわかります。お互いが安心できるように貴重品ロッカーがあればいいのにと思いました。

The guide was Jodi, who is half Japanese. She was bright and fun. We first visited a small art museum and souvenir shop, where we learned about the history of Hawaii. While looking at paintings about Hawaiian history, she provided detailed explanations that were very informative (about 10 minutes). Jodi was the only guide who spoke so extensively about history. When we went hiking, she lent us trekking poles for free. At first, I thought I wouldn't need them, but they were incredibly helpful in rough areas. Jodi was knowledgeable about the trees and carefully explained various plants, which was enjoyable. While I think you could hike without a guide, and many people were climbing individually, having a guide is beneficial for learning things like why almost all the plants on that mountain are native to Hawaii, which you wouldn't know just by climbing. I recommend going with a guide. When we reached photo-worthy spots, Jodi took pictures for us from various angles, and they all turned out great. I had been told in advance that my shoes would get muddy, but it hadn't rained for about three days, so my shoes only got a little dirty. There are slippery areas in some places, so I think sneakers are essential. There were quite a few foreigners climbing in bikinis and flip-flops, but that gear is dangerous. They were lightly equipped to swim at the waterfall, but according to Jodi, the water is unsanitary, and swimming can lead to illness. ①歩きやすいスニーカーは必須
ぬかるんでいる場所もあるので歩きやすいスニーカーは必要です。外国人のようにビーチサンダルで行くと多分ケガすると思います。
②チップが必要

あと飛ぶ前も飛んだ後も 写真を撮ったりガイドさんと色々話していたせいか さほど待ち時間はなかったように思います。アクティビティを終えてホテルに着いたのは10時半過ぎでした。思っていたより早かったので お昼寝したのち、買い物などして充分に過ごせました。

There were various attractions along the way, and the guides put on performances, making it a lot of fun.

When I signed up, I thought the price was high, but I believe it was worth even more than that. The guides took photos for us, which we could purchase, but I wish there had been videos as well. I definitely want to participate again next time!

お迎えの車の中では運転手さんが英語でガイドをしていたみたいですが全く解りませんでしたが景色はワイキキとは違い大自然を感じるドライブを楽しむことができました。
着いてからの手続きも英語なので解らず迷っていたら日本人の参加の方に聞きながらなんとか出来ました。
３名のガイドの方に１１人のグループで私たち夫婦が最高齢でガイドの方もそれをわかってかとても親切丁寧に接してくれていました。
初めの練習の時何度か躊躇しましたがここで飛ばなければ後がないと思いきりました（笑）
回数を重なるごとに高所恐怖症ではなかったのではと思うくらいで、最後は片手でカメラを回しながら飛ぶこともできました。途中途中いろんなアトラクションがあったり、ガイドさんのパフォーマンスがあったりとても楽しかったです。
申し込むとき料金高いなと思いましたがそれ以上に価値があったと思います。ガイドさんが写真を撮ってくれて購入することができましたが動画もあれば良かったなと思いました。
次回もぜひ参加したいです！！

The sunset at the summit of Mauna Kea was truly wonderful with the changing colors of the setting sun. Additionally, during the stargazing, I was moved to see the Milky Way, numerous stars, and even artificial satellites flying by. This year, I was also able to take a photo of the lava from Kilauea volcano reflecting red in the clouds, which was fantastic. If you visit the Big Island, I definitely recommend stargazing.

The check-in process using tablet devices and the activities are conducted entirely in English. However, since there are quite a few Japanese participants, it all works out. The safety measures are extremely high to prevent any accidents. About ten people form one group, and three instructors accompany you. By the time you finish the seven courses, there’s a strange sense of camaraderie within the group. There are T-shirts for sale at the shop that the staff also wear, and the design is very nice (I purchased one). The group I joined finished around 12:40, and the return driver asked everyone for their opinions and took us to a restaurant famous for garlic shrimp in the Kahuku area. It turned out to be a very satisfying tour, as we were able to visit a place that would be hard to get to without renting a car.

I reserved a one-hour buggy course. Since there is no shuttle service from the hotel, we scheduled it to coincide with the day we rented a car. As others have mentioned, although the voucher states a 9:30 start time, you need to be there by 9:00, or they will start without you. It seems they start calling names around 9:10. I knew this but still arrived at 9:15 and missed it. However, it was okay. There was another course at 10:30, so I waited a bit and was able to participate starting at 10:30. *Be aware that during peak times, they might refuse you.*

As a note for this tour, a certain level of strength and driving skill is required. Without these, you won't be allowed to ride the buggy, and they are quite strict about it. There was even one person in my group who dropped out.

I participated with my wife, and I wish we had chosen the two-hour course instead of the one-hour course because it was so much fun. The scenery was fantastic, and the weather was perfect with a temperature of 27 degrees in January! Overall, we had a great time.

Photography during driving or riding is prohibited. However, using something like a GoPro that can be attached to your chest is allowed.

For the one-hour course, there is only one photo opportunity. If you want more, I recommend the two-hour course. By the way, if you are late for the two-hour course, I believe it will be treated as a cancellation, so be careful.

1時間コースでは写真の撮影ポイントは1箇所のみです。物足りない人は2時間コースおすすめします。
因みに2時間コースで時間に遅れるとキャンセル扱いになると思いますのでご注意を。

乗馬やロケ地巡りもやってましたが明らかに1人乗りバギーの人が一番楽しそうでした。

I had visited the Big Island several times, but this was my first opportunity to go to the summit of Mauna Kea. While it was possible to get to ONIZUKA on our own, it was not feasible to drive to the summit with a rental car (though I heard some people do manage to get in...). Given the concerns about driving on Saddle Road at night, we decided to book a tour.

Since we were staying at Mauna Lani, the tour bus picked us up last. We spent the morning playing at the beach, and the pickup came around 3:45 PM. It was very convenient that they came right to the parking lot of our accommodation. They informed us in advance to avoid alcohol for six hours to prevent altitude sickness and also contacted us about renting warm clothing.

Unfortunately, it was raining when we reached ONIZUKA, so based on the tour guide's judgment, we had our lunch (a bento-style meal with warm miso soup) in the vehicle and hurried to the summit. Fortunately, the summit was clear, and we were able to enjoy the sunset slowly. I was glad we didn’t take our time eating lunch. It was impressive! After that, we descended (there's a rule that you must leave the park after the sunset) and observed the starry sky. There was also warm tea and cookies available. They took many photos for us (no extra charge), and we were very satisfied. The night sky photos that I couldn't capture with my own camera were a highlight. It was a thoroughly enjoyable tour.

I had brought my own warm clothing, but it was really cold, so I was grateful to be able to borrow some. The road to the summit is quite bumpy, and the return trip on Saddle Road is pitch dark. I truly felt it was a good decision to join the tour.

I have also participated in a sunrise tour on Maui, but it was physically demanding, so I recommend the sunset tour. If you have the time, a sunrise tour could be fine, but you will be extremely sleepy afterward.

山頂が晴れていたので、ゆっくりサンセットを楽しむ事ができました
のんびりお弁当食べていなくてよかった
さすがです！
それから、下山（サンセット終わると公園を出ないといけない決まりです）し、星空を観測。温かい紅茶とクッキーもありました
たくさん写真もとっていただき（別途料金不要）大満足でした
自分のカメラでは撮影できない夜空の写真
大満足のツアーでした

防寒着も持参していましたが、本当に寒いのでお借りできたこと
また、山頂までの道がかなり揺れます。そして帰りのサドルロードが真っ暗です。本当にツアーに参加してよかったと思います。

サンライズツアーもマウイ島で参加した事がありますが、体力的にもきついのでサンセットをお勧めいたします。
時間がある方はサンライズでも構わないと思いますが、ツアー後眠くてたまりません。

I participated with my fifth-grade niece. At first, she was scared, but after trying it once, she said it was fun! (The first ride was a gentle line, but from the second ride on, it was a decent height and length.) We took a big jeep to the location of the lines after the first ride, so there was no turning back! It’s guaranteed to be exhilarating! Although Japanese is not understood, I was able to enjoy it even though I can't speak English ^_^

小学5年生の姪っ子と参加しました。
姪っ子は、最初は怖がっていたのですが1回すると、楽しい！と。(1回目は緩やかなラインだった為、2回目からは、そこそこの高さ、長さのラインに。)
2回目以降のライン場所まで大きなジープで行くので、後戻りもできません！
スカッと！する事間違いなし！
日本語は通じませんが、英語が話せない私でも楽しめました^_^
