This was my second trip to the Big Island. I was looking for something interesting to do with my parents and kids when I happened to become interested in a waterfall, which is a power spot, and decided to join a tour.

I was with a family from the West Coast of the United States during the tour. Although it was in English, we enjoyed nature by picking guava and kukui nuts, squeezing sugarcane juice, and discovering fish!

The highlight was swimming in the seventh waterfall pool and diving from a cliff, which truly felt like a return to childhood. The final lunch was at a breathtaking spot beyond a ranch. We were able to experience the grandeur of the Big Island, and both the kids and adults were very satisfied.

So many things make this the best zip line on the big island including NINE zips, the last one a tandem AND over 1100 ft long but the absolute best part was the tour guides Kalei and Kalani. In fact, Kalani was our ATV tour guide 4 years ago when we were last there. They made this a very fun adventure and encouraged my hubby who was fearful of heights; even he loved it, after the first one! Truly amazing scenery and very fun, patient, and experienced guides. Safety was definitely a priority for them but made our adventure extra special. Thank you Kalei and Kalani!!!

We participated with a total of seven people: my parents in their late 60s to early 70s, their friends, and our family. Almost everyone was riding a horse for the first time. My mother was very worried because she struggles with exercise, but the horses were very gentle and friendly, and everyone enjoyed an hour and a half of horseback riding with the biggest smiles. The scenery was magnificent, and I think it's a very rare experience to be able to ride without a lead horse, even for beginners. The cats were adorable too!

ほぼ全員乗馬は初めて。
母親は運動が苦手なのでとても心配していましたが、馬がとても人になれていておとなしく、全員最高の笑顔で1時間半の乗馬を楽しみました。

On the last day on the Big Island, I booked a sunset dinner cruise. While other options had Japanese guides and mostly Japanese participants, this time there were mostly foreigners. Even on the bus, I couldn't understand what the guide was saying, and I was just trying to get my participation ticket while looking around. However, once we got on the boat, someone who understood Japanese came to explain things, and even though I didn't understand everything, I was able to enjoy the atmosphere with everyone!

The drinks made at the bar on the boat and the buffet food were both very delicious! As expected from a country that values lady first, the staff's attentiveness was excellent and very kind!

Watching the sunset while pleasantly tipsy was truly moving!!

Next time, I want to go with my family!

I chose activities that I could participate in together with my mother-in-law for our trip. Although I couldn't understand all the explanations about the sights and history in the English tour, I was glad to see landscapes that I wouldn't normally be able to experience. The waterfall was average, I think Japanese people don't swim there. The sandwich was quite delicious.

The exhilaration of driving through breathtaking scenery is the best!
The hiking distance was just right, not too tough.
A 67-year-old American couple was able to walk it with ease.

However, I knew it was only in English.
During the hike, we stopped quite a bit for explanations, but we couldn't understand anything, so we felt a bit at a loss during that time.
It would definitely be more enjoyable if you could come with some English skills.

That said, the views are amazing, so that alone might be enough.
The meal with the stunning scenery was unforgettable.

We participated in a 1.5-hour course with a group of five, including two of us and three American family members. We leisurely progressed in a single line through a very spacious and pleasant ranch. Perhaps because there were children, we mostly walked at a slow pace. They also gave us time to stop and take photos along the way. The riding time was exactly one and a half hours. It was fun, but I thought that a 2.5-hour ride might get boring.

This is a great day for an experienced snorkler and, at the same time, individuals less confident in the water. An abundence of sea life, including a manta, a great beach and beautiful vista were all part of the experience. Followed by a smooth but good sail home, it was enough but not too much for a first morning after a late arrival. Food good, crew great and helpful, equipment good and boat comfortable - great for the activity type and well maintained. All in all, a very good experience.

I signed up for a 2.5-hour course, but it ended up being about 2 hours, which was disappointing. Since the tour specifies the riding time, I hoped they would make better use of the time.

This is a horseback riding experience in a very spacious pasture that spreads across the mountainside at an elevation of about 1,000 meters along the Kohala Mountain Road. I aimed for the meeting point by rental car, but there were hardly any houses along the mountain road, which made me feel a bit uneasy as I ventured deeper into the area. However, I was able to easily find the entrance shortly after passing the milestone as directed. There is a reception area a little further up the slope. Since there was already a customer's car parked there, I had no trouble finding it. This reception area is also at a high elevation and offers a great view, but the tour begins after you go further up and around the gentle mountainside. The reception building has a cabin-like style, but it is by no means dirty, and there are Japanese signs, so filling out the paperwork was not particularly difficult. The instructor, a Caucasian woman, can speak a little broken Japanese, but all other instructions are given in English. After borrowing a helmet and listening to the explanation on how to ride the horse, we immediately started riding. The horse was very easy to ride, and there was nothing dangerous about it. Along the way, we could take photos while moving and enjoy at our own pace. Gradually, we ascended, and the view from the horse was very good, allowing us to see the coastline towards Waikoloa in the distance. It would not be an exaggeration to call it a horseback riding and sightseeing tour rather than just a simple horseback riding tour. The weather was clear and comfortable, but the wind was quite strong, making a long-sleeved jacket essential. I had never been on a guided horseback ride at a ranch before, so I was a bit worried, but I was completely satisfied. My husband and I participated together, along with five other foreign guests. There were explanations provided in Japanese. I was surprised by the sudden horseback riding, but just as others had shared in their experiences, the horses were well-trained and made for a pleasant ride. Two and a half hours flew by in no time. The vast ranch, the shining sea seen from the mountains—truly, we had a wonderful time. Other ranches might not offer such an experience. The weather changed rapidly, with clouds, sunshine, light rain, and fog, but it felt like we were one with nature, which made it enjoyable. I would love to ride again.

牧場での観光引き馬にした乗ったことがなかったので心配でしたが、もう大満足。夫と二人で参加しました。他には５人の外国人の方。説明は、日本語で書かれたものが用意されていました。いきなりの乗馬。驚きましたが、他の方の体験談を読んだ通りで、馬はよく調教されており、気持ちよく乗せてくれました。２時間半なんてあっという間。広大な牧場、山からみた輝く海、本当にすばらしい時間を過ごすことができました。ほかの牧場ではこんなふうにはいかないかもしれません。曇ったり照ったり小雨が降ったり霧が出たりとめまぐるしく変わる天候も、自然と一体化したようで楽しめました。また乗せてもらいたいと思います。

I made a reservation for a course on July 20, 2013, at 8:30 AM. I participated with my husband, my daughter who is in high school, and my son who is in elementary school. I was quite anxious! Although I had been on a horse before, it was at a ranch in Japan where the ranch staff held the reins and we just rode around a designated area, so I was worried if we could ride here too.

The horse was quite tall, easily exceeding my height of 154 cm, and seemed to be about 175 cm. Once I finally got on, the view was different. At first, I was scared, but as I rode, I became completely okay with it. The horse was very calm and listened to us well. I was taught how to guide the horse with commands like stop, go, right, and left. Two young ladies accompanied us, one at the front and one at the back, with our family in the middle. They spoke English, but I was able to understand everything, so please don't worry.

The ranch on the Big Island of Hawaii is not flat like in Japan, so it was interesting with hills and valleys. It's better to speak to the horse in English for better understanding! ハワイ島の牧場は日本のように平ではないので山あり谷ありで面白かったですよ。

It took about an hour by car from the Hilton where we were staying (it might take longer if you're not familiar with the roads), costing around $100. Our family of three joined a group of four young foreigners, and we had two female guides. Excluding the safety instructions and equipment explanations, we had a full two hours of riding time. The guides spoke broken Japanese, but there were no issues. The horses were very gentle and seemed to remember the path on their own, so they moved forward just by riding them (though some cues were needed when they were slow). Those who wanted could canter, and my companion, despite being a beginner, managed to canter. It was said that there are some cold spots on the ranch, and the guides provided windbreakers for us. I used to be a cowboy in Canada, and it had been a while since I rode a horse.

We rode on an incredibly large ranch of 1,800 acres, galloping along with the horses. A man from Virginia who joined me was a beginner, but with the careful lessons, he was able to ride very well.

I was able to trot and canter, and I was really satisfied that I could also change the speed and direction to some extent.

I couldn't bring my two-year-old daughter this time, but I hope to take her someday. It seems like it's okay from the age of eight!

It was my first time in Hawaii. I wanted to see the sunset in Hawaii from a boat, so I decided to sign up for an English activity.

We were the only Japanese couple there. However, the other participants and the staff were all very kind, and we had a wonderful time. We even saw wild whales!

The food had a lot of meat. I wish there had been a bit more vegetables. The cocktails and dessert cake were very delicious.

Nate and the rest of the crew did a very nice job with the cruise. They were cordial, knowledgeable, and very helpful (thanks to Nate for keeping my mai-tais full and even finding a non-alcoholic drink for my pregnant wife :-)). Although we didn't see any whales the cruise was still very fun and the cocktails were fantastic!

"Hawaii Activities" could have done a much better job at communicating with us and Ocean Sports about where to meet. We were told to meet in the lobby of the Marriott for a shuttle... The shuttle never came and we had to do all the leg work to find out that we could have simply went out to the Ocean Sports hut right out on the beach in front of the Marriott. Concentrate on the details instead of the money please.

Great time in Kona

I chose to do this adventure for my birthday while we were in Kona. Melissa, our guide, was wonderful. She did a great job of sharing all of the history of the ranch and also the local sites. The horses were matched to us perfectly. I'm an experienced rider so really enjoyed having a horse that was spunky! We were able to trot and canter and Melissa was very attentive. If we go back to Hawaii we will definitely do this again!!!

I was torn between choosing the 2.5-hour plan or the private 2.5-hour plan, but in the end, I signed up for the 2.5-hour plan. However, when we arrived on the day, it turned out that we were the only family there, so it was actually just like a private plan, which felt like a great deal.

Liz, who explained everything to us, was very kind, and even as complete beginners, we were able to ride the horses properly. My 9-year-old son was saying it was difficult, but he managed to ride as well.

The wide grasslands, the blue sea, and the cute horses made for the best 2.5 hours! I want to go back next time to meet those adorable horses again.

The view was wonderful, and the horses were very cute. The staff was also very accommodating; they lent me a jacket because it got cold during the ride.

We had a great time on the waterfall tour!! Chris G. was an amazing guide. The waterfalls were not as impressive as I imagined, just OK. The wealth of information that was shared by Chris was great! He knew about the culture and plants like he was born there! We had also learned that he was a guide on the Zipline we were going to do in a couple of days. We didn't have him as a guide on the zipline but we did get to see him again. We want to come back soon and go on the kyak ditch tour! Thanks Chris for a wonderfull day!!!

THE BEST PART OF OUR VISIT!

This was by far our favorite part of visiting Hawaii for the first time. It was a total rush but we also felt completely safe with our extremely competent guides, Mattie and Jeramiah. Highly recommended. We have a slight fear of heights but the guides made us feel completely comfortable and we had so much fun!
If you're going to zip line in Hawaii, definitely use this company! Thanks again for an amazing experience, Kohala Zipline!
