I participated on September 6th. It was an afternoon course.
I've been visiting the Big Island for five years, and until now, I've only spent my time with volcanoes, golf, or driving...
But I had no idea there were such wonderful sea activities!
The water is incredibly clear, and you can see the corals and fish very vividly. I want to go again!
Kealakekua Bay, which has been a sacred place since ancient times, still has limited access for boats entering the bay. All the staff from the tour company were foreigners, so Japanese wasn't spoken, but it wasn't a problem at all.
You can also spend time at a nearby shopping center before and after the tour, which is convenient.
For afternoon tours, they mentioned that light snacks would be provided, but it was just a small amount of snacks and cut fruits, so I recommend eating something beforehand.
We bought ahi rolls (sushi) and soup at the KTA supermarket in the nearby Keauhou Shopping Center and ate them on a bench before going. You can also enjoy a stunning sunset from that shopping center on the way back.

For seating, you will be guided in the order you arrive, so after exchanging your tickets at the desk, it's best to line up in front of the outdoor luau venue where the sign is displayed. The line quickly got long while we were waiting. (There are two types of lines: regular seating and Hānai seating.)
The dances include Hawaiian, Tahitian, Māori, and Samoan, among others. Unfortunately, after being guided to our seats, there was no information provided about activities. I thought there might be an announcement after guiding us to the more expensive Hānai seating, but there wasn't, and by the time I went to check, it was already nearing the end, so I couldn't participate in the hula lesson or the palm leaf craft (meanwhile, something was happening on stage).
However, the show under the starry sky was very enjoyable, and the food was quite delicious.

I participated in the Fair Wind morning cruise. Above all, it was wonderful that they provided a "box snorkel" for someone like me who struggles with breathing through snorkel gear! It's the kind of equipment used for catching sea snails, with a box that has glass, allowing for excellent visibility of the crystal-clear underwater world. However, it seems that the number is limited, so I recommend expressing that you can't swim to get one! They also lent me a banana-shaped float to wear around my waist and a black inner tube, so there's absolutely no need to worry for those who are anxious about swimming. People of all ages, from small children to the elderly, were enjoying snorkeling.
In a calm bay with almost no waves, I was able to observe a wide variety of fish, and during lunchtime, we even encountered a pod of dolphins swimming offshore from the deck of the boat! Lucky people must have been able to swim quite close to them. They also film everything from boarding to underwater, so couples on their honeymoon might want to actively get filmed and purchase the DVD as a nice keepsake. I appreciated that the crew did not pressure for tips when disembarking. The clarity and calmness of the water are significantly better than at Hanauma Bay.

I don't know how to swim, and no way would I try snorkeling without even knowing how to float, so this was right up my alley. The staff was engaging and funny and knew a lot about the fish that we saw. We floated over several clusters of coral and although I didn't see anything as cool as a dolphin or manta ray, I did see a variety of exotic fish I had never known outside of an aquarium. Sadly, it's a quick 1 hour because you're so focused on looking at the windows that you lose track of time.
I don't recommend taking tons of pictures like someone here suggested, only because the fish move so fast that you'd probably get bad shots anyway and secondly, you really want to enjoy this uninterrupted without a contraption mounted to your face. Maybe take a snapshot of the first reef so you can tell people "I experienced this," then put the camera away for good.

Following my visit to Mauna Kea in February, I signed up for this tour and it was a great decision. It seems that this location is not accessible to the general public, and when I asked locals, they mentioned they had participated several times with their families. There appear to be many repeat visitors. Although there is no Japanese support, it didn't pose any problems for us.
As for the meeting point, while the main map clearly indicates the location, it can be quite confusing, so I recommend allowing extra time to get there. We did a preliminary visit the day before.
The weather was good, and even so, snorkeling in the ocean felt like entering another world. Especially in the shallow areas, various tropical fish swam close enough to touch, which was truly moving. We also enjoyed diving from the slide, feeling like kids again.
However, in the shallow areas, be careful not to damage the coral and watch out for sea urchins. I accidentally touched a sea urchin and got a spine stuck in my finger, which was quite painful. It was difficult to remove. I was advised to wrap it with paper soaked in vinegar, which did help, but I felt it would be better to have preparations for removing spines on hand.
It's rare to find a tour that makes you want to participate again and again. I highly recommend it.

For our family's last dinner on the trip, we enjoyed a luau show. Compared to the evening show at the Polynesian Cultural Center that we had seen before, this show was smaller and more compact, but we enjoyed the powerful dances right in front of us. The food was also surprisingly delicious, and we were very satisfied. There were several newlywed couples from the UK and the US who were enjoying the dance as introduced by the host. The Western audience was really responsive to the host's calls, and it made me feel that I want to improve my English communication skills.
This time, we drove from our hotel in South Kohala to Kailua-Kona, parked at a shopping center, and after strolling around downtown Kona, we watched the luau show. I was relieved that we didn't get lost and were able to participate.

We participated as a family of four. The location was a private beach at the hotel, and there were about 200 participants. Most of them were tourists from Western countries, and there were few Japanese attendees. The seating was on a first-come, first-served basis, and since we arrived just before the opening, only the seats at the back were available. Naturally, the seats closer to the front offered a more intense dance experience. Since we had small children with us, it turned out to be nice to have a spacious area at the back to relax.
Before the dance, there is a dinner (buffet style). The variety is abundant, with many Polynesian dishes, and I think it might be challenging for some Japanese men to try all the different types. There are also seafood dishes, allowing you to enjoy Hawaii's food culture. A significant difference from Japan is that Westerners tend to take a large amount at once and are less likely to go back for seconds, so for Japanese people who usually take smaller portions, there might be dishes they intended to eat later that are already gone. By the way, there is no replenishment of the food. The drinks are free-flowing, but the bar counter closes once the show starts, so please drink as much as you like before the food.
The dance show features not only Hawaiian hula but also various forms of dance from the Polynesian region, accompanied by music. There are no explanations in Japanese, but this actually enhances the atmosphere of being enveloped in a different culture, making it enjoyable. You will have a wonderful evening on the island of Hawaii, where the fire goddess Pele resides.

My husband and I participated together. Since it was a tour without a Japanese guide, we were the only Japanese participants, but we received a Japanese guide (notices, etc.) during check-in, so as long as you have some experience with snorkeling and can communicate in English to some extent, you can enjoy it without any problems!
It was an afternoon tour, and we were blessed with good weather. The boat trip to the Captain Cook monument was very pleasant (my husband did feel a bit seasick, though...). We saw a lot of fish, and we were very satisfied to see a large turtle at the start of the trip.
Also, it was appealing that it was a tour without transportation since we had rented a car. However, I think it would be tough without a rental car. The parking was vaguely marked as Keauhou Bay, so I was a bit unsure about where it was, but when we actually went, a kind local man helped us out, so it wasn't a problem!
This is one of the tours I would like to join again if I have the time.

The combination of bright blue water with yellow, orange, red, and blue colors was absolutely beautiful. And then, there was a massive migration of gray fish! It felt like a dream. On the way back on the boat, as the speed picked up, a pod of dolphins swam playfully right alongside us, almost like companions. I participated in an afternoon snack cruise on June 28. At first, I was worried about my companion getting seasick, but that concern was completely unnecessary. I had been on several other cruises before, but this one felt like it had the least amount of rocking. The ocean was beautiful as well. It was my first time seeing a coral reef up close like that. If you're going to Hawaii, that ocean is a must-see.
Before snorkeling, the captain gave a fairly long explanation and safety briefing, but it felt responsible and trustworthy. Even so, we had a full two hours to snorkel. The staff was very well-mannered and kind, which made for a very pleasant experience.
On the way back, I dozed off while enjoying the view of the Big Island from the boat, feeling the pleasant fatigue from snorkeling and the sea breeze. I didn't get to see any dolphins, but next time, I plan to wake up early and join a morning cruise, which has a higher chance of encountering dolphins.

I participated in the afternoon cruise. I wasn't sure where the meeting place, Fair Wind's office, was, so I showed my reservation to the staff in the lobby of the condo where I stayed (Kona by the Sea) and they helped me with directions on a simple map. I can't speak English, but they wrote down how to get there, so I was able to find it without getting lost. It's better to leave a bit earlier, though.
Before departure, I went to the restroom and noticed several awards for Hawaii tours hanging carelessly along the hallway. Gold award? Silver award? They've been receiving them every year, and for the past three years, they've mostly been gold awards. They seem to be quite established. But you won't know until you experience it.
I had previously participated in a tour on a small boat on the Big Island and had a bad experience due to the rough waves, so I was a bit worried. Once on board, all the staff's names were displayed, and the captain was Mr. Hiromoto. I wondered if he was of Japanese descent, which made me feel a bit more at ease. After departure, I felt even more reassured. There was hardly any rocking—rather, it was a pleasant sway. The beauty of the ocean was absolutely perfect. On the way back, it's a good idea to bring something to keep warm, as your body might get cold.

On June 28, the day we participated, it was cloudy in the morning, but as the boat set off, the skies gradually cleared. We spent four days on the Big Island, and it didn't rain at all.
Once we arrived at Captain Cook, we enjoyed snorkeling for a full two hours. The water clarity was excellent. There were plenty of fish, and the coral reefs were very beautiful. Above all, the staff was incredibly kind (they must have good employee training), and when I, lacking confidence in swimming, hesitated, they offered me a box with a glass bottom to use. With this, I could see underwater very well without having to put my face in the water. They also provided life jackets and floaties. I definitely want to participate again when I come back to the Big Island.

Occasionally, the sun peeked through, and the breeze on the boat was wonderful! It's a feeling you can only experience on a boat. After about 30 minutes, we arrived at the snorkeling point in front of the Captain Cook monument. Once we got into the water, I was amazed by the clarity. It was my first time seeing so many corals. I participated in the afternoon tour with my two elementary school children.
It was a mistake not to download the map beforehand, as I wasn't sure where the parking lot was. When we checked in at the office, they provided us with a document in Japanese that included important information that would be explained on the boat, so I felt reassured even though my English isn't great. At that time, there were only four of us Japanese and a young couple, but there was a Japanese-Brazilian woman named Rei who spoke fluent Japanese, which was comforting!
We brought our own prescription masks, but they were also available on the boat (Rx masks). They had prescriptions up to 4.0, which seemed to be fine for those with a vision of about 0.1. However, since they were quietly asking around after the fins were handed out, I think it would be better to say "I want an Rx mask!" when borrowing masks at the beginning. Kealakekua Bay is very beautiful, with colorful fish swimming nearby, and the kids enjoyed snorkeling until the last minute. Since the weather was a bit cloudy, it got quite cold on the way back, so it might have been better to have something to wear in addition to a towel.

Fair Winds Staff were very friendly and professional. Service felt very personalized even with such a large amount of people. Boat was very comfortable and we had a very pleasant journey to the Captain Cook Monument (our snorkel spot). Kids loved the water slide and high dive off the boat as much as the snorkeling experience.

We had a great time! The staff was very helpful, especially to my husband who was snorkeling for the first time. We would difinately do it again.

Everyone we talked to on the Big Island said that this was the best snorkeling experience in Hawaii. After taking an afternoon sail, I can see why. The simple answer is that it has an extremely awesome crew. They are both knowledgeable and very friendly. The snorkeling gear fitted well (and we were one of the last groups to receive ours so they clearly had enough to go around) and the snorkeling was great. My children enjoyed both the diving platform and the slide (and i did as well.) Mahalo.

We had a wonderful time last Thursday aboard the Fair Wind. The weather could have been better on our afternoon cruise; however, that is obviously beyond the control of the crew. The snorkeling was great and it was a unique way to see the coast (and to visit the Captain Cook monument without having to make the drive.) Best of all, the crew was fanstastic--organized, efficient and very friendly. It was probably our only Hawaii activity where tips were truly vountarly. Thanks for a great time.

A group of eight of us, my wife and I, our 9 year old daughters, my sister and her husband, and my brother and his wife, went kayaking for the first time with Ocean Safari Kayaks, and we all agreed that is was one of the best activities of our whole trip. The staff, Mikey and Debbie, was very friendly, informative, and supportive and the locations we visited were awesome. Although not as leisurely as going on a snorkeling trip with a power boat or raft company, I'd say this trip gives you more of a sense of adventure. We were able to check out the Dragon's Throat Sea Cave, which was a bit intimidating, but with their guidance, were able to successfully enter. Then, came the snorkeling which was awesome, and most importantly the cliff dive. That is one experience I may never stop talking about. My brother, brother in law, and I all took the plunge, not to mention being upstaged by Mikey doing a spectacular backflip off the cliff. Anyway, I could go on and on about this, but its d
