The luau show was great because I could see various traditional dances☆
Although the seating arrangement doesn't guarantee that you'll get to sit in the front even if you line up early, it seems there's an option to arrange for seats closer to the front for an additional $20.
Since the dances are only performed on stage, sitting closer definitely makes it easier to see. It would be amazing if they could come down from the stage and perform up close at least once...
The event's schedule consists of half luau and dance shows, and the other half is a talk show with the host and performers. I think those who can speak English will enjoy it fully, but since I couldn't understand most of what was being said, I felt like I only enjoyed about half of what I paid for.
The dance portion isn't very long, so I wouldn't particularly recommend it for those who want to see hula or dance shows in depth, but experiencing it in person is a good experience, so it might be nice for first-timers. By the way, the show is dark, so it's difficult to capture footage unless you're using video.

We experienced an afternoon tour as a family of four. While the equipment can sometimes be smelly or old, this tour was just fine. Even my 5-year-old daughter enjoyed it on a kickboard with a window. It was cloudy at first, but when the sunlight came through, it was very beautiful and moving. Before we left, the staff and captain performed a dive show from the boat, but right after that, my daughter asked, "Where's my captain? Where did the bartender go? How do we get back?" Other than her worries, the safety was excellent.

I had seen footage on TV of manta rays gathering around light to feed on plankton, but seeing them in person was a completely different experience!
We got incredibly close, almost within reach of them, and it was my first time entering the ocean at night and seeing manta rays up close. I believe this experience holds significant value! We observed while holding onto something like a raft on the water, and since I was at the farthest end from the boat, the manta rays came quite close to me. This is just my interpretation, but perhaps being at the edge allows the manta rays to have an escape route, making them less skittish (laughs).
Here are a few points for those participating:
1. Be sure to borrow a wetsuit. It was the middle of summer, but the ocean at night was still cold. They will provide masks and fins while on land, so make sure to ask for a wetsuit at that time. For those who are sensitive to cold in winter, it's advisable to bring a rash guard or wear two wetsuits for extra warmth.
2. Capture videos instead of still images. Still images don’t turn out as beautifully as in the posts. Flash is completely ineffective. Using a waterproof camera for video or preparing a waterproof case for your camera will allow for better footage. I couldn't post due to storage issues, but the videos turned out really well.
3. If you are prone to seasickness, prepare some medication. Generally, you just float, so even those who aren't confident swimmers can participate in this activity (though it can be a bit nerve-wracking since it's dark at night). Just floating can still make you feel queasy due to the waves, and even though the boat ride is only about five minutes, some people feel sick during the briefing on the water. It seems that standing in a spot where the wind hits you more is less likely to cause seasickness than sitting, but if you're worried, it’s best to take some medication beforehand.
4. All instructions are in English. They will explain not to walk around while wearing fins, to keep your legs horizontal while floating to attract manta rays, that flash photography bothers them, and where the restroom is located. There will be no Japanese spoken, so if you don’t speak English, pay close attention to the actions of those around you.
5. Bring as few belongings as possible and avoid taking valuables. Most belongings are left unattended on the boat, so try not to bring valuables with you.

Don't plan on going into this activity thinking you will be in your own kayak.
Oceans Kayaks, who provides the kayaks and tour guides, etc. DO NOT have sufficient amounts of single kayaks to appease their guests. We, as an adult family of four, were looking forward to going on this adventure in individual kayaks. My fiancee and I kayak often and my daughter also has taken to kayaking. We wanted singles and were never (especially when booking online) given the option of singles vs. doubles. When we arrived, we expressed our desire for singles and were brushed off by employees who did not want to think outside the box.
After much debate, we resigned ourselves to complete the activity and it was very enjoyable. We had great guides and we experienced quite a bit. We were hoping to snorkel a little longer, but we had a great time regardless.
We do recommend this activity, but only if you don't mind being forced to take doubles kayaks.

I didn't realize boats could go that fast. At first, it was a bit scary, but as I got used to it, the wind felt really nice.
A pod of whales came close, and I was able to take pictures of them at an incredibly close distance.
The guide was kind. I don't understand English at all, so I couldn't follow directly, but the speaking speed was a bit fast. However, they provide a Japanese translation sheet at the beginning, so there's no need to worry about that. I think it's good to read it well before starting.
Snorkeling was a bit cold, but it was great. The people who participated with me finished snorkeling early and spent the rest of the time chatting with the guides on the boat.
I recommend this tour. I enjoyed the extraordinary experience. Thank you very much. I would like to participate again!

I participated with my boyfriend during the summer vacation.
It was my first time riding such a fast boat. If you don't hold on properly, you might get blown away. It was very thrilling and fun!
First of all, I was moved to see dolphins and whales up close.
There were two guides, and they were very kind and considerate in helping the members bond with each other. However, they spoke quite quickly. I had no problem since I can speak English, but I recommend that those who don't speak at all keep the Japanese translation given at the beginning handy in their bags. You have to put your bag away during rafting.
Snorkeling was also enjoyable. I was able to see fish up close. The sandwiches, snacks, and juice for lunch were delicious.
It was a tour that made me appreciate the size of the Big Island again. I highly recommend it for groups of friends. I think it would be fun and lively.

Since the sun was strong, sunscreen is essential. I think having sunglasses would also be good. I brought a camera, but as long as you don't accidentally drop it in the sea, it won't get wet.
The boat moves at a great speed, so it's a struggle to hold on, but once you get used to it, you can take in the scenery around you. I was worried about getting seasick, but I think the speed helped me maintain my balance.
I didn't wear a swimsuit even though I knew we would be snorkeling, so I just observed, but everyone else seemed to swim well and find fish.

Also, thank you to everyone at Masashi Nature School, especially Leo, our guide on the day. I’ve become a big fan of your company!

We signed up on our first day in Hawaii, August 22. When we were picked up at the hotel at 3 PM, we were informed of a shocking fact.
"Actually, there’s a wildfire today, and the roads are closed. We might not be able to go to the summit."
What?! I was in shock when they added,
"We will refund everything if you cancel, but since we’re here, I thought we could look for a place to see the stars. The roads might open up soon..."
With that suggestion, everyone in the tour got into the car. Apparently, it’s only once or twice a year that such an accident prevents access to the summit. I can’t believe we hit that low probability...
However, everyone was disappointed that we couldn’t see the sunset and stars from the summit, but our guide Leo was incredibly attentive.
He guided us through beach visits, Waipi'o Valley, and the Honokaa Theater one after another.
Before long, the mood in the car brightened, and we started to enjoy the places he was showing us.
At the drive-in, we were treated to donuts, and in Waipi'o, we had warm miso soup with our bento. He kept in touch to check if the road closures would be lifted and took us as far as possible.
We got out of the car at about 1500 meters and looked at the stars and the moon through a telescope. With the nearly full moon and the starry sky, I felt determined to go to the summit next time! But I also thought, this was fun in its own way.
After nearly six hours of guiding us around, I suddenly realized.
They had said they would refund the fee...

The thrill and speed that you can't experience on a large ship are the biggest attractions of this activity. It was definitely the right choice for my high school freshman son! He was overjoyed by the boat's fast pace that felt like he might be thrown off.
A small girl about four years old also joined us on the boat, but she sat on the box in the middle, so there was no worry of falling into the sea due to the swaying, and she seemed to have a great time.
Below are some simple details and points that are useful to know in advance. Don't worry about the conversation being in English! Even just stringing words together will get your point across.
■ About reconfirmation
You need to reconfirm your reservation with Captain Zodiac by the day before. I’m not confident in my English, but I just said, "I have a reservation for tomorrow under the name ○○," and that was fine. They are used to it, so no worries!
■ About snorkeling
<When borrowing fins>
They will ask for your shoe size, so be ready to answer in American sizes. I wear 24 cm, but I requested "7" and borrowed fins sized "7-11." They fit perfectly.
<About prescription masks>
If you have poor eyesight, they will lend you a prescription mask. If it doesn't fit, you can get it exchanged.
<For those not confident in swimming>
They will lend you a floating vest.
<About the snorkeling point>
The sea in front of the Captain Cook Memorial is the snorkeling point. The visibility is good, and the water is clear. There aren't many types of fish, and the corals aren't particularly colorful. Yellow tangs are abundant in the shallow areas. First-timers will likely enjoy it. Since we are repeat visitors to the remote islands of Okinawa, we felt a bit unsatisfied with the underwater scenery, but our goal was to enjoy the atmosphere rather than the fish or corals, so we were satisfied.
When dolphins appear, they will take you by boat to see them. On land, you can see mongooses wandering around.
■ About the restroom
Once you go out to sea, there are no restrooms until you return to port. You need to handle this on your own.
■ For those who feel cold
When entering the sea, wear a long-sleeved rash guard. It can feel cool when the wind blows, so bringing a dry jacket is a good idea for reassurance.
■ The captain is a diving expert!!

I participated with my husband. There were about 15 participants in the tour, and we were the only Japanese guests. The guide was kind, but everything was in English, so I think I only understood about 20% since I can only speak basic English.
To give you a clearer image, we sat on the edge of a rubber boat with an engine, holding on only to a rope. The boat took us out to sea at quite a speed, swaying a lot, which was quite thrilling. I heard that some people have even fallen into the sea before.
Along the way, we encountered a pod of dolphins several times. We went to Kealakekua Bay and enjoyed snorkeling. The seawater was a bit cold, but it was very clear, and we saw a lot of fish, making for a very satisfying snorkeling experience. During a break from snorkeling, we had lunch on the board, including sandwiches. On the way back, we viewed the lava caves from the sea side. I had thought we would go inside the lava caves, so I was a bit disappointed.
Overall, I was satisfied, but you really need to hold on tightly to the boat's rope at all times, or you might get thrown off, so I wouldn't recommend it for small children or elderly people.
Also, sunscreen is absolutely necessary. In my case, I applied it well on my body and had makeup on my face, but I think I got burned while snorkeling. I didn't apply any on my head, but the part in my hair turned bright red and was quite painful. I recommend that anyone with a part in their hair apply sunscreen to their scalp as well.

When we left the hotel, the weather was cloudy with occasional light rain. However, as we climbed Mauna Kea, the clouds cleared, and it became a beautiful sunny day. It was very moving to see the sunset from the 4,000-meter summit. I was able to see the shadow of Mauna Kea reflected in the clouds, as well as the Subaru Telescope and many other observatories nearby.
For stargazing, we enjoyed a sky full of stars with explanations at a spot a little lower down. It was the first time I saw someone use a laser pointer to indicate constellations in the night sky. During the astronomical observation, we were able to see the rings of Saturn through a telescope. The guide's witty explanations of the constellations were enjoyable, and time flew by quickly.
Even though it's Hawaii, 4,000 meters feels like a different world; it's cold. As noted, warm clothing is essential. I took it slow to avoid altitude sickness, but near the summit, I experienced a lack of oxygen, which slowed my movements. If I have the opportunity, I would like to see the autumn sky next time.

I took my 85 year old mother who has some physical limitations, my 73 year old husband, and my self (62) on the midday (no meal) cruise and snorkeling adventure. It was heavenly! The staff gave a general, easy to understand lesson to all. When my mother got down the stairs she decided she did not want to go. The staff people told me to go ahead that they would take care of her. A few minutes later she was out viewing the reef with a tube and a box. My husband did the same. I was able to relax and enjoy without worries. Thank you so much for one of the most pleasurable things I have done!

Excellent. To start, we went out on the Sea Smoke, little did we know, this was owned by James Arness (Gun Smoke TV show) and he raced this from LA to Hawaii and beat the pack by 2-days… So we were sailing on a piece of history.
Crew was awesome and extremely hospitable. Equipment was very good; food and beverages were high quality and fresh.
We arrived at the dive spot and it was amazing, sea turtles to say the least. The black sand beach was amazing and really different than the typical white sugar sand that most beaches are made of.
I would recommend this to all skill levels and all ages.
On the way back they sent up the sails and turned the engine off, we enjoyed the speed and stability that 60’ catamarans are famous for.
If you have a chance, don't miss this opportunity to view the Big Island and its beautiful coastline from the ocean… Well worth the 4-hour snorkel adventure and very convenient to find as this is anchored at the Waikoloa Marriot.

I saw a manta ray for the first time! It's huge! I'm so moved.
I'm excited!
I recommend a video camera that can shoot underwater or a digital camera that can record videos.
I participated with a snorkel, but when divers are directly below, the bubbles from their air rise up and make it almost impossible to see. If you use a flash, it reflects off the tiny bubbles and you can't capture the manta... If you shoot video, you can get some amazing footage of the manta doing flips!!!
I read on Alan1.net that you can rent wetsuits, but I didn't see anyone actually borrowing them, and the staff didn't seem to be actively looking for people who wanted to rent them. Another Japanese couple ended up not renting one and looked a bit anxious. I think it's quite cold in the water for slim people. I was shivering from the cold after getting out (we participated at the end of June). A large bath towel and thick sweatshirt are essential. Also, although I don't think it will happen, there were about 30 people on the boat, and luggage was placed carelessly, so it's safer not to bring valuables as much as possible.
I definitely recommend this for anyone who loves aquariums!!

Incredible!
For sunset lovers like us, watching the sunset from Mauna Kea at 4200m was the best. The sun sinking into the clouds, the colors of the clouds, and jumping multiple times to take photos created so many memories.
Stargazing was also fun! The starry sky was truly breathtaking, unlike anything I've ever seen. Even for someone like me who struggles with constellations, the explanation with the laser pointer made it very easy to understand. We saw the Southern Cross, Scorpius, the Big Dipper, and the Summer Triangle, among others. Since Tanabata was approaching, it was great to also see the Milky Way, Orihime, and Hikoboshi.
I didn't feel the cold thanks to the lack of wind and the preparation of not just warm clothing but also pants.
I was impressed by the "eco" measures taken for the lunch.
Thank you for all the wonderful experiences!

I went last week!
It was a tour that I was completely satisfied with. On the day we participated, my group was the only one made up of Japanese people. Most of the other guests were from the mainland United States. There were mostly couples, families, and groups participating.
We received safety instructions for snorkeling, but we were given a paper written in Japanese, so I think even those who are worried about the language can participate with peace of mind. Also, the staff and the surrounding guests all had a friendly atmosphere, so even if you don't speak English well, you can communicate with simple words and have a good time.
I think it's okay for those who are not confident in swimming to participate. On this tour, there were people enjoying themselves while floating on inflatable rings.
I recommend this tour for the morning since the waves are calmer then. Even in the morning tour, the waves do get a bit higher in the latter half.
It was a very enjoyable tour, but I got seasick on the way back. It takes nearly 30 minutes from the snorkeling point to the port, so you might feel nauseous. I recommend bringing motion sickness medication. Even if you don't have any, if you tell the staff, they will make ginger ale to help alleviate the nausea.
For snorkeling, I was lent a prescription snorkeling set. It's recommended for those who wear glasses.
Everyone was able to return to their childhood, jumping into the sea and enjoying snorkeling, having a great time. Other guests were also frolicking like children. I definitely recommend participating as a group and having fun together.
The water was clear down to the bottom, which was impressive. There were many sea urchins at the bottom, and I was able to see cute fish as well. The seawater was warm, which was also nice.

Great transportation, very knowledgeable guides/drivers, wonderful "star gazing," well prepared food (too much for one person to eat at one meal!) with stainless steel table service, warm parkas and gloves provided. Recommend wearing jeans, sneakers and socks, and perhaps a light jacket to wear under the parka. Understand that it will be cold at these altitudes and be wary of altitude sickness if you are normally near sea level. Be well rested when you go and altitude shouldn't be a problem since a couple of rests (and restroom stops) as you ascend are provided. On the ride back after excellent stargazing and a hot drink and cookie, really nice and varied selections of music were played! I've never seen such wonderful sky views! Hope to come again and bring grandchildren!

I participated after being recommended by a friend. I was a bit hesitant because the price was high, but it was definitely the right decision!
I was moved by the scenery I had never seen before. The sun, radiating overwhelming light above the red-tinted clouds, was incredibly mystical. Also, the stargazing afterward was fortunate, as it seemed to be a clear night for viewing stars. I was able to see shooting stars, the Milky Way, and numerous constellations, making it feel just like a planetarium.
As for the climate, I had prepared hand warmers and a scarf thinking it would be colder, but it wasn't as chilly as I expected.
If I were to mention a downside, it might be unavoidable, but it seemed that the pickup was last, so my friend and I ended up sitting apart, and I had to sit alone for a long time during the journey. Since the scenery was so beautiful, I wish I could have enjoyed it with my friend while chatting...

We had a wonderful time on our Keauhou Sea Cave Kayak Adventure. Our main guide, Kevin, was wonderful. He was very concerned about our safety and enjoyment of the outing. We were able to kayak into a large sea cave before paddling over to our snorkeling destination. Many were adventurous and jumped off the 25 foot high cliff into the water, including my husband! One of our daughters and I snorkeled away from the main group a bit and I saw a few hundred yellow tang - more than I've ever seen before! There were many other kinds of fish there as well as Hawaii's state fish. Our oldest daughter had her snorkeling cut short when she got stung by a small jelly fish on the foot, as did one or two others in our tour, but that's a risk when in the ocean. Kevin and another Ocean Safari staff member who was there with his own tour both checked on our daughter after getting her back in the kayak. We had some snacks on the rocks near the tide pools before heading back to the kayaks for the

Among the many sunset and stargazing tours available, I chose this one after reading reviews.
The weather and conditions were great, and the beauty of the sunset exceeded my expectations. The starry sky was so stunning that even after returning to the hotel late at night, I was too excited to fall asleep.
At first, I had trouble following the guide's explanations with the laser pointer and missed a few constellations, but overall, I was very satisfied. I had the chance to experience starlight and see Saturn's rings through a telescope, which was something I couldn't normally do, and I was extremely pleased. Personally, I think it would have been better to familiarize myself with the constellations for this time of year in advance. I was a bit worried about altitude sickness, but since we ascended gradually, it wasn't a problem at all. During the stargazing, they served us tea, which I think helped with hydration.
This may not be directly related to the tour, but during dinner, they served miso soup in bowls, and the bento boxes were not disposable but reusable, which showed the guide's effort and consideration for the environment.
If I have the opportunity again, I would love to join this tour once more.
