If you're visiting the Kona side of the Big Island, this dinner cruise is a MUST! It has it all: beautiful coastal views as you sail down to the Captain Cook monument, knowledgable guide who provides interesting historical information about the island (my husband and I love to learn new things), friendly/service-oriented staff, great dinner buffet, and a free premium drink! It was so relaxing and not too short of a cruise (but also not too long). We had a great time! Definitely would do it again.

The Good:
The snorkeling was amazing, right by the capt. cook monument, lots of fish and coral to be seen. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating to the needs of the clients (snorkeling alternatives for the scared/claustrophobic, flotation devices, vast selection of equipment). The food was better than expected (continental breakfast followed by a hot dog or a well done BBQ cheeseburger, very thin but acceptable.) Booze was reasonably priced.

The Bad:
The boat was at MAXIMUM capacity. SNUBA is an extra $70 (surprise!) There is a dude videotaping the whole thing and semi-forcably interviewing EVERYONE (even the very socially uncomfortable, myself) who seemed very used-car-salesmanly. He sold his DVD for $70, even though it seemed like mostly stock footage.

The Verdict:
Would not do again. Should be 50% cheaper or 50% less crowded. If you really just want to see some fish buy yourself a snorkel and mask and get yourself to the capt. cook monument via hike or kayak

About a month ago, on September 19, I participated in the tour. I actually misunderstood the reservation date, and although the actual reservation was for September 18, I was kindly assisted over the phone and was able to change it to the following day when there happened to be an opening. Despite the inconvenience I caused, I was very happy to participate in the tour the next day.

As for the dolphins, they were even more amazing than I had imagined! I dove a total of 7 to 8 times, and I only missed seeing the dolphins once! I was even able to see the rare spinner dolphin, which is typically only spotted about once a month, and I was truly moved. Those who have participated in similar tours on Oahu praised the Big Island, saying it is incomparable.

The guide led us close enough to touch the dolphins if we had the chance, allowing us to feel their presence more than I had expected.

Regarding the equipment and supplies, they provided prescription snorkeling goggles and wetsuits, and for those who are not confident swimmers, they offered flotation devices, so I believe even those who are anxious about entering the water can participate in the tour with peace of mind. Of course, the captain and guide provided very thorough explanations in advance, so I had no feelings of anxiety at all.

There were various aspects, but I truly had the best time participating in this tour. Thank you so much for making my dream come true!!!

過去にオアフ島で同じようなツアーに参加された方も、ハワイ島はオアフ島とは
比べ物にならないと絶賛されていました。

ガイドの方がチャンスがあれば、一人ずつイルカが触れるくらいの距離まで
手を引いて誘導してくださるので、想像以上にイルカの迫力を感じることが
出来ました。

機材・備品などに関しても、シュノーケリングゴーグルの度付きのものや
ウエットスーツを貸し出してくださり、泳ぎの苦手な方には浮き輪のようなものを使用させていただけるので、海に入ることに対して不安を抱いている方も
安心してツアーに参加ができると思いました。
もちろん、キャプテンとガイドの方から事前にとても丁寧な説明があるので
全く不安感はありませんでした。

色々とございましたが、今回このツアーに参加出来て本当に最高でした。
夢をかなえていただき、本当に有難うございました！！！

This time, I came to the Big Island for a solo trip due to a friend's work schedule. I forgot my driver's license and thought I would have to rely on tours for enjoyment, so I looked for a tour after arriving on the Big Island. I've seen dolphins before, but the idea of swimming close to them was appealing, so I signed up.

I was a bit anxious because I don't have much confidence in swimming, but our guide, Daisuke, took care of me and others who were not great swimmers, allowing us to see the dolphins up close. Daisuke really loves dolphins, and it was clear he wanted to share that passion with the tour participants.

Additionally, since the tour used a rubber boat, everyone could quickly get into the water, which meant we had fewer missed opportunities when dolphins swam by, and we were able to see them multiple times. I was impressed by how well the captain and Daisuke communicated, which made it all possible.

When I come back to the Big Island, I think I'll invite my friends along.

Last year, I participated in a horseback riding tour that went up Waipi'o Valley, so this year I joined a tour that explored the valley below, and the lower course was definitely more fun!
In particular, crossing a river that was about waist-deep on the horse, with my feet lifted up in the stirrups, was truly thrilling and enjoyable.
I have a British-style riding license, but I found Western riding to be very enjoyable as well.
The staff brought a lot of organic fruits like avocados and starfruit to share with us.
The horses were well-trained, so I felt safe while riding.
They were all very well-behaved horses.

My daughter and I really enjoyed horseback riding through Waipio Valley. Just be warned that if it is the dry sesson, you won't see any waterfalls. We did see lots of water though in addition to taro fields, wild horses and plenty of beautiful scenery. Our guides, Dava and Robert were entertaining, yet professional. I highly recommend this tour, as many people try to hike down into the valley and don't get far. Then they have to walk back up that very steep road! One warning. Do wear long pants or some sort of insect repellant. We were told there were no mosquitos but my daughter and I both returned with lots of bites.

Last year, three adults participated in the morning tour. It was so good that we decided to join again. This year, since my grandchild is with us, we participated in the afternoon tour with a shorter snorkeling time. It seems the weather is better in the morning, but we still had a great time even with a little cloud cover. My grandchild enjoyed looking underwater with the mat that has a glass viewing window and was able to see many fish! Kealakekua Bay is truly beautiful! Next time, I want to join the morning tour again where we can enjoy snorkeling twice.

We saw manta rays shortly after heading out to sea. It was quite an interesting experience. The light snacks were also quite delicious. I tend to forget the custom of tipping (about $10 for each of the three people), so I recommend bringing extra money.

I participated because I really wanted to see dolphins in Hawaii for the first time. I even got to see a baby dolphin, and snorkeling was comfortable. The ocean was so beautiful and enjoyable that I lost track of time. However, I wonder if it was because I couldn't sleep the night before? I got really seasick (￣O￣;).

If there's a next time, I want to participate after getting a good night's sleep (￣^￣)ゞ.

It's hard to see the starry sky in urban areas of Japan, but I was glad to be able to see it while being shown various constellations and the Milky Way. I was worried about getting altitude sickness at a higher elevation than Mount Fuji, but I was completely fine. The sunset over the sea of clouds was also beautiful. On the way down the mountain, I was able to see a white rainbow as well.

It was a day close to the new moon, but thin clouds covered the sky. Still, I was able to see the Milky Way. The guides, Mr. Yamamoto and Mr. Matsuzaki, were lively in their storytelling, which allowed us to relax and enjoy the experience throughout. The thin air made it a bit tough, but I managed as long as I stayed still. The sunset was truly fiery, and I thought to myself, is this what heaven is like?

The thermal suit was great. I'm sensitive to the cold, so I wore a sweater and bought a hot pack at the Onizuka Center. Thanks to this thermal suit, I was able to observe the starry sky at a higher altitude than other tours, but on this day, the view was clearer when we descended to the Onizuka Center due to the clouds. Still, since all tours watch the sunset from the summit, I think wearing the suit was the right choice.

せっかく新月に近い日でしたが、薄い雲がかかってしまいました。それでも天の川は見えました。ガイドの山本さんと松崎さんのお話も軽快で、終始リラックスして楽しむことができました。酸素が薄くて少し辛かったですが、じっとしていればなんとかしのげました。夕焼けはまさに燃える様で、天国ってこんなところかしらと思いました。

I really saw dolphins passing right by! They were mating in front of us. There were also a mother and her baby. Of course, we could see them clearly and hear their sounds. I was very satisfied. On the way back, I was lucky enough to encounter a manta ray as well. However, I was really envious of our guide Daisuke, who was diving and playing with the dolphins, so I promised myself that I would learn to dive and come back again.

This is a great day for an experienced snorkler and, at the same time, individuals less confident in the water. An abundence of sea life, including a manta, a great beach and beautiful vista were all part of the experience. Followed by a smooth but good sail home, it was enough but not too much for a first morning after a late arrival. Food good, crew great and helpful, equipment good and boat comfortable - great for the activity type and well maintained. All in all, a very good experience.

Swimming with dolphins has been a dream of mine for a long time. I finally participated in the long-awaited tour. I arrived at the location by rental car without getting lost. After receiving a thorough briefing from the captain and guide, we set sail!

There were only four participants that day. Usually, there are about ten people, so I felt lucky to have a smaller group! This meant we could enter the water more times than usual. There were even some strong adventurers who joined us from Oahu for a day trip.

We spotted a pod of dolphins! Time to enter the water. The sea had exceptional clarity! According to the guide, such clarity is rare. I felt fortunate today, sensing something special was about to happen. We positioned ourselves ahead of the dolphins' path and waited. The dolphins approached leisurely from a distance, and the pod passed right in front of me! I had been waiting for this moment! I could hear the dolphins' sounds, and it felt like we were connecting.

That day, I was even luckier to encounter a group of 300 to 400 dolphins! The guide mentioned that this is also quite rare. To top it off, we encountered a manta ray! I even got to see the collaboration between the manta ray and the dolphins! I was once again moved by the grandeur of Hawaii's nature. I was fortunate enough to have the best experience that day. イルカと泳ぐことがずっと前からの夢。ようやく念願のツアーに参加。
現地にレンタカーで参加したが特に迷うことなく到着。
キャプテン、ガイドの方から丁寧なレクチャーを受けていざ出航！
その日の参加メンバは全体で4名。いつもなら10名ほどいらっしゃるようですが、
人数が少なくてラッキー！通常よりエントリーする本数が多くできるとのこと。
オアフから日帰りで参加している強者の方も。。

イルカの群れを発見！いざエントリー。
海は抜群の透明度！ガイドさん曰くこれほどの透明度はめったにないとのこと。
今日は運に恵まれて何かよさそうな予感。
イルカの通り道を先回りして待機・・。イルカが遠くからゆったりと近づいてきて
イルカの群れが自分のすぐ目の前を通過！この瞬間を待ってました！
イルカの声も聞け、まるでイルカと通じ合った気分になりました。

その日はさらに幸運なことに300〜400の群れに遭遇！これまためったにないとのこと。
さらにさらにマンタのレフティと遭遇！マンタとイルカのコラボレーションも見れちゃいました！
ハワイの自然の雄大さに改めて感動を受けました。
当日は幸運にも恵まれ最高の体験になりました。

また機会があれば今度はシュノーケルでもうちょと潜れるようになってイルカと一緒に泳いでみたいと思います。あと防水カメラ必須ですね。

This was my first time participating. I thought that because a front was coming in, there would be clouds both above and below, so while the sunset would be nice, I didn't expect much from the stars. However, I was quite surprised to see them clearly. Mauna Kea really does have great weather. Conversely, in Japan (I live in Osaka), the air might be so polluted that it's always cloudy.

Our guide, Matsuzaki, mentioned he was in his third year, but I was impressed by how much he had studied. He continuously provided various explanations during the drive and even lay down on the ground to take photos, showing his dedication.

【A few notes】
- You can borrow a set of thermal clothing, including a jacket. I brought a thick thermal outfit, so I ended up feeling quite bulky. Thin, warm items like Heattech underwear are preferable.
- The women's restroom at the Onizuka Center gets crowded due to bookings with other tours. You can get your bento and miso soup here, so it's best to change as early as possible.
- Since we had an early dinner, I was a bit hungry as a big eater and bought a late-night snack at a shop we stopped by on the way back. My companions are also big eaters, but perhaps due to a bit of oxygen shortage, they didn't seem to want to eat much.
- Dinner consisted of a simple bento and miso soup. Other tours had Hawaiian sushi and lasagna, as shown in the photos for reference.
- The way they took commemorative photos was quite creative, as expected. My photo lacked a bit of flash power but had a nice silhouette. It's great that we can also download the guide's photos.

I've experienced sunsets from the summits of various mountains in Japan many times, but in Hawaii, the air clarity is unmatched. Additionally, the thrill of driving up to such an elevation all at once is unique to the Big Island. You reach the top so quickly that you don't really feel the height, but it's a height that would have been a life-threatening challenge in the past. One should truly appreciate this altitude. (What was I doing back then, climbing with heavy loads in the mountain club?)

I believe the tour is worth the price alone. You can't reach the summit by rental car, and the knowledge you gain is on a different level of impact. I highly recommend a Japanese guide for those who are not confident in their English.

はじめての参加。前線が来ていたため、上空にも下層にも雲があって、夕陽にはいいが星には期待できないだろうと思っていたのに、けっこう見えて驚きました。マウナケアって、ホント天気がいい所なんですね。逆にいうと、日本（私は大阪在住）はいつでも雲の中というくらい空気が汚いのかもしれません。ガイドの松崎さんは３年目との事でしたが、色々勉強されていて感心しました。車中でも途切れずいろんな説明をされたり、地面にねころんで写真をとって下さったりして、一生懸命なのが伝わってきました。

【ちょっと一言】
・つなぎと上着セットの防寒着を貸してもらえます。
　　私は分厚い防寒着を持参したので、モコモコになっちゃいました。
　　ヒートテックの下着など、薄くて暖かいものがいいです。
・オニヅカセンターの女性用トイレは、他ツアーとブッキングするので、
　　行列になります。ここでお弁当と味噌汁をもらうのですが、
　　できるだけ早い目に着替えたほうがいいです。
・早い夕食で、大食いの私はちょっとおなかがすいて、
　　帰りに立ち寄ったお店で夜食を買いました。
　　同行者も大食いですが、ちょい酸素不足になったためか、
　　すかなかったようです。
・夕食は簡単幕の内と味噌汁。他ツアーはハワイ寿司やラザニアなどでした。
　　写真、ご参考に。
・記念写真の撮り方は、色々工夫されていて、さすがでした。
　　私の写真はフラッシュの力がちょっと不足でしたが、いいシルエット。
　　ガイドさんさんの写真もダウンロードできるので、ありがたいです。

日本の山は色々登って山頂からのサンセットは何度も体験しましたが、ハワイは空気のぼやけがない。また、これだけの海抜を車で一気に登る豪快さはハワイ島ならではです。あっというまに頂上に行ってしまうので、高さの実感がわかないのですが、昔なら命がけで挑戦した高さ。心してこの高度を味わうべきです。（山岳部で重い荷物を背負ってヒーヒー言いながら登っていたのは何だったんだ・・）

ツアーは料金だけの値打ちはあると思います。レンタカーで行っても頂上まではのぼれないし、いろんな知識を与えてもらえるので、感動のボリウムが違います。英語に自信のない方はぜひ日本語ガイドを、とオススメします。

None of us could actually swim! We thought we could manage since we had wetsuits. It had been two years since I last went to the ocean, and when I finally got in, I panicked and started to drown. However, Mr. Nawata quickly noticed I was in trouble, and Daisuke, the swimming specialist, came to my rescue (>_<). I really didn't know what to do, but Daisuke stayed by my side and gradually helped me calm down. By the time I returned to the boat, I thought I wouldn't go back into the ocean again. But then I realized that it would be a shame to leave without seeing the dolphins, thanks to the encouragement from Mr. Nawata and Daisuke. Honestly, I was really scared of the ocean. However, Daisuke stayed close to me and worked hard to take me near the dolphins!! Thanks to Daisuke, I was able to see the dolphins up close!! They came so close that I could almost reach out and touch them (>∀<). I truly felt it was a miracle to see the dolphins so near!! My heart was filled with emotion!! Furthermore, I could hear their sounds when they were close by!! It really healed my heart!! The dolphins lifted my spirits! I had a few opportunities to snorkel, and by the end, I was able to swim in the ocean by myself! I was surprised at myself!! The joy of meeting the dolphins far outweighed my fear of the ocean!!
I think participating in this dolphin option was the best experience! I believe it was because of Mr. Nawata and Daisuke that they noticed and helped me immediately when I was drowning, and they taught me the joy of swimming with dolphins!! ｳｪｯﾄｽｰﾂがあるからなんとかなるかと軽い気持ちで参加しました。2年ぶりという久しぶりの海でいざ海に入ったら、パニックになり溺れてしまいました。ですが、縄田さんが溺れているのをすぐに発見してくれて、泳ぎのｽﾍﾟｼｬﾘｽﾄのﾀﾞｲｽｹさんが助けてくれました(>_<)本当にどうしたらいいかわかんなくなっていましたが、ﾀﾞｲｽｹさんが常に一緒にいてくれて徐々に落ち着くことができました。落ち着いてから船に戻った時には、実はもう海に入らないと思いました。ですが、縄田さんとﾀﾞｲｽｹさんが励ましてくれたことと、イルカを見えないで帰るなんてあっちゃいけないことだと思いました。本当はすごい海が怖かったです。でも、ずっとﾀﾞｲｽｹさんがそばにいてくれてイルカの近くまで一生懸命連れていってくれました！！ﾀﾞｲｽｹさんのおかげで、間近でイルカを見ることができました！！本当に手の届く距離まで、イルカが近くにきてくれました(>∀<)イルカが近くに見えるなんて本当に奇跡なことだと思いしました！！感動で胸がいっぱいになりました！！更に、イルカが近くにいると鳴き声が聞こえました！！本当に本当に心が癒されました！！イルカに心を元気にしてもらいました！何度かｼｭﾉｰｹﾙをする機会があるのですが、後半には一人で海に入って泳げるようになっていました！自分でもビックリしました！！イルカに会えることの嬉しさが、海の怖さよりも遥かに上回っていました！！

We participated as a mature couple. Despite putting in the effort to scout the day before, we made the mistake of forgetting to reconfirm, which made us a bit anxious on the day of the event. However, we passed through the check-in without any issues.

The boat was surprisingly large and didn't sway too much, but there were some people who got seasick, so motion sickness medication might be essential. Most of the passengers were Westerners. Kealakekua Bay has exceptional clarity. We enjoyed a luxurious time playing with beautiful fish. Previously, I had dived at various resorts as a resort diver, but I was moved by the beautiful underwater scenery after a long time. The weather was good, and the light shone through, making the corals and colorful fish sparkle. This was the first time I felt so satisfied with snorkeling.

ケアラケクア湾は透明度抜群。キレイな魚たちと遊ぶ贅沢な時間を堪能しました。以前、リゾートダイバーで色々なリゾートで潜りましたが、久しぶりに美しい海中の光景に感動。天候が良かったこともあり、光が差し込みキラキラ輝くサンゴと色とりどりの魚たち。シュノーケルでここまで満足したのは初めてです。

昼食のハンバーガーはとっても美味で、思わずおかわりしてしまいました。またハワイ島に来ることがあれば、もう一度あの美しい海を見たいと思います。

On my first visit to Hawaii, I thought I couldn't miss the dolphin swimming tour, so I checked out tours from other companies and decided to sign up for this one. The meeting point was local, and they provided a detailed map, so I was able to find it without getting lost.

Fortunately, we encountered a pod of dolphins about 15 minutes after the boat departed... it was an emotional moment. After the pod passed by, we were able to get ahead of them and greet the dolphins again, and we did this five times. We could see the dolphins at a distance that felt almost within reach; it was truly like swimming with them.

Our guide, Dai, really conveyed his love for dolphins, which was evident throughout the tour. It goes without saying that the captain's keen eye and steering skills helped us encounter the pod. Since I was wearing a wetsuit, I ended up floating on the surface, so next time I participate, I would like to swim a bit without a wetsuit during warmer weather. 初めてのハワイ訪問でイルカと泳ごうツアーははずせないと思い他の催行会社のツアーも見た上でこちらのツアーに申し込み参加しました。　現地集合だったのですが集合場所の地図も丁寧に載せていただいていたので迷うことなく行けました。　　幸運にも船が出港して１５分くらいでイルカの群れに出会えました・・・感動の瞬間です。　群れが通り過ぎると船で先回りしてまたイルカ達を出迎えるという形式ですがそれが５回もできました。　手の届きそうな距離でイルカを見れる、まさにイルカと泳ぐと言ってもいいくらいです。　ガイドのダイちゃん、ホントにイルカが大好きなんだなぁということがすっごく伝わってきます。　　船長さんの確かな目と操舵でイルカの群れに遭遇できたのは言うまでもありません。　　ウエットスーツを着ていたのでどうしても海面に浮いたままだったので、次に参加するときは暖かい時期であればウエットスーツなしで少し潜って泳ぎたいと思いました。　日本に帰ってから友人たちに自慢しまくりました。

Since all the Japanese tours were fully booked, I was unsure of what to do, but since it was the purpose of my trip, I thought I would manage even though I didn't understand English, and I decided to participate alone. It's necessary to do some research in advance since you have to take a taxi to the meeting point. When I arrived, there were mostly Western couples of various ages. There were a few Japanese people as well, which made me feel a bit more at ease. We traveled by bus to the summit of Mauna Kea, but it gets quite cold along the way, so it's best to dress warmly. We had lunch at a spot where we set up a tent. After that, we continued on a bumpy road, and I was worried about not being able to see the stars due to the fog, but when we reached the top, it cleared up, and we could see the sunset. It was a sensation unlike anything I had experienced before. The oxygen was thin, so it would have been good to bring some candy. After the sun went down, we went to see the stars. The stars were huge and incredibly beautiful. Since it was an English tour, I couldn't understand the explanations at all, but please enjoy the scenery. It was too cold, so I returned to the bus (laughs). I was happy that the driver, Maka, was very kind and attentive. We returned around 11 PM, and it was helpful that they dropped me off at my hotel. 日本語ツアーがどれも満員だった為、どうしようと思いましたが、今回の旅の目的だったので英語がわからなったかですが、何とかなるかなと1人でしたが思いきって参加しました。集合場所までタクシーでいかないといけないのであらかじめ下調べは必要です。着いてからは殆ど欧米のカップル（年齢はバラバラ）でした。日本人も何組かいたので少し安心しました。全てバスでマウナケアの山頂までいくのですが、途中かなり寒くなるので防寒対策は上下しっかりしていった方がいいです。途中テントを張ったとこでゴハンを食べます。その後は、ガタガタした道を進んでいくのですが霧で前が見えなく、星が見えるのか心配してましたが、頂上にいくと一気に晴れ夕焼けが見えます。今までに見た事のない感覚でした。酸素も薄くなるので飴など持っていった方がよかったです。日が沈んでから星を見に行きます。星が大きくすごくきれいでした。英語ツアーなので説明は全くわからなかったですが景色を堪能して下さい。寒すぎてバスに戻りましたが（笑）ドライバーのmakaさんがとても優しく気にかけてくれたので嬉しかったです。帰りは23時くらいですがホテルまてま送ってくれたので助かりました。貴重な体験ができすごくよかったです。
