Tori-chan (the Japanese instructor) provided transportation, and we had a great time in the car. I was invited multiple times by Tori-chan to participate, but I only joined as an observer, which I really regret. My daughter and son had the best experience, seeing manta rays up close for 45 minutes, including one manta that was injured and another that swam in circles four times. Next time, I plan to go to the Big Island to see the manta rays up close and meet Tori-chan again! (^O^)

I couldn't see any big jumps, but I was able to see spouts near the boat multiple times. The guide spoke English, but they showed us a Japanese explanation file. It was also nice to be able to view Mauna Kea from the sea.

At first, I was about to give up because there was no sign of them at all, but suddenly they appeared right in front of me!! I didn't even have time to take a photo. They were very shy whales; once they showed up, they didn't come back for a while (laughs). Then, out of nowhere, they appeared really close! They came so close that I could see their bumps. After that, I was able to watch three whales for a long time. I could have stayed there forever, but for some reason, we moved to another spot. There, we saw two whales from a bit of a distance. I was internally complaining that we shouldn't have moved~~ while desperately trying to record a video. On the way back to the port, we encountered a pod of spinner dolphins! It was a lucky day＼(^o^)／

The morning cruise was wonderful, blessed with great weather. A rainbow appeared, the sky was beautiful, and it felt great just to see people doing yoga on the beach or taking a walk. Once we headed out, we saw whales swimming in the ocean everywhere.

These are completely wild whales, right? I felt like I was in the great outdoors and lost track of time. The boat rocked quite a bit, so I couldn't take photos myself, but there was someone on board with a high-performance camera with a telephoto lens who captured some amazing shots. Everyone got the data from that person and we excitedly talked as if we had taken the photos ourselves.

The cruise also included drinks and light snacks, making it a very satisfying experience.

朝のクルーズは、天気に恵まれて、素晴らしいものでした。虹が出て、空の景色は良いし、浜辺ではヨガをやる人達がいたり、散歩するだけでも気持ち良かったです。さて、沖へ出て、海を泳ぐクジラがあちこちに居ました。

Around 5 PM, we left the harbor and watched the sunset over the ocean. There were about four to five boats offshore. The wind was a bit strong, and the waves crashed violently against the Sheraton Hotel's pier. Feeling a little cold, I tightened my wetsuit up to my neck. Around 6 PM, enveloped in twilight, about 20 participants took turns entering the sea and gazing at the surface. Perhaps due to the weather, the manta rays were not appearing easily... Shortly after, they showed up in slightly deeper waters (3-5 meters?) and passed by. As my body temperature dropped and about 40-50 minutes had passed, suddenly, a manta ray performed a backflip right beneath me! I was moved by the manta's spirit! At the deepest point, we dive down to about 30 meters to see sunken ships and other sights on the seabed. There is also a Japanese audio guide available, so I don't think there will be any issues. If you request a pickup, you will arrive about an hour before the meeting time, and there will be an additional 45 minutes after the return. I think it would be efficient to enjoy some tea nearby or take a stroll around Kailua-Kona during this time. The hotel we stayed at only had high-end souvenir shops, and since we weren't planning to stop by Honolulu, it was great to be able to buy souvenirs all at once at the ABC Store inside the King Kamehameha Hotel.

After reading experiences about the smartphone tour and knowing it was a boat departing from Keauhou Bay, I thought it would be perfect for me since I easily get seasick and feel cold, so I made a reservation. However, on February 16, the day I made the reservation, I received an email via VELTRA at 9 AM notifying me that the tour was canceled due to bad weather. The message stated that I would receive a full refund, and there was a link below for rescheduling the reservation.

I quickly made a reservation for the following day, February 17, and soon received a confirmation reply through VELTRA. However, the next day, there were zero manta rays. When disembarking, I was told, "The office opens at 8 AM tomorrow, so please call." But the next day, I had a tour with Kona Brewing where I would be drinking, so I couldn't drive afterward, and I had to return home the following day.

In a bind, I sent a question email to the VELTRA representative who had sent me the cancellation email, but I received no reply. I had seen too many experiences on VELTRA and mistakenly thought that if I didn't see manta rays, I could try again anytime, similar to other tours. However, for this tour, the information about being able to retry within seven days if I didn't see manta rays only appeared if I opened the "View Details" section on my smartphone.

(There was also information in the Q&A about what to do if I didn't see manta rays, but I noticed it too late...) The guide might have explained the details about retrying when disembarking, but I couldn't understand because I'm not fluent in English. It's my own mistake, and there's nothing I can do about it, but I'm really disappointed that I didn't see any manta rays. このツアーは、スマホだと〔詳細を見る〕というところを開けないとマンタが見れなかった場合７日以内に再挑戦可能という文面が現れません。
（Q&Aにも、マンタに会えなかった場合のことが書いてありましたが、気づくのが遅かった…）
ガイドさんは、下船時に再挑戦に際しての詳しい話もされていたのかもしれませんが、英語が堪能ではないので、理解できず。
自分のミスで、仕方ないことですが、マンタが見られず、本当に残念です。
次回は、マンタに会えなかった場合は再挑戦がいつでもOKなところを選ぼうと思います。

Snorkelling in the night with manta rays was an awesome experience.
Everything was perfectly organized: Captain and "Mermaids" were professional, nice and helpful.
We did it with our two kids (8 and 11) and they loved it.
Big mantas swam a few cm from us: in many occasions it looked like it was better to keep the breath in order to avoid touching them!!
It was super-fun and safe.
I recommend this activity to everybody!!!!
Big thanks to the crew for the amazing memories we will bring with us forever

Because it was a morning cruise, they made good on sighting whales. There were multiple sightings. The amount of time on the boat was good, because after the sightings, I could actually relax and just enjoy the rest of the boat ride. The refreshments were tremendous. The crew was very generous and informative. I know the crew couldn't get as close as I would have liked, because of regulations, but I sure would have liked to have closer pictures and more majestic surfacings. But, overall we were happy with the cruise.

I had a rare experience being able to see manta rays up close! They come quite close to you, which can be a little scary. I usually don't get seasick, but I started to feel queasy after floating in the water and looking down at the manta rays for a long time, so I went back up to the boat partway through. I think it's a good idea for those who are prone to motion sickness to take some medication. It gets chilly at night, so I also recommend preparing for the cold.

マンタを間近で見ることができて、貴重な体験ができました！マンタの方からかなり近づいて来るので、ちょっと怖いくらいです。
普段あまり酔ったりはしませんが、マンタを見るためにずっと下を向いて海に浮いて波に揺られていたことで、酔ってきたので途中でしたが船上に上がりました(･･;)
酔いやすい方は酔い止めを飲んだ方がいいと思います。夜は冷えるので、防寒対策もおススメします

I was very worried about seasickness, but since there was a 99% chance of seeing manta rays, I decided to join this tour. Unfortunately, it seems the waves were high, and we weren't able to see them.

While waiting for the manta rays, I got really seasick, whether on the boat or being rocked in the water... Maybe because of the season, it was very cold while waiting in the water, and I was shivering a lot, so I thought I should have considered the type of swimsuit I wore. (I rented and wore a wetsuit!) Since it was cold, they mentioned bringing items like a bath towel, but it would have been nice to have some information specifically for women in that regard.

Since I couldn't see the manta rays this time, they said I could come back for free next time, so I'm looking forward to it! But I don't know how many years it will be until then (^^;;

The Japanese female staff member was very cheerful and kind, and she was amazing!!! I'm really grateful!☆

船酔いがとても心配でしたが、99%以上の確率ということでしたので、参加したこのツアー。しかし、波が高かったのか、残念ながら見ることができませんでした。
マンタを待っている間は、ボートの上でも水中で波に揺られていても、すごく酔ってしまいました…。時期が時期だったからか、水の中で待っている間は、とても寒くてガクガク震えるくらいでしたので、水着の種類を考えればよかったかなーと思いました。（スウェットスーツはレンタルして着ていました！）寒いので、持ち物にはバスタオルなどは書いてありましたが、女性のためにもそこの部分の記載もあればありがたかったです。
見られなかった分、次回行った時に無料でご案内していただけるそうですので、期待しています！が、何年後になるか分かりません(^^;;

日本人スタッフの女性の方は、とても明るく親切で、最高でした！！！本当に感謝しています☆

While moving, we spotted a whale and got super excited‼️ I think it was all about timing, but I’m glad we got to see it. The sunset was also amazing‼️ After arriving at the spot and getting ready, we entered the water~. We saw a manta ray❣️ It was so impressive. I’m glad we got to see it several times.

In January, for night manta diving, you need to prepare for the cold. I think renting a wetsuit is necessary. However, since it's a spring suit, which is short-sleeved and short-legged, those who are sensitive to the cold should definitely wear long sleeves and long pants (rash guard).

On the way back, it was clear and there was no moon, so the starry sky was beautiful. However, since you return to the port while still wet, you need to prepare for the cold. I think having two bath towels per person would be good.

Since it's nature, sometimes you see things and sometimes you don't, but you have to enjoy it in your own way! The staff were kind and friendly.

I felt colder than I expected. There were two manta rays swimming around. I was happy to see them, but if I could wish for more, I would have liked them to come closer. I wanted to see more of them.

I was glad to receive snacks and water after getting back on the boat, but it was cold, so it would have been even better if we could have had hot drinks.

Whales can be seen with a probability of over 90%. Even better was the view of Hawaii Island from the boat. It was beautiful, magnificent, and absolutely the best. The boat was well-equipped with meals, drinks, and restrooms, providing everything you could need.

This was my second Manta experience and I was disappointed not to see a manta. There were a lot of boats out looking, I counted 15 at one time and it was just before dusk. On a previous Manta experience it was later so I wonder if they prefer to feed later when it's completely dark? I felt like I got to the party early and the cool kids showed up after I left. There was no lack of plankton however, so we were amused by the fish that gathered; an entire school under our light. I've gotten used to the 'entertainment' boat staff provides which makes an excursion more fun. This excursion was rather perfunctory. Go out, hop in the water, no manta, ok, go back. Everyone was rather disappointed not to see Mantas, so I'm not sure if that made going back seem rather glum. I realize these are wild creatures but my last excursion (with another company) there were quite a few Manta, like 6-8? It was an incredible experience that I wanted to repeat with my husband and was disappointed.

Amazing, there are three manta rays! 凄いぞマンタが３匹も！

I had seen it on TV before and really wanted to experience it, and finally, it came true this time. The boat left the harbor and after about 30 minutes, we arrived. As the tension increased, I relaxed by talking with the Japanese female guide and some locals. Then, as it got dark, the main event began. The captain called out and everyone went to the sea.

After waiting for a while, I heard a boy next to me shout, "They've come!" Sure enough, when I looked over, there was a manta ray, and I joined in the cheers. The manta rays were dancing around with incredible energy. There’s no other way to describe it; it was amazing. After a few minutes of screaming, everyone got back on the boat, looking satisfied and chatting for a while.

When I asked the guide, she said it was the best experience she had had recently. Even now, I can vividly recall that wonderful sight. I am grateful to all the staff for this amazing experience.

前にテレビの映像で観てぜひ体験したいと思っていましたがやっと今回実現にいたりました。船は港を出て30分ほど走って到着。緊張感が増す中、日本人女性ガイドや近隣の方と色々話してリラックス。そんな中いよいよ暗くなって本番?キャプテンが声を上げみんな海へ。
しばらく待ってると隣の少年が来た〜って声を。
確かにそちらを見るとマンタが〜って私も歓声を。凄い勢いでマンタの乱舞。
これは凄いとしか言いようがない。絶叫の数十分後みんな船に上がり満足そうにしばらく 談笑。
ガイドに聞いたらつい最近で最高ですなんて。いま思い出しても素晴らしい光景が目に浮かびます。この素晴らしい体験にスタッフの皆さんに感謝です。

We had an experience beyond description. After watching the whale sufficiently, when the sailor turned on the music for a small party, the captain shouted for me to look for the noon direction and I saw a wonderful scene. Music was playing on the boat, a group of dolphins came from two o'clock, and a humpback whale made a wonderful vertical jump on the horizon. At that moment my friend and I felt we were in a dream. It was a fascinating and beautiful experience.

My first whale watch was a total success. It was a beautiful day. The staff was more than helpful and friendly. The information from the naturalist was engaging and helpful. We were fortunate enough to see spouts of water, breeching and a few beautiful tails. I would definitely do this again.

Even though it's always summer in Hawaii, we found ourselves in the middle of winter, and unfortunately, it was cold and rainy. We suited up in wetsuits and headed out into the waves, which were quite rough! From a Japanese perspective, it was surprising to start the tour under such bad weather conditions.

As expected, my wife, who isn't very confident in her physical strength, quickly returned to the boat due to the cold and the waves. I was worried about her, and I ended up slipping on the deck and injuring my side. We only managed to spot two manta rays near the ocean floor, which left us a bit disappointed on our first day in Hawaii.

I had joined the tour believing the reviews that said it would be fine even without understanding English, but I think it would be safer to go with a Japanese-speaking tour, even if it costs a bit more. However, I did find that the catamaran had less rocking than expected, so I hope to try again under better conditions.

常夏のハワイ、とは言え真冬おまけに生憎の雨で寒い中、屋根ひとつないところでウェットスーツに身を包み沖へ出るとかなりのうねりが！
われわれ日本人の感覚からすれば、こんな、悪天候の時に出航するのかと思ってしまう条件の中でのスタートとなりました。
案の定寒さと、うねりにより体力に自信のない女房は早々に船上に。
心配で同行した私も、デッキで滑り転倒して脇腹を痛める始末。
肝心のマンタは海の底辺りに２尾だけ現れたのを確認できたのみで、ハワイ島初日にすこしがっかりのツアーでした。
英語がわからなくても、勢いで大丈夫っていった書き込みを信じての参加でしたが、やはり費用が割高でも日本語でのツアーの方が安全面のためにも良いのではと思います。
ただ、双胴船のため、揺れは少ない方だと思いました、好条件の時ににリベンジしたいと思います。
