We participated as a family, including my 8-year-old daughter. Our tour guide, Daisuke, took great care of my daughter and ensured she had a wonderful experience swimming with the dolphins. Thanks to him, I was able to focus on swimming with the dolphins without worrying about anything else, even though I’m not a confident swimmer. We encountered a group of 17 dolphins. Each time they surfaced for air, I could see their eye patterns and skin texture incredibly clearly. I was truly moved by how close they swam to us.

Daisuke made sure that all participants were satisfied and allowed us to enjoy swimming with the dolphins, dropping us in the water 5 to 6 times. We had more fun than we imagined, and we even signed up for the night manta tour on the spot. This too was magical, as we got to see sparkling plankton and a large group of mantas up close, making it feel like a spacewalk.

Daisuke and Captain Nawata really made it enjoyable, and the time spent on the boat heading to the points became a wonderful memory.

I definitely want to participate again next time. My daughter was also very satisfied!

参加メンバーが満足するまでキッチリ、イルカとの遊泳を楽しませてくれて、5〜6回もドロップしました。
想像以上に楽しませていただき、その場で夜のマンタツアーにも申し込みました。こちらも、ライティングされた海中でキラキラ光るプランクトンとホレホレの群れ、大きなマンタの舞いを至近距離で見られ、まるで宇宙遊泳のように幻想的でした。

ツアーガイドのダイスケさん、キャプテンの縄田船長が本当に楽しませてくれて、ボートでポイントに向かう間も素敵な思い出になりました。

次回も是非参加したいです。娘も大満足でした！

As marine activity lovers, we requested this experience with a feeling of "it seems fun," and in the end, we were completely satisfied and enjoyed ourselves.

I recently participated in this tour. I had no knowledge of manta rays at all before joining... but there were absolutely no problems! After getting on the boat, we received detailed explanations about the ecology of manta rays, Hawaiian language, and the Big Island. Of course, there was a Japanese guide with us, so I felt at ease. The captain was very cheerful and played the ukulele from the time we arrived until we started snorkeling. That moment during sunset was truly beautiful.

You can rent a wetsuit for $10 for snorkeling. Since you spend a long time in the water, I think this is essential. Plankton gathers under the lights, attracting the manta rays that come to feed. They are not being fed. During this time, many other fish also come, creating a scene straight out of The Little Mermaid. The manta rays come close enough to touch a little. 先日当ツアーに参加させて頂きました。マンタの知識は全くないままでの参加。。。しかし問題はまったくありません！ボートに乗ってからマンタの生態、ハワイ語について、ハワイ島について丁寧に説明して頂きました。もちろん日本語ガイドさんもついてくれているので安心です。船長はとっても陽気な方で、船が着いてからシュノーケル開始までウクレレをひいてくれました。サンセットタイムでのこの一時は本当に美しかったです。
シュノーケルでは10＄でウエットスーツをレンタルできます。水中に入っている時間が長いのでこれは必須だと思います。ライトに照らされプランクトンが集まり、それを食べにマンタ達が集まります。決して餌付けはしていません。その間は他の魚達も大勢来るので、正にリトルマーメイドの世界です。マンタは少し触れてくる位接近してきます。そして大きな口を開けるのでマンタの模型が作れるのでは、と思うほど隅々まで観察できます。
期待以上の経験ができました。YOU MUST GO！

This time, I participated in the manta tour with Aloha Kona Tours and was so moved that I spontaneously joined the dolphin snorkeling as well.

I had previously participated in a tour to swim with dolphins in Oahu, but I had a bitter experience where the dolphins quickly swam away and I couldn't swim with them at all. I had given up on the idea of swimming with wild dolphins.

So, the experience of encountering dolphins, seeing them up close, and swimming together surpassed even the manta experience... I really got to swim close to the dolphins!

Our guide, Daisuke, diligently searched for points where dolphins were located, and thanks to his efforts, I was able to see many dolphins.

Just watching the dolphins swim close to Daisuke was healing. The dolphins were, of course, not scary at all, but I felt a bit anxious about diving in the deep sea without anything to hold onto, so I borrowed a float, which ended up being a bit of a hindrance.

I think I encountered a total of about 30 to 40 dolphins in the sea. I've heard that on lucky days, you can encounter over 100 dolphins?? I believe we swam in the sea for about 40 minutes.

Also, I was fortunate enough to see a whale. During that time, Daisuke really persevered (laughs) in searching for the whale.

今回、アロハコナツアーズのマンタの方に参加し、感動しずぎて、急遽イルカシュノーケリングに参加しました。

私は、以前、オアフでイルカと泳ぐツアーに参加したことがあるのですが、イルカはすぐ逃げて全く一緒に泳げないという苦い経験があり、野生のイルカと泳ぐのは無理なんだろうなとあきらめていました。

なので、イルカに出会え、間近で見れ、一緒に泳ぐ感動はマンタを超えました・・・。

ガイドのダイスケさんは、イルカのいるポイントを丁寧に何度も探してくれ、トライできたので、沢山のイルカを見ることができたと思います。

ダイスケさんに近づいてきて一緒に泳ぐイルカを見てるだけで、癒されました。
イルカは、もちろん全く怖くないですし、深い海に浮き輪等つかまるものがない中、潜るのはちょっと不安で、フロートを借りたのですが、結局邪魔になりました。


おそらく、合計、30～40匹位のイルカと海の中で遭遇できたのでしょうか。ラッキーな日は100匹以上のイルカに遭遇できる日もあるとか？？大体、海の中で泳ぐのは40分位だったと思います。

また、幸運にもクジラを見ることができました。その際も、ダイスケさんはかなりねばって（笑）クジラを探してくれました。

日本に帰ってからも、しばらくイルカが頭から離れませんでした。また、絶対イルカに会いに行きたいです！

I go to the Big Island every year because I want to swim with dolphins. This was my first time participating in this tour, and the instruction was thorough, and the staff was friendly, making it a lot of fun.

They also had solid safety measures in place, so I recommend this tour for beginners as well.

This time, as soon as we got out to sea, we encountered a pod of over 100 dolphins, and I was lucky enough to be surrounded by dolphins just by floating on the surface.

I would love to participate again if I have the chance.

I decided to join this tour after seeing the reviews, as it seemed interesting. Our hotel was in Waikoloa, and since there are five of us in the family, I wanted to minimize expenses by opting for a local meeting point. However, since there was no transportation available for the return, I chose the option with pick-up. The young man who came to pick us up was very friendly. He couldn't speak Japanese, but he had a name similar to my son's, which helped us bond quickly and made it enjoyable.

It was a bit chilly, so I borrowed a wetsuit. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to stay out long because it was too cold. It was everyone's first time going out into the night sea, and we were all nervous, but our guide, Leon, provided great support, making it enjoyable even for my first grader. (He speaks Japanese almost like a native.) I was worried that my child might be screaming out of fear, but it turned out to be excited shouts as the manta rays came so close they almost bumped into us. Although we shouldn't touch them, they were so close that we truly felt the wildness of the experience.

The water was so clear that we could see the bottom (it was dark, but occasionally the lights illuminated it), and many manta rays' white bellies floated up, creating an exhilarating and moving sight! It was definitely worth it. I'm really glad we went!

Leon said, "The joy of this job is knowing that the kids will remember today for a long time," which left a strong impression on me. We also visited Oahu during this trip, and when I asked the kids what they remembered most, they said it was this "Manta Tour." It's that impactful of an experience. I highly recommend trying it!

肌寒かったのでウエットスーツを借りました。着ないとと寒くて長くは見ていられなかったでしょう。夜の海に出るのは皆初めてでドキドキでしたが、ちゃんとガイドのリオン君がサポートしてくれたので、小１の子も楽しめました。(日本人なみに日本語話せます)怖さで絶叫しているのかと心配していたら、マンタがぶつかる位接近してくるので、興奮しての雄叫びでした。触れてはいけないのに、マンタからぶつかってくるので、まさしく野性を肌で感じられるツアーです。海の底が見える程の透明度のなか(暗いけど時折ライトで底が見える)、沢山のマンタの白いお腹が浮かび上がり、その迫力に興奮と感動！間違いなしです。本当に行って良かった！

リオン君が「子ども達が、今日のことをずっと覚えていてくれる事が、この仕事をやっている喜び」と言っていたのが印象的でした。今回の旅行はオアフ島にも行ったのですが、子ども達に何が一番心に残ったか聞いたら、この「マンタツアー」でした。それ位キョーレツなツアーです。是非おためしを！

I was looking for a tour to swim with dolphins on the Big Island and narrowed it down to two options: ① a small boat tour with about six people (no restroom, no shower, some snacks provided, possibly swimming close to dolphins) or ② a large boat (with restroom, shower, breakfast and lunch included, able to see dolphins but not swim with them). When I asked my kids, they preferred the large boat with a slide (more interested in that than the dolphins... haha), and considering my wife's health, I thought it would be better to choose the tour with the restroom, so I went with option ②.

In fact, two years ago, when I participated in a tour with Quicksilver in Cairns, Australia, the large boat had a buffet for lunch and was equipped with restrooms and changing rooms, making it very comfortable, so I chose a similar type this time as well. The departure location was a bit far from the office and unclear, but when I first went to the departure point and asked a crew member near the boat, they kindly guided me, allowing me to find the office and park the car successfully.

When I got close to the boat, the check-in was smooth, and we boarded. The boat was not as large as the one from Quicksilver in Australia, with six booth-style seats like those in a family restaurant, and there were bench seats back-to-back in the central area on the second floor, which had a roof, while the outer bench seats were exposed to the sun. By the way, for those prone to seasickness, the first-floor seats are recommended as they experience less rocking.

Since we had an early morning meeting, there was a simple breakfast buffet where we could eat as much as we wanted, including fruit. Also, I had accidentally submerged my waterproof camera the day before, so I rented a digital camera (GoPro) for about $30 with an 8GB SD card and chip. I think it’s much better than the waterproof disposable camera... I tried both, but the photos included here are from the GoPro.

Unlike the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, we didn’t go out far into the ocean but progressed along the coast. Therefore, we were on the boat for about 30 to 40 minutes. When we arrived, the staff distributed snorkeling masks, and the fins were located under the seats on the first floor, so we were told to choose ones that fit our foot size. The water was deep enough for diving, so I borrowed a life jacket (the staff will lend it to you if you ask; you can just gesture to indicate what you need... haha).

When I went to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia around the same time, the seawater was a bit cold, and I borrowed a wetsuit (to prevent jellyfish stings), but this time it wasn’t necessary (there were no jellyfish). The visibility was incredible, and I could see all the way down. It was beautiful.

We swam freely around the boat and slid down the slide from the second floor (the slide ends around the first floor, and you drop into the water from about one floor high). My third-grade son enjoyed it. The adults also had fun. Even without the slide, you could jump in from the second floor where there were no railings.

Around lunchtime, they started a BBQ on the deck, and we had a buffet-style meal centered around hamburgers. During this time, we had free time to eat or play until the departure time.

On the way back, we encountered a pod of dolphins that swam alongside the boat and jumped around. I think we were very fortunate with the weather. I did feel a bit seasick during the trip, but since it was a large boat, I could lie down in my seat the whole time, so I was glad it wasn’t a small boat.

By the way, we were the only Japanese on this tour. Even though we came all the way to Hawaii, it felt a bit lonely to be surrounded by only Japanese people, so I chose this tour, but thanks to that, I was able to make friends with an American who came from Los Angeles.

Since I got seasick this time, I rated it four stars, but the tour itself was great.

子どもたちに尋ねたところ船にスライダーがついている②大型船を希望し（イルカよりもそっちか…笑）、妻の体調のことも考えるとトイレが完備されているツアーの方がいいかと思い、②を選びました。
実際、2年前にオーストラリアのケアンズでクイックシルバー社のツアーに参加した時、大型船で昼食にビュッフェがあったり、トイレ・更衣室等完備されていたので、大変快適だったので、今回もそのようなタイプを選びました。
出発場所から若干事務所が離れていてよくわからなく、最初に出発場所に行って船の近くにいるクルーに尋ねたら親切に教えてくれたので、事務所を無事に見つけ、車を駐車することができました。
船の近くに行くと受付が行われていて、スムーズに済み、乗船。
オーストラリアのクイックシルバー社の船ほどの大きさはなく、ファミレスのボックスシートのような席が6か所、あとは二階席で中央側にベンチシートが背中合わせであり、そこには屋根があり、外側のベンチシートは日が当たるような状態でした。ちなみに船酔いしやすい人は1階席の方が揺れが少ないのでお勧めです。
朝早くの集合のため、簡単な朝食バイキングがあり、フルーツを含め好きなだけ食べることができました。また前日に防水カメラの内部に浸水させて故障させてしまったので、デジタルカメラ（GoPro）を借りました（8GBのSDカードとチップを入れて30ドル程度だったかな。防水タイプの写るんですよりは全然いいかと思います…両方試してみましたが。今回掲載している写真は、GoProのものです）
オーストラリアのグレートバリアリーフとは違い沖に出ず、岸に沿って進んでいきます。そのため30分か40分程度船に乗るくらいです。
到着する頃になると、スタッフがシュノーケルのマスクを配ってくれ、フィンは1階のシート下にあるので、自分の足のサイズに合うものを選んで使ってくれということでした。ダイビングもできるくらいの深さのところなので、ライフジャケットを借り（スタッフに言えば貸してくれます。というか、置いてあるものを手で持って、ジェスチャーで示すだけでもわかってもらえます…笑）
オーストラリアのグレートバリアリーフに同じ時期に行った時は、海水がやや冷たく、ウェットスーツを借りましたが（クラゲ防止も含めて）、今回は不要でした（クラゲもおらず）。
透明度がすごくて、思いっきり下まで見えました。綺麗です。
船の周辺を好き勝手に泳いだり、2階からスライダーで滑り下りて（1階くらいでスライダーがなくなり、残り1階分くらいの高さから）、水中に落ちる。小3の息子は楽しんでいました。外国人は大人も楽しんでいました。スライダーでなくても2階の手すりのないところから飛びこむこともできます。
昼食頃になるとデッキでBBQをやり始め、ハンバーガーを中心としたバイキング形式の食事になります。
この辺りは食べようが遊ぼうが出発時間までは自由時間です。
帰り道でイルカの群れに遭遇し、船と並走して、ジャンプしたりしてくれました。
天気にも恵まれて大変よかったと思います。
途中船酔い状態になりましたが、やはり大型船だったため、ずっとシートで横になっていることができたので、小型ボートでなくてよかったと思いました。
ちなみにこのツアーですが日本人はうちだけでした。せっかくハワイまで来たのに、周りが日本人ばかりというのもちょっと寂しいので、そのようなツアーにしましたが、お陰でロスから来られたアメリカ人の方と仲良くすることができました。
今回酔ってしまったので、星4つとしましたが、ツアー自体はいいものです。

I participated in the tour with my 8-year-old and 6-year-old sons. Honestly, both of them were a bit anxious about swimming, and I was a little worried before joining the tour. But with our kind and reliable swim guide, Daisuke, I felt reassured! Once we set off, both my kids and I completely relaxed. The boat ride was comfortable, and I didn't have to worry about seasickness.

We were able to see dolphins right away, and they swam close to us multiple times. The happy dolphins showed off by jumping several times. They swam by us, displaying various expressions as they played together. Hearing the dolphins' sounds was truly moving and gave me goosebumps.

Daisuke not only ensures that the guests have fun but also prioritizes not putting any stress on the dolphins. He knows a lot about dolphins, so while other boat groups seemed to be desperately chasing after them, Daisuke thought about the dolphins' pathways, letting us enter the water quietly, and the dolphins would come close to us.

Do you believe that dolphins and humans can communicate? Daisuke asked me this, and now I truly believe they can. Since then, I've started dreaming about dolphins. I want to visit them again someday. I highly recommend this tour for those who want to be healed, connect with dolphins, or feel a bit anxious about the sea.

イルカにも、すぐに会うことが出来、何度も近くを泳いでくれました。ご機嫌が良いイルカは何度もジャンプを見せてくれました。親子で泳ぐ姿、じゃれあいながら泳ぐ姿、いろんな表情を見せながら私達の近くを通って行きました。イルカの声を聞いた時には鳥肌が立つような感動でした。
ダイスケさんはお客さんを楽しませることはもちろん、イルカに負担を掛けないことも大切にしています。イルカの事を熟知しているので、他のボートのグループはイルカの後を必死に追いかけている感じなのに対し、ダイスケさんはイルカの通り道を考えて私たちを入水させ、静かに待っていると本当にイルカの方から近くを通って行ってくれるんです。

I participated with my daughter. There were 10 foreign participants and only the two of us from Japan. I wasn't very confident in my English, so I was quite anxious, but I received a Japanese printout at the reception, which helped me understand the general flow of the event, so I was glad to participate.

The rubber boat was very bumpy, and I was desperately holding on, but my daughter was having a great time and was very excited. On the way back, the boat rocked violently from side to side and turned, making it feel like we were on a roller coaster at an amusement park. There were some elderly participants, but they seemed to enjoy themselves, so I think age shouldn't be a concern.

In Kealakekua Bay, we were able to see colorful fish, which became a wonderful memory. 英語が得意ではないので、かなり不安でしたが、受付で日本語のプリントをいただいたので、大体の流れを把握した上で参加できて良かったです。
前日に予約確認が必要でしたが、ホテルの方にお願いして電話してもらいました。

ゴムボートはとにかく、揺れが激しく私は掴まっているのに必死でしたが、娘はとにかく楽しく大興奮していました。帰り道では、ボートを激しく左右に動かしたり、旋回したりと
まるで、遊園地のジェットコースターに乗っている気分でした。
参加者の中にはかなり高齢の方もいらっしゃいまいしたが、楽しく参加されていたので、
ご年齢は気になさらなくても大丈夫だと思います。

ケアラケクア湾では、色とりどりの魚たちを見ることができて、最高の思い出になりました。身体に巻く浮き具を借りて、スノーケルをしたので、泳ぎの得意でない娘も安心でした。
キャプテンが色々なお話をしてくれて、皆さん和気あいあいとしていい雰囲気でツアーは
終了しました。
移動中には、鯨を見ることもできて、嬉しかったです。
かなり日差しが強いので、日焼け止めクリームを何度か塗り直す方がいいと思います。
帽子は風で飛んでしまうので、頭の日焼けが気になる方は、フードをかぶり紐で止めるといいかもしれません。スノーケル後は冷えるので、パーカーや大きめのバスタオルがあると

I participated in this tour during the summer. Even though it's summer in Hawaii, the ocean at night can be quite chilly. I wore two long-sleeved rash guards, so I was relatively okay until the end, but I think it's better to borrow a wetsuit as it gets extremely cold towards the end and on the way back. I heard that there were none the day before, but on this day, they appeared in large numbers, and no matter how much I tried to avoid them, they kept bumping into me (apparently, they seem to like the lights of the boat). You can easily see manta rays just by holding onto a large buoy and looking down. I will definitely repeat this when I go to the Big Island next time. As for the guide, she was a smart and humorous woman. I think you can’t go wrong with her. She was the most considerate guide I’ve ever met. The male guide was a completely different type, but he was an interesting person once you started talking to him.

こんどハワイ島に行ってもリピートします。
ガイドさんですが、女性の聡明なユーモアのある方です。こちらの方なら間違いないかと。
私が今まで会ったガイドさんでNO.1の気遣いができる人でした。
男性ガイドさんの方は全く違うタイプですが、話せば面白い人でした。

We participated as a family of three.
During snorkeling, I touched a long, blue fish that swam right next to me! I was thrilled to see many colorful and beautiful fish in the shallow area to the left as we headed toward Kealakekua Bay. Diving a few meters deep was also interesting as it brought me closer to the fish.
The sandwiches for lunch were very delicious! They were a bit small for the men, but it seemed there were some leftovers, so we could have seconds. There were also snacks and drinks available, which made me satisfied.
On the way back, we enjoyed dolphin and whale watching. There were moments when the dolphins swam alongside the boat without being scared or avoiding it! The dolphins put on a great show, jumping and twisting in the water. It was fascinating to see them do that without being taught.
The whales were dynamic, spouting water and slapping their tails. The highlight was when one repeatedly raised its pectoral fins and slapped the water's surface, almost as if it was saying, "Goodbye!" I was amazed to see a whale up so close.
It was an incredibly valuable experience. Thank you to all the staff!

イルカは、ジャンプしたり、ひねり技を見せてくれたり、大サービスでした。教えられたわけでもないでしょうに、どうしてそうするのか、不思議でした。
クジラは、ダイナミックに潮を噴き上げたり、尾びれを打ちつけたり…。最高だったのは、胸びれを何度も上げては水面を叩く様子。まるで「バイバイ！」って言っているようでした。クジラをあんなに間近で見られるなんて、感激しました。
すごく貴重な体験でした。スタッフの皆さん、ありがとうございました。

On March 28, 2014, I participated with my two sons, one a university student and the other soon to be a high school student. The office staff were very kind and responded cheerfully to my limited English.

First, we took a boat for about an hour to Kealakekua Bay. By the time we arrived, my backside was a bit sore from the rough ride. We borrowed snorkeling gear, including masks and fins, and jumped into the sea from the edge of the boat. Near the Captain Cook monument, the water was shallow enough to touch, and beautiful fish swam close by. After thoroughly enjoying the underwater show, we got back on the boat for a sandwich lunch, which included drinks, snacks, and pineapple. Everything was delicious! My energetic sons continued to enjoy snorkeling before we headed back.

On the return trip, we went even faster! Driving along the coastline was thrilling! We saw cliffs that looked like the sleeping form of the volcano goddess "Pele," and we almost bumped into coastal caves, which felt like a theme park attraction and was quite exciting.

Suddenly slowing down made me wonder what was happening, and then we spotted a pod of dolphins swimming right next to the boat. They not only jumped but even twisted in the air! I was amazed at how skilled they were, wondering who trained them.

Moreover, out in the distance, we spotted a whale! As soon as we saw it, it approached at an incredible speed, allowing us to do some close whale watching! The way it raised and lowered its pectoral fins looked just like it was waving at us. It was my first time seeing a whale, and it was truly moving.

When we arrived at Honokohau Marina, we were greeted by dolphins and turtles! We had fun right up until the very end. Thank you to everyone on the Captain Zodiac for the wonderful memories.

まずは、１時間ほどボートに乗ってケアラケクア湾へ。激しい揺れにちょっとお尻が痛くなった頃、到着しました。シュノーケル＆水中眼鏡、フィンを借りて、いざ海へ！ボートの淵からザブンと飛び入りました。キャプテンクックのモニュメント付近が浅くなっていて、さわれる程ちかくを綺麗な魚たちが泳いでいした。海中ショーをしっかり堪能した頃、ボートに上がってサンドイッチの昼食。飲み物とスナック、パイナップルつきでした。どれも美味しかった！ 元気な息子たちは、その後もシュノーケルを楽しみ、帰路に着着ました。
帰りは、さらに高速！ 海岸線を走るのでスリル満点！ 火山の神『ペレ』の寝姿？みたいに見える絶壁を見せてくれたり、海岸洞窟みたいな絶壁にぶつかりそうに入ったり、遊園地のアトラクションみたいでドキドキしました。
急に減速したので、？と思ったら、ボートのすぐそばをイルカの群れが遊泳中。ジャンプばかりか、ツイストまで見せてくれました。誰が仕込んでるの？って思うくらい芸達者で、びっくり…。
さらに、沖の方には、なんと！クジラが！ 見つけるや否やものすごいスピードで近づき、間近でホエールウォッチング！ 胸びれを上げ下げしているのが、まるで手を振っているみたいでした。初めて見たクジラ！ 感動でした。
ホノウコウマリーナに到着すると、イルカとカメがお出迎え！ 最後の最後までしっかり楽しませてもらいました。
キャプテンゾディアック号の皆さん、素敵な思い出をありがとうございました。
【快適に過ごすために】
ボート走行中は風が強いです。大きめのバスタオルと薄いパーカーなどあると、ほっとできます。
水しぶきがかかります。ビニール袋やジップロックなどがあると、便利です。
日差しを浴び続けます。日焼け止めは持って行った方が安心です。
海中は結構冷えます。ラッシュガードを着ていると楽です。

The guide had a condescending tone throughout. Everything was in a commanding manner. It was the worst. I felt bad when they said that Japanese people are gloomy and therefore get drunk. If they are Japanese themselves, I wonder if they realize how their comments can heighten feelings of tension and anxiety in an unfamiliar place.

They also pressured us for tips, saying it should be over $10 per person. At first, they said tips were just a gesture, but is that not acceptable?

I was moved by the manta rays, but you have to rely on your own strength to float, which requires a lot of stamina.

It was stated that they would lend life jackets, but we only received fins and snorkels. The wetsuits were an extra charge, and it was different from what was detailed.

It's really disappointing, especially since the manta rays were so wonderful.

I chose the local meeting plan since I had a rental car. I was worried about whether I could find the place in an unfamiliar area, but it was an easy-to-understand meeting spot.

Even in Hawaii, February is winter. Although the water temperature was said to be 25 degrees, the instructor mentioned, "It's cold enough to cry," so I honestly rented a wetsuit (for a fee) and prescription goggles (for free).

On the boat, we moved to a spot where we could see manta rays while watching the sunset. It was peak whale season, and I heard that many whales were spotted the day before. Unfortunately, during our time, only the captain saw one briefly.

I thought we would be snorkeling, but in reality, participants didn't swim; we all just held onto a pole and floated together. It might sound boring, but it was surprisingly comfortable as we could move long distances in the sea without using much energy. Swimming in the night sea was also a first experience for me, but since we were just floating together, there was no fear.

Mantas were attracted to the light that drew in plankton, but many fish also came close, making it quite a sight, comparable to snorkeling.

船の上では、サンセットを見ながらマンタがいる場所まで移動します。
クジラのピークシーズンだったので、前日ははかなりの数のクジラが見れたそうです。残念ながら、私達の時はキャプテン一人のみが一瞬目撃しただけでした。

スノーケリングをするものだと思いこんでいたのですが、実際は参加者自ら水泳をするのではなく、みんなで、ただ棒をつかんで浮遊しているだけです。つまらなそうですが、体力を使わずに、海を長距離移動できるので、意外と快適です。夜の海で泳ぐのも初体験でしたが、みんなと浮いているだけなので、怖さもありませんでした。

ライトで寄ってくるプランクトンを目当てにマンタが寄ってくるのですが、マンタ以外にもたくさんの魚が寄ってくるのでスノーケル並みの見ごたえがありました。

マンタの説明を船上で詳しくしていただいたので、それぞれの個体に親近感を持てます。

プランクトンを寄せる光が、幻想的でステキでした。

水からあがると、“泣イチャウ　ホド　寒イ”ので、暖かい服を用意して参加することをオススメします。

本当に参加して良かったと思えるツアーでした。

On February 13th, my spouse and I participated in a manta night snorkeling tour. This was one of the main reasons we chose the Big Island, so while we were very excited, we were also a bit nervous about whether we would actually encounter these natural creatures.

We gathered at Honokohau Harbor for check-in at 5:15 PM, but we started to get anxious when our guide was late. However, upon reviewing the materials, we noticed that the start time was actually 5:45 PM, and sure enough, the guide arrived right on time.

After that, the guide explained the flow of the evening and checked our sizes for wetsuits (which were available for rent at $10) and fins, and we boarded the boat! There were four of us Japanese participants, along with four foreign guests and the staff. It was reassuring that our guide was Japanese!

The manta snorkeling takes place at night, so we departed the harbor in the evening. It was around sunset, and although it was a bit cloudy that day, I believe we would have seen a beautiful Kona sunset if it had been clear!

It takes about 20 minutes to reach the manta point, but within five minutes of being out at sea, the captain shouted, "There’s a whale at 12 o'clock!" We were lucky enough to see the whale twice!

When we arrived at the point, several other tour boats were already gathered. Since we had some time before the mantas arrived, the guide taught us various things about manta biology, how to distinguish between males and females, and why mantas gather in Kona.

As other tours started to arrive, our tour was allowed to wait on the boat as long as possible to conserve energy. Finally, we entered the water. Almost immediately, I thought I saw a shadow of a manta in the deep, and then, right at our feet, a manta came into clear view!

Soon, more and more mantas appeared, making it feel like we were in an aquarium! It hadn’t even been five minutes since we entered the water, and all participants were thrilled to see the mantas! Watching them do flips while feeding on plankton was breathtaking! They came so close that it felt like we could almost touch them; it was a dreamlike experience. We enjoyed snorkeling with the mantas for about 40 to 45 minutes.

After spending a long time in the water, my hands started to feel numb, and once back on the boat, the wind made me shiver. I quickly took off my wetsuit and changed into dry clothes. I brought a towel, but I think it’s a good idea to bring even more clothes and towels than you think you’ll need (perhaps because it was winter)!

We were served warm drinks to help us warm up on the way back.

Even now that I’m back home, I think of that time as dreamlike. It was an experience I wanted to have at least once in my life, and it became a wonderful memory! For anyone traveling to Hawaii, I highly recommend extending your trip to the Big Island and definitely joining this tour! I will absolutely recommend it to my friends! Thank you to all the staff! When I have children and they grow up, I would love to participate again!

２月１３日に、夫婦でマンタのナイトシュノーケリングに参加させてもらいました。
今回ハワイ島を選んだ最大の理由でもあったので、とても楽しみな反面、やはり自然の生き物と言うことで、出会えるかどうかドキドキしながらの参加でした。
当日はホノコウハーバーに現地集合でした。１７時１５分チェックインとありスタンバイしていましたが、中々ガイドさんが来なくて焦りました。でもよくよく資料を見ると、スタート時間が１７時４５分と書いてあり、ちょうどその時間になると、ちゃんとガイドさんが来てくれました。
その後、ガイドさんから今からの流れの説明やウエットスーツ(レンタルで＄１０)やフィンのサイズを確認し、いざ船へ乗り込みました！
今回のボートには、日本人は私達を入れて４人、他に外国の方が４人、そしてスタッフさんでした。ガイドさんは日本人の方でしたので、安心でした！
マンタシュノーケリングは夜に行われる為、夕方から港を出発します。ちょうど夕日が沈む頃で、この日は少し曇っていましたが、晴れていたらとてもきれいなコナサンセットが見れると思います！
マンタのポイントまでは約２０分ほどかかりますが、海に出て５分もしないうちに、船長さんが「１２時の方角に鯨だ!!」と叫び、その後もう一度出て来てくれて、私達は２回も鯨を見る事が出来ました！
ポイントに着くと、他のツアーの船も既に幾つか集まっていました。
マンタが来るまで少し時間があるので、その間にマンタの生態やオス・メスの見分け方、なぜコナにマンタが集まるのかなど、ガイドさんから色々教えてもらいました。
他の、ツアーが入り始めましたが、私達のツアーは少しでも体力消耗を抑える為に、ギリギリまで船の上で待機させてもらえました。
いよいよ海に入りました。入ってすぐ、深い所でマンタの影のようなものが見えたと思った瞬間、私達の足元の方からしっかりと確認できる距離でマンタはやってきてくれました！
すると、続々と１枚２枚と増えて行き、まるで水族館の水槽にいるかのように、あちらこちらにマンタが来てくれました!!海に入って５分も経ってなかったかと思います！参加者全員がマンタに興奮していました！バク転をする様にくるっと回転しながらプランクトンを食べる姿は圧巻でした！何度か触れそうなほど近くまできてくれて、夢のような時間でした。約４０〜４５分、マンタとのシュノーケルを楽しみました。
さすがに長時間海に入っていたので、手がしびれてきて、船に上がってからは風もあり、ブルブルと震えました。すぐにウエットスーツを脱ぎ、乾いた服に着替えました。タオルも持って行きましたが、思っている以上に服やタオルは持って行ってもいいと思います(冬だったからかもしれませんが)！
暖かい飲み物を出してもらい、体を温めながら帰りました。

帰国した今でも、夢のような時間だったと思います。人生に一度は味わいたかったので、最高の思い出になりました!!
ハワイに行く方には、是非ハワイ島に足を伸ばし、是非オスメスしたいツアーです！友人にも絶対勧めます！
スタッフの皆さま、ありがとうございました！子どもができて大きくなったら、是非また参加したいです！

Thank you for allowing me to participate in the tour this time. I was glad to be able to see manta rays up close.

Since it was a meet-up tour, I drove to the meeting point. I checked the GPS and the directions to the meeting place, so I didn't get lost. However, when I arrived at the meeting spot, no one was there at the scheduled time, which made me worried. But I was relieved to see the shuttle staff and the guide in the distance, and when I approached, I realized it was our tour. I would have preferred if someone had been at the meeting point.

After receiving the tour explanation, we boarded the boat to the manta ray location. The sea was quite rough during our trip, so the boat rocked a lot. As mentioned in the tour details, it's essential for women to take motion sickness medication. Out of the five women who participated this time, three experienced seasickness.

Once we arrived at the manta spot, we actually entered the water. We spent about an hour observing manta rays, so it gets quite cold in the water. I recommend wearing a wetsuit.

As it gradually got darker, multiple manta rays began to gather and came close to us. Seeing the manta rays up close was quite impressive and moving. Schools of fish also swam nearby, which was enjoyable.

For some people, the cold and seasickness might be challenging, but there's no doubt that you'll have an incredible experience, so I definitely encourage you to participate!

現地集合ということで、レンタカーで集合場所まで。カーナビ＋集合場所までの説明を確認していたので迷うことはなかったです。ただ、定刻になっても集合場所には誰もおらず、心配していましたが、送迎組の方々とガイドさんが遠くの方にいたので近寄るとこちらのツアーだったことがわかりほっとしました。できたら集合場所には誰かいてほしかったです。
ツアーの説明をうけた後で船の乗り込みマンタの場所へ。私たちのときは海が荒れていたので船が結構揺れました。ツアーの詳細に書いてありますが、女性の方は酔い止めは必須です。今回参加した女性５名中３名が船酔いになっていました。
マンタスポットに到着して、実際に海へ。１時間くらいは海の中でマンタを観察することになるので、かなり身体が冷えます。なのでウェットスーツは着た方がいいともいました。
徐々に暗くなるとマンタが複数集まりはじめ、私たちのそばに寄ってきます。近くで観るマンタはかなりの迫力で感動しました。群れで泳いでいる魚も近くをすり抜けていくので楽しいです。
人によっては寒さと船酔いが大変かもしれませんが、感動する体験を味わえることは間違いないのでぜひ参加してみてください！

Thanks to Captain Koichiro and Guide Daisuke, who worked together seamlessly to ensure everyone had a great time, I had a wonderful experience. When I fell behind the fast-swimming dolphins, Daisuke pulled me closer underwater. On top of that, I was able to see a whale that I had given up on spotting. We participated as a retired couple. Our second trip to the Big Island had whale watching as our main goal. Although we hadn't planned on snorkeling this time, the manta ray swimming tour we saw on the website caught our attention, so we joined without much expectation. My wife was particularly anxious about snorkeling in the night sea, but by the time we returned to the hotel, she was still buzzing with excitement.

First, we were moved by the sunset from the boat at departure. We encountered a mother whale and her calf, and I was especially touched to see the mother teaching the calf how to swim. Suddenly, the mother whale breached right in front of us, and we felt incredibly lucky. The day before, we had joined a whale watching tour where we saw many whales, but we didn't witness any breaching, so this felt like a true stroke of luck.

I was already satisfied with that alone, but the highlight of the tour, meeting the manta rays, completely overshadowed the emotions from the sunset and the whales. The tour was really great. Since I have a diving license, I thought snorkeling might be a bit lacking, but it was actually wonderful.

First, we moved on a small boat. We arrived at the point in about 15 minutes and enjoyed the sunset while waiting for it to get dark. The sunset was incredibly beautiful.

Other diving and snorkeling boats gathered, and the manta ray snorkeling began. Even though it was called snorkeling, we all held a large board (with lights underneath), and the guide pulled the board to the point. It didn't require much physical effort, and we were able to snorkel easily.

As soon as we entered the water, two large manta rays came very close to us. Below, divers were shining their lights while watching the manta rays. From above, our lights illuminated the water, creating a magical atmosphere. During the snorkeling time, we were able to see manta rays the whole time, and they came so close that it was astonishing. We could see inside the manta's mouth and gills remarkably well. I think there were more than ten of them.

The tour itself was really good, but as others have mentioned, the meeting place for the tour was difficult to find. I confirmed by phone and received further explanations, but it was still unclear. This time, the staff were foreigners, and I couldn't tell who the person in charge was, so I had to search after arriving at the meeting place. It was a bit disappointing to feel anxious before snorkeling.

エントリーしてすぐ、大きい2匹のマンタがすぐ近くに来てくれました。海の下のほうでは、ダイバーさんがライトを照らしながら、マンタを見ていました。上からは、自分たちのライトが光り、幻想的な空間でした。シュノーケリング時間中、ずっとマンタが見れ、あまりにも近くに来てくれた為、びっくりするほどでした。マンタの口の中、エラ等、驚くほど、よく見れました。１０匹以上はいたと思います。

ツアーは自体は大変良かったのですが、ほかの方も書かれてるように、ツアー集合場所はわかりにくいです。電話で確認し、再度説明を受けたのですが、わかりにくかったです。今回は、スタッフさんも外人さんで、どの人が担当者かわからず、集合場所についてからも探しました。シュノーケリングの前にひやひやしてしまったことが少し残念です。

It was very moving!!!
First, on the way to Manta Bay by boat, we encountered a pod of whales and dolphins while watching the sunset!
I think it was because this is the time of year when dolphins are often seen, but I was already quite excited before even seeing the mantas☆
We were able to see the mantas up close! During about 40 minutes in the water, I think I saw them around 20 times. (I can't say how many different mantas there were since I might have seen the same ones multiple times.)
You can rent a wetsuit for an extra $10, but the sea after sunset in January was definitely cold, so it's best to rent one.
The explanations from the Japanese guide were easy to understand, and it was a fun tour.
On the way back, we were able to see a mother and baby whale illuminated by the full moon, which was very mystical♪

イルカがよく見れるこの時期だったからだと思いますが、マンタを見るまえからかなりテンションがあがりました☆
マンタもとても近くで見ることができました！４０分程度の入水で、２０回くらい見たと思います。（同じマンタを何度も見たのかもしれないので、何匹とは言えません）
プラス１０ドルでウエットスーツを借りることができるのですが、さすがに１月のサンセット後の海はつめたかったので、絶対借りた方がいいです。
日本語のガイドさんの説明も分かりやすく、楽しいツアーでした。
帰りの船でも、満月に照らされたクジラの親子を見ることができて、とても神秘的でした♪

I have participated in dolphin interaction programs in Bali and Oahu, and I decided to join this one because I really wanted to see wild dolphins. There were other tours where you could snorkel with dolphins, but I was drawn to this one because of the great reviews on this site, especially the fact that the guide would pull you along even if you couldn't swim. It was definitely the right choice! I was a bit anxious because the reviews were so overwhelmingly positive, but they were all true. It's a bit pricey, but I absolutely recommend this tour, and I want to participate again.

The guide, Daisuke, is very cheerful, friendly, and attentive, as others have mentioned in their reviews. Above all, he loves dolphins and has a strong desire for many people to swim with them. I’m not a strong swimmer, so I was pulled along by Daisuke the whole time, but thanks to him, I was able to meet a lot of dolphins. If I had just snorkeled on my own, I think I would have struggled to find where the dolphins were. Wild dolphins are truly wonderful. The way they swim freely in the ocean and the sounds they make underwater... I completely understand Daisuke's words that you never get tired of seeing them, even if you meet them every day!

And surprisingly, we got really close to a whale! This time, it just happened to be the two of us, so Captain Noda took us whale searching after we enjoyed the dolphins, and we were able to see a mother and calf whale (plus an escort). We were able to see them up close, and my mother, Daisuke, and Captain Noda were all extremely excited! Usually, with whale watching, larger boats can't maneuver well, but I think we were able to see them so closely because this boat was small and because of the captain's love for whales and his steering skills.

ガイドのダイスケさんは、他の方も体験談で書いていますが、すごく明るく親しみやすく、気配りいっぱいの方です。そして何よりイルカが大好きで、たくさんの人にイルカと泳いで欲しいという思いがあふれています。泳ぎが得意ではなかったので、終始ダイスケさんに引っ張って頂いてしまいましたが、おかげでたくさんのイルカに出会うことができました。自分でシュノーケルするだけだと、どこにイルカにいるのか見つけるのにも苦労していたと思います。やっぱり野生のイルカはすごく素敵です。自由に海の中を泳ぐ姿や、海の中のイルカの声・・・、毎日会っても毎日飽きないというダイスケさんの言葉に納得です！
そしてなんと、くじらにも大接近できました！今回はたまたま私たち２人だけだったので、キャプテンの縄田さんが、イルカを満喫したあとくじら探しをしてくれて、親子くじら（＋エスコート）に会うことができました。すごく近くで見ることができ、私も母も、ダイスケさんも縄田さんも大大大興奮！でした。よくあるホエールウォッチングだと大型船で小回りがきかないようですが、このボートが小型だったことと、キャプテンのクジラ愛と操縦テクがあったからこそ、こんなに近くで見れたのだと思います。
ここのツアーにして本当に良かったです。今度はもう少しちゃんと泳げるように練習して、自力でイルカと泳げるようになって参加したいと思います。

I chose this tour because it has received high praise in reviews and they offer guidance in Japanese. On the day we arrived on the Big Island, there was heavy rain and wind, causing other tours to be canceled. However, Captain Nawata was very accommodating, suggesting date changes and even saying he would set sail despite the slightly high waves.

In the end, we did change our schedule, but the visibility underwater was still a bit poor due to the waves. Even so, dolphins swam right up to us, and my wife was overjoyed, exclaiming, "I made eye contact with a dolphin!!" We were also able to see whales up close.

We decided to spend our honeymoon on the Big Island to participate in this tour, and it was truly a great decision. ハワイ島は到着日から凄い雨と風で他のツアーが中止になっていく中、キャプテンの縄田さんはできるだけ実施できるようにと日にちの変更を勧めて下さったり、多少高い波でも出港すると言って下さったりと本当によくして下さいました。
結局日程を変更しましたが、まだ波があったため水中は視界が少し悪い状態でした。それでもイルカが目の前まで泳いできてくれたのでしっかりと見ることもでき、妻は「イルカと目が合った！！」と大喜びでした。またイルカだけでなくクジラの姿も近くで見ることができました。
こちらのツアーに参加するためにハネムーンをハワイ島に決めましたが、本当に良かったです。
年間320日以上海に出ているというダイスケさんが「毎回違いますよ」とおっしゃっていたので、次回参加させて頂く時には視界がクリアでまた違う楽しみや喜びを感じれるのではないかと思います。
素敵な体験と出会いを本当にありがとうございました！！
