When I reached the summit of Mauna Kea, a sea of clouds spread out before me, creating a magnificent view. However, there were more clouds above, and I couldn't see the sunset. As the night sky darkened, I was disappointed because I had hoped to see a sky full of stars. But thanks to changing locations and being persistent, the clouds gradually cleared, and I was thrilled to see a sky full of stars! Next time, I will join a stargazing and sunrise tour.

マウナケア山頂に着くと雲海が一面に広がって雄大な景色。しかしその上にもさらに雲が広がりサンセットが見えなかった。暗くなった夜空にも雲がかかり、満天の星を期待していたので『ががっかり』と思っていたが、場所を変えて粘って頂いたおかげで、徐々に雲が取れて行き満天の星を見られて感激！次は星空＋サンライズツアーに参加するぞ。

The sunset and starry sky were amazing, and the tour's structure, as well as the staff's thoughtfulness and explanations, were wonderful. If I have the chance to visit the Big Island again, I would definitely like to participate again. Thank you for providing such great memories! My friend lost their phone at the summit, but I am very grateful that it was found safely.

Unfortunately, during this tour, there was a lot of gas at the summit of Mauna Kea, and we could only see Venus. However, our guide searched for a spot on the way back where we could see stars, and we were able to hear a bit about the stars.

Since it was close to a new moon, I was looking forward to using my DSLR and tripod, but this also turned out to be a good memory.

I plan to come back for a revenge tour.

The quality of the trip depends on the guide.

Thanks to the guide here, I really made some wonderful memories.

今回のツアーでは残念ながらマウナケア山頂ではガスが多く金星しか見れなかったですが、ガイドの方が帰路途中で星が見えてる場所を探して星のガイドを少しですが聞けました。
新月に近かったので一眼と三脚持参で楽しみにしてたのですが、これもこれで良い思い出になりました。

またリベンジする予定です。

I am deaf and participated with my friends, and I was very happy and greatly helped by the staff who were very considerate and kind! The summit of Mauna Kea had breathtaking views and was very moving. I was glad to see the sunset and the starry sky beautifully. I learned how to take pictures of the starry sky from the staff, and I was able to take beautiful photos, which made me the happiest.

私は聾者で友達と一緒に参加したのですがスタッフさんが色々と気遣って親切して頂いたので、とても嬉しかったし大変助かりました!!マウナケア山頂は絶景の連続で見晴らし良くてとても感動しました。サンセットも星空も綺麗に見られて良かったです。スタッフさんから星空の撮り方を教わって綺麗に撮ることも出来たので、それが１番嬉しかったです。

So many things make this the best zip line on the big island including NINE zips, the last one a tandem AND over 1100 ft long but the absolute best part was the tour guides Kalei and Kalani. In fact, Kalani was our ATV tour guide 4 years ago when we were last there. They made this a very fun adventure and encouraged my hubby who was fearful of heights; even he loved it, after the first one! Truly amazing scenery and very fun, patient, and experienced guides. Safety was definitely a priority for them but made our adventure extra special. Thank you Kalei and Kalani!!!

I was worried about the bad weather since the day before, but somehow I made it to the summit. I was moved to see a white rainbow before the sun set. Although there were many clouds, I was able to catch a glimpse of the sunset. However, on the way down, there was a snowstorm! Is this really Hawaii?! The guides desperately searched for a spot to observe the starry sky, and we descended quite a bit, but we were able to see a beautiful starry sky.

Since this tour is heavily influenced by the weather, if you expect too much, you might feel a bit unsatisfied. Next time, I want to see the sunrise.

前日から天気が悪く心配しましたが、どうにか山頂まで到着。太陽が沈む前に白い虹を見ることができ感動。雲が多かったものの、どうにかサンセットを見ることができました。ただ、下山中吹雪！これがハワイ?!って感じで。ガイドさんたちが星空観測できる場所を必死で探してくれてだいぶ下まで降りてきましたが綺麗な星空を見ることができました。
天気に左右されるツアーだけにあまり期待しすぎると物足りないかもしれません。
今度はサンライズを見てみたいな。

The garden had many varieties of plants. The zip rides were kind of short. There was also a suspension bridge we walked across. They need to add more and longer zip lines. The few seconds that we zipped across were hardly enough. The guides provided some fruit snacks from the trees as we walked between zip lines and talked about different trees. The water fall and the surrounding ranches with cows sleeping were a nice sight. Though those ranches do not belong to botanical gardens. Staff was very friendly and professional. I did not take Segway tour and chose instead to drive by myself to Hilo. Make sure to drive to Liliuokalani Park in Hilo when you are there. It was a very impressive Japanese garden design.

I participated with my husband. About eight years ago, I joined the same tour, and there was stargazing with telescopes, but that was not included this time, which disappointed my husband. I think it was due to the weather, but it would be disappointing for first-timers. The sunset was wonderful. However, it was extremely cold, so my previous experience was helpful. I think it's a good idea to bring Heattech or similar clothing.

主人と参加しました。八年前くらいに私は同じツアー二参加しましたが、望遠鏡による星空観測がありましたが、それが無くて主人はがっかりしていました。天候の関係化と思いますが、初めての人には残念だと思います。サンセットはすばらしかったです。ただものすごく寒かったので、前回の経験が役立ちました。ヒートテックなどを持っていくといいと思います。

Mauna Kea has been called the world's observatory. Nowadays, there are others, like the Hubble Space Telescope floating in space and those in Chile, South America. While in Japan, I knew there were many constellations from star charts, but I couldn't actually see them. When I went to the mountain and darkness fell, the first constellation I saw was Cassiopeia, with five stars visible at a very low position. That's right! This is Hawaii, around 20 degrees north latitude, so the circumpolar stars appear very low. The North Star is also at a height of 20 degrees, while where I live is at 35 degrees north latitude, so it appears at a height of 35 degrees. The Milky Way was clearly visible, and I was once again moved by how many stars there were. The Swan constellation was also clearly visible with the guide's explanation. On the way back in the car, looking east, I saw Orion about to rise from the mountain. The three stars in the middle were vertical to the mountain range. It is known that the three stars of Orion are at a 90-degree angle to the horizon when they rise and set, but this time, participating in this tour, I was able to confirm it for the first time. It was very cold, but there was a service for warm drinks, which was comforting.

マウナケア山は世界の天文台と呼ばれてきた。今ではその他、南米のチリや宇宙に浮いているハッブル望遠鏡もある。日本にいるときは星座早見盤では星座がたくさんあることは知っていたが、実際には見ることができなかった。山に行き、暗闇が訪れ、まず最初に見えたのが、カシオペア座、とても低い位置に5つの星が見えた。そうだ！ここはハワイ、北緯20度ぐらいだから周極性もとても低く見える。北極星も20度の高さ、わたしが住んでいるところは北緯35度だから35度高さに見える。銀河もくっきり見え、あらためて、こんなにも星があったんだ、と感動した。ハクチョウ座もｶﾞｲﾄﾞの説明で、きっちり見えた。帰りの車の中で、東の方向をみると、オリオン座が山から今にも登ろうとしていた。真ん中の三つ星が山並みと垂直になっていた。オリオン座の三つ星は、登るときと、沈む時には地平線と90度になることで知られていたが、今回、このツアーに参加して初めて、確認することができた。とても寒かったが、温かい飲み物のｻｰﾋﾞｽがあり、ほっとさせられた。

The temperature was colder than I expected but the viewing was spectacular!

We participated as a couple, and it was amazing. First of all, our guide, Mr. Konno, was great. There were 13 participants, which was the maximum capacity, but he was attentive to each person, providing explanations during the transfers, suggesting photo spots and poses, and even timing for bathroom breaks, making everyone feel like a VIP.

The tour was well-structured, with warm drinks when it got cold and cookies when we felt a bit hungry—services that really hit the spot. The only downside was that the cold weather gear could have been a bit cleaner; I wish they had washed it beforehand.

Despite the forecast predicting "90% chance of rain" that evening, we were lucky as the clouds cleared up in the afternoon. By the time we left the hotel, it was said to be "probably okay," and along the way, we saw a rainbow near a mountain, a herd of wild sheep at the foot of the mountain, a sea of clouds, the peak of Mauna Loa peeking through the clouds, a beautiful sunset, and a sky full of stars, even enjoying the red glow of Kilauea volcano.

All the tour participants were wonderful, and we had a great time together. This is a well-planned, highly recommended tour!!!

夫婦で参加しましたが、最高でした。まず、ガイドの今野さんがよかった。定員一杯の13名参加でしたが、移動途中の説明や、写真撮影のスポットやポーズ、トイレのタイミングまで、一人ひとりを気遣ってくれて、全員VIP気分になれたと思いますよ。
ツアーの構成も、寒くなったら暖かいお飲み物、小腹が空いたらクッキーと痒い所に手が届くサービスでした。
ただ一つ、防寒具がちょ～っと…、洗濯しておいて欲しかったけど…

その日は「夜は90%雨」の予報だったのに、ラッキーなことに午後からどんどん雲が流れ去って行き、ホテル出発するころには「たぶん大丈夫でしょう」とのことで、道中すぐ近くの山には虹、山麓に野生の羊さんの群れ、一面に広がる雲海、雲海から顔を覗かせるマウナロアの頂、夕焼け、そして一面の星空、そしてキラウエア火山の赤い光までも楽しむことができました。
ツアー参加者全員とても素敵なメンバーで、仲良く楽しく過ごせました。
上手にプランされた、お勧めのツアーですっ！！！

In my childhood, I often looked at the stars. It was during the times when I would get scolded by my father for being mischievous. The guides who showed us around this time had a wealth of knowledge about the stars, which was wonderful. When they asked about the participants' constellations and pointed them out, I thought, "That's clever." Thank you, Yamachan. I'm already getting older. I'm okay with becoming a star anytime, but before that, I want to go on my third star observation tour. It was a day full of charm.

少年時代は☆を良く見たものだ。それは、いたずらして父親から殴られての“☆☆”だった。
今回案内してくれた方々は、よく☆の知識が豊富でとても良かった。参加者の星座を聞きそれを指してくれるところは「ニックイね。」山ちゃんありがとう。私はもう歳です。いつ☆になってもいいですが、その前に３回目の☆観測ツアーに行きたい。そんな魅力のある日でした。

It became my best memory on the Big Island of Hawaii.

At first, it was cloudy, and I wasn't sure if I would be able to see the stars clearly, but it gradually cleared up!

I was able to see a beautiful sunset, and above all, the starry sky was amazing.

With the new moon, I was able to see the Milky Way and shooting stars, which was the best!

The guide's stories were interesting, and I was told that the photos taken with the starry sky can be downloaded from the website later.

If you're going to the Big Island, I would recommend this tour.

It became a wonderful memory.

はじめは曇っていて星がはっきり見えるか微妙でしたが、
段々晴れてきて！

夕陽も綺麗に見れたし、何より星空が素晴らしかった。

新月なのも重なり、天の川や流れ星もみる事が出来て最高でした！

ガイドさんの話も面白く、星空と撮った写真は後日、
HPからダウンロード出来るとの事。

ハワイ島に行くなら、オススメ したいツアーでした。

We participated as a family. Unfortunately, the summit was cloudy and we couldn't see the sunset, but the stars were magnificent! They used a telescope to capture the moon's craters on my smartphone, and I was very satisfied! Next time, I will go back to try to see the sunset again!

家族で参加しました。あいにく山頂は曇りで夕日は見れませんでしたが、星は満天でした！望遠鏡をつかって、月のクレーターを私のスマホで撮影してくれて、大満足！次回は夕日をリベンジしにいきます！

We participated with a total of seven people: my parents in their late 60s to early 70s, their friends, and our family. Almost everyone was riding a horse for the first time. My mother was very worried because she struggles with exercise, but the horses were very gentle and friendly, and everyone enjoyed an hour and a half of horseback riding with the biggest smiles. The scenery was magnificent, and I think it's a very rare experience to be able to ride without a lead horse, even for beginners. The cats were adorable too!

60歳後半～70歳前半の両親、その友人ご夫婦、家族の総勢7名で参加しました。
ほぼ全員乗馬は初めて。
母親は運動が苦手なのでとても心配していましたが、馬がとても人になれていておとなしく、全員最高の笑顔で1時間半の乗馬を楽しみました。
景色も雄大で、初心者でも引き馬でない乗馬が出来るのは大変貴重な体験だと思います。
ネコちゃんも可愛かったです♪

It was like a scene from Mars. (Of course, I've never been to Mars.) It was cold, but it was worth it!

まるで火星のような光景でした。（もちろん火星に行った事はありません）
寒かったですが、それだけの価値はあります！

Perhaps the timing of our visit was unfortunate. The summit was shrouded in clouds. We gave up and descended to the Onizuka Visitor Center, waiting for the weather to improve, but without seeing any clear skies, we had no choice but to return home in tears. It was supposed to have a 90% chance of clear weather, so we never expected this.

Still, the guide that day did not give up until the end and tried to show us the stars. They explained the few stars we could see and made great efforts to take creative photos.

Ten years ago, I was moved by the sunset and the star-filled sky at the summit, and I really wanted to show it to my 70-year-old mother. I wanted her to know that such a wonderful place exists in the world. I would like to try again.

山頂はブリサード。
諦めてオニヅカビジターセンターへ降り、天候回復を待ちましたが、晴れ間が見れることもなく、泣く泣く帰るしかありませんでした。
90%の晴天の確率のはずがまさかこんなことに。
それでもその日のガイドさんは最後まで諦めずに私たちに星を見せてくれようとして下さいましたし、ちょっとだけ見られた星について説明して下さったり、工夫を凝らした写真の撮影を
して下さったりととても努力して下さいました。

私は１０年前に山頂の夕日と星だらけの星空に感動して、７０歳の母にどうしても見せてあげたかった。世界にこんな素敵な場所があることを知ってほしかったのです。
また再チャレンジしたいと思います。

I chose activities that I could participate in together with my mother-in-law for our trip. Although I couldn't understand all the explanations about the sights and history in the English tour, I was glad to see landscapes that I wouldn't normally be able to experience. The waterfall was average, I think Japanese people don't swim there. The sandwich was quite delicious.

義理のお母さんと一緒の旅行のため、一緒に参加できるアクティビティを申し込みたく選びました。 英語ツアーで見所や歴史などの説明は全部は理解できませんてしたが、普段なら見ることのできないふうけいを見ることができてよかったです。滝は普通かな。日本人は泳がないとおもいます。サンドイッチはかなりおいしかったです。

The exhilaration of driving through breathtaking scenery is the best!
The hiking distance was just right, not too tough.
A 67-year-old American couple was able to walk it with ease.

However, I knew it was only in English.
During the hike, we stopped quite a bit for explanations, but we couldn't understand anything, so we felt a bit at a loss during that time.
It would definitely be more enjoyable if you could come with some English skills.

That said, the views are amazing, so that alone might be enough.
The meal with the stunning scenery was unforgettable.

車で絶景を走り抜ける爽快感は最高です！
ハイキングはキツクなくちょうどいい距離でした。
６７歳のアメリカ人のご夫婦も、余裕で歩けていました。

ただ、分かってはいたけど、英語ガイドのみ。
ハイキング途中、けっこう立ち止まり沢山説明してくれてたけど、私たちにはさっぱりわからず、その間手持無沙汰でした。
多少、英語で来たほうが、もっと楽しめるでしょう。


ただ、景色は最高なので、それだけでも十分かも。
絶景でのご飯はたまらなかったです。

It was a wonderful time, riding horses across the highlands and having photos taken against beautiful scenery.

馬に乗って高原を駆け巡ったり、きれいな景色をバックに写真をとってもらったりいたれりつくせりのひと時でした。

I had a great time with our guide Masashi, who made me feel like he was from Yoshimoto. His service spirit was exceptional, and he treated us like we were gods, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The photos he took with his expensive camera, which he mentioned he bought at Costco, were of professional quality, and I was grateful to be able to download them. I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent views of Mauna Kea and the starry sky that felt like it was going to fall down on us.

サービス精神はもちろんのこと、お客様は神様的な対応で何倍も楽しませてもらいました。
コストコで購入したという高価なカメラでの撮影はプロ級で、ありがたくダウンロードさせてもらいました。
マウナケアの雄大な景色と降ってきそうな星空を大満喫させてもらいました。

I signed up with a male friend, and we had a great time without any issues. The stargazing at 4,000 meters when the moon wasn't out was very beautiful. The tour also provided warm clothing, which was very thoughtful. I'm grateful for that.

The sunset and the starry sky were absolutely wonderful. I've never seen such a beautiful Milky Way before. It truly is the "Milky Way."

But it's cold, so don't forget your warm clothing!

The Japanese tour was fully booked, so I joined this one. There was only one Japanese participant, but the guide was very considerate and tried to understand my broken English, which made it a lot of fun.

日本語ツアーが満杯だったので、こちらに参加しました。日本人一人参加でしたがつたない英語を理解しようとガイドさんが気遣ってくれてとても楽しかったです。

For our 25th wedding anniversary, we visited the Big Island for the first time! On August 29th, the sunset and stargazing from the summit of Mauna Kea exceeded all our expectations. When the shadow of the Earth rose above the summit right after sunset, it was so mystical that it gave me goosebumps. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

8月29日。マウナケア山頂のサンセットも星空も予想をはるかに超える素晴らしさに感激でしたが、サンセット直後の地球の影がマウナケア山頂の上に浮かび上がった時は、その神秘さに鳥肌が立つ思いでした。

Last year, I participated in a horseback riding tour that went up Waipi'o Valley, so this year I joined a tour that explored the valley below, and the lower course was definitely more fun!
In particular, crossing a river that was about waist-deep on the horse, with my feet lifted up in the stirrups, was truly thrilling and enjoyable.
I have a British-style riding license, but I found Western riding to be very enjoyable as well.
The staff brought a lot of organic fruits like avocados and starfruit to share with us.
The horses were well-trained, so I felt safe while riding.
They were all very well-behaved horses.
I highly recommend it!!

去年はワイピオ渓谷を登っていく乗馬ツアーに参加したので、今年は渓谷の下を散策するツアーに参加しましたが、下のコースの方が断然楽しいです！
特に、馬の腰ぐらいまである深さの川を、足を鐙ごと上にあげて川を渡ったのは本当にスリリングで楽しかったです。
ブリティッシュスタイルのライセンスを持っている私ですが、ウエスタン乗りも非常に楽しかったです。
スタッフがアボガドやスターフルーツなどオーガニックフルーツをたくさん採ってきて振舞ってくれます。
お馬も良く調教されてるから、安心してライディングできました。
おりこうなお馬ばかりでした。
とてもおススメです！！

My wife rode a horse for the first time, and it was so much fun riding through Waipi'o Valley that her worries before getting on the horse seemed like a lie.

嫁は初めて馬に乗りましたが、馬に乗る前の心配が嘘のように、楽しくワイピオ渓谷を馬に乗って楽しめました。

My daughter and I really enjoyed horseback riding through Waipio Valley. Just be warned that if it is the dry sesson, you won't see any waterfalls. We did see lots of water though in addition to taro fields, wild horses and plenty of beautiful scenery. Our guides, Dava and Robert were entertaining, yet professional. I highly recommend this tour, as many people try to hike down into the valley and don't get far. Then they have to walk back up that very steep road! One warning. Do wear long pants or some sort of insect repellant. We were told there were no mosquitos but my daughter and I both returned with lots of bites.

It's hard to see the starry sky in urban areas of Japan, but I was glad to be able to see it while being shown various constellations and the Milky Way. I was worried about getting altitude sickness at a higher elevation than Mount Fuji, but I was completely fine. The sunset over the sea of clouds was also beautiful. On the way down the mountain, I was able to see a white rainbow as well.

日本の市街地ではなかなか星空を見ることができませんが、銀河やいろんな星座を指し示してもらいながら見られて良かったです。富士山より高い標高で高山病になりはしないかと心配しましたが、全然大丈夫でした。雲海に沈む太陽も良かったです。山から下りて行く途中で白い虹も見ることができました。

It was a day close to the new moon, but thin clouds covered the sky. Still, I was able to see the Milky Way. The guides, Mr. Yamamoto and Mr. Matsuzaki, were lively in their storytelling, which allowed us to relax and enjoy the experience throughout. The thin air made it a bit tough, but I managed as long as I stayed still. The sunset was truly fiery, and I thought to myself, is this what heaven is like?

The thermal suit was great. I'm sensitive to the cold, so I wore a sweater and bought a hot pack at the Onizuka Center. Thanks to this thermal suit, I was able to observe the starry sky at a higher altitude than other tours, but on this day, the view was clearer when we descended to the Onizuka Center due to the clouds. Still, since all tours watch the sunset from the summit, I think wearing the suit was the right choice.

せっかく新月に近い日でしたが、薄い雲がかかってしまいました。それでも天の川は見えました。ガイドの山本さんと松崎さんのお話も軽快で、終始リラックスして楽しむことができました。酸素が薄くて少し辛かったですが、じっとしていればなんとかしのげました。夕焼けはまさに燃える様で、天国ってこんなところかしらと思いました。
つなぎの防寒着は良かったです。私は寒がりなので、セーターも着て、オニヅカセンターでホッカイロも一枚買いました。この防寒着のおかげで他のツアーより高い所で星空観測できるそうですが、この日は雲に左右されたので、オニヅカセンターに降りてきたときのほうがきれいに見えました。それでも、夕日はどのツアーも頂上で観るので、つなぎは正解だと思いました。
