This was purchased as a birthday gift for my sister. She has always been fascinated by volcanoes and it's been her lifelong dream to come to the island and see the volcano for herself. She was incredibly excited to have this tour. However, the day before it was scheduled, she received a call and was told that there had been a mistake when recording her reservation and they no longer had room for her on her scheduled date. They offered to move her reservation to a different day or to schedule her for the same day as her initial reservation for instead for the Epic Circle Island Volcano Journey. She chose to keep her originally scheduled day and do the Epic Circle Island Volcano Journey.

The woman who called was very apologetic and kind, let's face it, humans make mistakes sometimes, we've all done it. They did their very best to make it right. In the end, my sister said her experience was incredible and she was glad there had been a little bit of a mix up, because she thought the tour she went on was better (granted, that is based purely on the description of the originally scheduled tour).

Her guide was knowledgeable and told all kinds of stories about Pele and the island and recounted the history of the volcano. The lava tube they visited was unique and interesting and fascinated her.

Overall, it was a huge win and even in spite of the little problem I would definitely book again!

I participated in the 2.5-hour course in the morning. The weather was great, and I had a wonderful time overlooking Maui. Along the way, I encountered wild pigs. My saddle loosened, and I fell off the horse, but that too is a good memory. There were 10 participants in total, including two Japanese families and a foreign mother and daughter, as well as a solo participant.

The reason for meeting on-site was that it overlapped with other options we considered. The navigation system we borrowed kept saying to turn left onto a narrow forest road after entering Waipio! It looked like a path overgrown with grass. Since I had gone another route before, I ignored it and went through the town to the valley. (On the way back, it also instructed a right turn onto a suspicious forest road.) After that, once we got closer to the valley, we followed the signs and turned right to reach Artworks. Please be careful not to be misled by the navigation. The reception starts at 9 AM, so if you arrive early, there won't be any staff around, just the shopkeepers. There is road construction on the way here, causing traffic jams, but in the afternoon, it might take 10 to 15 minutes longer than in the morning (the worst is in the evening). They mentioned the construction would last for two years. It's not too serious, so there's no need to rush.

The horses had various personalities, which was interesting. Sometimes the English was fast, making it hard to catch everything, but we managed. The explanations were natural, especially about the trees, but they weren't very detailed, so I wondered if it would be more enjoyable with a Japanese guide, as my daughter, who is nearly native-level, remarked. Along the way, we crossed a small stream and encountered wild horses, making for a relaxed horseback riding experience. There's no need to worry. Just keep in mind that since you'll be on the horse for a long time, those with weak hips might find it uncomfortable later. Also, the helmet we borrowed could really use some Febreze! (laughs) Since it's a nature-filled activity, it's understandable. (laughs) Bring only the bare essentials. Also, it's better to avoid wearing new sneakers. We enjoyed a recommended lunch on the way back, making good use of our time.

現地集合にした理由は他のオプションで立ち寄ったところとかぶってしまうのでこれにしました。うちでお借りしたナビがワイピオに入ってから狭い林道に左折と言うのです！どう見ても草ぼうぼうで道？と言う感じ。一度別のオプションで行ったことがあるので、無視して町の中を通って渓谷へ行きました。（帰りも怪しい林道へ右折と指示）あとは渓谷近くなってから標識に従い右折していくとアートワークスへ行けました。皆さんはナビに惑わされないように進んでください。受付は９時からですので前についても係りの人がおらず、お店の方だけでした。ここヘ行く途中道路工事で渋滞していますが、午前よりは午後が１０から１５分かかるときがあります（ひどいのは夕方ですが）。工事は２年と言っていました。あまり大したことがないのであせらないでくだいね。
馬もいろいろな性格があって面白かったです。英語がはやくて聞き取れないこともありましたが、なんとかなりました。説明は自然、とりわけ樹木とかですが大した説明でないので、日本語ガイドさんだったらもっと楽しいのかな。とネイティブ並みの娘が呟いておりました。途中小川を横断したり野生の馬に出会ったり、のんびりした感じの乗馬です。心配はいりません。ただ馬にまたがるので、股関節が弱い方は長い時間なのであとでお辛くなるかな。それから、お借りしたヘルメットがファブリーズしてー！と言いたくなるほど。（泣）自然満喫アクティビティなんだから仕方ないですね。（笑）荷物は本当に最小限に。また運動靴は新しいのは避けたほうがいいですね。帰りにお勧めランチをしながら帰りました。時間を有効に使えて楽しかったです。

I participated in May, and the weather was great, making it a lot of fun. The horses were a bit young and sometimes didn’t listen, but it wasn't a problem; if I pulled the reins a bit harder, they would respond. The puppies walking alongside the horses were adorable, and all the participants enjoyed themselves. Riding was fun too, but getting to the horses involved a steep slope, and we went down a cliff with four horses, which was thrilling.

The entire tour was in English, but I managed to get by by observing the people around me. I was a bit nervous because it was more expensive than I had imagined, but once it started, it was so much fun!

Regarding the itinerary, we started with the zip line. Since there wasn't much time to change, it's best to participate in swimwear or clothes that can get wet. We moved on to lunch without a break. Then we went trekking and cave exploring. We ended up waist-deep in water, but this wasn't mentioned by Veltra, so we couldn't go further and had to give up. After that, we headed to the waterfall. The water was cold, but the foreigners were swimming vigorously.

There are no places or time to change during this itinerary, so if you want to participate, I think it's best to prepare accordingly from your hotel.

Guide was informative and friendly. On time performance and tour went well beyond what I thought was included in the days activities. Great to look at the stars through the telescope and have explanation of the skies (for a novice like me). Ride up and back to the summit of Mauna Kea was bumpy at times and a little daunting but not nearly as difficult as some made it out to be. Elevation did not bother me.

The only issues I had were that you don’t really get close to the waterfalls they are way off in the distance and while the guides were very knowledgeable about the area you couldn’t really hear what they were saying unless you were in the front or back of the line. Other then that we enjoyed everything else

I'd spend the money again in a heartbeat They matched all of us to horses according to our skill level, so that even I didn't feel like I was just on a pony ride (I've been on horseback many many times) We even got to see the resident heard of wild horses! Best afternoon spent in a LONG time

I was a bit anxious about getting to the meeting place by rental car, but with Google Maps, it was fine. Some people arrived a little late, but we waited cheerfully while chatting with the guide and everyone else. Before the tour started, we enjoyed eating naturally grown bananas and macadamia nuts while chatting. I don't speak English particularly well, but the horses are smart, so I had no worries. The guide was also a bright and fun person, making it the best memory of my trip.

This was my first time horseback riding. We drove down to the Waipi'o Valley from the meeting point in a car driven by our guide, received a horseback riding lecture, and the guide selected horses that suited each of us. From there, we rode on our own.

At first, I was anxious, but the horses are well-trained, so while there were a few minor scuffles between them, they didn't act out in any significant way. This activity allows you to enjoy the scenery and horseback riding at a walking pace, so if you're looking to gallop, you might find it lacking.

The guide uses Japanese for words like "danger" and "single file," but explanations about the scenery and plants are in English, so if you prefer those explanations in Japanese, I recommend looking for another company.

I was able to see some precious landscapes, so I would love to participate in this activity again the next time I visit the Big Island.

This was my second horseback riding experience on the Big Island, and I really wanted to go to Waipi'o Valley, so I joined my husband. I have some riding experience, so I had no problem with that, but there were eight people max, and everyone except us was from Europe or America. It was disappointing that I couldn't understand the guide's explanations about the plants. We had fun crossing streams and taking pictures in the valley's scenery. Crossing the river was thrilling, but we only walked the whole time. There was no fast walking or trotting. For that kind of riding, it seems better to go to a ranch. If you want to go to Waipi'o Valley on your own, it looks like the only option is to walk down a steep slope like the ones in Hakone, so I recommend joining a tour.

２回目のハワイ島での乗馬、どうしてもワイピオ渓谷に行きたくて夫と参加しました。私は乗馬の経験があるので乗ること自体は問題ないのですが、人数も8人Maxで私たち以外は欧米の方、ガイドの方が植物の説明などしてくださるのが全く分からず残念でした。渓流の中を渡ったり、渓谷の景色の中写真を撮ってくださったり、楽しかったです。川を渡るのはドキドキしましたが、終始歩くのみ。速足、駆足はありません。そういう乗馬は牧場のほうがよさそうです。自分でワイピオ渓谷に行くには、箱根の山のもっと傾斜のきつい坂を歩いて下っていくしかなさそうなので、ツアーの参加がおすすめです。

We went as a family of four with our two high school daughters. We chose this tour because it was a bit cheaper than the Japanese guide, but everyone else in the group was foreign and spoke fast English. However, the couple guiding us, Shiso and Tracy, were very attentive and engaged with us, mixing in a little Japanese to explain the horseback riding instructions. Our daughters had no problems and enjoyed horseback riding. It was a great experience to explore the Waipi'o Valley on horseback, something we wouldn't have been able to do on our own.

It's like a jungle! What an amazing first impression. You can slowly enjoy the magnificent nature of Waipi'o while being gently rocked on a horse. It was my first time horseback riding, but the horse was smart and guided me on its own, so I felt safe. It was truly a unique place on the Big Island of Hawaii. That's a sight you have to experience in person. If you want to experience nature and cleanse your spirit, I highly recommend you go!

There were so many highlights to this trip: excellent veggie lasagne, watched a beautiful sunset from above the clouds, and telescope star gazing. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

My 9-year-old daughter is learning horseback riding, and we wanted to let her experience it in nature, so our family of four participated.

On the day of the event, we drove there with a rental car and were able to find the meeting point easily using Google Maps. After signing a liability waiver and a short bathroom break, we set off.

We went down to the valley in a large 4WD vehicle, which was really thrilling and fun! There was a Japanese guide from another tour with us, and it was great to hear the explanations together. The guide talked about the plants around us, but since there were about ten of us in a line, there were times when it was hard to hear the guide's voice. A friendly dog that was close to the horses also joined us, which was very cute.

The ladies at the small souvenir shop at the meeting point were very nice, and we chatted with them a bit. We rode for about an hour and a half, which made our backsides sore, but we also experienced some rain, walked through a river, and it was quite challenging to control the horses as they kept eating grass.

At one point, I got too close to the horse in front of me, and my horse almost bolted, which was a bit scary. If you're worried, it might be a good idea to get travel insurance, as horses are living creatures and anything can happen.

Overall, I think it was a very valuable experience. You can't see that kind of nature in Japan. The children made wonderful memories.

9歳の娘が乗馬を習っていて、大自然の中で乗せたくて、家族4人で参加しました。
当日はレンタカーで行きましたが、Google Mapsで集合場所にちゃんと行けました。
自己責任のサインをして、少しトイレタイムがあってから出発でした。
谷まで4WDの大きな車で降りるのですが、すごくスリリングで面白かった！
他のツアーの日本語ガイドさんが一緒で、一緒に説明を聞けて良かったです。
回りに生えている植物について説明してくれましたが、総勢10人位で1列になって進むので、ガイドさんの声が聞き取りずらい時もありましたが。馬たちと仲良しの犬も付いてきて、とても可愛かったです。
集合場所にある小さいお土産屋さんのおばさん達がとても感じがよくて、色々お話をしました。
全部で1時間半くらい乗馬してるので、お尻が痛くなりましたが、途中、雨も降ったり、川の中を歩いたり、馬たちが草を食べるのでなかなかコントロールが難しかったです。
途中、私は前の馬と近づき過ぎて、私の馬が暴走しそうになり、少しヒヤッとしました。
心配な方は旅行保険に入った方がいいかも知れません。馬は生き物なので、何があるかわかりませんので。
全体にはとても貴重な体験だと思います。日本で、あの大自然は見られません。
子供たちにすてきな思い出ができました

We went to Hawaii to celebrate my parents' 60th birthday. Since we were in Hawaii, I wanted to do something truly Hawaiian, so I signed up for this tour. Neither my parents nor I had any experience with horseback riding, and we were very worried before getting on the horses, but the moment I mounted the horse, all my anxiety disappeared, and I felt excited. For about an hour and a half, we enjoyed a leisurely ride, listening to the sound of the hooves and breathing in the fresh air of nature. My parents said that this horseback riding experience was the highlight of our time on the Big Island.

The tour was conducted entirely in English, so everyone except us were foreign participants. Even if you don't speak any Japanese, the guides communicate in broken Japanese, saying things like "stand" and "danger," so I don't think you need to worry too much.

Also, it takes about 25 minutes to travel from the meeting point to the riding area by wagon. I saw some comments mentioning that the travel time was long, but that's because we slowly descended the steepest slope in the U.S., and the guide explained the scenery we could see from the window, making it not boring at all; in fact, it was fresh, adventurous, and fun!

It was also more affordable than Japanese tours, and I was very satisfied!

せっかくハワイ島に来たからには、ハワイらしいことがしたいと思い、こちらのツアーを申込みました。
僕も両親も、乗馬の経験は皆無で、乗る前までは非常に心配していましたが、馬にまたがった瞬間、これまでの不安は消え去り、ワクワクした気持ちになりました。そこから約1時間半、のんびり馬にまたがりながら、蹄のコツコツという音と、大自然の新鮮な空気を吸いながら過ごす時間は最高のものでした。両親も、この乗馬がハワイ島で一番のハイライトだと言っていました。
ツアー自体は全て英語で行われるため、ぼくたち以外は皆外国人の参加者でした。全く日本語が出来なくても、カタコトの日本語で「立って」や、「あぶない」など言ってくれるので、そんなに心配は要らないと思います。
また、集合場所から馬乗り場まではワゴンで25分ほど移動します。移動時間が長いというコメントもお見かけしましたが、それは全米1の急斜面をゆっくり下るためと、ガイドが車窓から見える景色を説明してくれているからであって、全く退屈せず、むしろ新鮮でアドベンチャラスで楽しかったです！
日本語のツアーよりもお値ごろでしたし、大満足です！！

I couldn't do fast walking or running, so it felt a bit lacking for someone with riding experience. When I asked the staff on site, they told me that if I go towards Kohala, there are spacious fields where I can ride.

速足・駆け足は出来ないので乗馬経験者にとっては少々物足らない感じでした。現場スタッフに聞いたらコハラの方に行くと広々としたフィールドなので出来ると教えて貰いました。

Captain Jack Kona Sport Fishing Charter (from Keauhou Bay)

My cousin and I have gone out on fishing with Capt Jack 4 times over the last 4 years. We have caught fish on each trip. The trip we took last week was a blast. 1st we
spent about a 1/2 hour catching bait.Then we used the bait to catch 9 small (10 -15 lb) yellow fin tuna and a mahi mahi on live bait. At least twice we each had a fish on at the same time. Then the 1st mate took out the big rods and we looked for bigger fish. We caught about 20 lb ono. If you like fishing, head out the Mark on Captain Jack out of Keauhuou Bay, you can start catching fish at the mouth of the harbor. Mark and his first mate always provide helpful guidance to the ladies. We took 5 one gallon baggies of fish home. Great job Capt Mark.

Mauna Kea Summit Sunset & Stargazing Tour with Dinner - Hawaii Forest & Trail

First off The Two outstanding parts to this tour was Jeff; The Tour Guide and The Stars. Tour Guide Jeff, detailed intellect to the stars was fun and educational without being obnoxious. Felt very fortunate to have him as our guide. Even though the clouds didn’t corporate fully that evening the Sunset was astounding even at nine thousand foot elevation.
The Rudeness of One Local Park Ranger that evening was disappointing to witness by all in the group. He made a big deal to our Tour Guide to move the company van by honking his horn repeatedly when all he had to do was ask politely Not Nice. The other disappointment was The Gift Shop closing very early and while they were closing the gift shop personnel Didn’t allow access to the Restroom for the many guess that were present at the time. Gift shop took about 15 minutes to close up shop and during that time could’ve allowed access to Restrooms. Thank You Jeff !!! for saving our visit
