We had a great time at Island Breeze. The location is excellent and the weather was perfect when we were there (April). The Mai Tai's were perfect and so was the food. Gotta try the poi!! Before the show started there was several interactive demonstrations that were fun. The show itself explained well the history and varied cultural influences of the Hawaiian islands. Overall a great evening.

We enjoyed the show, and the MC was really funny and had a good voice. Before it started we ended up waiting in several different areas for them to set up. The cups for the drinks were too small, even for water and soda. I can understand having small cups for the alcohol, but it was difficult to drink enough water. It would have been more comfortable with the tables and chairs set up on the grass, instead of sitting on concrete (too hot!)Also, a bigger selection of vegetarian options would be good. Overall, as first timers to the Island, we really enjoyed the show. Thanks!

This was our first trip to Hawaii, and we thought the luau was a great value! The food was great, and since our room looked over the luau area, we got to see the pig being put in the imu pit early in the day, and then experienced how great it tasted hours later!
Unfortunately our luau was rained out just as the show started, and though we got a raincheck for the show, we had another event planned for luau nights and could only come late into the show. I think we missed a good portion of the fire dancers as we only saw one guy. What we did see was great though!
I'd definitely do it again.

The host was great and very informative of the Hawiian and Polynesian cultures. We loved the costumes and how the dancers interacted with the guest. We upgraded our tickets and ended up sitting in the very front row. WoW! We could not have had a better time.

Since I came all the way to Hawaii, I wanted to have at least one dinner that truly felt like Hawaii, so I participated in this show. There was a bit of a wait from check-in to entry, but once we were shown to our seats, there were various activities prepared one after another, and I was able to enjoy myself to the fullest without getting bored. Next to us was a group of grandparents in their mid-80s who were college friends, and we had a great time chatting with them. The food was a spread of local Hawaiian dishes, and what I thought would be just a little bit ended up filling my plate completely, leaving me quite full. As for the dancing, several young women and men performed dances from various countries, and it was very impressive. It turned out to be a memorable night!

This is the best luau i have ever been! Not only is it very affordable but the host is very informative on the cultures of the hawaiians and the other polynesian tribes. My best friend and I had soo much fun in this luau and plus we are amazed at the fire show that they put on. We were very overwhelmingly satisfied w/ the amount of food that they serve (about 20 diff kinds of hawaiian dishes)not to mention the 2 hours open bar! I had too much mai tais w/in two hours! This is a great luau to go to for first timers or as regulars.

The luau staff were great, but we wish the hotel staff at the lobby were more helpful. We were out of cash to pay $3 for the parking, and all nearby ATM's were down. We asked the lobby staff to accept a credit card payment, but they would not budge. Finally one person in the Luau staff (Dan, I believe) helped us out (bless his heart!). So even though the activity was great, the ending was somewhat rocky.

I was late for the meeting time, so I was guided to my seat first, but then I went back to get a lei and a flower tattoo. Since it was a buffet, I was able to eat a lot of my favorite foods, but personally, I wanted to eat even more (laughs). While I was in the restroom, the show started, and I missed the Tahitian dance, which was the one I wanted to see the most, so I was really disappointed. The same performers danced various regional dances, which provided a different kind of enjoyment compared to PCC. Since I could see it up close, I carefully observed one dancer to study the dance. If PCC is a show to enjoy the overall impact, I think the show here allows for more detailed observation. It might be great for those who are seeing Hawaiian cuisine and dance for the first time.

The content of the luau show was all in English, and there were parts I understood and parts I didn't, but the atmosphere was fantastic and I had a great time.
The ratio of Japanese people was low. We sat at a long table, and the food was served buffet-style. The staff seemed to be considerate and seated us next to a Japanese couple. They mentioned that they had been to Hawaii many times, and thanks to them, we received helpful tips about convenient places near our accommodation.
Before entering the venue, they took our pictures, and during the meal, they asked, "How about purchasing?"
Regarding the photos, I had been searching for them for a while and felt that the reviews weren't very good, but when I saw the actual photos, they were beautifully taken, so I decided to purchase one as a keepsake.
The other guests, upon realizing we were on our honeymoon, were very friendly, and we were able to chat a little in English, which was enjoyable.
The dancing was powerful and interesting, and the food was delicious!
I think if you have language skills, you could enjoy it even more!

I attended a Christmas luau with my elementary school child. In the morning at the hotel, I tried to reserve a Hanohano seat (which costs $8 for adults), but it was sold out. However, I was told that if we lined up on the left side of the coastal path, between around 4:20 and 4:30 PM (the gathering time was at 4:45), we could get good seats. This way, we ended up right behind the Hanohano seats in front of the stage. Upon entry, we received a shell lei for free. Mai Tais and beers were unlimited. After enjoying making fish out of tattoos and palm leaves, we watched the Kalua pig being brought out and the king entering from the sea, followed by our meal time (which included Hawaiian foods like poi and haupia, and we were full). The show featured dances from Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti, and a fire dance from Samoa (which the kids loved!).
It was interactive, with hula dancing, shouting greetings from each country loudly, and even doing lomi lomi massages with the person next to you, which was a lot of fun. There were few Japanese people, and the family next to us was from Portland, but we got along well. Let's enjoy together with the foreigners!

It was my first time on the Big Island of Hawaii. I absolutely wanted to experience a luau! I thought it might be a bit different from Oahu, so I joined this tour. It was more packed than I expected, and I wanted to experience various things, so the time flew by.
First, he bought me a fresh lei for a commemorative photo! (Even if you don't buy one, everyone receives a shell lei.) When we were shown to our seats, the men immediately got up to grab drinks from the drink bar. In the meantime, I greeted the people at the same table. Then we headed to the plaza where various events were happening. First, I got a tattoo-style painting on my arm. I requested my favorite honu (sea turtle)! I also joined a hula lesson that had already started nearby. They quickly taught us the choreography for one song. I learned how to crack a coconut and did some weaving with lauhala (though I wasn't participating, so I don't know what was being made). Then they showed us the kalua pig, which is the main dish for dinner (a whole pig cooked underground).
There was never a dull moment! As the sun began to set, a canoe carrying Kamehameha arrived from the shore. This marked the beginning of the show. When I returned to my seat to get food, various dances from different countries were performed on stage.
I was able to chat with a newlywed couple from California at my table, and it was a very enjoyable evening.

On the first day of my arrival, I went to the show. I felt like it started before I really understood what was happening, probably because I'm not used to English, but I was quite moved by the appearance of the king. I was able to experience a ceremonial hula that you can't find in other dinner shows. Everyone there was very friendly, but since I couldn't speak English, I could only manage polite smiles. It seems that having better English skills is necessary to enjoy it more. As for the food... well, it was just average. I was happy to drink a lot of Kona coffee, though.

When you go to Hawaii, you definitely have to enjoy a dance show! However, it can feel a bit lonely if you don't understand English. The host will show you where to sit. After that, it would be a waste to just sit there not knowing what to do! You can go get a free drink and enjoy it, or before the show, you can learn how to open coconuts, get a tattoo, make angel fish from palm leaves, and learn hula dancing at two different stations. Even if you don't understand English, it's better to get up and explore rather than just sitting around.
The buffet-style meal is also guided to your table, so you just have to wait! The food is delicious, and it seems like it was tailored to suit Japanese tastes! It's really tasty! The dancing is fun, and the scent of the ocean and the sound of the waves are refreshing, which made me feel great.
However, it was a bit disappointing that it rained in Kona, which is quite rare!

The hula dance was great. It made me want to learn how to dance. The food was also delicious, with flavors suited for Japanese tastes. I thought it was generous that cocktails and other drinks were all-you-can-drink. A unique space completely different from the glamorous dinner shows in urban areas... You can enjoy a relaxed luau and buffet at an outdoor venue full of mood, backed by the Huehue Heiau floating in Kamakahonu Bay in front of the King Kamehameha Hotel.
After a welcome with a shell lei (fresh flower lei for an additional $4) and a commemorative photo, you can enjoy drinks and take your seats. The entertainment begins with body painting and the Coconut Man, followed by the unearthing of the imu (the roasted pig) and the royal court entrance ceremony... There's over an hour of fun before the meal^^
Once you return to your seats, the buffet starts. Since seating is organized by table, there's no crowding, and the food is replenished continuously, allowing you to savor all the dishes. All drinks are free, and you can order at the drink stand. There were fruit punch, cola, Sprite, beer, red and white wine, and Mai Tai. The Mai Tai here is light on rum, making it very easy to drink and highly recommended♪
As your stomach is pleasantly filled and the sun begins to set, the main show starts. With the MC's sweet singing voice and introductions to the history of Big Island interspersed, there are hula, Polynesian, Hawaiian cowboy, tribal dances, and fire dances, all unfolding in a powerful display on a small stage. The Coconut Man also joins the dancers, adding jokes to the diverse program, which is understandable given that it was fully booked even on a weekday (Thursday).
For those with small children (and those who are impatient), I recommend reserving the front-row HANOHANO seats to get to the buffet quickly, as the wait for food can be long and everything is conducted in English. Reservations can be made at the hotel luau desk on the day (before entry). (On weekdays, it's $10 for adults and $8 for children.)
I participated on the night of my arrival on the Big Island, and despite the busy departure from Japan, flight fatigue, and a bit of jet lag, I was able to relax and unwind.
This time, thanks to ALAN's "It's expensive! Alan-chan (lowest price guarantee)," the adult participation fee was changed from $65 to $60!
