I've participated in luaus multiple times, and in just two hours, you can learn about Hawaii's history through an engaging show. An elderly American couple from the mainland celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary and came on a commemorative trip with their daughter and her husband. The husband raised his hand to report this to the host, and everyone congratulated them—typical of America! But I think there were only about two other Japanese couples besides us? We forgot that we were foreigners (laughs).

Aha Aina Royal Hawaiian Luau - Waikiki Oceanfront Luau Dinner Show

Had a great time at the Royal Hawaiian luau this week. It was much more than simply hula dancing and a fire show. The performances were short acts telling the story of the Hawaiian culture and history through song and dance. I could feel the passion for Hawaii in the host of the evening as he was setting the scene for each act. Interestingly, he was one of the actors in the original Hawaii 5.0!

Before the show started, it was fun to learn and actually see the process of how Hawaiian people made the material for their clothing. It was actually made of out sticks!

Food was plentiful and tasty with lots of variety. Highly recommended experience. The setting was beautiful on the lawn with the beach and an amazing view of Diamond Head in the background. A very special evening!

This was a simply breathtaking afternoon. Oahu is extremely varied, with cliffs, valleys and beaches, alternating between shades of blue, green, white and red. You don't really notice it from the ground, but seeing it all from high above has given me a new appreciation for the island. Our pilot made us feel safe and secure the entire time, and the chance to do an exciting landing along a narrow ridge at the top of Ka'a'awa Valley only made the experience that much more incredible.

What a wonderful evening. Perfect location, beach front right at the heart of Waikiki, with a beautiful views from Diamond Head. The Royal Hawaiian Hotel is the most tradition hotel in Waikiki, the staff is very friendly and always ready to help you.
Before the dinner and the show start you can learn more about Hawaiian traditions. The buffet has a big variety of dishes and the food was very tasty. The drinks were very good too.
The storytelling of the show is very interesting they talk about Hawaiian history starting when the first Polynesians arrived, passing by the Royalty time and until it became the 50th state. The dancers and the singers are fantastic!
Great evening under the starts, good food and friends. I would definitely come back again and I I recommend Aha Aina Luau to everybody!

Great experience overall, from the ground crew to the flight. This is definitely thee best way to see the island and the best option if you are staying on the West Side of the island / Ko Olina resorts.

The pilot is very experienced, polite and knowledgeable. The flight was very exciting and gave us an amazing sights of the island. Even if you don't get a window seat you still get a great view. The aircraft have a two way communication between the pilot and the guest, so while he is talking storied about the location you can ask questions and he will answer.
Oahu is just an wonderful place, we saw Hanauma Bay; Diamond Head; Waikiki beach; Pearl Harbor; the unique Kaneohe bay and the sandbar; the mountains at Kualoa Ranch are mesmerizing, makes you feel like you are at Jurassic Park; the famous beaches on the North Shore, Kaena Point and the beautiful West Coast.
If you have the chance add the land on top of Kualoa Ranch mountains, the pilot surprised us with champagne, drinks and chocolate covered strawberries. Very romantic addition to the tour.
It's a long flight, make sure to bring a bottle of water and got to the bathroom before the flight.

I would recommend Paradise Helicopters to everybody!

I made a reservation for George Fazio through VELTRA, but for some reason, I ended up playing Arnold Palmer. The price remained the same, and while it may not be thanks to VELTRA, I really feel lucky. America is quite laid-back. I find that relaxed vibe very appealing.

I have previously done a Circle Island tour on a "big bus" with lots of other people, and I can say with absolute confidence and conviction that a customised tour is the only way to go!! We saw exactly what we wanted to see; stayed as long as we wanted to stay; and had lunch where we chose (North Shore Food Trucks). Moe, our driver, was fantastic: we mapped out the day with what we wanted to see and he made sure we got to see everything we wanted to. Moe was polite, courteous (opening and closing car doors), informative, friendly, chatty and had plenty of cold bottled on hand for us throughout the day. Highly recommend.

3 hour tour before departure back to the mainland

Car was on time but itinerary outlined the day before with the Veltra rep was not communicated to the driver. The first stop was Diamond Head overlook. Car wouldn't start when we were ready to leave. Apparently we were out of gas. Had to wait > 30 min for someone to bring a gallon of gas. We then had to find a gas station to finish filling the car with fuel. The gas station was not on out agreed upon route. Driver was born / raised on the island and once we navigated the car issues there were some interesting facts he shared with us. It was so unfortunate the fuel issue ruined what could have been the bow on what was a great visit to Hawaii.

If I had it to do over....

We had two days and one night in Oahu. We mainly went to see Pearl Harbor. Decided the best use of our time was a customized circle island tour. Pros - on time, clean van, pleasant driver. Cons - Spent the first 15 minutes debating whether or not we had paid for a full day tour vs half day. Resolved. In advance, we reviewed the standard circle island tours offered, researched each stop, made a list of what was of most interest to us and presented that to the driver when he asked what we wanted to see. He interjected his opinion (and I think preferences), skipped over things we wanted to see, somewhat criticized our choices by saying the Byodo-In Temple was a tourist trap, wasted our time on a hike to see a waterfall at a garden and then insisted we needed to stay on time and had us turn around about 5 minutes from reaching the waterfall to leave. In hind sight, we should have just walked the streets of Waikiki. Probably could have gotten a better tour out of a taxi service.

Honolulu Airplane Flight School Lesson & Scenic Sightseeing Tour

My husband and I did the 1 hour single engine tour. My husband sat up front for the lesson and I sat in the back. Our first thought was that he would get to steer a little bit and get to ask some questions and we'd get a nice private island tour. Nope! He got to take off, fly around the island and even land all by himself. Granted, the instructor was right by his side the whole time, guiding him, telling him where to fly, adjusting things for him along the way and answering any questions he had.

Massa (may be spelled incorrectly) was our flight instructor. He was great! He knew alot about the local area and had over 24 years of flying experience here on Oahu. He exceeded our expectations. After the flight, they gave my husband a nice little certificate.

The reception lady that took care of us before the flight and after was very kind. She helped us with the paperwork before the flight and greeted us with Japanese tea after. The experience was pricey but if we ever get the money to do it again we would.

I went with three people, and when my two friends stepped away, the people around me kindly spoke to me. Everyone was considerate of me being alone, and it turned into a fun dining experience. The stage was amazing! The food and drinks were excellent! It was a bit pricey, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

We decided to get a SUV from HNL to Waikiki and chose Veltra as our booking agent. The prices looked good and we made our booking. Dealing with Veltra on the phone was excellent when we had to notify of the time change for our arrival from Kahului. Nothing was too difficult for them.
The driver was on time and his friendly nature made the journey really good. He provided some commentary about Waikiki and offered us tips and tricks for a successful stay in Honolulu. Overall the service from both Veltra and Limo service was exceptional. I highly recommend them both.

We had a few hours to spend on Oahu between the time we left our cruise ship and our mid-afternoon airplane departure, so of course we set up our tour through Platinum Limousine Service. We had previously experienced a wonderful one day tour, but there were still sights to see. Pua picked my husband and me up from the cruise ship dock on time in a Cadillac Escalade, perfect for our luggage, too. We love these Escalades, because they allow a higher vantage point while driving around the island. Pua asked us where we had been, and then quickly mapped out a tour for a few hours of sights we hadn't seen. We saw different picturesque views of Diamond Head and Waikiki, and drove into the crater. We drove the perimeter of Diamond Head, seeing the lighthouse and stopped at scenic overlooks while Pua explained films that had been made there, or history about the area. She took us to see two different blowholes on the east coast, and the beautiful town of Kailua -- our favorite on Oahu. At Pua's suggestion, we ate lunch at Buzz's, across from the beautiful beach in Kailua, and it was delicious! I have never tasted such a wonderful squid steak, and our lunches were perfect. We drove along the coastline and then across the island to the airport, stopping at the Nu'uanu/Pali Lookout over the tunnel through the mountain, where the winds blow in a famous updraft that will take your hat off your head if you aren't paying attention, but which has gorgeous views of the island and the ocean beyond. Pua was an excellent guide, and knows the history of her island and willingly shares information on local customs and traditions. She is fun and personable. If you have a few hours or a day, set up a trip with Platinum Limousine Service. You won't be sorry.

We were met at baggage claim and whisked to our vehicle waiting at the second island not too far away. We were in the vehicle and on our way in less than five minutes. Just as I have used Platinum to take me from the airport to my hotel, I also have used them for years to return me to the airport following my stay in Paradise. And, as always, their car is always on time with an extremely professional driver and newer clean car. You cannot ask for anything more! Your ride to the airport is hassle free without having to make many stops to pick up other passengers at various hotels around Waikiki in a van or bus. It's a great service that I will continue to use each time I visit the Islands.

We built in a layover on Oahu on our way from Lihue to Hilo, reserving a car and driver to get a quick overview of the major highlights in and around Honolulu. Your driver, Keith, was amazing. Within a few minutes of meeting us at the airport, he had designed an extensive tour around Diamond Head, along the coast, a fantastic poke lunch, a trip through the mountains back into Honolulu, the Punchbowl, and back to the airport in time for our flight to Hilo. He was conversational and informative; someone with whom it was a real joy to spend the afternoon. Thank you for providing us with a fantastic day, and thanks to Keith for hitting it out of the park. An absolute home run!

I have been using Platinum Limousine Service for many years. It is so very nice to have a clean car and courteous driver waiting for you to take you to your hotel after a very long day of flying. Although it may cost more than the shuttle services, it is well worth the added expense when you want to begin your stay in Paradise!
