We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, and it was both of our first times experiencing parasailing. The meeting point was a bit unclear, and our ride didn't arrive on time, which made for a rather anxious start. The bus driver hardly spoke any Japanese.

However, once we boarded the boat and set off, two handsome staff members provided explanations in simple Japanese, which really lifted our spirits and made the experience enjoyable.

I had researched beforehand that they offered to take photos for $30, so I asked them right before we started, and they provided the data on an SD card. When we checked after returning home, we found over 100 photos, which became wonderful memories. Unfortunately, due to the splashes from the waves, there were some water droplets on the lens.

It's essential to take motion sickness medication, as the boat sways quite a bit.

The food was delicious, and the seating was right in front, which made me very satisfied! I had such a fun time. The lively atmosphere felt very much like being abroad, and I was really glad I came to Hawaii. The welcome drink was tasty, and I could choose between alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. The fruit platter was cute, and everything was enjoyable from start to finish. The main dish, lobster, and the seasoning of the meat were just right, and I finished it all (laughs). It might have been a bit too much for Japanese people, but I was able to eat slowly, which was really nice. The show was loud, almost full, and even without understanding English, I enjoyed just watching it. I definitely want to make a reservation again next time! They also took photos for us, which became a memorable keepsake. Other Japanese guests seemed to be having a great time too, and since the location is facing Kalakaua Avenue, it was easy to find. I felt that the atmosphere is really important. Time flew by quickly. The Hawaiian vibe, the excitement of being abroad, and the food all resulted in complete satisfaction! I thought I might not need the photos, but it’s nice to have something tangible to remember it by. We could also take videos and photos, which made for fun memories!

The roads are unpaved in nature, so my face got covered in dust from the dirt (^_^;) If you want to avoid that, it might be a good idea to bring something to cover your face, like a bandana or mask.

Riding through the magnificent scenery was the best and felt amazing!

During my first trip to Hawaii, I wanted to fulfill my wife's wish to participate in an activity that was introduced on a certain TV program, which was both shocking and exciting! I personally am not very good with heights, and I usually can't handle fast rides or anything that involves falling, so I had some anxiety. However, the staff were friendly and took safety seriously, which allowed me to trust them.

Taking that first step to jump was scary, but the speed wasn't too intense, and once I got to see the breathtaking views, I felt completely fine! Since the staff communicated entirely in English, it was a bit challenging for us to understand with our limited English skills, but it was very reassuring that some Japanese participants in our team provided additional explanations.

I would love to participate again if I have the chance!

We also saw sea turtles, and the actual snorkeling experience was amazing with so many fish. It was the best tour! No need to worry about language at all! Sunscreen is a must! ☀️☀️☀️ The guide was also a funny person and kept us entertained during the boat ride.

A landslide occurred a few days before our participation, which resulted in the trekking route to Manoa Falls being closed, so we ended up trekking at the nearby Lyon Arboretum.

As it is a botanical garden, the paths were well-maintained and easy to walk on. We arrived at the waterfall in about 40 minutes while listening to our guide share stories about Hawaii's history. Although it wasn't a large waterfall, we were lucky that the rain from the previous day had increased the water flow a bit.

There were many plants I had never seen before, and I stopped to take photos... during which I got bitten by mosquitoes. Even with insect repellent spray, it seems like it's better not to stay still.

After trekking, we drove to Kaimana Farm Cafe for lunch. The portion sizes were just right, and the food was very delicious.

参加の数日前に地滑りが発生してマノア滝がへのトレッキングルートが閉鎖されてしまったため、すぐお隣の Lyon Arboretum のトレッキングとなりました。
植物園ということだけあって、道はよく整備されていて、歩きやすかったです。

見たことのない植物ばかりで足を止めては写真を撮り・・・その間に蚊に刺されました。虫除けスプレーはかけても刺されるようなので、じっとしない方が良さそうです。
トレッキングの後は車で移動してカイマナ・ファーム・カフェでランチ。量もちょうどよく、とても美味しかったです。

The bus was fully booked for departure. It’s quite popular, after all.

At first, it was difficult to find the sea turtles, but thanks to the guide's advice, I was able to see quite a few once I got the hang of it.

As for the main sandbar, it didn’t appear at all because it was out of sync with the low tide. (Even in shallow areas, the water level was about waist-high.)

Since it’s nature, there’s nothing that can be done about it, but I was a bit disappointed because I had imagined something like the pictures.

I was torn between a traditional luau in the suburbs and this one, but I decided on the Rock-a-Hula show because it was within walking distance from the hotel and there was no need for bus transportation, plus the promotional price was tempting. I'm really glad I chose this one. First of all, the food was delicious! Unlike other dishes I've had in Hawaii, the seasoning was not too strong, just right, and although it was luxurious and plentiful, it wasn't greasy at all, so I finished it all quickly. There were also Japanese staff members in the hall who frequently checked in on us, which made me feel at ease. The content of the hula show was a great mix of traditional elements and some well-known songs from a bit earlier, so the time flew by without getting boring. The impersonators of Michael and Elvis were also very talented and entertaining. While some might say the show was short, I felt satisfied with the rich content. I first visited in November 2017 and returned again in October 2018. This time, things seemed different; it looked like the number of cast members had significantly decreased. Even after huffing and puffing up the stairs to the slide, I encountered closed signs (crying). This happened frequently, which made it hard to enjoy myself. The morning pickup was also about 30 minutes late, and I felt that the price for four and a half hours was a bit high. It was disappointing that the children's slide was closed as well.

Overall, it was disappointing.

2017年11月に初めて来て、今回2018年10月に再び訪れました。初回とは様子が変わっていて、キャストがかなり人数が減っているみたいで、スライダーの階段をはーはー言って登ってもクローズの看板(泣)そんな事がしばしばあって楽しめませんでした。朝のピックアップも30分程遅れてくるし、4時間半でこの値段は高いかな？と思う内容でした。子供用スライダーもクローズで残念でした。

However, due to the impact of a recent typhoon, I had to cross a small river to get to the area where the horses could run. It was supposed to be a guided tour with a Japanese guide, but the bus guide only spoke Japanese for jokes and didn't inform us about when to get off or the order of disembarking, so I almost missed my stop. The boat staff were good, but unfortunately, the weather was bad and it was cold on the ground. It might be better to check the tide times before booking.

I love the ocean and swim with sharks in Hawaii was on my bucket list. To celebrate my 78th birthday, my daughter decided to take me on this amazing shark cage diving tour. What a great experience! We saw a lot of different species of sharks, they are amazing animals. The crew was really nice and made us feel safe during the entire process. I had been interested in parasailing for a while, and experiencing it in Hawaii was just perfect. So, I went for it. My partner, who is my wife, doesn't like heights, so I participated alone.

In my group (at 4:00 PM), all 10 other participants were foreigners. From the pickup to the return to the hotel, everything was in English ONLY. There are staff who understand Japanese on-site, so if you’re not comfortable with English, it might be a good idea to let them know in advance. That said, I’m not that fluent either, but I actually enjoyed interacting with the cheerful guide, so it was fun in its own way.

It may vary by day, but on the day I went, the boat was quite rocky (especially the waves were a bit intimidating when leaving the bay), so those who are sensitive to motion sickness should be cautious.

On the boat, there was a laid-back and cheerful captain along with two crew members. They played upbeat music, danced, and told jokes, making for a cruise filled with laughter. However, the safety instructions were clear and easy to understand, all in English, but there weren't any complicated procedures, so it was manageable.

Originally, it seems you can't fly solo, but since everyone else was participating in pairs, I ended up flying solo. They assess the wind and wave conditions to ensure safety, so it seems casual but is actually quite responsible (which is to be expected, of course).

This time, I took the 150-meter course, and when I went up, it was higher than I had imagined! Up in the air, I was surprised by how quiet it was, as I couldn't hear the boat's engine anymore. I could see the entire Diamond Head, the round horizon, and the high-rise hotels of Honolulu along with the white sandy beaches in the distance. The long-awaited aerial stroll while only hearing the sound of the wind was amazing.

As expected, I was dropped into the water at the end and high-fived everyone while returning to the dock. The ride back to the hotel, listening to the cheerful driver’s rapid-fire talk, was also enjoyable, making for a very satisfying experience.

Overall, from the hotel pickup to the return, it takes about 2 hours, so if you have any free time, I highly recommend giving it a try!

・・・ということで、行ってまいりました。相方のカミさんは、高いのはダメなので、一人参加でした。
私の参加したグループ（16:00）は私以外の10名全て外人。送迎からホテル帰着まで、全て英語ONLYでした。現地には日本語わかるスタッフが居るので、英語ダメな方は、事前に伝えておいたほうが良いかも知れません。とは言え私もそんなに堪能なわけではないですが、陽気なガイドさんとのやり取りを、かえって楽しめた部分もあるので、それはそれで面白いと思いますが。
日によるとは思いますが、私の行った日はかなり船が揺れた（特に湾から出るちょっとビビるくらいの高さの波でした）ので、船に弱い方は要注意と思います。
船でもは、いい感じにいい加減(？)な乗りの良い陽気な船長とクルー2名が対乗船。ノリの良い音楽をかけて踊りながらJokeを飛ばし、終始笑いの絶えない、クルーズでした。とは言え、安全に係る説明や指示は、的確にわかりやすく、説明はすべて英語ですが、そんなに難しい手順があるわけでもなく、まあなんとかなります。
本来はSOLO(1人)では飛ばせないようなのですが、生憎皆さんペアでの参加でしたので、結局SOLOで飛部事になりました。きちんと風や揺れの状況見て判断するから大丈夫と、このあたりもいい加減なようで、きちんとしてます（まあ当たり前ですが (笑)）
今回は高さ150mのコースでしたが、上がってみると、想像していたより高い！上空では船のエンジン音も聞こえなくなり、静かなことに驚きます。遠くにダイアモンドヘッドの全景、丸い水平線、ホノルルの高層ホテル群や白い砂浜を遠望し、風の音だけを聞きながらの念願の空中散歩は最高でした。
お約束で最後に水に落とされ、皆とハイタッチしながら寄港。
また、陽気なドライバーさんのマシンガントークを聞きながらのホテルまでの帰り道も楽しく、大満足な体験ができました。
TOTALではホテルでのピックアップから帰るまで、2時間程度になりますので、少しでも時間が空けられる方は、ぜひ一度お試しください。

It was my first experience with parasailing. The scenery was, of course, beautiful, and I enjoyed it throughout the cruise. Even though I took motion sickness medication, I started to feel a bit nauseous towards the end, so I think it's best for those who are anxious to definitely take the medication beforehand. For those traveling to Hawaii, it's an easy activity to participate in, and I would recommend it to friends who are interested in parasailing. One thing that I found a bit unsatisfactory was that the price was the same even without transportation. They also firmly requested a tip in broken Japanese.
