Overall the tour was well organised and professional. However due to low visibility from low cloud and rain, the helicopter part of the tour was cancelled and refunded. Since the hotel pick up was 6am, we had already flown to the big island before that decision was made, therefore the package became just an expensive day trip bus ride. We would have preferred to cancel the whole trip if we had known the helicopter portion was not gonig ahead, althought that is the decison of the pilots.
The bus tour and guide was very good and knowleldgeable and could not fault what we did experience.

This was a great trip to go on. The check-in went smooth and the staff were friendly. The ocean was rough but the boat was so stable that I did not even get sea sick. While we were not able to go snorkeling because of this, we saw a whale and lots of dolphins! The morning sunshine made for a beautiful backdrop to the Waianae coastline. Ocean Joy is environmentally friendly to the dolphins and we normally would get to snorkel- just not with the dolphins since it disturbs them.

Our photographer gave everyone a 50% discount on our normally $40 photo package and the photos turned out great! We appreciated the treatment of the crew and everyone had fun even though we did not snorkel. Drinks and lunch were served and everything was tasty. I had fun and look forward to going with this crew again someday. Thanks to Veltra for a smooth confirmation process. It could not have been easier to book a fun outing.

Had so much fun at this show and the good was great!

I took my mother who uses a wheelchair. The ship had elevators, and we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast while experiencing a graceful cruise. Of course, we were able to see whales multiple times, and I am very satisfied.

車椅子利用の母を連れていきました。船内にはエレベーターもあり、ゆったりと朝食をいただきながら優雅なクルーズを楽しめました。
もちろんクジラも複数回見ることができ、満足しています。

I went during the May holiday. I checked the tide chart in advance and aimed to book on the day with the lowest tide during my stay. While riding the boat from the harbor to the point, I could see the sandbars, but unfortunately, by the time we arrived, the tide had come in.

Still, we were blessed with good weather, and the white sand, combined with the blue sky, created a beautiful scenery. On the way to the point, we also saw many turtles.

It's important to choose a day and time with good conditions; otherwise, it will just be a shallow area. I recommend checking the tide chart in advance.

5月の連休に行きました。潮見表で事前に滞在期間の中でも最も潮の引いている日を狙って申し込みました。ハーバーからボートに乗り、ポイントに向かっているときには砂洲が見えていましたが、残念ながら到着したときには潮が被ってしまいました。
それでも天気に恵まれ白い砂が透けて青空と相まって美しい景色が広がりました。途中ポイントに向かう前に亀もたくさん見れました。
コンディションの良い日と時間を選んで行かないと、ただの浅瀬になってしまいますので事前に潮見表での確認をお勧めします。

It's the sea in January, and as mentioned in other experiences, it’s quite cold. I brought plenty of warm clothing, and that was the right choice. There were efforts to make the tour enjoyable, but the satisfaction really varies greatly depending on the conditions of the day. Personally, I found the Kayama Island tour in Ishigaki Island to have prettier corals and fish.

１月の海ですが、他の体験談にもある通り結構寒いです。
防寒着いっぱい用意してもっていきましたが正解でした。
ツアーを楽しませようという工夫はありましたが、やっぱり当日の
コンディションで満足度は大きく変わりますね。
個人的には石垣島のカヤマ島ツアーの方がサンゴも魚も綺麗でした。

This is my second time going to Oahu but was traveling with friends who have never gone. One was really interested in whale watching so we saw links for the Honi Olani Catamaran Sail and decided to try this one out. We're super glad we did because this was such a great tour!

The staff are extremely friendly and they provide such a great experience. The first time we went, we didn't see any whales but that may have been because of the strong waves and number of boats sailing around which might have scared them away.
Regardless of seeing whales, the cruise was awesome. It was really nice to be able to feel the sun on the catamaran and have a nice beverage while we enjoyed the weather. The tour was nice to give us a free voucher to ride again to see if we can spot whales the second time and we did! We ended up seeing a mother whale teaching her male calf how to breach!

I would definitely cruise again with this crew when I come back to Oahu. Mahalo for the great experience guys

We got to see several whales and got some great pictures of breaches and blows. I was skeptical but was very happily surprised and would do it again next time I'm in Hawaii!

I participated in the tour from the morning. As it's called the "Heavenly Sea," the water was beautiful and great for photos. However, since it was winter in Hawaii, the water was unfortunately cold. Also, snorkeling was included, but due to the continuous rain, the water was murky, and I couldn't see many fish.

朝からのツアーで参加しました。
天国の海とゆうだけあって、水は綺麗で写真映えしました。
ただハワイも冬だったので、水が冷たかったのが残念です。
またシュノーケルがついていましたが、連日の雨で水が濁っていて、魚などがあまり見えませんでした。

The crew was very cheerful, and I never felt bored even when participating alone. I did suffer a bit from seasickness due to strong winds that threatened the event, but joining the tour was definitely the right choice. If you're participating in January, I strongly recommend bringing a thick windbreaker, as just renting a wetsuit for a fee won't be enough to prevent freezing on the boat after the first snorkeling session. Additionally, motion sickness medication is essential, especially for children.

クルー皆さんが非常に陽気で、ひとりで参加しても退屈することはありませんでした。開催が危ぶまれるほどの強風の影響で多少船酔いに苦しみましたが、ツアーに参加したことは正解でした。１月参加の場合は、有料のウェットスーツを借りたぐらいでは、１回目にシュノーケリングした後に船上で凍える羽目になるので、厚手のウインドブレーカー等を持参することを強くおすすめします。加えて酔い止めの薬は必須です。（特にお子様）

This was the first tour we took on our first trip to Hawaii in April of 2016. It was absolutely amazing. We had a good time on the Star of Honolulu except it was rather windy that day. Had a blast, regardless! There were several whale sightings but, not close enough to see them which was disappointing. The breakfast was fantastic. We spent time walking about the ship taking some wonderful photos. We would definitely book another cruise when we return again.

This was the first tour I took on my first trip to Hawaii. It was absolutely amazing.

It was January, winter, with low temperatures and strong winds, along with occasional rain. It was just cold. When it rained like a downpour, it was a hellish scene. Nothing was enjoyable. I wasted both time and money. I should have researched the timing and weather properly. I recommend making reservations on-site based on the weather.

However, I have set a goal to definitely seek revenge on my next trip to Hawaii.

時期が1月と言う冬で、気温が低めでかつ天気は強風&時々雨。
とにかく寒い。スコールみたいに降った時は地獄絵図でした。
何も楽しくなかったです。時間とお金を無駄に浪費しました。
時期と天気はしっかり調べるべきでした。
天気を判断して、現地で予約をオススメします。

しかし次回のハワイは絶対リベンジしようと目標は決めれました。

I saw the whales' spouts and backs, but I felt a bit of a gap compared to the image I had in mind. However, considering it was a morning cruise off Waikiki, I think it was still quite enjoyable.

クジラの潮吹きや背中は見えましたが、イメージしてるクジラの姿とは少しギャップを感じました。ただ、朝のワイキキ沖クルーズと思えば十分アリかなと思います。

The overall cruise was extremely disappointing because throughout the entire cruise we saw a single whale spout either 4 or 5 times as it exhaled and a brief cloud of mist was observable for about 2 seconds. Because the spouts were so brief, I only actually saw 2 of them. However, technically, we did see a whale and were not eligible for a free re-booking.
I don't blame Star of Honolulu for the lack of whales - they are wild animals! But, I did expect more from them and am disappointed that seeing mist from a whale for a total of less than 20 seconds in a multi-hour cruise at least 100 yards away is considered a whale sighting.
Other than the lack of seeing whales - which was the entire point of going on the cruise! - the cruise itself is actually pretty good. The employees were very friendly, the food was better than expected (bring your own coffee though), and the views of Oahu from the ocean are gorgeous.
The ship is a bit dated and worn around the edges, but it was clean and offered a lot of indoor and outdoor viewing options. Because there are 4 decks, I never felt like it was crowded even though there were a lot of people on board.

During this trip to Hawaii, I enjoyed snorkeling for the first time and, feeling adventurous, I booked this tour online while I was there. As mentioned in other people's experiences, we had a great time with our cheerful guide (a Japanese woman). We were able to spot sea turtles multiple times. The main area, the ocean of heaven, had water up to my waist, but it was shallow enough to walk, so it was fine. There were mostly newlyweds, and since the guide was taking pictures for them, my husband and I also had some taken. There were comments about the sandwiches being meager, so I’ll post a photo. American sandwiches are usually like that, but they were filling and delicious. I would like to join again, aiming for low tide.

今回のハワイ旅行で、初めてスノーケリングを楽しみ、調子に乗って、現地でネットで今回のツアーを申し込みました。
他の方の体験談にもあった通り陽気なガイドさん(日本人女性)に乗せられて、楽しく過ごせました。
ウミガメも何回も目撃に成功しました。
メインの天国の海は腰まで水があったのですが、歩けるくらいでしたので、良しとすべきでしょう。
ほとんど新婚さんで、ガイドさんに写真を撮ってもらっていたので、私たち夫婦も負けずに撮ってもらいました。
サンドイッチが貧相だったという意見もあったので、写真を投稿します。アメリカのサンドイッチはあんなもんですが、ボリューム満点で美味しかったですよ。
また干潮をねらって参加したいと思います。

There were nearly 40 participants in the early morning tour, which felt quite large. The pick-up time was perfect. We received explanations in Japanese from a very friendly staff member, and upon arriving at the port, we received rental gear and changed into wetsuits. About 10% of the participants were foreigners, with the majority being Japanese.

As soon as the boat set off, the staff introduced themselves, and we encountered dolphins! However, in a good way, we were not allowed to touch or chase the dolphins. It was more about observing the pod swimming from the water.

When there are many people from other tours nearby, it creates a significant number of humans spread out in the water, making it hard for the dolphins to come close. While this is understandable, I felt that for those who are satisfied, it could be a very rare experience. Honestly, I couldn't shake the feeling of swimming closely with the dolphins as I had imagined. Perhaps my expectations were too high. If you want that experience, a private tour might be necessary, as nearly 40 people felt like too many. While it might be necessary for efficiency, I wished for a smaller group to approach the dolphins without startling them.

We dove twice, and during the first dive to get close to the dolphins, we spent about 30 minutes in the water, which left many women feeling quite groggy. There were many beginners in snorkeling, so I recommend taking motion sickness medication or purchasing and wearing a motion sickness band. There were quite a few people on the boat who looked exhausted, so please make sure to prepare adequately for warmth.

早起きの部で、合計４０名近くでのツアー参加者が居ましたがこれがとっても多いんじゃないかなと感じました。。
送迎時間はピッタリ。とても気さくなスタッフさんから日本語で説明を受け、港に着いたらレンタルグッズをもらいウェットスーツに着替えます。海外の方は１割程度とほぼ日本人。。
船が出向してすぐにスタッフさんの自己紹介を終えるとイルカに遭遇！！

ただし、良い意味でイルカには触ってはいけないし追いかけてもいけません！！あくでもイルカの群れが泳いでいるのをこちらも海中から覗き見るという感じです。

なので他のツアーの方などが近くにいると相当な数の人間が海に広がっているのでイルカもなかなか近寄ってくれません。当然といえば当然かもですが。。。
それでも満足な方であれば非常に稀有な経験ができると思いましたが、正直想像していたよりも近くで泳ぐイルカと一緒に泳げている感覚にはなれませんでした。
ちょっと期待値が高すぎたかなと。それを望むならプライベートツアーじゃないと無理かもしれませんが、４０名近くはさすがに多すぎるように思いました。効率を考えると仕方ないかもしれませんが、本当にイルカを驚かせないように近づいてもらうためにはもっと少人数のツアーだとよかったなと感じました。
２回ダイブするのですが、１回目のイルカに近寄るダイブで３０分くらい海に浸かっているのでこの時点で相当数な女性がグロッキー状態になっておりました。シュノーケリング初心者の方が多かったそうですが、酔い止め薬を飲んでおいたり酔い止めバンドを購入して装着しておくことをお勧めしますよ。船上でもはいてる方やぐったりしている方は多かったので、防寒対策もしっかりとご準備ください。

I was nervous about whether we would actually get to see it, but we were able to see it clearly, and the kids were thrilled! Even if we hadn't seen it, I felt that cruising would have been enough, so I'm really glad we participated.

実際に見れるかドキドキでしたが、しっかりと見ることができて子供も大喜びでした！
見れなくてもクルージングできればいっかという感じでしたので本当に参加して良かったです。

Saw the chief in 1985 at PCC. Loved his wit & charm then. So glad he has come so far. Still as great as ever. Was touched by the couples dancing & Make a Wish kids. Would recommend this smaller luau to everyone!!

At Japanese pools, you usually have to wait in long lines to enjoy the slides, but here the park isn't too large and it wasn't crowded, so we were able to play one after another right after the park opened. Be careful with the high slides, as you have to carry your own float to the entrance and climb up from the bottom.

This time, I chose a BBQ plan because I wanted to take advantage of the free perks, but I think the entry ticket with transportation is sufficient if you don't use the perks. In fact, we didn't use the soft drinks. That said, the free perks were very helpful, and the park was fun, so I was satisfied.

日本のプールのスライダーは長蛇の列に並ばないと遊べませんが、ここは園内もそこまで広くないですし混雑もしてなかったので開園直後から次から次に遊ぶことができました。高いところにあるスライダーはふもとでその浮き輪を自分たちで持って入り口まで登らないといけないのでご注意を。
今回無料特典を利用したかったのでBBQ付のプランにしましたが、特典利用無しなら送迎付き入場券で十分だと思います。実際ソフトドリンクは利用しませんでした。とはいえ無料特典は大変助かりましたし園も面白かったので満足です。

I participated with my friend's family, and as we got closer to the area, we were able to see the spouts several times. However, since we were only able to see the spouts from quite a distance, the kids started saying it was "boring."

Just when I thought we probably wouldn't see any jumps like those in the photos, the whales put on a fantastic show.

We were able to see all the whale behaviors listed on the ship, and we were very satisfied. Both the kids and the parents were thrilled to finish the tour. I know that since they are living creatures, it might not be like this every time.

友人家族と参加しましたが、ポイント付近に近づくとすぐに潮吹きが何度もみれました。
しかし、かなり離れたところからたまに上がる潮吹きを見ていただけなので、子供たちが「つまらない」と言い始めてしまいました。

あぁ、写真で見られるようなジャンプとかはなかなか見られないんだなと思っていたら、クジラの大サービスが始まりました。

船内に書いてあるクジラの行動パターンはすべてみられる事が出来て大満足です。
子供たちも親も大興奮でツアーを終えることが出来ました。
相手は生き物なので毎回こうはいかないと思いますが。

I didn't see any whales, sea turtles, or dolphins at all. I would appreciate some further explanation regarding the inability to see whales. I believe there was only audio recording, and there were no special announcements. They were distributing tickets for reboarding the next day to those who wanted them, but I couldn't use them due to other plans. Although there is a policy that refunds are not available, I think it would be nice to have some consideration, such as a souvenir, in case we didn't see anything.

クジラもウミガメイルカももいっさい何も見れませんでした。
クジラが見れないことについて何かもう少し解説などあればと思います。
録音の音声だけで、特別なアナウンスはなかったと思います。
翌日再乗船できるチケットを希望者に配布していましたが、他の予定もあるので利用できませんでした。
返金はできないという規定ですが、見れなかった場合には記念品などの配慮があってもよいのではと思いました。

- First of all, on the morning of the event, a Japanese staff member made a morning call to our hotel room to inform us again about the meeting time and place, and I was pleasantly surprised by their attentive service.

- The guidance and advice during the bus ride were also excellent and showed a high level of professionalism! They provided important safety tips for being in the ocean (like avoiding contact with sea turtles due to potential fines and bacteria) and suggested not to sleep during certain hours to avoid seasickness, which was very considerate and reassuring. Announcements were made in both English and Japanese, so even those who are not confident in English can feel at ease.

- Once we boarded the boat, the hospitality of the crew was absolutely amazing! They struck a perfect balance between giving us space and being cheerful and engaging, while also being incredibly attentive and considerate. I believe it's rare to find such high-quality service even in various customer service settings within Japan. (I somehow became a fan, and honestly, I wasn't that interested in dolphins or the ocean, but since returning home, I've been following Dolphin & You's Instagram constantly.)

- We were lucky enough to encounter a pod of spinner dolphins right away! Also, it was my first time snorkeling, but it wasn't too difficult.

- Even if you don't see dolphins, you'll definitely leave satisfied with the crew's dance performances on the boat, activities like the water trampoline and air slide, and the delicious burgers grilled right there on the spot.

- By the way, I have a terrible tendency to get seasick, so unfortunately, I couldn't stay in the water for long and spent more time on the boat, but I still had a great time. I had the burger after getting back to the hotel when it was cold, but it was still fantastic! It's one of the best burgers I've ever had in Hawaii. The buns are purple, which is surprising, but they taste great without any weirdness (laughs).

・まず、当日の朝、日本人スタッフの方がホテルの部屋に、改めて集合時間や集合場所を知らせるモーニングコールをしてくださって、丁寧な仕事に良い意味でびっくり

・移動のバスの中での案内やアドバイスもプロファッショナリティを感じる素晴らしいものでした！海の中での注意（罰金を取られるしバクテリアもいるから海亀には接触禁止、とか）や、船酔いになりやすくなるから出来れば移動中◯時〜◯時は眠らない方が良いですよ、とかも凄く丁寧だし安心感が持てます。英語と日本語両方でアナウンスがあるので英語に自信がなくても安心。

・いよいよ船に乗り込んでからのクルーの皆さんのホスピタリティが素晴らし過ぎて！ほどよく放っておいて下さって陽気に接してくださるのですが、実は気配り目配り気遣いがすごい！日本国内のあらゆる接客サービスでもこれだけのものはなかなかないと思えるほど。（なんだかファンになってしまって、正直そこまでイルカや海に興味がなかったのに、帰国してからドルフィン&ユーのインスタずっとフォローしてます）

・ハシナガイルカの群れにも運良くすぐに出会えました！また、初シュノーケリングでしたがそんなに難しくなかったです

・たとえイルカを見られなかったとしても、船上でのクルーのダンスや、水上トランポリン&エアースライダーなどのアクティビティ、その場でグリルして焼く絶品のバーガーなど、絶対満足して帰れます。

・ちなみに私はひどい「波酔い」体質で、残念ながら長く海にはいっていられず、船の上にいる時間が長かったのですが、それでも楽しめました。バーガーも船を降りてホテルに帰ってから冷めたのを頂いたのですがそれでも絶品！ハワイで食べたバーガーの中で1、2を争う美味しさです。バンズが紫色でびっくりしますがクセもなく美味しいです（笑）

We were told that going to Hawaii we had to go to a luau and we were not disappointed at all! The staff at chiefs luau were absolutely amazing, the food was fantastic but the overall experience is something we'll never forget. Thank you so much for a one of a kind and magical experience. I don't have enough good things to say, just do it!!

We didn't pay for the meal, instead we ate ahead of time. We had a nice time. Saw some whales, but not very close. Still it was worth the price for a morning out on the ocean.

Unfortunately, I couldn't see any whales. However, the weather was nice and the waves were calm, so the breeze felt pleasant. I was satisfied with the view of Waikiki and Diamond Head from offshore.

I made a reservation because I wanted to swim with dolphins! However, unfortunately, the weather was cloudy... ( ´･ω･) I was worried about whether I could swim with the dolphins, but I was able to swim with them for just a moment!!! I was also able to swim with turtles, which was great! There were plenty of activities like a hula dance show and BBQ, and the crew members were cheerful and made it a lot of fun!

We spotted a whale a little offshore!! The captain quickly turned the boat, and we were able to see it multiple times. I was particularly moved by the sight of two whales swimming together, following the boat's stern.

少し沖に出た所でくじら発見!!　船長さんが機転をきかして船は旋回し、何度も何度も見ることができました。特に船の船尾を二頭揃って追尾して泳ぐ姿には感動した。

After about a 30-minute voyage from the port to offshore Waikiki, the whale watching began. For the first 30 minutes, there were no whales in sight at all. After that, we spotted tails and spouts about five times, with intervals of 5 to 15 minutes. Although we didn't see any spectacular jumps, we were able to see the whales.

The view of the hotels in Waikiki and Diamond Head from offshore is truly breathtaking. The curry rice for lunch was very Japanese, and while the variety was limited, the other dishes were delicious as well. The waves offshore Waikiki weren't high, but since we slowed down to drift between the waves while searching for whales, some people did experience seasickness.

港からワイキキ沖まで30分ほど航海して、クジラウォッチングが始まります。最初の30分ほどはまったくクジラが見当たりませんでした。その後、5分から15分間隔で、尾ひれや潮吹きが5回ほど見られました。豪快にジャンプをするところはありませんでしたが、なんとかクジラを見ることができました。
沖合いから見るワイキキのホテルやダイアモンドヘッドは本当に絶景です。ランチのカレーライスも日本的で、品数は少ないですが他の料理も美味しいです。ワイキキ沖は波は高くありませんが、クジラを見つけるのに速度を落として波間を漂うので、船酔いする人もいました。

I was disappointed that I couldn't see any whales. It seems that the other people on the same tour also only caught a glimpse, but couldn't see them clearly. The view of the beach and Diamond Head from the sea is beautiful, so I think it's a good tour for first-time visitors to Hawaii. However, for those who have been there multiple times, it might feel a bit lacking.

同じツアーの方も、見えたかも？ぐらいでハッキリとは見えなかったようです。
ビーチやダイヤモンドヘッドを海から見る景色は良いので、ハワイに初めて行く人にはいいツアーだと思います。
何度も行っている人には物足りないと思いました。
