It's a fulfilling experience that includes visiting mysterious places and enjoying snorkeling. The tour guide was knowledgeable and shared many interesting stories, which made it enjoyable. I was surprised to see a Hawaiian monk seal in the shallow waters, something you rarely encounter. At Kaneana Cave, I captured an unprecedented number of orbs in my photos. Having lunch while looking at the deep blue sea felt extraordinary and luxurious.

This was my first time in Hawaii, and I chose this tour to experience the great outdoors. I was completely satisfied with the various power spots, mystical caves, and snorkeling at a beach with no tourists. It was a tour that I’m glad I went on.

This was my fifth time in Hawaii, but my first experience snorkeling in West Oahu. I really felt lucky to be able to join this tour, as I wanted to visit Yokohama Bay. It had been a while since I swam, so I was a bit worried and hesitantly signed up for snorkeling, but after listening to the thorough explanations, we swam from the beach, which made it completely enjoyable without any anxiety. While listening to various explanations from the knowledgeable Akima, we toured power spots, and the wonderful scenery of the natural and quiet West Oahu, different from Waikiki and North Shore, was truly moving. We took an astonishing number of photos, and I feel like my husband and I will have a lot to talk about when we return home. I highly recommend this tour!

今回は5回目のハワイでしたが、始めての西オワフでシュノーケリングも初体験。ヨコハマベイに行ってみたいと思い、このツアーに参加できたことは本当にラッキーでした。泳ぎが久しぶりで心配でもあり恐る恐る申し込みしたシュノーケリングでしたが、しっかりと説明を聞いてから海岸から泳いでいくものでしたので、全く不安なく楽しめました。知識豊富なあきまさんから色々な説明を聞きながらパワースポットを巡ったり、ワイキキやノースショア、東オワフとはまた違った、自然のままの静かな西オワフの素晴らしい景色は感動ものです。写真もびっくりするくらいの枚数を撮っていただいて、帰国してからも主人と思い出話しに花が咲きそうです。本当にお勧めのツアーです！

We enjoyed doing this Circle Island tour, very informative tour, our driver Keith was nice, and explained every landmark places. We took the Ali Luau package so we can go around inside the villages with our own time as we have a small kid to walk. The Ha Breath of life was fantastic show.

This tour was awesome! We had plenty of time to do the waterfall hike and swim in the morning, then a relaxing lunch hour, then AMAZING surfing lessons with Uncle Bryan's very capable instructors. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life!

I think it's great for those who have gotten tired of Waikiki. There are hardly any Japanese people around, so you can truly experience the local vibe. On this day, we were lucky to see four sea turtles. If you have specific places you want to visit or dislike making various stops, it seems that private tours are available, so please inquire with the tour company. Personally, I thought it might have been better to go with a private tour. You wouldn't have to worry about others. There are also many places to see in West Oahu lately, so if you go private, I think they can help you with various consultations. The service is very good.
*No need to worry if you can't swim.
*Pack light.
*Use a waterproof camera.
*Bring cash for tips and lunch, calculated to the minimum.
*Wear your swimsuit.
*Beach sandals are okay. If you have sea shoes, that's best. (Bring your own beach sandals)

I was disappointed with the circle Island Tour as it felt rushed and we only had a half hour at the Dole Plantation which was sufficient only to get something to eat very quickly and see nothing else. The Polynesian Cultural Center was marvelous, great luau, great show. Our driver was a very sweet man but tended to preach and too frequently interspersed his own Christian beliefs. He also mentioned, way too often, the High Cost of Living and the low wages. He is very knowledgeable with regard to the price of real estate on the island, about which I really have no interest.

West Coast Explorer - Land Tour & Beach Snorkel (from Ko Olina / Waikiki)

Great tour of the picturesque, less touristy west side of Oahu

Bob and Akima picked us up at 7.25 am outside Hawaiian Prince Hotel, then picked up 2 other groups of 3 making 8 of us. We drove out of Waikiki for around 20 mins with interesting commentary about Hawaii from Akima before reaching our first stop - a beautiful picturesque beach where it"s possible to see dolphins. Akima spoke Japanese so stayed with the 6 Japanese people leaving Bob to me and my friend. Bob told us a lot about the area and if you want to know more about surfing then Bob's your man. We then moved on to a small group of shops where we bought items for our picnic lunch later.
We next went to a Kaneana,(Makua cave) a very old sea cave with many legends attached to it. Bob was a great storyteller telling us about the legend of the shapeshifter shark man of Makua cave. Then you can explore the cave a bit if you dare!
Next we stopped at the stunning Makaha valley which again has a great legend associated with it and looks like scenery from Kong Island or Jurassic Park.
We were really lucky driving to our next spot as Bob spotted a rare Monk Seal basking on the rocks.
A couple more lovely spots then time for our lunch at Ku'ilioloa Heiau, and then the snorkelling at Pokai Bay. First Bob checked our swimming ability then gave us mask,snorkel and fins plus a life vest. Bob is very patient and stays with you all the time gently encouraging you to explore the sealife. I'm not confident snorkelling but felt very safe with Akima and Bob. We saw corals, beautiful colourful fish and 2 sea turtles.
It was a really great day which we would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to see a much less touristy authentic side of Oahu, the scenery is just beautiful and excellent snorkelling. Many thanks to Akima and Bob who made our day special.

Fun Time but a little rushed

This was a lot of fun but I think it would have been better if the bus would go to the waterfall and one beach place to allow more time to do activities. Our bus driver was informative but repeated himself alot which did get a little annoying at times.

We had Bob take us out to the west coast for the day, he was super knowledgeable about the history of Hawaii and provided a great cultural insight Into the lifestyle of the people.

We visited a magnificent cave, and several picturesque locations, followed up with a snorkel that was really appropriate to our skill level (intermediate).

He took plenty of pictures for us, and it was good to know that the tour went ahead regardless of numbers.

Fantastic day, best one of the holiday yet!

I had been wanting to visit West Oahu, but I hesitated because the guidebook mentioned a lot of car break-ins and that the area wasn't very safe. Then I found out about this tour.

In the end, it was a great decision to participate in this tour. I highly recommend it. The group was small, with just two couples including my spouse and me, which was perfect for those who want to enjoy the tour at their own pace.

With Akima as our Japanese guide, we learned about the history of West Oahu, the traces of Tahitians who are said to have landed there, and the sacred cave of KANEANA, which sparked our imagination about Hawaii's history.

For lunch, we enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere at a park by the beach where locals were having barbecues, and we had our lunch in the shade of trees. It felt like we were locals for a moment.

The beach was not crowded, and we could enjoy snorkeling at our leisure while locals jumped into the sea and did stand-up paddleboarding. The water was clear, and while there weren't an overwhelming number of fish, we did see a few, including a honu napping on the seabed.

The couple we toured with mentioned they had participated in various tours, but they were excited and said, "This is the kind of tour we like."

Next time, I would like Akima to guide us around the entire island of Oahu.

ランチは、ローカルの人がバーベキューを楽しんだりゆったりした雰囲気のビーチ前の公園で、木陰でランチタイム。ローカルの人になった気分を味わえました。
ローカルの人が海に飛び込んだり、スタンドアップパドルをしたり思い思いに楽しんでいるビーチは混雑もなく、シュノーケリングをゆったり楽しめました。海は透明度が高く、魚はあふれるほどいる、というほどではありませんが、フヌフヌプクプクアプアアや海底で昼寝をしているホヌもみれました。
ツアーにご一緒したご夫婦もいろんなツアーに参加されていらっしゃるとのことでしたが、「こういうツアーがいい」と興奮しておられました。
今度は、アキマさんにオアフ島一周を案内してもらいたいと思っています。

日本人向けのツアーで日程的に参加できるものがなかったので、こちらに申し込みました。まず、ハナウマベイ、こちらは止まらないのでほとんど何も見ることができません。潮吹き穴、平等院、クアロアランチ、ドールなどでバスを降りて、最後ヌアヌ・パリです。運転手さんは親切でしたが、ずーーっと大音量で話をしていて、ご本人の家族の話やら、観光には全く関係のないことが多かったので、静かに景色を見たい人には不向きかもしれません。平等院はレプリカですが庭園も美しく、ツアー参加者に一番好評だったようで、多くの方が時間を長めに費やしていました。ドールではパイナップルトレインや迷路に入る時間はないので、お買い物中心。全体的にお店巡りが多いなーという印象でした。また、運転手さんに別途チップが必要になります。

In conclusion, it was incredibly fun!!!!!!!

This was my first solo trip abroad. I was looking for an optional tour to go snorkeling and discovered this tour. It was my second time in Hawaii, and I had seen quite a few sites mentioning that the west side could be dangerous, so I hadn’t researched it for my first visit. But when I found out there was a tour that would take us to the west side, I quickly made a reservation. Of course, since I was participating alone, I had some anxiety, but the moment I met our guide Akima, all my worries disappeared.

This time, there was a Japanese couple, and in addition to them, there were also some international participants (I couldn't identify their countries...), so perhaps that’s why two guides, Akima and a man named Bob, were with us. I regretted not studying English properly, as I could have talked with Bob and the others if I could speak it.

Akima explained various things in an interesting and easy-to-understand manner, including legends and the origins of power spots, as well as Hawaii's history, the mindset of the Hawaiian people, their way of life, and current situations, sometimes in a quiz format. This made the time spent in the car and during sightseeing enjoyable. In fact, I wanted to ask even more questions.

Regarding snorkeling, it was disappointing that I didn’t get to see a turtle (only Bob found one, but it was deeper in the water, so we couldn’t see it from the surface, haha). However, I had fun touching a sea urchin and having it placed on my head (of course, Akima gently returned it to the sea), and I got to see fish that can only be found in Hawaii. I thought I’d like to be able to do some free diving, even if it’s not full-on.

Oh, I learned that while the west side wasn’t safe over ten years ago, that’s not the case anymore in recent years.

I definitely want to request other tours, like a private tour, next time! It would be fun to go hiking together too♪

I look forward to it again!!!

結論から言うと、めちゃめちゃ面白かったです！！！！！

今回、初めて海外へのひとり旅でした。
１日はオプショナルツアーでシュノーケリングしたいなと探していたところ、このツアーを発見。
ハワイは２回目で、西は危ないと書かれているサイトもけっこう見かけていたので１回目は調べもしていなかったのですが、西に連れて行ってくれるツアーあるんだ♪ってことでさっそく予約。
もちろんひとり参加だったので多少の不安はあったのですが、ガイドのあきまさんにお会いした瞬間、その不安はなくなりました。

今回は日本人のご夫婦がいらっしゃって、それ以外に海外の方(国はわかりませんでしたが、、、)も参加されており、そのためかBobさんという男性とあきまさんのお二人がガイドしてくれました。英語がしゃべれたらその方やBobさんともお話できたんだけどなぁと、英語をちゃんと勉強していかなかったことを悔やみました。

パワースポットについての伝説や名前の由来などはもちろん、ハワイの歴史やハワイの方々の考え方、暮らし、状況など、いろいろなことをあきまさんが面白くわかりやすく、ときにクイズ形式で説明していただけるので、車に乗っている間も観光中も満喫できました。
というか、まだまだいろいろ聞いていたかったぐらいです。

シュノーケルについては、カメに会えなかったのは残念でしたが(Bobさんだけ見つけてましたが、海の下のほうだったので海面にいた私たちには見えませんでした笑）、ウニを触ったり頭に乗っけてもらったり（もちろん、丁寧にあきまさんが海に戻しておりました）、ハワイにしかいない魚が見られたりと、楽しかったです。
フリーダイビングまではいかなくても、ある程度の素潜りできるようになりたいと思いましたね～。

あ、西は１０年以上前は治安がよくはなかったが、近年はそのようなことはないとのことです。

ぜひ、次回はプライベートツアーなど他のツアーもお願いしたいです！
ハイキングとかもご一緒できたら楽しそうです♪

Picked this tour to the north shore due to the choice of activities and since it had pick up from Waikiki. Mike was our guide and informative. Snorkelled at Shark's cove then headed to Waimea Bay for some snorkelling and beach time. Then chose to paddle boarding down the river near Haleiwa instead of kayaking. Ended the tour at Haleiwa. Good tour for the time spent up north and activities you could participate in and p/u provided.

The guide was very knowledgeable, so I was never bored listening to him! Touring while hearing about history and trivia allowed me to feel nature more deeply, making it a very memorable and stimulating experience! During the afternoon snorkeling, I was lucky enough to encounter a sea turtle, and although we can't touch them due to the law, it came very close to us, and I was completely charmed by its cuteness! I highly recommend this for those who want to enjoy a drive along a coastline different from Waikiki!

The guide was very eager to learn and had extensive knowledge about Hawaii. She entertained us by teaching us about Hawaii's birds, fish, flowers, and state flag through quizzes, explaining their reasons and origins. She also provided detailed information about Hawaii's unique climate, lifestyle, customs, and the flowers and seeds of its plants. Regarding the western tourist spots, she humorously shared local legends and stories while guiding us.

As for the snorkeling, she not only showed us fish, coral, and turtles but also discovered dolphins a bit offshore and helped two of our companions, who weren't strong swimmers, by pulling them along on a float. It must have been quite physically demanding for her. She kindly listened to our whims.

Additionally, on that day, we were fortunate enough to encounter a parade for a world champion in martial arts (a fighter from western Hawaii) and even met a wild peacock, which suggests that our guide had a special touch. She had lived in various places around the world and had experience in different jobs, sharing her rich knowledge about the lifestyles, climates, and customs of those countries.

Finally, regarding her personality, I felt she was a kind Hawaiian born in Japan. If I have the opportunity to visit Hawaii again, I would definitely ask her to be my guide.

I recently visited Hawaii after a long time, and since it was my friend's first trip to Hawaii, I was in charge of planning the itinerary. After debating between a "local guide" and a "niche tour," I decided on this tour.

First, I was surprised that our guide was a woman! Since it was advertised as "West Oahu where no one goes," I was curious about what kind of local guy would show up, but…

There were really no Japanese people at the beach! I felt like this was exactly the kind of tour I was looking for, and my excitement was through the roof. The supermarket was filled with locals, and I loved the feeling of being in an unfamiliar place.

The caves were also getting crowded with tourists shortly after us, so I thought the timing was perfect. The content included explanations of old legends and myths, and the guide took plenty of photos for us, providing thoughtful assistance throughout. She was knowledgeable about animals and plants, and I never got bored listening to her.

We encountered a pod of dolphins around Yokohama Bay, which got everyone excited.

During snorkeling, we saw not only sea turtles but also sharks. When someone shouted "Shark!" and I turned around, there was a shark about a meter long, and I had the incredibly rare experience of swimming alongside it. I was told it was not aggressive, but it was a bit thrilling.

While it wasn't just a random assortment of fish, we did see colorful fish and schools, which was great.

However, the temperature difference in the water made me feel cold before the turnaround point, and I started to feel seasick. The stops for explanations were the worst for my nausea. I apologize for not being able to hear much during the second half as I was battling my discomfort.

But it would have been better if I hadn't gotten seasick… Even if you can't swim and use a float, you still feel the waves while holding onto it… (laughs) It was fine while I was biting down on the snorkel, but the moment I took it out and tasted the seawater, I felt like I was going to gag (though I didn't throw up).

For lunch, it might be better to keep it light or eat something that can be eaten with your hands in the car on the way back (like bread). I bought a poke bowl for lunch, and they kept anything that needed refrigeration cool, so I felt safe purchasing it!

On the way back to Waikiki, I fell into a deep sleep, and by the time I woke up, I had recovered from my seasickness and was ready to enjoy the evening activities.

海も本当に日本人いない！こういうツアーを求めてた！！！って感じでテンションはあがりまくり…
スーパーもローカルしかいない所でこのアウェー感がたまらん！状態。
洞窟も私たちのちょい後には外人さんでいっぱいになっていて、時間のチョイスも絶妙だと思いました。
内容も昔ながらの伝説や神話を交えて解説、写真もバシバシ撮って下さるし細やかな対応で助かりました。
動物や植物にも詳しく、聞いていて飽きなかったです。
ヨコハマベイ周辺ではイルカの群れに遭遇で一同盛り上がりました。

シュノーケリングではウミガメだけでなく、サメにも遭遇しました。
サメだ！の声に振り返ると1mくらいのサメがいて、一緒に泳ぐという貴重すぎる体験が出来ました。人を襲わないヤツと言う事でしたが、ちょっとスリルがありましたね。

手当たり次第魚がいると言う感じではなかったですが、カラフルな魚や群れも見られて良かったです。

ただ…割と水の寒暖差でUターンポイント前には体が冷え切り、波には酔う始末。
説明の為に停滞するのが酔いの命取り状態でした^^;;
後半は自分との戦いでほぼ説明が聞き取れずですいませんでした。

寒さを感じやすい方はラッシュガード上下あると良い時期があるかもしれませんね。

しかし、波に酔わなければより良かったです…
泳げなくてNG！なら浮き輪で戻れても…酔いは浮き輪に捕まっていても揺れますしね…(笑
シュノーケルを奥歯でギューっとしている間は良かったのですが、外して海水の味が口に回った瞬間オエっとなりました(吐かなかったけど。
ランチは控えめか、帰りの車の中で失礼した方が良いかもしれません。(パンとか手で食べられるもの)
ランチはポキボウルを買いましたが冷蔵が必要なものは冷やしておいて下さるので安心して購入出来ました！

ワイキキに戻る間にぐっすりいっちゃったので、起きた時には酔いからも回復していて夕方からの遊びもがんばれました。

I thought there was only one power spot in the cave, but I was taken to multiple places, including the cave, the sea, and the mountains. Being a power spot, it was mystical, and I was able to enjoy the unique scenery of Hawaii. I was looking forward to snorkeling, and I was very satisfied to encounter not only beautiful tropical fish but also an eel and three sea turtles. Next time, I think I will practice using the fins a bit more.

パワースポットは洞窟の1か所だけと思っていたが、洞窟はもちろん海や山、何か所も連れて行ってもらった。パワースポットなので神秘的でありハワイ独特の景色も楽しめた。楽しみにしていたシュノーケリング、きれいな熱帯魚はもちろん、うつぼや三匹の海亀に出会うことができ大満足。次回は、もう少し足ひれの使い方を練習しておこうと思った。

It seemed a bit difficult to go on our own by rental car, so we joined this tour. I encountered a turtle while snorkeling! I was so happy to swim with the turtle.
