I have visited Hawaii more than ten times, but this was my first experience in West Oahu and snorkeling. I was captivated by Akima's personality and enjoyable conversations, along with precious stories about Hawaii's legendary history... it was a wonderful Aloha moment.

During snorkeling, Akima taught us with care and kindness, allowing me to swim comfortably even as a beginner. Against the beautiful backdrop of the green "Waianae Mountains" and the blue ocean, I was thrilled to swim with many fish, including the "humuhumunukunukuapua'a" (the state fish of Hawaii), and sea turtles.
We even had a fun photo shoot with a rare red sea urchin on my head! The photos taken were beautiful and filled with memories.
I highly recommend this tour. I would be happy to meet Akima again on my next visit to Hawaii.
I am grateful for the encounter with Akima and the enchanting Hawaii.

Oahu is beautiful and the tour was a Great way to experience it. Unfortunately, it did rain for part of the trip. Greg, our driver and guide is very personable and knowledgeable. He really aims to please. I would say that we were a little too packed on the bus, it would have been preferable to have been on a smaller tour. Overall, you certainly get your monies worth!

The tour itself was great. Getting to stop at some sightseeing areas and enjoy the PCC was definitely a highlight. Could have spent more time at the Dole Plantation and the PCC. The driver Rob was obnoxious however. He talked non stop very loudly and it was difficult to decifer what was fact and what was BS. He talked non stop about himself and we got to the PCC later than anticipated so had less time there.

The tour was okay. To begin with the driver did not wait or call us when we were at the hotel. We called the company so many times and they gave us info that the bus is late and then again in 10 minutes one says the bus left us! It was a horrible experience. I would believe they would atleast call us. But even then we tried to ask to meet the driver elsewhere to catch up on the tour and there was a long wait before they could say yes! The dispatcher lady was helpful but then the driver not so much. I didn't like how the driver kept on talking even though the crowd was asleep. Most tours I have been has a guide talking and interacting with you while the driver drives so its more fun but these have the driver drive and speak on microphone which was disappointing! The tour itself was okay because with the better tour guide it could have been much better. Do not miss the Polynesian Cultural Center. Could spend a good half a day there.

Polynesian Cultural Center great..driver/tour guide a little annoying

I found the driver/tour guide annoying and condescending. When telling us the time limits he could have scripted better like i.e." we're on a tight schedule and we only have 10 mins on this site so please be back at (state the exact time). He's so full of himself and very scattered with his stories and facts. He didn't even know Hawaii's state bird, he said the white crane. He kept on showing his arm muscles and his jokes were not even funny. He kept on singing, he could just have played any Hawaiian music, he also took jabs at other driver/tour guides.

Driver Levent was right on time for pick up .The tour was amazing & very informative . The knowledge Levent had was incredible . the sights we saw were good & lunch delicious . Highly recommend this tour for 1st timers to Oahu or returnees to the island.My daughter & I had a great time .

Amazing time

Our time at the Polynesian Cultural Center center was truly amazing. We did splurge on the super ambassador ticket. Which was well worth every penny. We spent the day with Tyrone, he was the most intelligent, knowledgeable, kind and caring person. He made sure we understood everything we were watching or listening too. It started to rain and he ran and supplied us all with rain ponchos. Everyone who worked there were friendly, and knowledgeable about their land. We were there for 8 hours and we could have easily have spent several more hours.

We wanted to see more of the island this time and choose this tour because it had so many stops and was a full day trip. Our driver was very informative & very knowledgeable. We enjoyed all our stops and had the best day!!! The lunch at Fumis was fantastic! I would recommend this tour to everyone!

I was taken to a place (West Oahu) that I couldn't reach on my own, and during snorkeling, I got to see turtles and schools of fish. Above all, the tour was amazing because I could enjoy Akima's fun conversations. Additionally, I was touched that Akima responded to my rather bold request over the phone, which was a highlight for me. I'm glad I asked for so many photos to be taken.

I haven't been to the North Shore yet, so I need to go back to Hawaii! I hope to be taken care of by Akima again next time.

I'm cheering for Akima's success from the skies of Japan.

The western part of Oahu, close to the hidden spots! It was just my family of three and our guide Akima, which made for a very private experience. Thanks to Akima's explanations filled with Hawaiian myths, including mystical caves, power spots, and Yokohama Bay, I think we enjoyed it many times more. The snorkeling was also fantastic with excellent visibility, and we had so much fun that we were completely exhausted! (Akima seemed full of energy!) Additionally, Akima's open personality, friendliness, and the various information about Hawaii presented in a quiz format were greatly appreciated (the "Huli Huli Chicken" at Ala Moana Center was so delicious that I ended up eating it twice, haha). Thank you so much, Akima, for creating the best memories of this trip!

Driving while listening to traditional stories of West Oahu was really enjoyable. The various local anecdotes were also interesting.

Above all, snorkeling was fun, and I was able to see many beautiful fish and sea turtles up close. The rare starfish was wonderful as well.

We were able to take many nice shots, including underwater photos! It became a great keepsake. I definitely recommend that you request the photos.

The cheerful voice of the Japanese guide lifted our spirits, and we were thrilled to hear various stories that we would never have known if we had gone on our own. During snorkeling, I felt a bit guilty for monopolizing the guide, but both my mother and I had a fantastic day! It's a tour that makes you want to visit Hawaii again. Thank you, Akima!

This was our family's fourth trip to Hawaii. We wanted to visit West Oahu, which we hadn't been to before, so we decided to join this tour. On the day of the tour, we were lucky to have just our family, and we were able to talk a lot with our guide, Akima. He shared various tips, such as the delicious food court places at Ala Moana (Lahaina Chicken, Blue Water Shrimp) and recommended buying grass-fed meat at Whole Foods if we wanted to cook for ourselves. We later visited those places and bought the meat, which was really cheap and delicious! Personally, I found it much tastier than Wolfgang's. The tour took us to West Oahu, which isn't often featured in guidebooks, and I believe it's a power spot. Akima's stories about the myths were fascinating and mystical, and just listening to them was very healing for me.

The highlight was snorkeling. At first, the water was murky and visibility was poor, but as we swam further, the water cleared up, and we could see colorful tropical fish. To our surprise, we encountered three sea turtles! We were able to swim alongside them. Akima, our underwater photographer, took pictures of us with the sea turtles and later emailed them to us. My middle school son, who has snorkeled in places like the Great Barrier Reef, Guam, Saipan, and Phuket, said, "This was the best ever! I want to go again!" Thank you, Akima, for the wonderful memories! We look forward to the next time!

クライマックスのシュノーケリング、入ってすぐは濁っていて視界が悪かったのですが、泳ぎ進めていくうちに視界もクリアになり、色とりどりの熱帯魚が見れ、さらにはなんと3匹の海亀に遭遇‼︎一緒に泳ぐことができました。水中カメラマンのあきまさんには海亀との写真をいつの間にか撮って頂き、後日メールで送って頂きました。グレートバリアリーフ、グアム、サイパン、プーケットなどの海でもシュノーケリングをしたことがある中学生の息子が「今までで一番良かった‼︎また行きたい‼︎」と言っていました。あきまさん、素敵な思い出をありがとうございます‼︎次回もまたよろしくお願いします☆

Since summer vacation had just started, it was just our family of four. We visited places that are hard to reach with individual or large tours, and ended with snorkeling. The snorkeling spot had calm waves, and our elementary school-aged sons seemed to relax and enjoy themselves very much. We were thrilled to see turtles, many types of fish, and even caught a glimpse of a manta ray later on! Akima's stories were enjoyable, and we definitely want to request him as our guide again next year!

I was looking forward to West Oahu since it was my first time there. The weather was great, and the clarity of the ocean was amazing. I also visited a mysterious cave for the first time. It was really fun thanks to our guide's friendliness and clear explanations. We had to change locations for snorkeling because there were sharks at the original beach, but the new spot was also very beautiful. It felt like we were taken on a drive while enjoying nature and receiving lectures on Hawaiian language, as well as listening to a wide range of guides about the myths of Hawaii and the formation of nature. If you're mainly considering snorkeling, you might find it a bit lacking. On the day of our trip, we changed locations because sharks were spotted at the originally planned snorkeling spot, and we ended up in an area with slightly stronger waves. There was a chance we might see dolphins, but due to the change in location, we didn't encounter any dolphins, turtles, or mantas. The instructor kept us entertained in various ways.

自然を満喫しながら、ハワイ語のレクチャー等も受けつつ、ハワイに伝わる神話、自然の成り立ちなど多岐にわたるガイドを聞きながらドライブに連れて行って頂いたと言う感じです。シュノーケリングを主に考えると物足りないと思います。

More than just a "tour"

My husband and I took our first trip to Hawai'i (O'ahu) and decided to take this Grand Circle Island tour so we could get a quick summary of some of the many sites to see and explore later on, when we have more time. Our tour guide, Lei-Hua, was definitely a local and she was able to share her vast personal knowledge and experiences of O'ahu with our group, which helped to make it even more special for us! Not just some regular tour guide that points out stuff and tells you what it is. Lei added her own personal touch to all the landmarks and then some!

I'm not sure if folks can specifically request their tour guide, but if you take this tour and it happens to be Lei-Hua, then you are in for a treat!

We participated as a couple. The weather was clear on the day, and the views at each sightseeing spot were wonderful. Although there were few fish while snorkeling, a sea turtle appeared right in front of us! It was an emotional moment and became a lovely memory.

What was a bit disappointing was the guide. She was very high-energy, which surprised me (she might have been trying to entertain us, but...). She kept talking continuously, sharing various stories related to Hawaii, which was educational, but she also talked a lot about herself (like where she lived in the past—several countries—and her dislikes), and I found myself thinking, "I don't really care about you..." by the end. There was also a Japanese woman who seemed to live in Honolulu participating, and when she spoke with her, it felt like they were friends. For example, they talked at length about a menu item that is only available at Kentucky Fried Chicken in the U.S., saying, "I want to eat this when I die!" which felt a bit condescending to us who live in Japan and wouldn't know about that.

This woman seemed to be friends with the guide but didn't particularly contribute to the tour, making her role unclear. The guide mentioned several times, "If I'm told to swim, I'll swim anywhere, but I absolutely don't want to climb mountains!" However, there might have been participants who wanted to climb Diamond Head, and I thought she lacked a bit of sensitivity. At the end, she handed out business cards and explained, "Compliments go to VERTRA! Complaints to my email!" which felt a bit too much.

少し残念だったのはガイドさんです。とてもテンションが高いかたで、ちょっと驚きました（楽しませてくれようとしていたのかもしれませんが、・・・）。彼女はずっとしゃべり続けで、いろいろなハワイに関わる話もしてくださり勉強になりましたが、ご自身の話（昔どこどこに済んでいたときに（数カ国ありました）・・とか、わたしはこれはきらい！等）も多く、「別にあなたのことは・・」と後半げんなりしました。また１名、ホノルル在住？の日本人女性が参加していたのですが、彼女と話すときは友人のような感じで、たとえば米ケンタッキーフライドチキンにしかないメニューについて長々と話し「死ぬときはこのメニューを食べる！」など、日本在住の私たちには知りようもない事で少し嫌みを感じました。
この１名参加の女性はガイドと友人みたいですが特にツアーに協力するでもなく立ち位置が不明でした。
ガイドさんは「私は泳げといわれれば何処までも泳ぐけど、山は絶対登りたくない！」と数回仰っていましたが、参加者の中にはダイアモンドヘッドに登るかたもいたかもしれませんし、少しデリカシーに欠けていると思いました。
最後には名刺を配られ、「お褒めコメントはVERTRAへ！クレームは私のメールへ！」と説明しており、あざとさも感じました。

The tour guide was wonderful lots of stories funny and knew lots of history. I enjoyed the Polynesian Cultural Center as well all the different cultures was interesting and fun at the same time. Great time for the whole day of staying busy.

My daughters and I had a great time The tour bus picked us up on time . The tour guide /driver provided us a lot of information and history about the island, restaurants and all important sites we drive by . He was was funny too . He answered every ones questions.He allowed us enough time for breaks and photos. We had an amazing time at the Waterfall, my youngest had a foot surgery last year and she can’t walk too fast , we where having a great time swimming in the waterfall pool that we lost track of time . We had 15 minutes to make back to the bus , knowing my youngest can’t walk too fast or run my oldest said “ I’ll have him wait mom “ and took off running ( she runs track and cross country) . We had to be back by 12pm , we ( my youngest and I) made by 12:05 , My oldest daughter was happy the driver waited for us , we all were :). Then we drove to the snorkeling site , the tide was low and it was too rocky, I have never snorkel and I’m not a great swimmer, so we walked up to do some shopping and had a fresh coconut. We made our last stop at Haleiwa, the driver recommended some restaurants . The girls and I had a wonderful time , we ate and did some shopping. He was on time to pick us up . On the way back to the hotel we were tired and feel asleep. Overall we had a great time, we visited a few places and I didn’t have to drive through all that traffic I feel bad I forgot the drivers name , He was knowledgeable and I felt safe with him behind the wheel while the girls and I enjoy the activities and sites . The only reason I didn’t rate outstanding is because the snorkeling was not fun , the waves were too strong and the tide was too low , too rocky, but no one can really control that :)

I was looking forward to meeting Akima just as much as going to West Oahu after seeing everyone's experiences. Since he lives an active life, he shared various stories from abroad, and I was impressed by how well he studied the history of Hawaii, which kept me engaged even while driving. Unfortunately, the snorkeling day had poor visibility, but I was very satisfied with the scenery and atmosphere of the west. I am approaching my sixties, but I still want to keep my energy up and hope to go somewhere else with Akima as my guide. Thank you very much!

皆さんの体験談見せて頂き、西オアフに行く事と同じくらいあきまさんにお会いするのが楽しみでした(*^-^)　アクティブに生きてらっしゃるからこその色んな海外でのお話、よく勉強してるなぁと思ったハワイの歴史について、などなど運転中も飽きさせません。シュノーケルはあいにく透明度の良くない日でしたが、西の景色、雰囲気、とっても満足しました。私はもうすぐ還暦ですがまだまだ元気を保って又、あきまさんのガイドでどこかに行きたいなぁと、思いました。ありがとうございました❗
