Lackluster. One of the captains was kind and helpful. The "driver" was a egomaniac with anger issues. He called a small group of customers "Too f*cking stupid. They are just too stupid!" ...to their faces about 4 times. If you want to catch large fish spend the dough for a better trip if you can afford it.

Got one this time

This is my second year in a row that I went shark fishing. Last year
3 of 6 caught but not me so I had to give it another try. There were 3 of us on the shark hunt. At the first spot no bites so we moved to deeper water and bingo I got a bite and landed about a hundred pound pacific gray shark. Unfortunately I could not get a picture as the shark was not being very co-operative.

It was a shared trip with six people. I was the only Japanese; the others were one Canadian man, two American men, and a couple. The crew consisted of a captain and one other person, for a total of two.

We set sail at 6 AM and spent the first hour or so fishing for bait off Waikiki. We used a fish finder to track schools of fish and fished with sabiki rigs. It didn't go very well, but we managed to catch seven or eight decent-sized mackerel. The bait was prepared in advance and kept in the refrigerator.

After that, we headed further out to sea, setting up our rods and waiting patiently for big catches. There were hardly any bites in the morning, but after moving to a location from the south to the west of Oahu, we started to get some action. That day, we caught two mahi-mahi and two spear fish.

The excitement when a fish was hooked and the joy of reeling it in became a lifelong memory. The crew was kind and nice guys. However, for those who don't understand English, participating alone might be tough. I think it's better to join with multiple people or charter a group. The waves were quite high, but perhaps because I was enjoying the view from the second deck, I didn't experience seasickness. By the way, none of the other participants seemed to get seasick either.

その後はさらに沖に出ながらロッドをセットして大物がかかるのをひたすら待つ。午前中はあたりもほとんどなかったのですが、場所をオアフの南から西の方面へ移動してからあたりが出始め、この日はマヒマヒ２匹、スピアフィッシュ２匹の釣果でした。
かかったときの興奮と釣り上げたときの感動は、一生の思い出になりました。
クルーは親切でナイスガイでした。ただ英語がわからない人は、１人で参加するのはきついかもしれません。複数人で参加するかグループでチャーターする方がいいと思います。波は結構高かったですが、２階のデッキで景色を眺めたりしていたからか、船酔いはありませんでした。ちなみに他の参加者にも船酔いはいませんでした。

Fun trip. Good crew. Was a little crowded. Good light dinner served. Do not pay $63 can book for $55. Can ask to keep fish. only 1/2 of our group caught fish.only first and last stops were biting.captain would move if no bites so that was nice.overall very good value.

This was a great fishing trip, a lot of fun with very few people on the boat, which is always nice. I liked going at night because it was cooler. Everyone on the boat caught fish which is also always nice. The only thing I would change is that you know ahead that they don't sell beer on the boat so you can bring your own. The crew was the best and super nice. The first mate was totally on top of things the whole trip and we even got to have the fish we just caught a little earlier because he grilled them right there on the boat. I would definitely go on this trip again with these guys! Awesome trip!

This is a shark fishing event. The fishing trip lasts just under three hours. It may not be suitable for those who are serious about fishing. This is because out of 10 participants that night, only 5 caught fish. However, when someone is fighting a fish, you must quickly reel in your line to avoid tangling. In other words, you will be watching others fish. The fight time is about 15 minutes per catch, so if 5 fish were caught, you would be watching for over an hour. For those who absolutely want to catch fish, a charter is recommended.

Excellent, affordable bottom fishing trip. The crew was very had working and pleasant - Joe the first mate was non stop helping people, with a great attitude the entire time. Many fish were caught and it was awesome that Joe cleaned and grilled them right there so that we could all enjoy eating them on the way in! Best bottom fishing trip I was ever on (been on about ten before, in various places).

Captain was extremely helpful and level headed to the novice fisherman on the boat. Deckhand supplied fully rigged leaders any time you asked or needed one. Only caught one shark on the trip but it was overall a great experience. They stayed late just to make sure we caught something and made sure everyone had a good time. Will definitely do this again next time I am in Hawaii!

I was really looking forward to catching sharks on my first day of sightseeing in Hawaii, but there was absolutely no sign of any fish. I got really seasick, and even after taking both the anti-nausea pills and drinks, nothing helped! The rocking was that bad! Well, I guess I can accept that since it was mentioned in the precautions, but the staff from the pickup service who came to the hotel arrived late without any apology. They made us get into a rundown van without getting out of the car or even opening the windows, just waving us over with their fingers through the glass. No friendliness at all. When we got to the boat, another staff member was sulking and seemed in a bad mood while preparing. I feel like I could overlook it since it's America, but of course, I didn't give a tip. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone on their first trip to Hawaii. Even if we didn't catch any sharks, I wish they would stop showing an attitude like "it can't be helped." We understand that sometimes you don't catch anything when you sign up...

It was a cold night in November! I also felt seasick, so it was quite tough until I started catching fish. I took motion sickness medicine, but it might be hard for those who usually get seasick... However, when you start catching fish, it's really exciting! If you like sharks, I highly recommend it! Dress warmly and definitely give it a try!

The staff is friendly, but the fast-paced English might be tough for residents from non-English-speaking countries who have little experience with fishing. In fact, out of about 15 participants, half were already down despite the calm sea. The remaining half didn't seem to be English speakers either, and their fishing techniques were all over the place. There was no blood bait used at all; they just tossed in the bait... After five hours, only three rods had any bites. However, since they didn't know how to fish properly, there were two missed opportunities due to premature strikes, and only one was barely brought in. I felt that the lack of shoulder harness equipment on the boat really suggested that they weren't set up for actually landing fish. If the fishing techniques and baiting methods were reconsidered, it could become a much more enjoyable activity. Additionally, if they clearly communicated clothing recommendations, fishing techniques, and precautions in advance, it could become even more popular.

I participated with a group of six colleagues from work.

Since we set sail at 10 PM, we had been quite active with other activities throughout the day and were starting off in a pretty fatigued state. *This is completely our own responsibility, though.*

At first, we were excited because the boat was quite nice, and the crew was preparing the bait fish, bonito. However, after three hours, we had caught nothing... It was a bit chilly on the boat even with long sleeves, and I could feel our spirits dropping. By the way, two out of the six of us got seasick... and we were really sleepy from the day's activities.

Just as I thought we might be heading back without catching anything, the rod bent, and we hooked a pretty big shark. Everyone was excited at that moment, but overall, it felt a bit underwhelming... I think it would have been purely fun if we had caught more...

The crew only spoke English, but I think the explanations were understandable enough, so it wasn't too inconvenient.

I had done the daytime bottom fishing your with this group before abd it was a lot of fun. The shark hunt was a fantastic time and is well worth the time and money. The crew were very friendly and made a genuine effort to ensure everyone had fun and had the best chance to catch a shark. In the end, I caught a 70 lb. reef shark and it was an experience I'll never forget. It should be on your bucket list if it isn't already!!

Fish or cut bait!

The first sign of trouble was when they changed our fish time because they couldn't get anymore people for the evening we wanted.
The fishing was like fishing in a small pond, hooks small and the rig was for bottom fishing. Thus fish caught were small though the crew did save one catch for bait for a shark hunt they were doing later that night.
One of the people who contacted me stated he would refund some of the fee because of the time change and he never did.
The only good part was the boat ride and the view from the ocean.
Bottom line go for the marlin if you really want to fish or check out some of the offers on the North Shore, they sound better than this one.
They made me choose who I would recommend this to, wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants to fish.

Let's Go Fishing!

This was my very first fishing experience and I shared it with my 12 year old son. We don't know anything about fishing, fishing poles, reels, bobbers, bait..nadda! This activity claims it's easy for beginners and it was. Only problem I had was the check in process, the guy in the kiosk seemed very irritated and closed the window right before a customer came up to his kiosk to ask a question. The guy in the kiosk didn't want to talk to anyone either and we had to pass our vouchers through the little opening in the window that he did leave open. Once checked in he told us to head to the Sashimi boat. On the boat the deckhand named Evan was grilling our burgers and hotdogs YUM! But the portion was very small, more like a snack. We were given half a burger, half a hot dog, small scoop of rice with chilli, and 1 pineapple.. but REMEMBER!!!.. the small food portion, irritated kiosk person isn't the reason we did the tour.. we wanted to do some fishing!

Don't Come for the Fishing

I have been on similar fishing trips in the past. As far as fishing goes, this was the biggest disappointment of all of them.

The fishing gear was not adequate for the fish in the area. Throughout the trip rigs were being lost to fish with sharp teeth. I personally lost one rig and my partner lost two, and it was definitely a fish, not coral. The captain and mate spent a large amount of time replacing rigs.

Over the course of four hours the entire boat caught about eight triggerfish, which all had to be thrown back. Not a single keeper was caught. A majority of the boat, including myself and my partner, never hooked a thing except for whatever stole our rigs. I believe a lot more fish could be caught if appropriate tackle was used.

The sunset and the view of Honolulu were the bright spots in the evening. The boat also got a great view of Diamondhead.

I will never being doing the fishing trips again, but a sunset dinner cruise might be worth it.

Fishing Trip On Oahu

This was the wrong activity for me to book for my family. In reading the fishing trip description it appeared that it would be fairly calm since we were fishing close to shore. At no fault of the Captains or activity provider, the water was very choppy and very high rolling waves, and all 3 of my family members spent pretty much the entire time leaning over the side of the boat "chumming the water". 3 days later and we are still feeling a little weak in the stomach. I would not recommend this for a family activity. Maybe for a hard core individual wanting to do some ocean fishing. Make sure you don't get sea sick before you book this or it will affect your other activities after you attend the fishing trip. Again, I want to say that the Captain and crew were excellent, but we just underestimated the high waves and how long we would feel sick to our stomach afterwards.

Oahu Sashimi Bottom Fishing

Had a beautiful day out on the water, but the propellor got wrapped in someones rope that another boat had tossed overboard. That made it impossible to get to the intended fishing spot, so the fishing wasn't as good as it should have been. 1st Mate Richard and Capt. Dave made the trip as enjoyable as possible. After a good lunch Richard had to jump overboard and clear the rope from the propellor to bring us in. Richard was very attentive and helped my grandaughter catch the largest fish that day, an almost 3ft saltwater gar. She loved it! Our 2 sons both caught triger fish. My husband and myself were fishless. We had hotel pickup and with the beautiful sites and lunch it was well worth the price even without the fish. The captain and first mate made the best out of something they had no control over.

I couldn't help but participate in this unique activity that isn't offered elsewhere. In my group, there were 8 Japanese and 8 foreigners, totaling 16 participants, and we managed to catch sharks 4 times. (It's a rough estimate, but that would be about a 25% success rate.)

As long as you don't have overly high expectations that you'll definitely catch something and remember to take motion sickness medication beforehand, you can have a truly wonderful experience. However, the staff members hardly speak any Japanese, so you won't be able to catch all the detailed instructions. Also, we always seemed to get hits at specific spots. When I participated, the rods were mostly set up at the bow... I recommend taking a position at the front of the boat and giving it a try.

The boat ride out to our fishing spot was worth the price in itself, I had never been on a boat before or on muchless the open ocean. The seas were relatively calm but our party of 3 all took a motion sickness preventative and none of us experienced any problems during the trip. Make sure to bring a light jacket as it will feel cool with the wind and especially after the sun goes down.

The crew made us feel comfortable and safe at all times, provided dinner on the way out to sea and we were also able to eat our catch if you wanted to.

We each caught one fish and had a good relaxing time on the way home with the view of Oahu & the stars from sea.
