There were 6 of us who decided to take the trip for the day to walk from Manele harbor to the beach for snorkeling and fun in the sun. A few people in our party were late to the dock and staff was able to change our tickets to a later ferry at no charge. Was easy to walk to the beach 5 minute walk and we saw tons of fish and had tons of room on a beautiful beach. Saw whales, dolphins, turtles, and flying fish on the ferry ride. Everyone had a blast!

The weather was nice on the day, and I was able to encounter whales, and at Molokini Island, I could see many fish. At the next spot, I was also able to see sea turtles, which was really great.

The company did not state the name of the snorkel boat. My cab driver could not locate the boat and others had no idea what boat we were to go on. Later we noted in small print a reference to the name of the boat doing the cruise.
The cruise personnel were very nice but the only thing I was upset about was a mask they swapped with me that leaked. This limited the enjoyment of the snorkel experience. Otherwise I would recommend the snorkel cruIse. Sorry, I forgot the name of the boat.

I participated with my parents in their 70s.

Previously, I had joined a sunset tour at Mauna Kea on the Big Island, so this time I definitely wanted to experience the sunrise.

The sunrise at Haleakalā was truly a precious experience. The sun rising from the magnificent sea of clouds is hard to describe. The space where we waited in the dark, shivering from the cold, transformed into a bright and warm glow with the sun's arrival—it's something you can only understand by experiencing it. The starry sky was also exceptional, but the beauty of the changing colors of the sky is beyond words.

At the summit, there were many tourists reserving spots, and we waited for about an hour. Warm clothing is essential. We prepared winter heat-tech shirts, down jackets, hats, and gloves, but I regretted not wearing two pairs of pants. Hand warmers are also a must, especially for Japanese people who are sensitive to the cold. However, for the trip back and forth, it's better to wear light clothing like a T-shirt, and it's advisable to prepare for changing clothes on the bus since you can leave your luggage there.

One disappointing aspect was that I had requested a Japanese audio guide, but ultimately there was nothing available. I was prepared for the fact that the sunrise tour only had an English guide, but I had a bit of hope since VERTRA's website mentioned one audio guide for every two people. While it was fine to follow along with others to see the sunrise, I could hardly understand the explanations from the guide on the way there and back due to my limited English skills. That was disappointing.

Breakfast was at a golf course, where you can choose your favorite menu items. The breakfast was really delicious. However, the guide didn't manage the seating arrangements well, and we ended up separated into two groups of two and one for breakfast. I understand that it's difficult to expect the same level of detailed service as in Japan, but I wished the guide had put in a little more effort.

The Haleakalā sunset tour in Japanese is also popular. For those who are good at English and okay with a midnight departure, I think the sunrise tour is definitely worth it. However, if I have the opportunity to go to Maui again, I would like to participate in the sunset tour. Alternatively, it might be good to drive to Haleakalā myself since the road is straightforward, so there's no chance of getting lost—just during the daytime.

ハレアカラのサンライズは本当に貴重な体験になりました。
雄大な雲海から昇ってくる太陽はなんとも言い難く。真っ暗で寒さに震えながら太陽を待っていた空間が、太陽によって一気に明るくあたたかく輝いたものに変化していくのは、体験してこそわかるもの。星空も抜群でしたが、移りゆく空の色の美しさはなんとも言えません。
山頂には大勢の観光客が場所とりをして、1時間ほど待っています。
防寒具は必須。私たちは冬用のヒートテックのシャツにダウン、帽子や手袋も準備していましたが、それでもズボンを二枚ばきにすれば良かったと後悔しました。カイロも必須です。寒さに過敏な日本人は特にかも。
ただし、行き帰りは普通にTシャツの軽装の方がよく、バス車内で脱ぎ着ができるように準備しておいた方が良いと思います。バスには荷物を置いておけるので。

残念だったこと。
日本語のオーディオをリクエストしていましたが、結局何もないまま。
英語ガイドしかサンライズはないので覚悟はしていましたが、VERTRAさんのHPには2人に1台貸し出し、とあっていたので少し期待していました。サンライズを観るについては、他の人と同じように動いていれば大丈夫だったのですが、行き帰りのガイドさんの説明など、こちらの英語力の乏しさもあって殆どわからず。残念でした。

朝食はゴルフ場で。自分の好きなメニューを選べます。
こちらの朝食は本当に美味しかったです。
ただ、座席の配分をガイドさんが上手に手配してくれず、私たちだけ2人と1人に分かれて朝食を取りました。日本のような細やかなサービスを求めるのは難しいとはわかっていますが、ガイドさんのもう一手間が欲しかったです。

ハレアカラはサンセットの日本語ツアーも人気です。
英語が得意、夜中の出発もOKの方はサンライズツアーも大いにありかと思いますが、今度、もしマウイに行く機会があればサンセットに参加したいと思います。もしくは、ハレアカラを自分でドライブするのが良いかもしれません。道路については一本道ですので、迷うこともなく。ただし日中に。

Our family was the only Japanese there; most of the attendees were from Europe and America. After watching the sunset, we had a proper dinner. The meal was served buffet-style as the sky turned to stars. Honestly, the number of menu items was considerably fewer than I expected, and while each dish was delicious, I started to feel a bit bored halfway through. However, drinks were all-you-can-drink, and with a variety of options, those who enjoy drinking might be very satisfied.

The show itself was full of lively spirit, and laughter echoed throughout the venue. With many attendees from Europe and America, the atmosphere was quite lively. However, since it lasts nearly three hours, the time felt a bit long. It was a bit chilly, so a light jacket is essential, especially since most drinks are served cold.

As for my parents' impressions, they said that while they don't need to see it two or three times, it's a show worth watching at least once.

On the way back, they sell commemorative photos taken at the entrance, and if the picture turns out well, it might be worth purchasing as a keepsake. Although it's a tourist price, my parents were happy with it.

両親の感想ですが、二回、三回とは観なくてもよいが、1度は観ておきたいショーとのこと。

帰りがけに入場時に撮影した記念写真を販売していますが、映りが良ければ記念に購入しても。観光価格ですが両親は喜んでいました。

また滞在中はレンタカーを使用していましたが、飲酒するためホテルからはタクシーをお願いしました。ハワイも飲酒運転厳禁ですのでご注意を！！

The sun hid behind the clouds at a crucial moment, but according to our wonderful driver and guide, Neri, we were lucky enough to witness the sexy sunrise, which has only about a 5 percent chance of being seen!

Anyway, on this Haleakalā tour, Neri, the only female driver, was incredibly skilled as a guide and had perfect driving techniques.

The tour was on August 16, and it was really cold; even wearing a Heattech turtleneck and an ultra-light down jacket, I felt like I was shivering. I think it would have been nice to have ear muffs, hand warmers, and something like a blanket or a cape as extra gear.

My fellow passengers were from Germany and the United States (San Francisco, Chicago, etc.), and we all had a great time. The guide spoke in English, and I think I understood about half of it, but it wasn't a problem at all.

英語のガイドですが、何となく半分程度は理解出来たと思いますが、特に問題はありませんでしたよ。

The weather was good, but perhaps due to the lack of wind, clouds covered the sky and we couldn't see many stars at the summit. Since the weather is beyond our control, I accepted that. I appreciated the thoughtfulness of the guide who suggested we should try again next time. However, at around 1000 meters, we started to see a few stars, so we stopped the car and were able to see the stars again. The guide offered to explain the stars now or to plan for a future visit, allowing everyone to choose.

I felt very humbled, but since we were all meeting for the first time, I thought it would be difficult to choose one option as opinions might differ. There were four groups, and one person from my group said they wanted to proceed with the explanation, but someone from another group suggested we should plan for a future visit, so everyone agreed on the latter. I was fine with the idea of a future visit, but I felt a bit disappointed because I didn't think everyone would be able to return.

Other than that, I thought the attention to detail in the selection of background music and the setup of chairs at the summit was wonderful.

天候は良かったのですが、風があまりなかったせいか雲がかかり山頂で星があまり見えませんでした。天候はどうしようもできないので納得をしています。お心遣い頂き今度リベンジしましょうと言って頂いたのですが、1000mあたりの場所で少し星が見えてきたので、車を停めて頂き改めて星を見せて頂けました。もし良かったら今星の説明をさせて頂くか今度リベンジか皆で選んで下さいとの言葉を頂きました。
非常に恐縮ですが、お互い初めて会った人ばかりで意見は別れる場合もあるのにどちらか選ぶ事は難しいと思います。4グループいて1人の方が今お願いしますと言われましたが違うグループの方がリベンジでと言われたので皆さんリベンジで合わされました。私もリベンジで良かったのですが、皆さんが再訪出来る訳では無いと思いましたので、その点だけ残念に思いました。
その他はBGMの選曲や山頂での椅子のセッティングあらゆる面での説明など事細かな配慮は素晴らしかったと思います。

As early as the pick up times for this tour, it was worth it!! The experience to watch the sunrise over Maui and right above the clouds of Haleakala was absolutely amazing!! Shuttle ride up the mountain was perfect to take naps before arriving to the summit. Pick a spot along the fence line as soon as you can because it gets crowded very fast!!

Now...all visitors, PLEASE understand that you are a VISITOR into the home of Hawaiian Islanders, RESPECT their boundaries on their land!!! DO NOT hop over fence lines!! There are barriers for a reason!!
1) They are protecting their island plants and animals as they aren’t very many anymore.
2) STAY OFF SACRED LAND!!! They welcomed you into their home, respect the places you are not allowed to enter!!

Don’t be ignorant!! Respect the land you travel!
There were MANY ignorant people that even when the park representatives came out to get people back over the right side of the fence were ignored!

They opened their home and welcomed you so that you can experience an amazing view, enjoy it by appreciating their hospitality and respecting their boundaries.

The natives will chant as the sunrises, it would be nice for everyone to quiet the conversation and bask in the chant and take in this spectacular experience.

Honestly, I did a bit of research beforehand, but it's easy to see why there are so many repeat customers! Participating during a turning point in life or when feeling lost would surely resonate deeply.

The level of our guide, Yamauchi, was high, and we received the best guidance. It was a memorable tour. It was very cold, but the stars seen from the summit of Haleakalā were a once-in-a-lifetime experience. During the explanation of the stars, it felt like something out of Star Wars, with laser beams creating an illusion that the stars were suddenly closer. It was really cool.

This tour was so fun. We had a really nice driver that talked about the culture and history of Maui, and she even asked my wife and I questions about ourselves. She knew all the best places to stop & take pictures, eat banana bread, and what literally every plant was. She was truly and expert guide. At one point, she stopped at a waterfall for us to look at, and she said we could jump off of it and she'd take a video of us. And we did!! It was SO fun. Wow. I would do this again. Anyone who goes might want to bring a change of clothes/a towel in case you want to go for a swim!

They provided clear and detailed explanations about where to sit after boarding. They were always attentive to me, offering ginger-infused soda and acupressure for motion sickness when I started to feel unwell. Even after entering the water, they supported us while considering each person's swimming level! I struggled to encounter a turtle, but after persistent effort, they found one at the last moment, and the turtle came up to the surface for air! It was so cute and moving!!

They even set aside a hamburger for me since I couldn't eat due to feeling unwell, and I truly appreciate their thoughtfulness. My husband, who participated with me, was also very touched! Thank you so much!

乗船してからどこの位置に座ればいいかなどその他も事細かな説明を分かりやすくして頂きました。船酔いしていまった私に、生姜の入った炭酸水や酔い止めのツボを押してくれたり常に気に掛けて頂きました。また、海に入ってからもそれぞれの泳ぎのレベルに配慮してサポートして頂きました！亀になかなか出会えず粘りに粘って最後の最後で、亀を見つけてくれて息継ぎに亀が水面に上がって来ました！とても可愛いくて感動しました!!
ランチのハンバーガーを気分が悪く食べられなかった私の分も取り置いてくれていて、心遣いに心中より感謝致します。一緒に参加した主人もとても感動しておりました！本当にありがとうございました！

Molokini Island is definitely a MUST-DO, so I joined the snorkeling tour. From before boarding the boat, coffee was already prepared, and once on board, there was a spread of breakfast fruits and muffins, which made me feel well-prepared. The captain provided various guidance during the boat ride, and Takahashi, a Japanese staff member, took great care of us (we were the only Japanese) as well as many families with children and elderly guests, which was very comforting. I was impressed by how hard the guides worked to assist the guests during scuba diving as well. For lunch, there were plenty of BBQ cheeseburgers and hot dogs, giving off a true American vibe! The guides all worked together to find turtles and showed them to the little kids. Later, the captain turned into a bartender at the bar counter, serving free beer and Mai Tais. The atmosphere on the boat felt like a social gathering, with everyone having a great time and cheering for the whales that occasionally appeared. We ride various boats during scuba diving, but this one had clean restrooms for both men and women, making it an incredibly fun tour. The staff were very attentive, ensuring that even those who couldn't swim and children who were afraid of the water could enjoy entering the sea. It was the best tour. Just seeing the amazing clarity of Molokini is worth it, so definitely consider joining!

It was my first time in Maui. I remember feeling very relieved to have a Japanese tour in Maui, where Japanese is hardly spoken. I heard many stories related to Maui. The sunset was truly beautiful, and I was amazed by the countless shining stars. They explained each one through a telescope, and I was able to confirm them. It was very cold, but they lent us warm clothing, which made me feel at ease. I definitely want to show this to my family. On the way back, everyone was exhausted and sleeping.

It's been mentioned many times, but I think those who are reading this and are inexperienced might not fully grasp it, so I’ll write it down even if it overlaps with other reviews.
"You should participate in this tour while it's available."
"There are only three companies that can conduct stargazing tours: American, Korean, and this Yamapi."
"The entry restrictions for the tour are strict, so you should apply immediately as there's no guarantee you can participate."
First of all, Yamapi mentioned that they might only be able to continue for a few more years, so this wonderful experience is something you can only have now. Among the three companies with operating permits, you can only choose between the American company, which has just started a few years ago, or Yamapi's tour, excluding the rather careless Korean company. However, reaching the summit at 3055m (even by car) is more challenging than you might imagine. There is no more comfortable tour than Yamapi's, which has over 3000 successful runs and exceptional hospitality.
Also, even though it's a tour company, there are limits on the number of people they can take, so booking early is wise.
As for the tour content, it’s not just about being driven to the summit to casually watch the sunset and stars. Along the way, they explain about the towns of Lahaina and Kahului as you ascend the mountain. To avoid altitude sickness, they stop at a donut shop and make multiple restroom breaks, showing great attention to detail. Everyone buys a bento, and for some reason, the timing for the sunset is perfect, which is truly moving. You can also see the green flash, and Yamapi takes photos of each group. It's recommended to bring a digital camera rather than just a smartphone. Enjoy waiting for the night while eating your bento and stargazing. It’s not just about looking up at the night sky. The stargazing experience with two professional telescopes and explanations exceeds all expectations. It’s something you absolutely must see and hear. On the way back, they safely navigate the dark, steep roads.
As I write this, I feel like I’m not conveying the greatness of this tour at all. Please participate, see, hear, and be impressed and moved. Your reason for coming to Maui will be significantly enhanced!

まず、ヤマピーさんもあと数年しか続けられないと話されていますので、この素晴らしい体験が出来るのも今しかないってことです。催行許可を持っている三社の中で、最もいい加減な韓国系は除いて、まだ始めて数年の米国系 or ヤマピーさんのツアーどちらかに参加するしかありませんが、3055mへの登頂は（車で行くとはいえ）想像以上に厳しいのが事実。催行回数3000回を超えるヤマピーさんの経験とホスピタリティに勝る快適なツアーはありません。
また、ツアー会社といえど入山させることが出来る人数には制約上限りがありますので、早め早めの予約が吉です。
肝心のツアー内容ですが、単に車で山頂まで連れて行ってくれてサンセットと星空をぶらぶらと眺めて帰ってくるわけではありません。道中、ラハイナやカフルイの町を解説しながら山の中腹へ。高山病を避けるためにドーナツショップへ立ち寄り、トイレに複数回立ち寄る細やかな気配り。お弁当をみんなで買って、何故かタイミングバッチリのサンセットに感動。グリーンフラッシュも見られますし、ヤマピーさんが一組ずつ写真撮影してくれます。スマホよりはデジカメを持参することがおすすめ。お弁当を食べながら楽しく闇夜を待って、星空鑑賞。ただ夜空を見上げるだけじゃありません。プロ用の望遠鏡を2台使っての解説付き星空鑑賞は期待も想像も軽く超えてきます。絶対見るべき、聞くべきです。帰り道も真っ暗な急な坂道を安全運転でしっかり届けて回ってくれます。
書きながら思いましたが、まったく伝わらない気がしますね、このツアーの素晴らしさが。ほんと参加して、見て、聞いて、感心して感動してみて下さい。マウイ島へ来た意味が格段にアップします！

I absolutely wanted to visit Haleakalā when I went to Maui! Unfortunately, the sunrise wasn't very clear due to the weather. However, the sea of clouds was magnificent and had its own mystique. Everything was explained in English, and we could also borrow an audio guide. The guide was very considerate towards us, a Japanese couple, and spoke to us a lot. My husband, who doesn't speak any English at all, also enjoyed it. The pancakes for breakfast were delicious as well. I hope to see the sunrise next time I go to Maui!

On my second trip to Hawaii, I visited Maui for the first time. I really wanted to go to Molokini, so I booked a tour. Our guide, Kana, was very kind and took a lot of photos for us, helped us search for sea turtles, and shared many personal stories. We rode on a boat with international guests, but I felt completely comfortable participating as a Japanese person! The ocean was incredibly beautiful, and I was so happy. I was a bit worried about the early morning, or rather late night, pickup, but I was relieved when they arrived earlier than scheduled. Since it was an English tour, I was anxious, but the warm hospitality put me at ease. Also, the driver and guide, Neli, was fantastic!

It was a shame that I only understood about half of what was said, but he talked about important things in Hawaii (probably... haha) in a captivating way, which, combined with the enchanting nature of Haleakalā, made for a mysterious experience. During sunrise, he chanted, and that alone almost brought me to tears. It was truly a great tour. After descending the mountain, we enjoyed breakfast in a lovely place with a view of Haleakalā. MAHALO Nui Loa!!

早朝？というか夜中のピックアップで少し心配でしたが、予定より早く来てもらい安心しました。英語のツアーなので不安でしたが、温かい対応でほっとしました。また、バスを乗り換え、運転手兼ガイド、Neliが最高でした！！
半分ぐらいしかわからなかったのが残念でしたが、ハワイの大切なこととか（多分・・笑）話してくれるのですが、こちらが引き込まれるような語り方に、ハレアカラの幻想的な自然と相まって不思議な体験ができました。また、日の出の時には、チャントを唱えてくれてそれだけで涙が出そうでした。本当にいいツアーでした。山を下りてからの朝食も、目の前にハレアカラを望みながら、雰囲気のいいところでおいしく頂けました。MAHALO Nui Loa!!

Great trip! Nice cruising both ways. Took the 0900 ferry, had lunch at the Four Seasons, then caught the 1400 ferry back to Lahaina. We even had some whale sightings! Very nice. Have done this before, will do it again!

It was a day with such high transparency that even the guide was excited; the sea was truly beautiful. The Japanese guide was very cheerful and provided detailed lectures on various topics. Especially regarding the best spots and lunch, they shared a lot of information in advance, making everything go smoothly. It seems that the English guides or audio guides didn't provide such detailed information, which is a unique aspect of having a Japanese guide. I was really satisfied to have met a sea turtle as well.

日本人ガイドさんはとても明るくて、色々と細かくレクチャーしてくれました。特に場所とりやランチについても事前情報をたくさん教えてくれたので、すべてスムーズに。
