We were picked up at our resort within one minute of the scheduled time in a brand new very comfortable tour bus and the guide Henry immediately set a wonderful tone for the tour. Our entire time together his comedic delivery was flawless but he mixes it with very interesting facts about Maui history and culture which really kept our interest. His content and delivery was perfect and completed the tour rather than overpowered it; a perfect mix.

The tour stops were excellent in timing and again, Henry's information really made the difference. Of course, once we got towards the top his focus was on safety but not overpowering. He's also an excellent photographer!

The scenery of the tour by itself is breathtaking but combined with Henry's expertise it was truly memorable.

This is the number one optional tour I've participated in so far! The guide, Yamapi, really conveyed his desire for the participants to enjoy themselves, and I was moved by his hospitality. I believe this is a tour he has done many times, but I felt he delivered the best performance every time. I think that's truly amazing.

Haleakalā has an elevation similar to that of Mount Fuji, so I was a bit worried about altitude sickness, but we ascended the mountain by car with breaks along the way, which minimized the physical strain, and I had no problems at all.

The sunset viewed from the grand panorama, the shadow of the Earth, and the starry sky were beyond what can be captured in photos; the scenery I saw with my own eyes is something I will never forget for the rest of my life.

After stargazing, I felt my heart was cleansed while listening to Yamapi's stories over a warm cup of tea. Since this trip was a turning point in my life, it resonated deeply with me, and I felt motivated to keep moving forward.

Considering the history of the stars, I want to live my life to the fullest without regrets, even if it's just for the blink of an eye! I hope to bring my family here someday. Thank you so much, Yamapi!

今まで参加したオプショナルツアーの中でNo.1です！
ガイドの山ピーさんが、参加者に楽しんでもらいたいと思う気持ちが伝わってきて、そのホスピタリティにも感動しました。きっと何回も行っているツアーだと思いますが、毎回最高のパフォーマンスをされているのだなと感じました。本当にすごいことだと思います。
ハレアカラは富士山とさほど変わらない標高で、高山病なと少し心配もしていましたが、少しずつ休憩しながら車で山を上がっていくので、体の負担も最小限で、全く問題なかったです。
大パノラマで見るサンセット、地球の影、満点の星空、写真では伝えるには限界があるほど、自分の目でみた景色は、これから一生忘れることはないと思います。
スターゲイジングの後に、温かいお茶を飲みながら、山ピーさんのお話を聞いて、心が洗われた気持ちになりました。人生の分岐点での旅だったので、ぐっと刺さるものがあり、また前を向いて頑張っていこうと思えました。
星の歴史からすると、瞬き3回ほどの人生を精一杯、悔いなく生きたいと思います！
いつか家族を連れて、またここに来たいです。

When I came to Maui, my friend told me that I should definitely experience the sunrise at Haleakalā, so I joined the tour, and it was a great decision. The guide who took us to the summit was a local and explained everything in English. Most of the participants were Americans, so if you're not confident in your English, you might feel anxious, but there weren't really any situations where English was necessary, so you can rest assured. Since it was summer in June, it wasn't too cold, so if I want to join again, I would prefer to do it during this time. It was also great that we stopped at various viewpoints on the way down. The attached photo was taken at one of these viewpoints.

マウイ島に来たらハレアカラ山のサンライズを必ず経験すべきだと友人から言われたので参加しましたが、大正解でした。山頂まで案内するガイドさんは現地の方でずっと英語で説明されてましたしツアーに参加されたのはほぼアメリカの方だったので英語が苦手な方だと不安になると思いますが、英語が必要な場面は特になかったのでご安心を。６月の夏だったからかそこまで寒くなかったので、今度また参加したい場合もこちらの時期にしたいと思いました。
下山するときにいろんな展望スポットに寄ったのもすごく良かったです。添付した写真はこの展望スポットで撮りました。

It was my first time going to the Haleakalā sunset, and I was very moved by the sunset.

The guide only spoke English, so there were a few parts that were a bit difficult to understand, but I enjoyed it without any problems.

The food was delicious.

I think it would have been even better if I had done more research beforehand.

Star Tour

Beautiful sunset, earth blue, and a starry sky! (It was close to a new moon) It was a very satisfying tour! Since it was a tour where we could move around by car, it was fine not to wear trekking shoes. I didn't imagine it would get that cold, but even with a shirt, hoodie, ultra-light down jacket, fleece-lined tights, a stole, the jacket I borrowed, gloves, and a blanket, I still felt cold. They mentioned it was good that there was no wind, but if you don't need it, you can leave everything in the car, so if you're sensitive to the cold, it's better to bring some extra layers. You can take really beautiful photos with a DSLR or mirrorless camera!

Since it's a natural experience, I can't guarantee the conditions will be perfect, but if you're going to Maui, I think this is a tour you absolutely should participate in. I definitely want to come back again.

星ツアー

綺麗な夕焼け、アースブルー、満点の星空！(新月に近かったため)大満足のツアーでした！
車で全て移動できるツアーなのでトレッキングシューズじゃなくても大丈夫でした。
そこまで寒くなることを想像できずにいましたが、シャツ、パーカー、ウルトラライトダウン、裏起毛のタイツ、ストール、お借りしたジャケットに手袋、毛布でも寒さを感じました。風がなくてまだよかったとの話でしたが、いらなければ車に全て置いておけるので寒いのが苦手な方は持って行った方がいいです。
一眼やミラーレスだと本当に綺麗な写真が撮れます！

自然のことなので、コンディション良くしっかり見られるかわかりませんが、マウイ島へ行くのであれば、絶対に参加すべきツアーだと思いました。また絶対に来たいです。

I had the best time ever with my tour guide Sammy. She was so much fun to be with. I felt like I was out with a friend for the day. She was more than happy to share her knowledge and appreciation of Hawaiian culture, heritage and history.

I learned so much that day. She made Maui come alive for me, the flora and the fauna and some stories that have been passed down through the ages.

I participated quite a while ago, but the detours and drive to the summit of Haleakalā, along with the guide's talk, were very interesting and made for wonderful memories. The gradient of the sunset was truly beautiful and moving. The stargazing was also enjoyable, as they provided warm clothing, hot drinks, and chairs, allowing us to relax and enjoy the experience.

かなり前に参加しましたが、ハレアカラ山頂までの寄り道やドライブ、ガイドさんのトークはとても興味深く、とてもいい思い出になりました。
サンセットのグラデーションは本当にきれいで、感動しました。
星空観測も防寒具と暖かい飲み物とチェアを用意していただき、ゆったり楽しむことができました。

The sunset is similar, but it's great that the view of the starry sky is wider than at Mauna Kea. The equipment was also good. Additionally, the guide's individual knowledge is incredible. I thought some of the stories about the guide's life were a bit excessive, though.

サンセットは同じようなものですが、マウナケアより星空の視野が広いことが良い。機材もよかった。後、ガイドさんの単体の知識が半端ないです。少しガイドさんの人生に関する話は余分かとは思いましたが。

For about 10 years, I have wanted to participate in this tour, and although I traveled alone this time, I decided to join. It was a wonderful time like no other, filled with warmth and a profound sense of emotion that truly conveyed Yamapi's heart and feelings to the core.

I was able to join the tour right at the moment of the countdown from the Heisei era to the Reiwa era in Japan, and it felt like I was welcoming a new era while enjoying the sunset at Haleakalā.

Additionally, the starry sky in the best condition was more amazing than I had imagined, and Yamapi's stories brought forth feelings of gratitude and various emotions. When taking photos, he even checked the settings on my camera and smartphone, allowing me to capture pictures that I truly wanted to keep.

It was a fun and wonderful tour that makes me want to participate every year. Thank you very much!

10年ほど前から、どうしてもこのツアーに参加したく、今回一人旅でしたが、思い切って参加させて頂きました。
とにかく山ピーさんの心や気持ちが骨の髄まで伝わってくるような、温かで、そして大きな感動と感激を生む、今までにない素敵な時間でした。
私はちょうど日本時間で平成から令和へのカウントダウンのタイミングでこのツアーに参加できたので、ハレアカラのサンセットを見ながら過ごすことができ、良き新しい時代を迎えられるような気持ちがしました。
また、最高のコンディションでの星空は想像以上に素晴らしく、山ピーさんのお話に、感謝や色々な思いがこみ上げてきました。
写真を撮る際も、カメラやスマホの設定まで見て下さるので、ずっと残したいと思える写真を撮ることもできました。

It's been several years since I learned about the guide Yamapi on the information program "In Love with Hawaii"... I never imagined that I would have the chance to meet him. That made the moment of the hotel pickup incredibly emotional for me. For Yamapi, it may have just been another day in his 15-year career, but he navigated with full effort and led us to breathtaking views that I had never seen before. Standing at a crossroads in my life, his words shared under the starry sky resonated deeply with me. My visit to Maui, which I intended to be a culmination of my experiences, has now turned into a hope that I will definitely return! Thank you very much.

情報番組『ハワイに恋して』でガイドのヤマピーさんを存じ上げてから幾年…まさかお会いできる日がくるとは思ってもいませんでした。それだけに、ホテルピックアップの時点で感無量。ヤマピーさんにおかれてはキャリア15年のうちの１回にすぎない１日も、全力でナビゲートしていただき、見たことのない素晴らしい景色に導いて下さいました。私自身、人生の岐路に立っている今、星空のもと語られたヤマピーさんのお言葉が胸に響きました。私にとって集大成のつもりで訪れたマウイ島がまた必ずや戻ってくるぞ！の希望にかわりました。ありがとうございました。

On the day of the event, the wind was calm, and there were no clouds, creating the perfect conditions. We leisurely made our way to the summit, taking multiple bathroom breaks. At Foodland, we received recommendations from our guide, Yama-P, and it felt like we were on a little supermarket tour, which was fun! We ended up buying a lot of recommended items. We also chose our sushi for dinner there. As we climbed to the summit, we enjoyed listening to Yama-P's stories. He took us to a less crowded spot for the sunset. We enjoyed our time for about 30 minutes until the sunset. After reaching the summit, we took pictures and received explanations while it was still slightly bright. It gets quite chilly at the summit, so don’t forget to dress warmly! Afterward, we descended a bit and finally did some stargazing! While they prepared chairs, we enjoyed the dinner we bought from the supermarket in the car. It was nice to have it in a warm setting. We also had some warm tea.

When we stepped outside and looked up, we were amazed by the stunning night sky! The number of stars visible to the naked eye was unlike anything I had ever seen before, spanning 180 degrees... this was a first-time experience for me. It was truly a natural planetarium! It was beautifully set up. We also used a telescope to see many stars that couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

Other stargazing tours often require standing or viewing in the cold, which can be tough for someone like me who isn't fond of the cold. However, this tour allowed us to sit in chairs, and they even provided warm blankets and gloves, making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience without any strain!

当日は風が少なく、雲もなく最高のコンディションでした。何度もトイレ休憩を挟みながらのんびり山頂へ向かいます。途中で寄ってくれるFoodlandでは山ピーさんお勧めの物を教えて貰えて、スーパーのツアーをして頂けたようで楽しかったです！お勧めを沢山買ってしまいました。夜ご飯になるお寿司もそこで自分達で選びました。山頂到着まで山ピーさんのお話を聞きながらまったり登ります。サンセットは人の少ないスポットに連れて行ってくれます。サンセットまでの約30分間それぞれの時間を楽しみました。サンセット後はまず山頂へ。まだ薄明るい中で写真を撮ったり説明を受けます。山頂はやはりぐんと冷え込みますので、厚着をお忘れなく！その後また少し降り、最後に星空観測です！椅子などを準備して頂いている間に、スーパーで買った夕食を車の中で頂きました。暖かい中で頂けるのは嬉しかったです。温かいお茶も頂きました。
外に出て、上を見上げパッと目を開けた時には感動の夜空が広がっていました！今まで見たことのない星の数が肉眼で見れます。それも180度…こんな体験は初めてです。まさに天然プラネタリウム=天プラ！上手に仕上がってました。笑
望遠鏡も使って肉眼では見れない星も沢山見させて頂きました。
他の星空観測ツアーは立ったままみたり、寒い中見たりと、寒さが苦手な私には星を楽しみたい反面酷な時間でもあったのですが、このツアーは椅子に座りながら、温かい毛布と手袋まで下さり、無理なく楽しめる大満足のツアーでした！

Highly recommend this tour! You really see the diversity of the island. The waterfalls are beautiful, the banana bread was delicious and seeing both sides of the island made you get a real feel for Maui.

Great tour of the pineapple fields and processing. Thankfully my wife printed the receipt showing we paid through Veltra for the Pineapple and Distillery tour because Maui Gold has no record of it.

I initially considered going by rental car, but it was definitely the right choice to sign up for the tour. The continuous curves and some roads without guardrails are safer to leave to the professionals. My 7-year-old and 11-year-old participated as well, and there were no issues since we took breaks and ascended slowly. For those who are prone to motion sickness, it's advisable to take medication in advance and ensure you get plenty of sleep. The tour content is as others have described, and I can only say that Mr. Yamauchi's guidance was outstanding. This is definitely a recommended tour if you go to Maui.

当初レンタカーで行くことも考えましたがツアーに申し込んで正解でした　カーブの連続で一部ガードレールもない道はプロにお任せした方が安全です　7歳と11歳の子供も参加しましたが休憩を入れながらゆっくり登って行くので問題ありません 車酔いに弱い方はあらかじめ薬を飲んで睡眠をしっかり取っておくと良いでしょう ツアー内容は他の方が書かれている通りで、山内さんのガイドは素晴らしいの一言　マウイ行ったら絶対におすすめのツアーです

Our tour guide was so much fun! He even sang us a song with his ukelele!

Delicious pineapples, interesting history telling by the tour guide, very strong alcohols to sample, even had a song sung for us!

It was a wonderful tour. Watching the sunset over the sea of clouds and the shadow of the Earth from the summit of Haleakalā, along with the countless stars, was truly overwhelming and breathtakingly beautiful. I believe it's not an exaggeration to say that if you haven't seen this, you might wonder why you came to Maui. The guide was also someone who approached this job with conviction and had a wonderful personality. If I come to Maui again, I would like to request this tour.

素晴らしいツアーでした。ハレアカラの山頂というとてつもない非日常的な場所で眺める日没の雲海や地球の影、そして満点の星々は正に圧倒的であり、息をのむ美しさでした。これを見ずしてマウイ島に何しに来たのかと言っても過言ではないと思います。またガイドさんも信念をもってこの仕事をされている方で、素晴らしい人柄でした。またマウイへ来ることがあればこちらでお願いしたいと思います。

The sunset and starry sky can be affected by weather conditions, but they always guide you with the best points of the day in mind. They provide thoughtful restroom breaks and souvenir recommendations, and gradually acclimate you to the high altitude, so it wasn't physically taxing. I had the best Haleakalā sunset and stargazing experience. They provide plenty of warm gear, but for those who are concerned about the cold, I recommend preparing even more as if for mid-winter.

天候のコンディションによりサンセットや星空は左右されますが、その日の最高ポイントを常に考えて案内してくださいます。細やかなトイレ休憩やお土産のオススメ、高地にも徐々に慣らして行けるので体も辛くなりませんでした。最高のハレアカラーサンセット・星空体験ができました。防寒グッズを十分用意してくださってますが、寒さが心配と思われる方はさらに自身で真冬並みに備えることをオススメします。

It was a wonderful tour. The sunset and the starry sky were, of course, beautiful! The explanations were plentiful and enjoyable. Above all, it was a tour filled with love. The memories and the scenery are truly treasures.

I planned the tour to coincide with the new moon, so it turned out to be the perfect sunset tour as I had hoped. Our usual Japanese guide will provide the tour. Traveling to Hawaii, including Maui, is always enjoyable and creates wonderful memories, no matter how many times I visit.

新月の日程に合わせて、ツアーを計画したので、思い通りの最高のサンセットツアーになりました。いつもの日本人ガイドさんの案内は観光いたします。マウイ島を含めた、ハワイ旅行は何度来ても楽しくて、思い出が作れます。

The guide was very kind and attentive. They provided chairs and had a telescope, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful night under a sky full of stars! If we had a bit more time, we could have enjoyed the restroom breaks and the supermarket more! The only reason I didn't rate it as the best was that it was just too cold that day. The next day, I heard the mountains were closed due to snow. In Maui, you can swim at the beach and see snow on the mountains.

I had several concerns about participating in the overseas tour, and this time was no different.
Will the pickup be on time? ← They arrived right on time.
Will the guide speak Japanese? ← The guide was a true Japanese person, haha.
Will I be able to use the restroom? ← There were breaks, and the restroom was relatively close.
Will I be warm enough with the cold-weather gear I brought? ← There were warm clothes and blankets available.
Will I suffer from oxygen deprivation? ← It was fine as we ascended while acclimatizing.
Regarding this tour, there were absolutely no issues.
Our guide, Mr. Yamauchi, was great at conversation and very knowledgeable. He answered questions outside of the tour accurately as well. It rained during the day, but it was clear above the clouds. During the stargazing, the wind was minimal, and we could see a perfect starry sky. We even saw shooting stars! The sushi we had for dinner was delicious, and the warm tea helped to warm us up.
I took various photos, but I believe seeing it with my own eyes is the best part of the tour. If you plan to go, make sure to book early as it fills up quickly.
Lastly, thank you for everything, Mr. Yamauchi! I look forward to seeing you again when I visit Maui! (*^^*) Date of participation: January 2019.

お迎えはちゃんと来るのか？←時間通りに来てくれました
ガイドは日本語が話せるのか？←生粋の日本人でした笑
トイレは行けるか？←休憩もあるしトイレは比較的近くにありました
持ってきた防寒具で寒くないか？←防寒着も毛布もありました
酸素不足にならないか？←体を慣らしながら上がるので大丈夫でした
このツアーに関して言うと全く問題ありませんでした。
ガイドの山内さんは会話上手で知識豊富。ツアー以外の質問にも的確に答えてくださいます。この日は途中で雨に降られましたが雲の上は晴れていました。星空観測では風の影響も少なく満点の星空を見る事ができました。流れ星も見えましたよ！夕飯に食べたお寿司は美味しく温かいお茶で身体も温まります。
写真は色々撮りましたがやっぱり自分の目で見る事が一番のツアーだと思います。行こうと思ったら早めに予約をしないとすぐ満員になってしまいます。

I participated with my wife. It was a tour that we joined with high hopes for the magnificent panorama of Maui and the starry sky, but unfortunately, it rained heavily. We had a faint hope that the weather might change at the summit, but the rain continued, and we decided to head back. However, thanks to the warm hospitality of our guide, we were invited to a popular local Italian restaurant, and the authentic wood-fired pizza was truly delicious.

Additionally, the guide's stories were very enjoyable and educational, which captivated us. Although we didn't get to see the starry sky as we had hoped, this tour, which could have been just a disappointing memory, turned into a very memorable and enjoyable experience thanks to the guide's entertaining stories and kindness. I would like to join the starry sky tour again next time for a chance at redemption. Thank you very much for the wonderful memories.

私は家内と二人で参加しました。
マウイの壮大なパノラマと満点の星空に期待を膨らませて参加したツアーでしたが、残念なら土砂降りの雨、山頂に行けば天気も変わるのではとの淡い期待も虚しく変わらずの雨、諦めて帰路に着きましたが、ガイドさんの暖かなお心遣いにより地元で人気のイタリアンレストランに招待して頂きました、直火窯焼きの本格的ピザは本当に美味しかったです。
また、ガイドさんのお話しがとても楽しくまた勉強にもなる内容でしたのでついつい惹きつけられてしまいました、目的であった満点の星空には出会う事が出来ず本来なら単なる残念な思い出になっていた今回のツアーですが、ガイドの楽しいお話やお心遣いで大変印象深い楽しい思い出となりました。次回またガイドの下満点の星空ツアーにリベンジ参加したいと思っております。楽しい思い出を本当にありがとうございました。

I drove up to a height similar to that of Mount Fuji, and coincidentally, it coincided with a lunar eclipse. Despite the heavy crowd, I was able to navigate skillfully and enjoyed an enchanting world.

富士山と同じくらいの高さに車で登り、たまたま月食と重なって、劇混みの中、クルクルと機転を利かせて頂き、幻想的な世界を満喫させてもらいました。

On Christmas, December 25th, I participated with my family of five. We were blessed with good weather, and it was comfortable without any wind. However, as someone who gets cold easily, I spent the time bundled up in my UNIQLO Ultra Down jacket, along with the warm gear provided and a lap blanket. (I noticed someone brought a knit hat, and I thought I should bring one next time!)

Every moment was a luxurious experience!

I read reviews to choose this tour, and one mentioned, "The guide, Mr. Yamauchi, maximized its charm."

That was absolutely true! Mr. Yamauchi's thoughtfulness multiplied the emotions we felt. Having such a wonderful guide made it a memorable experience for a lifetime. I believe the scenery and stories left a lasting impression on the children as well!

お天気に恵まれ、風もなく、過ごしやすいとのことでしたが、
寒がりの私は持参したUNIQLOのウルトラダウンと用意していただいた防寒具と膝掛けで過ごしました。(ニット帽を持って来ていた方がいて、次回は持って行こうと思いました！)

Beautiful views, fun little tour and learned a lot We had no clue about. Make sure you do the tasting also.

The tour started at 3 am. First stop was in a store where we were supposed to buy water and chewing gum to make the way up the mountain easier. The bus was new and confortable. We arrived at the top of the Haleakala around 5:30 am and stayed freezing outside the bus until 6:40 am, for the sunrise. It was cold and windy, around 0°C... Other companies provided blankets and jackets to their customers. Ours didn’t. The view was fantastic even in that cloudy morning. It’s worth waking up that early! After the sunrise, we started our way down, with two great stops to see the view. Breakfast was served in front of golf course around 9:30 am. We arrived at the hotel at 10:45 am.
