Professional tour with knowledgeable experts— no luck with the whales this time
Reviewed by: Christina, 2018/01/15Heads up: both parking and the stand for the whale watch tour was difficult to find. Luckily we were able to get ourselves on the next tour after missing the originally scheduled one due to the variables above. Tour guide was professional, but for a whale watching tour, and given our expections for the season, it was not up to par. Maybe next time.

ベストシーズンではありませんでしたが

best two hours on the water EVER
Reviewed by: Ann Travers, 2018/01/07Friendly and knowledgeable crew, really well organized expedition. We were told we were particularly lucky as we saw many whales and at least 6 breaching. Beautiful animals. We learned a lot and left the boat excited and happy.

見れました。

見えました！！
Reviewed by: ｓａｔｏ, 2018/01/0212月シーズン始まってすぐでしたので見れるか不安でしたが、当日の朝ホテルの部屋から海を見ていると。遠くに潮吹きが見えました。
これは今日はラッキーかもと期待しての乗船。最初は遠くで潮を吹いている様子でしたが、右舷、左舷どちら側でもクジラを見ることができました。
ブリーチは一度だけ、突然だったので写真におさめることはできませんでしたが、感動ものです・
後半は、船を移動して子どもくじらを見せてくれました。
乗客は、欧米人のみ。東洋人は、当方2人でした。英語はさっぱりですが、なん小さい船にのりたかったので選びました。
小回りがきく船ですので、おもしろかったです。小さなお子さんは危ないかも。
ただ、チェックインの際、受付の女性の態度がいまいちでした。
バウチャーには、しっかり時間、名前、そして受付小屋の番号も記載されているのに、「ここと違う。三つむこうの小屋へ」とバウチャーを返され、その三つむこうの小屋の受付のおじさんに、バウチャーを見せると、ここではないよと親切に言ってくれ、しかもいっしょに最初の小屋についてきてくれました。
その人にこれはここと言われても、女性の態度は横柄で、にこりともせず、乗船番号札をわたしてくれました。
英語圏の客でないのが気にくわないのか、残念な態度でした。
そして、もうひとつ、下船の際、クルーの女性が、他の乗客に笑顔で握手していたので、主人が感謝の言葉を言いながら手をさしだすとひっこめられました。
ハワイ島では感じなかったのですが、マウイ島では、この時以外にも日本人に対してきびしいかな
と思った経験がありました。

Outstanding whale watch
Reviewed by: Carol and Jim , 2017/12/30We were totally impressed with the professionalism of the research staff on the whale watch of Dec 8. The pilot was extremely experienced and could pick up the behavior of the whales from afar to make an educated guess as to if they might come up more often than not. The attendants were knowledgeable as well providing much information as to the life cycles of the hump back whales. Many questions were answered to our satisfaction. They put a sort of a microphone to attempt to detect whale sounds although not successful they were willing to try all the technology to help us have the best experience ever. I really think luck played a big part in our amazing morning of whale watching but that being said it's worth taking a chance and we most appreciated the staffs attention to safety and providing all the education they did. The juvenile whales came right up to our boat and we're curious and playing around the boat so long the pilot had to call a sailboat over to distract them away so we could start our engine and return to shore. It was just amazing.

Pride of Maui Afternoon Snorkel Cruise with BBQ Lunch from Maalaea [Open Soon]
Fabulous experience!
Reviewed by: Chris, 2017/12/21If you are looking for a snorkeling/whale watching experience, this is the one for you! All facets of the trip lead you to a perfect time on the water.
The captain took us to a beautiful spot for snorkeling located on a coral reef that had clear waters and many species of fish. It was our first time snorkeling. The crew taught us the basics, guided us while in the water, and shared how best to see the fish. Having a waterproof camera helped us capture the fun we were having as a family. We were sure glad we had it, especially when it came to the turtle sightings!
The boat, the Pride of Maui was well equipped with all the gear we needed, including multiple sizes of fins and snorkeling goggles. It was a comfortable boat, with storage under seats on the upper deck. Great views of the waters with whale sightings even during an off season. The slide is a must! You go zipping down and fly into the water! Never gets old!
The lunch was tasty, plump hotdogs and cheeseburgers were cooked over a grill and served warm with all the fixings. If you are a vegetarian and/or gluten intolerant, it’s best to call ahead to let them know so your needs will be covered. They are ready to make your lunch perfect for you if they have a heads up. There were several kinds of soft drinks and fruit punch along with alcoholic beverages for adults. The Miatais were the best!
All in all, a highly recommended choice for all ages!

What we got was a large, clean, well equipped vessel. A very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great weather and phenomenal views of several different pods of humpback whales.

Fun Day
Reviewed by: Brenna, 2017/12/20This was a very great experience for me and my family! The servers on the boat were very kind and helpful. When we got to the place where we snorkeled I had a lot of problems with my snorkeling set and had to ask for a new one many times, they were still nice and helpful and wanted me to be able to snorkel with out any problems. We had 45 min of snorkeling time which was the perfect amount of time for me! I even got to see a turtle, which was a big plus. The BBQ was ok with limited options, but tasted good. On the way back we whale watched and saw several even though it was off season. The boat was clean and bathrooms were also. If we came back we would stay with Pride of Maui!

The crew was helpful and knowledgeable as well as patient and kind, help and assistance were always there yet we were given the freedom to be independent to make the day even better. Saw just a few whales, overall okay experience
Reviewed by: sunny, 2017/12/19The cruise started off at the harbor where we checked-in, waiting to board. Once we were seated, the boat undocked and we were on our way to watch some whales. The narration was the best part of the trip. The narrators were very informative and would tell us stories. They were always on the lookout for whales and try their best to take the boat as close them as possible but it was our mis-fortune that around that time we could only spot a few whales that too for just a couple of seconds. On the other hand, the views were surreal from the middle of the ocean. They guarantee a sighting and that's exactly what we got but I wish it was for longer.

Great experience for 3-year old daughter!
Reviewed by: Kenji Miwa, 2017/12/18It was my daughter’s first time whale watching and I felt it was a great experience for my little one. We were able to see a couple of whales from far away, but since it was not during the peak whale watching season, we couldn’t get the full whale watching experience. I would love to come again during the peak season around February, which is what I heard is when there is the most whale activity. Other than that the view was great and I would recommend whale watching to anyone who haven’t experienced it yet. The water may be a little choppy at times so I would recommend people taking motion sickness medication for people who might be sensitive to motion sickness.

Great snorkel & whale watching trip!
Reviewed by: Donna MacKenzie, 2017/12/09Once we were aboard the Pride of Maui, the captain and crew made us feel right at home. We were lucky to see humpback whales just a few minutes into the trip. How exciting! The grilled burgers had our mouths watering but first, we had to anchor st Coral Gardens to snorkel. Lots of fish to see and the weather cooperated so it wasn't windy or cold. The slide on the boat was a great extra. The crew was always ready to help with any of our questions. All in all, we have a very good excursion with the Pride of Maui boat and crew. We definitely would book again.

Whale Watching in Maui!

We were all anxious to see whales and our boat got right out there and we started seeing whale spouts. The boat was always on top of where the whales were. Through out the entire ride, the captain was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all questions. The boat itself was well stocked and very clean. There were plenty of tables inside and on top, as well as seats on the front and back. Everyone had a place to sit and could see the action from anywhere on the boat. The end of the tour was the most incredible. Two whales swam literally under the boat and came out in front of the bow. Seeing how big these amazing creatures were so close was a once in a life time experience. Both whales came up for air at the front of the boat. The whales seemed as curious about us as we were about them, and hung out around our boat for a good fifteen minutes. I highly recommend this tour and their company for an incredible whale watching tour!! The experience is excellent for couples and families with children of all ages. My one bit of advice would be to show up twenty five minutes before check in as it was very busy and took some time to find a parking spot.

Reviewed by: ちなみ, 2017/12/083回くらい見えたうちの最後の1回がとても近くで見れて感動しました！私は母と参加して携帯しかなかったのですが十分動画におさめられて満足です！強いて言えばジャンプをもっと近くで見たかったな〜という感じなので星4つにしました。あと軽食も飲み物も有料なので何か持って行ったほうが良いです。
ホテルから20分くらいでレンタカーで行きましたが港の近くに広い公共の駐車場があったので便利でした！お昼におわってそのままラハイナの街を散策するのもお勧めです。

‘Twas a beautiful morning chasing sea life!
Reviewed by: Michelle, 2017/12/08My little family of 3, husband and my 3 month old, went on this whale watching excursion and it was the highlight of our trip! I was very excited to find out that infants are welcome aboard. The entire crew was very informative, fun, and did everything they could to help the everyone spot some whales. We were so lucky to cruise with hundreds of spinner dolphins right below us. We even got close enough to spot a whale even though we were told it was early in the season. O would recommend bringing binoculars if you have some and a jacket because it definitely gets chilly and windy out there. Thank you to the entire crew for making my dream of seeing the whales come true!
