Na Pali Coast Tour

Absolutely loved this experience and the helpers on board made it even better! I really enjoyed how we would go along and the captain would talk about a certain place or landmark. It was so fun stopping and relaxing for lunch and going for a swim. I do recommend to bring something if you get cold easily during the cruise. The captains on board were very friendly and constantly checking up on people!They were also very open to answer any questions people had.

My friend and I loved this excursion. It was the highlight of our trip. The Napali Coast was amazing. So beautiful and rugged. Snorkeling was great and whale watching was phenomenal. Would highly recommend this trip and this company to anyone visiting Kauai.

Breath Taking Views, Relaxing Ride & Delicious Lunch!

This tour was exactly what we were looking for a full day of sight seeing, lunch and no effort on our part!!

What we experienced:
- Pick Up - we got picked up at 7:30 in the morning by the shuttle and then it went to many other hotels to pick up other passengers. Your time will vary depending on where your hotel is.
- Sights - we got to see all the sights listed on the itinerary including some extras at the beach. We saw the Monk Sealions and Turtles at the beach and that was a bonus treat! The pit stops were the perfect amount of time to hop out to take photos, enjoy the sight and then move on.
- Waimea Canyon - lots of different view points - we got to see it from all around. There was PLENTY of picture ops. This was really a hop on hop off photo tour. So don't expect any hikes or long walks. What I loved is I never had to worry about the parking situation, paying park fees, or the driving obviously. It's perfect for anyone without a car or for cruise go-ers. Even though we had a car rental, I didn't regret not having to do this drive myself. I got to nap on the way back because even though I didn't hike, it still was a long day.
- Lunch - The food exceeded my expectations after reading the reviews (I'm sure the bad experiences were during Covid times). We had huge chicken portions and it was seasoned well and cooked well. The plantation that we ate at was beautiful and relaxing so we enjoyed the lunch break a lot.
- Coffee plantation tour - nice pit stop that we wouldn't have made on our own but enjoyed the op to tag along on this tour.

Our tour guide (so sorry for not remembering his name-Italian man from NJ originally) was great. He gave good history, good info all while he was driving. He had so much knowledge and good recommendations and really funny!!

The tour was exactly what we wanted to explore a large chunk of the island - no stress and no worry on our part.

The crew is very friendly and gets to know you as you make your way out to the coast line. Then they provide you with a spectacular tour of the coast while sharing knowledge about the history of the coast line, Hawaiian culture and general ocean sea life. They stopped to show us spinner dolphins as a pod crossed our paths and pointed out other sea life native to Hawaii. Awesome Tour All Around!

My family, including four kids, had a wonderful time on the Na Pali coast boat tour. The crew went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience. We saw bottlenose and spinner dolphins and tons of whales up close. The views of the coast were mesmerizing. Although the weather did not cooperate for snorkeling, the crew made up for it by letting us jump off the boat and swim. It was a day to remember and a highlight for the kids!

Saw all parts of the island. Tons of waterfalls. Even whales in the ocean. Saw one breech. Mark did an excellent job of explaining the island past and present. I had to reschedule due to rain but the next day was fabulous weather. Building staff very helpful and pleasant to work with.

My husband and I both agree this has been our favorite activity while in Hawaii (we’ve done several activities on 3 different islands). There are no words to describe the beauty of the coast!! Cameron & Tony were knowledgeable and very fun!! We saw several whales & spinner dolphins, which took our trip to the next level for us! Snorkeling was cancelled because of rough water, but we didn’t even notice because we were having so much fun!! Thanks Cameron & Tony for an awesome adventure!

Kauai Na Pali Coast Snorkeling Tour & Sea Cave Adventure by Makana Charters

Wonderful trip!

Went on the afternoon trip with my best friend, we went as a birthday outing for him. The trip was SPECTACULAR, the cliffs and the water were gorgeous, we saw a a whale, the captain regaled us with facts of the coastline, and saw one of the sea caves. It was a little rough and we did not go in but it was still just as amazing all the same. We did not do any snorkeling (as it would be a little late in the day to do so) but we were permitted to jump out of the boat to swim around. It was fun, had a nice little meal. I will definitely go with this tour again if given the chance. A+.

It was our first time in such a tiny plane. The flight was full of incredible views over almost whole Kauai with interesting information from the pilot including the music from movies filmed on this island. He used more different angles during the flight over the main spots - for example Napali Coast so we could really enjoy the splendor of nature. Can highly recommend this company for a flight.

I booked for 3 people in my family. I was so concerned about the weather being good because the forecast didn’t look great. The day of our flight came and it was looking sunny however I was feeling under the weather. Our flight was scheduled for 11:30. The company called us to reschedule because they were having technical issues. I thought that would be good and hopefully I’d be feeling better the next day. Unfortunately I was feeling worse and the weather was super cloudy. I called them to let them know I was sick but my husband and daughter could still make it. They said I couldn’t get a refund unless I went to the ER and had a Dr write a note. Really? The Emergency Room? It would’ve cost more than the flight. I took a Covid test and it was positive so I chose not to risk infecting others and gave them plenty of notice. The weather never cleared but they flew anyway. my husband and daughter said it was beautiful but rainy and cloudy. They loved seeing views that you couldn’t see otherwise especially the waterfalls. Air Kauai was able to fill my seat so while they actually made money I was out the money AND the experience. I wouldn’t recommend them.

This cruise was perfect for our 6 and 10 yr old kids. We really enjoyed the friendly staff and the snorkeling!
Id also like to add if you get even a teeny bit seasick i highly recommend taking some motion sickness medication. It was choppy and boy did I feel it the last hour or so!
Despite that, I'd do this cruise over again in a heartbeat.

I WOULD BOOK WITH MAKANA AGAIN

I do not know where to start. On September 20th we boarded the boat with Captain A’a and his daughter Ri (Ree). They were professional, knowledgeable, fun, and worth every penny. Whether you are serious about snorkeling (like me) or just looking to see the sites (my husband) you will enjoy this excursion.
On land they will divide you up into groups and then Captain A’a will explain the do’s and don’ts while on his boat (by the way do not bring bananas or granola bars as snacks – he will explain). He is serious about the don’ts. The Captain and his daughter are very knowledgeable of the area (ask them anything) and they are so much fun.
I would definitely recommend the Makana Charters and I highly recommend Captain A’a and his daughter. Thank you both for a fabulous time and making us feel like your friend – not just a customer.

This was a truly epic experience we got to not only see the Na Pali coastline but we got to learn so many interesting facts from the very knowledgable crew. the views were magnificent, and the snorkeling was great we got to see some sea turtles and we got to see a very impressive pod of spinner dolphins as we started the boat ride. I highly recommend this if you are spending some time in Kauai

Fun for family with 3 kids

My 10 yo and I tend to get motion sickness so we followed their advice and took our meds (Bonnie/dramamine) the night before and the morning of. We had no issues! I think it helped that we were (randomly selected) for the largest of the 3 boats. It was a loooong boat ride. We went about 2.5 hours before we stopped to snorkel and have lunch. There isn't a lot of room but you can bring a beach bag with essentials (I wish I would've brought snacks). The ride was long but also GORGEOUS and fun for kids to look at. We saw a school (?) Of dolphins swimming along with us, monk seals on the beach, and of course the Na Pali coast. Snorkeling was fun and laid back. My 6 yo was able to just use her own goggles (regular pool goggle) and their floaty (similar to a pool noodle). She had a BLAST. My 12 yo and I even jumped off the front of the boat several times. We saw lots of fish and 2 sea turtles. I definitely recommend this tour! If you book - choose the morning ride!!

Best Tour we’ve ever done!

Captain Kam and Asia were wonderful to our small group. We loved being in the smaller 12 person boat. Kam is a very skilled captain and they both always kept our safety a priority. It was fun, incredibly gorgeous view of the Napali coast. We saw dolphins, turtles, went under a waterfall. The best part was we got lucky with the weather and got to experience a unique cave tour as well.
Food was great too, everything was perfect!
