My group and I enjoyed exploring the NaPali Coast with the captain and crew. Captain Mike, Elijah, and Leeroy were fantastic!

My friend and I loved this excursion. It was the highlight of our trip. The Napali Coast was amazing. So beautiful and rugged. Snorkeling was great and whale watching was phenomenal. Would highly recommend this trip and this company to anyone visiting Kauai.

The tour of the property was phenomenal! Such a warm and engaging family. The food was top notch and the show was beautiful. Highly recommend Smiths Family Luau!! My husband and I truly enjoyed the experience!

GLOWS:
- Beautiful property. Got to see a peacock open its tail -Lots of great picture spots on the property.
- The food was delicious!! I finally got to try all the traditional Hawaiian food in one place. Things that I didn't get to order in the restaurants, I got here. And it was All You Can Eat which is always amazing. There was no shortage of food for sure. Since they gave you a ton of time (I think an hour?) to eat, you can take your time and go back for 2nd's or 3rd's. (All you can drink drinks but I don't drink alcohol so I enjoyed their juices which were great too!).
- Pig Ceremony!! I got to see them dig out the pig and see the whole thing. It felt special as Mr. Smith explained all that was happening.
- Good singing and hula dancing! Get on the stage and shake your booty!!
- Fire dancer in the show was great!
- This is a family run operation and we were told there were 3 generations on the property!! Keep it up!
- I appreciated the shout outs for all the celebrations that everyone was doing. From Birthdays to Anniversaries and everything in between. One big party!

GROWS:
- Honestly, a Luau is part food and part show and the show was really just lacking. There was no spirit in the performers. I'm not sure if they were bored/tired of doing it night after night or what but I felt almost bad for them(mainly the ladies). The crew was small so they had to do a lot of different dances with the same performers, there was no energy or spirit in any of the dances. Favorite part was definitely the Fire dancer - he was fantastic. The guys also carried a lot more energy than the ladies. I do appreciate the way they tried to incorporate different cultural dances into the show but they all started to look the same after one or two dances. I would've left halfway through the show if it weren't for the fire dancer at the end.

The staff were welcoming, informative, and entertaining.
The cruise was relaxing and comfortable.
The walk to the Grotto was convenient and beautiful.

The crew is very friendly and gets to know you as you make your way out to the coast line. Then they provide you with a spectacular tour of the coast while sharing knowledge about the history of the coast line, Hawaiian culture and general ocean sea life. They stopped to show us spinner dolphins as a pod crossed our paths and pointed out other sea life native to Hawaii. Awesome Tour All Around!

My family, including four kids, had a wonderful time on the Na Pali coast boat tour. The crew went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience. We saw bottlenose and spinner dolphins and tons of whales up close. The views of the coast were mesmerizing. Although the weather did not cooperate for snorkeling, the crew made up for it by letting us jump off the boat and swim. It was a day to remember and a highlight for the kids!

The boat ride over to the fern grotto was easy and short. Heard some history,, took a short walk to the grotto where they sang a song and danced. It was beautiful. Ride back had music and hula dancing. It was a slow day for us and this for perfect in our plans. Relaxing calm ride with great people. Highly recommend………………………………………………………………………………………………………we had a short lesson on how to hula dance on our way back to the dock.

Fun, enjoyed the music and narrative. Good history of the area

People are great, fun, a good afternoon on the water

We weren't the most graceful surfers but sure had fun trying.

We didn't know how hard it would be to learn to surf. But our guide was patient and helpful. We had a blast and we all did catch a wave.

First of all, I was surprised to see such a large river flowing in Hawaii (especially on the small island of Kauai). This tour has a history of 76 years, and I was moved to have a tour guide who is the granddaughter of the founder, Walter Smith. The atmosphere felt like a boat trip on the Amazon River, and I really enjoyed it. It was purely a river cruise (not going out to sea), and the boat didn't sway at all, so there was no seasickness. I think it's a tour that can be enjoyed by everyone, from small children to the elderly.

まず、ハワイに（しかも小さなカウアイ島に）こんなに大きな川が流れているのが驚きでした。このツアーは７６年の歴史があるそうですが、創始者ウォルター・スミスの孫娘にあたる方がツアーガイドをしてくださり感動しました。雰囲気的にはアマゾン川を船旅してるような感じで、結構楽しめました。純粋に川だけのクルーズで（海には出ない）、船も全く揺れずに船酔いもありませんでした。小さな子供から高齢の方まで問題なく楽しめるツアーだとおもいます。

Good time! This was my first Luau, and it was very enjoyable. Very professional establishment and they put the dinner and show on without a glitch.

We had a great time with the Smith Family cruising to the beautiful fern grotto. Our captain shared the history of the area with us as we cruised to the grotto and at the grotto, one of the performers shared more history with us. On the outward voyage we had music, dancing and song. On the way back we had the chance to learn a little hula dance. Gracious people and a good time.

It was a great little activity. We had done this 26 years ago for our anniversary so doing it again on our anniversary trip was great.

The staff were funny and very enjoyable. It was disappointing we couldn't go in the cave the last time you could. However we understand why.

I would definitely recommend this activity. Hearing about the history was awesome.

Everything about this experience was perfect! The grounds are so beautiful. The food was very good and plentiful, as were the drinks! The show was great and I like that it was presented separately from dinner in their amphitheater. Everyone was very welcoming in the true spirit of Aloha!
Over the years, I have attended several luaus in Hawaii, at different venues on 3 of the islands and the Smith Family Luau on Kauai was by far the best!! I’m so glad that when I was researching which luau to choose that I chose them! My husband, our son, our daughter and her fiancé, and I want to extend a huge mahalo to the Smith Family for a wonderful evening!

My wife and I went on the Fern Grotto tour on our honeymoon in 1990. We didn't think they'd still be around, after Iniki ravaged Kauai and COVID shut down hundreds of businesses. The hotel where we stayed was gone so we feared there would be nothing left from our initial trip. But when we returned, there were the Smiths, still in business! We loved the informative cruise and especially the lovely traditional Hawaiian music - not the usual pandering with "Aloha Oe" and "Tiny Bubbles," but the real stuff. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this revisit to a highlight of our honeymoon.

The boat ride was very nice and theSmith family crew were very pleasant and informative. Seeing the grotto was awesome.

Con: rushed diner and so-so food

Easy and fun activity to do with littles. The boat cruise is lovely and the fern grotto is beautiful. Stroller accessible throughout. Guided commentary on the way to the grotto and live entertainment on the way back. The staff is very kind.

We enjoyed the Wailua River Cruise immensely. Though it was less than two hours, the trip up the Wailua River was beautiful. The narration on the boat was informative and amusing. The Fern Grove at the end of the trip was stunning. Both at the Fern Grove and on the trip back we were entertained with music and hula dancing by charming performers who clearly love sharing these traditions with visitors. I should mention that I have mobility limitations, and the hosts on the boat were most kind and accommodating.

Great evening, there is lots to do and learn on the plantation before the show even begins!

Thesea caves definitely made the whole event even cooler! One of a kind experience.

The breakdown of the tour time included about 30 minutes of travel to the Fern Cave, and around 30 minutes spent around the cave, totaling a tour duration of one and a half hours. Since our children were 4 years old and 1 year and 9 months, it was great that both the parents and kids could enjoy it without getting too tired. Of course, you can fully enjoy nature while on the boat as you navigate the river and at the Fern Cave. Additionally, there is a good place for children to play nearby called Kamalani Playground, which was another positive aspect.

ツアーの時間の内訳としては、シダの洞窟への移動に片道30分程度、そしての洞窟周辺で30分程度の計1時間半のツアーでした。
子供たちが4歳と1歳9ヶ月だったので、親共々そこまで疲れず楽しめて良かったです。
もちろん川を進む船の中、シダの洞窟にて自然を満喫できます。
また近くにKamalani playgroundという子供たちが遊ぶには良い場所があるので、その点も良かったです。

The Smith Family are true Hawaiians. Reasonably priced and gave their all. Best family experience of our trip. Mahalo Smith Family for a memorable experience. A must when coming to Kauai

Went on the afternoon trip with my best friend, we went as a birthday outing for him. The trip was SPECTACULAR, the cliffs and the water were gorgeous, we saw a a whale, the captain regaled us with facts of the coastline, and saw one of the sea caves. It was a little rough and we did not go in but it was still just as amazing all the same. We did not do any snorkeling (as it would be a little late in the day to do so) but we were permitted to jump out of the boat to swim around. It was fun, had a nice little meal. I will definitely go with this tour again if given the chance. A+.
