The food was very delicious and the show was very well done with incredible dancing and special effects. You not only go there to have a good time, but you learn the history of the island and all it has to offer. I would rate this as a Superior experience.

Beautiful scenery and Attentive crew--this tour is a must do!

This snorkel sail was by far the highlight of our vacation in Kauai. For years I've dreamed of sailing along the Na Pali coast and it was more beautiful than I ever imagined. The emerald cliffs were absolutely breathtaking. Other passengers spotted whales breaching the water nearby but I couldn't take my eyes of the coast. As we began our sail back to the harbor we were accompanied by a pod of dolphins who swam alongside and in front of our boat for several minutes; it was magical.
My fiance's favorite part of the cruise was the snorkeling. We had so much fun swimming in a secluded cove and spotting unique marine life.
I can't leave out the exceptional crew. As we sailed along the coast they pointed out historic sites, popular film locations, famous (and notorious) hikes, and told us about the local wildlife.
We'll relish in the memories of this tour forever!

This was a great time. This was our first time in kayak and we did awesome as our guide said. The hike to the falls was muddy but well worth it. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a little adventure.

Hanalei River and Blue Lagoon Kayaking & Guided Snorkeling Tour - Kayak Kauai

Rain can't stop a good time.

A warm rain fell, off and on during our float up the river, but since we were going to get wet anyhow, it didn't matter. Our guides, Web and Dan, were very attentive and funny. And knowledgeable about what we were seeing along the way.

One thing that was different from our expectation, but didn't matter too much, was that since the road past Hanalei is closed indefinitely due to a storm, the guides had to park and load things in different spots than normal, which added to the walk to the beach.

I would recommend this trip to anyone who likes fun flatwater kayaking, and great snorkeling on the north coast of Kaua'i.

Our whole party of six was pleasantly surprised by the Smith's Family Garden Luau. We have been to other luaus and this rates as the best so far. The grounds are beautiful! The food and service was excellent! The staff were very friendly. The dinner entertainment was nice and the after dinner show was very good and informative of Hawaiian cultural history.

We got to kayak down the Wailua River. Jay our guide was amazing. He told us about historical information about the beautiful island of Kauai and it’s history. Our hike to the waterfall was deep in the interior and he pointed out plants and trees and gave us history and background about them. He was patient and very friendly. Our swim in the falls was something on my bucket list and was definitely what I was expecting and more! Thank you to Jay and everyone at Kayak Kauai!

The grounds of the Smith Family Luau are beautiful, kept up well. The unearthing of the pig was a great experience. The food, well, it was okay, nothing special. The mai tai's were a funny brown color, not sure what juice was in it. The best part was the show. The music and dancers were amazing! So happy we were able to see it.

Holo Holo Super Kauai Snorkel Tour - Niihau & Na Pali Coast Adventure with Breakfast, Lunch & Drinks

We had a great time on this snorkel cruise! The Na Pali Coast is gorgeous and our crew made the experience that much better by being so friendly and accommodating. They were right there if you needed anything, ready to answer any questions you had and give background information on the island, and were even offering to take pictures for you. We were fortunate to get to see so much marine life from the boat--dolphins, whales, sea turtles, manta rays, and a baby octopus. The only downside is that we wish we could have snorkeled for a longer period of time (because we love it!). The ride back to Kauai from Niihau was definitely rough, but we took Dramamine beforehand and wore sea bands, which all seemed to help. The crew definitely lightened the mood with jokes and took efficient care of those unfortunate few who got sick. We would definitely recommend this excursion!

I have visited Oahu and Hawaii Island many times, but this summer I went to Kauai for the first time in 43 years. I don't have any memories from back then, but it's a shame that you can't enter the caves now. Still, the area around the caves is full of atmosphere, and the boat tour was quite enjoyable with various activities.

Most of the passengers were from Europe and America, but we leisurely floated down the Wailua River. Onboard, there was a hula performance accompanied by Hawaiian songs played on the ukulele, which engaged the passengers in dancing and made for a fun experience. After disembarking, the "Fern Grotto" was just a few minutes away. It seems that in the past, visitors could enter the grotto, but now the view is only from the deck area in front, which was a bit disappointing, yet we still enjoyed it thoroughly. On the way back, we spent about an hour and a half, taking in the scenery and encountering canoes navigating the Kailua River. Since it was an early morning departure, it was just the right time to head out for lunch afterward. As it was my first time on Kauai, I think this is a recommended option.

It was wasted money. We drove with the guides 45min to Hanalei. There we walked relatively long along the public beach to the kayaks and started to kayak in the river next corner. Nothing spectacular and you can see everything from the road. After about 1 hour kayaking they brought us to a dead reef in front of a hotel where you can go by yourself as well.

Sacred Falls

We took the Sacred Falls kayak, hike and waterfall swim with Doc as our guide. He was awesome, providing great information about many of the plants we saw. He was better than our guide at one of the botanical gardens we visited. He also provided information on Hawaiian culture and history. The kayaking was at a very comfortable pace. My advice to future visitors would be to wear shoes you wouldn't mind throwing away. The mud was VERY deep but not too difficult to hike through. The waterfall was beautiful and a fun place to at least wash off your feet!

The kayak ride down the river was beautiful and relaxing. The waterfall was beautiful, and worth the hike! However the trail is very muddy and we weren't expecting that, and therefore ruined our good pair of running shoes. It is worth it, but do bring a good pair of shoes (you'll need them!) but that you don't mind getting wet and dirtying forever.

This activity has all instructions in English, but I highly encourage participation even if you don't speak English. You can still have a great time, and the crew is very attentive, making sure you are comfortable throughout the experience.

When you think of snorkeling in Okinawa or Asian beach resorts, you might be disappointed in terms of coral and fish visibility. However, the breathtaking views of the Na Pali Coast are truly moving. Floating in the sea while looking up at the towering rock formations feels amazing. We even encountered dolphins and sea turtles, and if you approach it as a cruising experience, I think you'll be very satisfied.

■ Boat Facilities
Since it's a catamaran, it doesn't sway too much, but the cruising time is long, so those who are not used to it should be cautious of seasickness. There is a space inside the boat to shield you from the wind, and it also has a restroom.

■ Useful Items to Bring
It can get chilly when the wind hits your wet body, so a waterproof windbreaker would be handy. The snorkeling gear provided is relatively basic, so if you have your own snorkel and mask, it might be better to bring them along.

■ Meals
Breakfast: Cinnamon rolls, croissants, fruit, coffee
Lunch: Make-your-own sandwiches & salad, pasta
Drinks: Sprite, cola, green tea, beer, wine (white & red), etc.
The salad and ham were fresh, making for quite delicious sandwiches.

■ Surrounding Information
There are a few small shops around Port Allen, including a Kauai local chocolate and cookie shop, and a brewery. A short walk away, you'll find Subway and McDonald's. We didn't drive, so we took an Uber (costing $46 from Lihue) to get there, and on the way back, we happened to catch a bus to Lihue, which cost $2, and transferred from the bus to Uber. Most people probably rent cars, but since there are few Uber drivers on Kauai, it's wise to consider the risk of not being able to get one.

Good, but not the best

The food was very good, and the show was good as well. My only real complaint is the time gap between events happening. We arrived and were treated to a tram tour of the botanical gardens, which is fabulous. After that we had approximately 40 minutes before the Imu ceremony where they pull the pig out of the oven. Although we further explored the gardens, there's only so many times you can admire a flower or tree. My wife and I decided to find seats (open seating for parties less than 5), and we choose poorly. The bar doesn't open until after the Imu ceremony, so we weren't able to enjoy a drink (other than water) while we waited. After the Imu ceremony, the band started playing music and the bar opened. Once the buffet started, we realized our poor choice of seats, as we were among the last tables to be signaled for the buffet. At least we had drinks by that time, but the waiting wears on you. The food was good, but once we were finished, there was only the music to listen to. Normally this is an opportunity to talk to the other guests, but the seating arrangement isn't conducive to starting a conversation with strangers.
After another 30 minutes or dead time or so, we moved from the dining area to the theater. The show was entertaining, with traditional dances and music, but it just didn't flow as a story for me. I felt like it was more of a documentary of Hawaiian dance. My wife and I were ready to go when it was over (even before).

Nice surprise

My idea about a Luau was...some food and a little bit of Tahitian dancing on a hotel property...This is what we saw year after year walking on Kaanapali beach - Maui .

Smith Family Garden Luau IT IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT- worth attending. They are very well organized and offer you a unique experience!

1. You get greeted by a local girl and boy who are offering a lei and at this point you get a group picture taken- nice touch- no pressure to buy it,

2.They offer you a tour of the garden and after that you have time to wander by yourself- 50 min- until they do the pork ceremony.

3. You are invited to your table- parties 6 or more have assigned seats- very thoughtful. They have a neat system to invite you to get the food without overcrowding the area. BTW- plenty of good food and drinks.
4. During the meal they entertain you : a little bit of dancing and singing and they invite people from the crowd to teach them how to dance. It was really neat !!
4. After the meal you are invited to an outdoor theater for an 1 hour show. It was A REAL show...lights, music...put together very professional! Enough seats for everyone, you can seethe scene from every seat . At the entrance you can pick up your photos.


I think it is the only Luau worth attending :)
